NPC is named Gallin Woodwind just follow the text string in brackets. Did it today got 8 gold, 1 silver, 4 copper plus a tarnished spear from him for 1 turn in - not really worth it if your hunting sharks in erudin - meat is a fairly rare drop off sharks - killed over 30 got 5 pieces of meat

Not only can you not buy the Shark meat in Thurg, but I couldn't get the NPC to give me the pouch, and he won't take the meat with out it.

I'll have to check back after the next patch.

As of 5/3/2003, this quest was working fine. I did it twice in a row without any problems. Make sure you're talking to the right person... he's on the right as you face the front door of the Emerald Warrior's guild, and wears chain. There's another person on the balcony wearing plate on the left side who talks about hunting meat, but does not offer the quest.

I got my shark meat in the Erudin harbor. There's a shark, several sand sharks, and the diseased shark which appears and spawns 6 young sharks when killed... all of which have the potential for dropping shark meat. The young sharks seemed to have more than the others.

The best place to get shark meat anymore is in Erudin's crossing(erud xing). I went in for the hero bracer quest and when i jumped off the boat to swim the rest of the way i noticed 20 sharks in one spawn swimming inside of one another, besides the killer sharks which aren't easy to kill at any level, this is the best place to kill sharks. A lot of them spawn and as long as you don't go near a killer shark (which can swim as fast as i can run with lev and sow together above the water) you should be ok. plauge sharks there too, i always had 3 or 2 on track and the spawn time is very good for them there seeing how its really the only mob besides the one on the island and around the ship for the shammy epic.

I get shark meat and shark skin by the stack while camping wiltin windwalker in OOT next to gornit. I have plenty of time on my hands so I go shark hunting. The sharks give shark bones, skins, meat, fresh fish, and occasional lower end gems and jewelry (probably off the poor saps that couldn't kill them <S>) I just haven't turned the meat in. I have used them to work on baking skills. Shark steaks anyone? <S>

Shark meat can easily be gotten in the Qeynos sewers. there is a little pond that 2 sharks spawn in, they drop bones skin and meat along with the Doll you need for the velvet chocker quest. And an rune or word spell sometimes...mostly skin.

Look, the Erudin Harbor really IS your best source of shark meat. Why? There are three sharks that spawn about every 10 mins that are under level 10. They guard the Pearls of Odus(for another quest). Also, a plagued shark spawns here-- when you kill it, a whole bunch of little, weak sharks appear. Think of the plagued shark as an "added bonus". I just rely on the other sharks as a source of meat.

I have seen Sharks (Hammer Heads) next to the docks of the Ocean of Tears port. Shark conned Green to me (13th Necro) so I assume he can be taken without too much hassle. Just never fought in water so not too sure about tactics.

This quest has been doubly nerfed.

First, they removed shark meat off the merchant in Thurgadin.

Second, just for kicks, they removed sharks from Butcherblock.

I am not sure where (if anywhere) sharks spawn any more. Anyone have any shark meat hunt stories they could share? Please limit your stories to hunts that happened AFTER the quest nerf, and hunts that resulted in a shark meat (not "i once saw a shark in freeport harbor")

"I once saw a shark in freeport and i just seen it 5 minutes ago so like its there and i think i found an item i couldnt find on Allakhazam....its A locked chest i dont know what this IS for? umm, contact me the chest is right under the shark....its in between the harbor dock and the secret enterence in the wall, its actually right next to the big Rock thing near Freeport's wall which is close to the Dark elf that you'll see if your riding from BB to FP.....G'luck

The locked chest is for a quest starting in Neriak... For you as a gnome it is worthless... Regarding the shark, yes it is still there, but be prepared to camp it a long time for get 4 shark meats. If you are a good race watch out for the darkelf that spawns at night. If you are a bad race, watch out for the babarian(?) who spawns during the day...

During the day, it's Norrath's favorite crotchety old fisherman, "Bait" Masterson. He's an amazing fellow, because when he's not in Freeport fishing in the harbor, he's in the Qeynos sewers fishing for ... sewer fish, I guess. He really gets around.

I find shark meat a fairly frequent drop from the sharks in the Harbor where you land in Erudin from Qeynos. Simple. The hammerhead shark is yellow to me at level 15, but the sand sharks are green. The sand sharks drop the meat and guard Odus's pearls. They also drop bones and skins.

Another nice thing to hunting sharks in the Erudin harbor is getting faction from the young sharks that spawn after killing the diseased shark. Heretics goes down, but that's easy enough to fix by killing kobolds.

Just don't use an AoE to slaughter the young sharks. The paladins of Erudin worship the god of the ocean... and like to swim nearby as part of their training and meditation.

Stop the wining about shark meat not being sold anymore and get your lazy rump to Freeport dock. There is a NPC to the south of the dock a human fisher at day and a darkelf rouge at night, just in front of this NPC in the water there is a shark guarding a chest, just kill the shark and get the shark meat and if you are a darkelf remember to get the chest as well (give it to the darkelf rouge leader Neriak)…

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 27 2001 at 7:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Since the shark meat vendors stopped selling the shark meat, raising Kele faction has become quite impossible! The best place I've found to get meat is the Queynos sewers, but even then there are only a few spawns at 10 min intervals. If anyone know of a better place, please tell me.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 19 2001 at 6:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Thanks alot whoever the idiot was that complained or somehow tipped off a GM so that the quest got Nerfed now us people that were sick of fighting for good hunting spots with others which seem to be diminishing more all the time and would rather quest for a little xp/money/faction sometimes cannot. (this was extrememely slow and boring combining and handing in shark meat over and over btw) Also to the Verant who made the call to nerf /RUDE and thanks for ******* me off. I think ill go annihilate some newbie areas now for faction and if anyone complaines tough $h!t cause Verant nerfs anything that might cut down on the amount of people zone hogging and once again has worsened the overall game.

At about 7pm cst he dissappeared, errr was killed with no melee damage messages. Just an attack message then a death message(GM-KILL).
As of this morning I have logged into several servers and can confirm that he is also missing.
I petitioned a GM and they denied any NERFING of this quest but in the defense of the Guide who answered me. He said that he had just logged in and was unaware of any game changes at that time.

Yep this one has been nerfed...it used to give out a bronze weapon and up 2 pp per 4 meats...but now it is a random pierce and 5gp and 8sp...if you do the trugadin load-up, the process is slowed by the encuberment from the coin...so off to the bank for every 2 stacks...but still good pp/hr and great exp.

Verant leave this one alone...it is a ***** to get to thurgadin and the reward should be the lvl and pp for such a daring quest....I bought the Velious Exp and have never used it except for the use of the velious weapons.

The problem is the possibility for wizards/druids to bind themselves at the meat merchant and then porting tons of backpacks of shark meat to Gfay/BB in order to make cash or to p/l alts and friends.

It seems like on my server there are a minimum of 3 characters at any one time doing this quest and I truly doubt any of these characters actually went to Velious themselves to get this meat.
RE: nerfing
# May 16 2001 at 1:49 PM Rating: Default
a. powerleveling alts is much easier, and faster with a druid just shielding/sln/chloro, than doing this quest.

b. Druids/Wizzies can make 10x the money per hour killing things like giants. Especially if you are high enough to quad kite them.

if people want to do this quest instead of the ol' monster bash, then let them. Everyone needs to just chill out and let others play the game how they want to.

I hear that htis quest is gonna get nerfed... Don't know when, but since so many folks are buying the meat and not hunting for it...

I also bought all the meat I could carry and stash in the bank. Went through enough to lvl with my 16 dru, sold some, gave some away and x-fered some to another char... Good way to get xp and some cash (made appx 300pp on 6 full packs)
