[Find Allaria Sneakyfeet in Firiona Vie west of the bank]

You say, 'Hail, Allaria Sneakyfeet'

Allaria Sneakyfeet says 'Well hello Bakattak. What brings you to me? Are you one of the sneaky folk in search of the plans for the Whistler? '

You say, 'I am one of the sneaky folk in search of the plans for the whistler'

Allaria Sneakyfeet says 'I must tell you first off, there was much bloodshed in getting these plans. Three of Rivervale's bravest warrior were killed by Rozzut's brother, Neezee in order to keep the plans out of the hands of the Goblins. Allaria sighs deeply. There was much sorrow over this. The only positive that seemed to come out of the whole ordeal, was the finding of the plans to make the weapon that Rozzut, Chief Zambooz's main assassin uses so effectively. I have now made it my calling to give a copy of these plans to those that are worthy of such knowledge. Do you believe yourself to be worthy of such an honor? '

You say, 'I am worthy of the honor'

Allaria Sneakyfeet says 'Very well then. Here are the plans for the weapon that is said to cut holes into the enemy without much effort. Legend has it that if the wind is blowing, your enemy will be whistling after the fight. But they won't be whistling voluntarily. Allaria smiles. Good luck to you friend. '

[Receive a note called "Rozzet's Plans"]

Quote:

In order to make this weapon, the finest Frontier Ore must first be found. Once the ore has been found, more is needed. Since the dagger is magical, one must first get the magical component specifically needed for completion. The frontier ore is said to be found within the mines filled with the warring Goblins. Some Goblins keep it close to them. The magical component needed is the gem of nimbleness. Once the two items are found, there is only one that has the talent to successfully make the weapon. His name is Dapper Blackhammer. He is known to frequent the area around Kaladim. For his labor he requires 500 platinum.

- Frontier Ore drops off the Burynai Slaves in the Mines of Nurga. It appears to be a common drop.
- Gem of Nimbless drops off Drolvargs in the Dreadlands. This is an uncommon drop.

[Find Dapper Blackhammer in Butcherblock Mountains along the road between Kaladim and the crossroads.]

You say, 'Hail, Dapper Blackhammer'

Dapper Blackhammer says 'Hello Bakattak. What brings you to this neck of the mountains? Do you have any work for me? '

You say, 'yes I have work for you'

Dapper Blackhammer says 'Very good. Very good. What I require, if it is the whistler ya seek, is 500 platinum and the two components necessary. Once I have all three, I will then commence ta doin that right away fer ya. '

Hand in the Gem, Ore, and 500pp and in return he will give you Rozzut's Whistler, a little gold, and some exp.

Dapper Blackhammer says 'I thank ya for ya patronage. Here is what ya came here for. Now be careful who ya point this at. 'Tis quite sharp Barbarian. Be off with ya now as I must get back ta workin here. Good day!'

to get or not to get?

This Item used to great when it was released, it was a better ratio dagger from a fairly easy quest. HOWEVER there is now a saturation of higher tier weapons on everquest now, so it is easy to get much better weapons in the nexus and cheaply.

If you are looking for twinkage head to bazaar; although this piercer is probably good for new servers, despite the cost.

Gotta love it, name of the game Everquest... what do you do for the item? You pay for it...??? No wonder so many people are encouraged to twink and jut buy and sell between one another.

Also the advice on "ratio" is good, dont get me wrong, but main damage effects backstabs. Id love an 11/22 on my pvp rogue. Currenyl I have the 13/29 ??? picks? i think thats the ratio.

anyways, as said before 500p you can get a lot of nice items.

Good, but not great.

Rozzut's Whistler is a 2 Ratio, TRWSpear is 2.538. Ratio is important at your level... HOWEVER!

Rozzut's Whistler costs at LEAST 500pp, and you can get similar weapons for the same price that AREN'T no drop (so you can get some of your money back when you're done)

Other 2ish Ratio Piercers:

Trakasaur's Tooth
Shaded Dagger
Crystalline Spider Fang
Blood Point
Hardened Bone Spear

All these run from about 300-1500pp (depending on server), and that's a small list. My advice is to save your money and make a quick trip to the bazaar. Open Bazaar window, select your race, class, slot, and type and hit search. Sort by price and see what you can afford.

If you're in to questing, go do it and have fun, but if you're looking for a weapon, you'll save yourself a good amount of time by taking that 500pp and buying something from the Bazaar.

The guy you need to see in BB is at the first house once you zone in from the POK book, when running towards Kaladim. just figured i would post this for others info, so they didn't have to run around like I did.

This is very true. I traveled into the mines using sneak and hide as a 43 Rogue. I found only 1 slave in the whole zone. He was close to where the sleeping ogre spawns. Me and a 39 necro owned his **** and he dropped the frontier ore the first time!!! I was a happy rogue.

Their baaaaaack! And VI put these babieson steroids, too! Stupid little penguins con'd yellow at level 43! They hit for 80-120 hp. I popped one with a 200+ hp backstab and it barely moved the health bar. My 43 rogue and a 54 druid got our butts handed to us on a plate! Very social, unsnareable, unharmonizable, unrootable and they pass the hate list to any other slave in the area of a football field. We didn't get to find out if they drop the ore. We were too busy with CR's.

heh, so the slaves are in the 40s now, and they drop ore rarely? Why not just buy a shadded dagger in bazaar for about 500-1k.

Well, I got my guild together. 2 groups with avg level of 50. 2 warriors, 2 chanters, 2 clerics, 1 mage, 2 rogues, 1 paladin, 1 monk. We whooped those slave over and over. We must have dropped 12 of those Burynai slaves in what turned out to be some pretty tough fights. Everyone enjoyed it. No Frontier Ore dropped. Just those stupid little mining picks. At least the guild smiths got some Deathsteel smithing stuff from the gobos.

Bah. Stupid.

Back when I got my RW, I could have soloed this thing and all his little Pokemon-esque friends with that damn 2hb Shovel they drop.

To up this mob is ridiculous. I put my RW in the bank, cause after I got a Bloodpoint, it's not that great. 500pp for the quest, on top of port fees, time spent doing the crap, etc... (that's 500pp wasted, because it's NoDrop, and you can't sell it back when you get something better) you might as well save up a little more cash and buy another piercer. The Bazaar is making incredible deals show up because competition is so huge.

This quest was a pain in the *** before the recent "Slave Buffing" because the ore didn't drop consistantly. If I hit for 80-120 and had 5khp, I wouldn't be anyone's slave... this is just dumb.

# Aug 02 2002 at 6:11 PM Rating: Decent
Think there is any way to pickpocket it, from what i read befor esome no drop stuff can be pp'd ??
RE: pp it
# Aug 03 2002 at 4:08 PM Rating: Decent
Tried that today. Can't pickpocket something that isn't there though. Problem still is you have to make the Burynai slaves spawn and that only happens if you kill other slaves. Killed slaves for 6 hours today, to include another 10 or so Burynai. Still no ore. I'm beginning to wonder whether or not it's dropping at all. Certainly rarer drop than the gem if it is dropping.
Slaves
# Aug 02 2002 at 3:56 PM Rating: Decent
After spending a number of hours in the mines today, several things are clear--this is no longer a trivail task and one mid-40s rogue isn't going to get it done. I had no difficulty killing slaves with a 55 mage and 49 druid, and a second time with a 57 cleric, 47 warrior and 46 rogue. The slaves have about 4K hitpoints. They are located one apiece in the first 2 slave pits. In the third pit, there are 5 slaves and a "weakened" slave. I never could break the third room because it is impossible to single pull. That means you have to tank at least 2 at a time. What makes it difficult is the fact that the slaves are TOTALLY magic resistant. No snare, root, nuke or dot sticks. After killing 6 burynai and about another 10 sarnak or iksar slaves, I still have no ore for the effort so I cannot confirm that the ore is, in fact, dropping. BTW, the weakened slave is the strongest of the lot. :-)

# Aug 02 2002 at 11:07 AM Rating: Decent
spent last 2 nights in the mines, i can confirm that there are slaves in there, i am a 45 rogue and a 60 enchanter killed one for me that was in a room by himself with other slaves but none burynai, so the slaves are there now. He did not drop the ore surprise surprise, i talked with 3 other players in the zone who have killed like 300 goblins since the patch and have not seen any of the frontier ore drop, so killing goblins will not get the ore. As for the burynai slaves does the ore only drop at a certain place on the map. I know from sneaking around in there i have seen 2 of them in seperate spots surrounded by goblins and other slaves, From what someone told me there should be a spot with like 6 of them in there. I would really like to know where ishould look for this t odrop, i got the other pieces and this is the last one, i petitioned a gm and a guide told me from what he knew that the ore was not nerfed he said i was having bad luck. If someone finds out other wise please post thanks

They are back if you need them. BTW they are dark blue to level 60, not sure if they were that high before? There were different races of slaves, I only killed a lizard one. But the mole ones are there too, so I assume the ores drop off them.

When VI added the drop for Deathsteel Ore they removed the Burynai Slave spawn that dropped the Frontier Ore. Hopefully, they will fix it soon. Until then you cannot complete the quest. A variety of substitute items have been tried (including the new Deathsteel Ore) with no success (and the dwarven smith keeps the 500pp too!)

I spent two weeks trying to do the quest. I have killed hundreds of goblins and no slaves spawn at all. No Goblin, Iksar or Burynai slaves would spawn. Patience is not one of my qualities

I just spent the last 2 days, back in the slave area killing goblins, trying to get the Burnyai Slaves to spawn and nothing. Made some good cash and got a couple of descent drops.
I'd say that Verant needs to fix the zone because they aren't spawning anymore.
I can't seem to find the ore
# Jul 10 2002 at 9:42 AM Rating: Default
I can walk up and down nurga mines, I know the zone like the back of my hand. I haven't seen any burynai miners. I checked EQmaps where the burynai miners are found and i go there, but none are found. I checked with my druid and i couldnt even find any on tracking... I seek help here. Has the quest been removed from the game?

I've done this quest resently ) and the ore does drop, i had to kill a lot tho so just be patient. Kill all the gobo slaves and iksar slaves the burynai will spawn and the ore is not a common drop. GL
And remember to be lvl 40 before you try the quest!!! It doesn't work otherwise.

Was down there last night and was all through the place and there were no gob slaves or iksar slaves to b found. Only thing i did see were a lot of gob slavedrivers. Do you need to kill them to get slaves to spawn? I would love any help u can give thanks.

Me and a friend spend all night in the mines in the slave areas and didn't find 1 burynai, so I guess it is true what is going on, no more mole men. I hope they will return so I can finish the quest. I did pick up shroud of nature while there, so it wasn't a total lose, but still seemed a waste of my time. =(((
Plans Changed

The plans for this from Sneakyfeet in FV now read that the ore drops in a mine filles with warring goblins, some goblins keep it close to them.

Also notice that the last time this was modified was on Wed Apr 10 10:17:35 2002.....

and the posts have never had a problem till JUNE 12th which is when the latest Patch to date has been

therefore it is most logically to be assumed that the patch messed with the Quest... this will be fixed within the next patch..

UNTILL then SPAM the GM's Chatrooms and Tech e-mail addresses untill it is fixd...

that should fix those lazy **** GMs into fixing the problem.. Should also teach them not to F*** with us rogues!
the ever so talked... ore

yup the ore doesn't drop.. gah. my rogue and a friend's rogue went there and basicly killed every goblin in the burynai pit and found NOTHING! Also waited for the spawns a couple of times and found NOTHING! I hope Verant fixes this quest soon... when I actually get off my lazy **** to do a quest it gets nerfed, how bad luck is that? lol peace all

Spent 2 hours last nite with my guild hunting the Mines of Nurga looking for Frontier Ore. No penguins. No ore. Only the Deathsteel Ore used for the new smithing recipes. You cannot complete the quest without the ore. Somebody send VI a nasty-gram. I will.

whats up with this quest?
Last night, a group of us hit the mines to get the ore, and guess what, there is no ore. Not only that, but for the 2 hours that we spent in the dark, there wasnt a single burnyai slave on the track! If this quest is defunct, please post a message. The only ore i found was some type of steel ore that i looted off a dead goblin. If this is the right stuff let me know.
BROKEN
# Jun 17 2002 at 4:23 AM Rating: Decent
If you read nothing else, read this.
Deathsteel ore is not the new component to this quest.

Well I read everyones posts and decided to give the quest a try with the "Brick of Deathsteel Ore" that is now dropping in Nurga. I gave the dorf in Butcher block the gem of nibleness, the deathsteel ore and 500 beautiful platinum pieces. He took all the components, but didn't like the ore. I read through all the npc information personally <i.e. ran to everyone and said what I should say and everything matched what this quest description says to the letter, there just is no more frontier ore that I could see. So in actual fact, the quest may still work but the deathsteel ore that is dropping in nurga IS NOT the new component.
