this quest says at Minimum Level 8. Maybe, but only with a good group. The target was yellow to me at lvl 10 and her bodyguards white and yellow. its impossible to do this quest solo at this lvl.

At lvl 8 20 to mana is pretty nice so shut the hell up

I was level 8 and had 2 friends one level 6 one level 9 I casted root and ran her friends chased me while mine hacked her down. I only had to do this once and when they killed me i ran back and looted her for the staff.

Hi all,
Winex is a good Mage (bleagh) about level 12, usally. Clockwork Smith XIII is located in the Mines of Malfunction (of all the places he could be), Reading this I might no want to finish the quest. (oh well)

Ok, here's what you have to do:
(1)Find Winex Kloktik.
The safest and quickest way is to follow the path from Ak'Anon to the Windmills. Before you reach the Windmills, veer off the path, to the right, and follow the mountain until you reach a corner with a large steam plume shooting out of the ground.
Winex will be at location (-150, -1910), with 3 of her friends. Pulling and killing her was easy for my level 29 necro.
Faction hits for killing her are -Eldritch Collective, -Gem Choppers, -King Ak'Anon, +Dark Reflection, and +The Dead.
She drops Winex's Staff, 2HB, wt. 11.0, 7/40, all/all, Lore, No-Drop.
(2) Head back towards the windmills and hunt Harpies in front of the Mino Caves. I got the eye after the 5th Harpy succumbed to Kaneker's fists.
(3) Head to the newbie hunting pit, by the Druid stones. Kill everything. Eventually, a drakeling will spawn. Kill them until you get a pristine ebon drakeling scale. I killed about 30 drakelings in about 3 hours to get one ******* scale.
(4) Headback into Ak'Anon and return Winex's Staff to Tilzog. He will return to you a Rough Dark Reflection Staff, Lore, wt. 0.1, all/all. Faction hits for this step are +Dark Reflection, -Eldritch Collective, and -Deep Muses.
(5) Locate Clockwork Smith XIII and turn in the Rough Dark Reflection Staff, Harpy Eye, and Pristine Ebon Drakeling Scale to receive your "prize".
(6) Smack yourself in the head for wasting so much time on a stupid, useless quest.

This says it can be done as a level 5, but i am 9 and she con's as Red to me.
And can a necro pull her alone? Or will i need help?

I think you'd need help even if you got her to come by herself which I doubt.
I haven't had success pulling her alone, so might have to try different strats. Im a level 12 necro and i think i'll try something. I'll cast a snare(darkness) on one of the body guards and of course aggro all. Ill just run but of course only 2 will keep pace. Named and another body guard. I'll have my level 11 pet attack the other guard and steal aggro from named and run to lfay zone line. then zone right back in and have named 1 on 1. yeah it sounds good in theory but we'll see if it works.

Please can someone tell me why we get such terrible equipment when compared to the good races. Why does the good magic users get the magic book of stats, while we get the old twig of the rotten cabbage. Come on at least if you're going to do a patch make it one that does not need fixing immediately. I mean sometimes I think they make work for themselves.....please think before programming!!!!!

Just thought you might want some numbers to see if the good guys are actually getting a better deal.
Full set of Plague Sorcerers gear (2 wristbands) and the staff of dark reflection.
+21AC +13INT +25mana +11HP
VS the good guys eldrich collective armor (same full set + book)
+20AC, +3STA, +3AGI, +6DEX, +7CHA, +16INT, +10HP, +66mana, +5SVP, +5SVD
I think the good guys got the shaft, I mean we get 1 more HP. But then again the good guys have to do all that faction work to be able to walk into a city without being slaughtered on sight, or trade with a vendor. Or maybe verant thinks we need that 1 extra AC to be more effective casters.
I don't know... personally I think that when it comes to diety specific items or good vs evil items, the evil items should be the more powerful. It makes sense in a role playing kind of way. The evil forces tend to be more involved with the mortal world than the good dieties.
Doesn't Satan promise rewards for being evil? Isn't the dark side of the force more powerful (why would you turn to the dark side if it wasn't). Wouldn't it make a more compelling reason to be an evil character, who has to spend days killing greens in crushbone just to be tolerated in GFay (GFAY is my servers auction zone), if you get an edge on the good guys?
I say Verant should reward us for saving the world from Druids.

if you look at stats this quest isn't worth it. bleh it's 11wt(AHHH) and lik 7/30 or around there 2hb. and 2 flipping intelligence. *sticks finger in throar* i hope Vernant changes it. the good aligned book kick @$$...but this just plain blows.

Where does Winex hang out at? And what kind of caster is she? Enchanter, wizard, or magician? Any idea on level? Yeah, lots of questions =)

If you follow the right wall after leaving Ak'Anon, you'll come to an observatory, a group of Dark Reflection friendly NPCs, and then a group of 4 NPCs that fall under the same faction, I think it's Eldrich Collective. They were all blue to a 14 mage, and the first time I pulled them, 3 of them came to beat me down. The spells felt like wizards, but I was only watching my hit points quickly disappear. The second time around, I had a passing druid pull her solo and I killed her with an air pet for interrupts and chain nuking.

When you turn in the staff, you get in return a dark reflections rough staff and sent off to find a pristine ebon drakeling scale and a harpy eye. I got lucky and found the scale on the first drakeling, the harpy eye took some time. You then have to turn in the staff you got that's referred as a rough hewn staff, they eye and the scale to a clockwork smithXIII, a new vendor in the mines. You get the staff of dark reflections, which if I recall correctly is a 7/24 2hb +2int int casters/gnome/bertox only. I'm at work right now, so I can't be positive.
