You say 'Hail Klom Jysun'

Klom Jysun says 'Pleasure to meet you Isola. I am Klom Jysun, Grandmaster of the Ashen Order. I have lived in the great city of Freeport for quite sometime now and have watched the city evolve and change. Nowadays though I am in charge of training new members of the Ashen Fist. If you are a young monk and are in need of some armor I might have some work for you. Are you a [monk]?'

You say, 'I am a monk'

Klom Jysun says 'I am always pleased when a new disciple visits our sacred halls. If you are [interested] in crafting your own armor I have a number of gathering tasks for you to do that will test both your navigational and fighting skills.'

You say, 'I am interested in armor'

Klom Jysun says 'I am very pleased to here about your interest in proving your worth to the Ashen Order. First let me present you with this Fistfighters Loom. Inside of it you will combine [various components] to form armor materials. Once you have a material for a certain piece of armor you will combine it in a Loom along with the appropriate pattern. When you inform me what piece of armor you [want] to craft, I will be able to present you with the component recipe and pattern needed for crafting it.'

You say, 'What various components'

Klom Jysun says 'The items you will need to collect are all over the Freeport area, some in stores some off vicious monsters. If you are up for the challenge though I will be able to provide you with the armor recipes and patterns for Stonehand [Caps], [Bracers], [Sleeves], [Sandals], [Trousers], [Gloves] and [Robes]. All you will need to do is tell me what piece of armor you [want] to craft, and I will be able to present you with the component recipe and pattern needed for crafting it.'

You say, 'I want to craft a cap'

Klom Jysun says 'A cap will almost certainly be your most important piece of armor you will craft. To create your cap material you will need to combine 2 Matted Lion Pelts, 1 Malachite, 1 Snake Scale and a Cloth Cap in your assembly kit. Once you have created the proper material take it to a Loom along with this mold to fashion your very own Cap of the Stonehand.'

I have made this cap as my lvl 4 monk.
Use snake scales for it.
The cap does not change your appearence.
loom
# Jun 24 2002 at 2:53 PM Rating: Default
where is the nearest loom located? I can seem to find on in town.
RE: loom
# Aug 06 2002 at 5:38 AM Rating: Excellent
Bit late getting back to you here, but for anyone else looking for the loom in Freeport, it's on the second floor of Velithe & Bardo's Imported Goods, E Freeport.

# Jun 11 2002 at 12:03 PM Rating: Decent

scales

You can use the snake scales one would find in the newbie yard. And for anyone like me who has never used a loom before; it is located on the second floor of the Emporium in East Freeport. Be sure to click on the right side of the wood frame to open the loom.
WOOT!

I tried this today and it worked! I forgot to check the stats on the cap, but I put everything together and made it.
Hat Quest NOW working
# Jun 05 2002 at 7:36 PM Rating: Default
The last patch fixed the Monk and the Wizzard armor hat/cap quest. I used a regular cloth hat I got from the lady in the N desert of RO. Std snake scales.

I had to get a GUIDE to nuke her because she was out-to-lunch for 2+ days (earth time)

stats:
AC +3
STA +2
AGI +1
Wt 0.4

I will keep using my Wu hat
because it has:
AC +5
AGI +3
wt 0.1
Fixed on Test
# Jun 03 2002 at 2:22 PM Rating: Decent
Even though the NPC text is still incorrect, this quest worked on test as of June 1, 2002.

I used snake scales off a moss snake.

BROKEN? GRRRRR!
# Jun 02 2002 at 12:15 AM Rating: Default
I spent alot of time on the Sol Ro server trying to do this stupid cap quest. Not to mention the kind of responses i got when i asked what the scale droped off of. so now I find it's broken.
wasted time:(! as far as the loom goes whats wrong with you people if your really a monk a loom is your best friend. 10 slot and no weight addition 8*P. Also why the crap is it that things never drop when you look for them?

I know what u mean! Verant must have a team of psycics monitoring every player because the minute you start looking for something is the minute it goes to the very rare item drop list! LOL

Snake Scale
# May 30 2002 at 11:15 AM Rating: Default
The problem lies in the phrasing. The NPC wants a snake scale, but there is no such thing, all that drops are snake scales. Seems like a simple fix.
snake scale found

look on moss snakes in EC and west freeport
Still Broken?
# May 24 2002 at 7:32 PM Rating: Decent
As someone posted earlier, the recipe calls for snake scale, but all I can seem to find are snake scales. Has anyone heard whether this is a broken quest or is there really something out there called snake scale?

anyone find new info?
# May 22 2002 at 9:41 AM Rating: Decent
I tried making this cap and it's still a no go. I petitioned about it and all i got was, "i'm sorry but i can't give out quest info." I even asked where a loom was and got something to the affect of, "I think there may be one in Kelethin, but if there's looms they're new and i don't really know where they are, but you should be able to use the proper sewing kit." I went in the chat room and asked the GM in there and got,"you will have to fill out a bug report." I have the cloth cap, malachite, matted lion pelts, and snake scales (tho if there are a new version of scales i don't know about them and the GM wouldn't tell me) It just keeps saying, "you can not combine these items in this container type" It seems to me that they are either ignoring the issue or it's not near the top of their "to do" list. Whats a weee, poor monk to do...

I have submitted a bug report on Vazaelle and hopefully will get some sort of reply as to if there is a new item or that the quest is broken.

forget the loom ( there is one in freeport)
Just use a small sewing kit. Or live dangerously and carry a LARGE 8 holder 3 lb sewing kit for your loot. I too have made all the other items.

we might need a magic sword to chop the S off of
scales.
Stonehand cap

I too can not make the cap. The quest I believe is broken. I am working on reporting it as a bug. Has anyone figured out if there is a set bonus once we get all the pieces. Probably not until we get the cap lol. Bilsparhoc

I agree with everybody the cap quest must be broke because I can not get it to work . I have spent hours trying for hours but no luck.
RE: cap quest
# May 17 2002 at 1:08 AM Rating: Default
It is not just the Monk cap quest either. A friend has tried with a Wizard, and that one won't combine, either.
where to get matted lion pelts
# May 13 2002 at 8:28 PM Rating: Decent
Matted Lion Pelts are dropped by pumas, woodland lions, and young hill cats. They're rare, so you should check if merchants in the area have any.
Matted Lion Pelt?

Does anyone know where I can located a Matted Lion Pelt?

Update - Quest is confirmed as broken
# May 12 2002 at 2:50 PM Rating: Good
Talked with a guide today after a great deal of frustration. Two things.

1) The snake scale, is a plain old snake scales from a moss snake, etc., or bought in the stores from your local mages guild.

2) The Cloth Cap needed is not in game. i.e. buy any cloth cap anywere and you'll never get a combine. What you have to do is /petition a GM to swap out the store bough cloth cap for the mystically non-verant nerfed cloth cap that only GM's can get. Add to that that a Guide can't do this, or at least the guides on FV refuse too. Only GM's can.

Hope that helps.

Petitioned today on StormHammer and the GM spent a good 15/20 mins trying to make a cap himself. He had no luck and came to the conclusion the rest of us have made. Broken quest.

Talked to a gm yesterday and they said it should be working. But to though of us who do the quests we know differently. He / She said that they would pass on my info to the dev team. I am on Vazaelle and I suggest to all who want this quest to work to talk to a GM then petition for a fix.

Talked with a GM on my server (Tribunal) today and she said she hadn't heard anything about this. She said all the pieces for the quest were there and it should be working. Of course I can't get it working any better than anyone else...

Snake scale

what drops the stupid snake snale!
broken?
# May 12 2002 at 9:47 AM Rating: Decent
I've done all the quests except this one and the robe. I think this one is broken because I'm using a Cloth cap and snake scales and it won't combine. The only thing I can think of is that there's another type of snake scale.
Is the cap the problem?
# May 12 2002 at 3:06 AM Rating: Decent
All the caps I've seen that say Cloth Cap, when you look at Size it says Small. Is there a Cloth Cap with Size: Medium? Could this be the problem?
RE: Is the cap the problem?
# May 23 2002 at 3:04 PM Rating: Default
There are 2 sizes in Everquest when it comes to armor. The first is armor size: small, medium, and large. The second is item size: tiny, small, medium, large, and giant. Armor size when stated is is the name of the item, like "Large Cloth Cap". Medium sized armors don't state a size like small and large armors do. When you look at the size listed on the stats of the item, that is the item size.

Small Cloth Cap, Cloth Cap, and Large Cloth Cap are all "Size: SMALL" because that is their item size, not their armor size.

The cap might still be the problem, but it would not be for that reason.
Broken ?
# May 12 2002 at 12:35 AM Rating: Decent
I did all the Stonehand pieces except for the Cap and Sandals. I'm beginning to think both of these quests are broken atm.
RE: Broken ?
# May 12 2002 at 9:48 AM Rating: Decent
It's not broken...I've got the Sandals.
