You say, 'Hail, Megosh Thistlethorn'
Megosh Thistlethorn says 'Greetings Connun! I am Megosh Thistlethorn first Ranger of the Storm Reapers of Rivervale. I journeyed many years ago to the Surefall Glade far to the west of our lovely shire. It was there I trained with the human and half-elven rangers that like the Storm Reapers are faithful disciples of Karana. I have returned now to Rivervale to teach our interested young people the ways of a ranger of the Storm Lord, so that we may defend our shire and the wilds of Norrath from the [evil forces] that would see it destroyed. ' You say, 'what evil forces' Megosh Thistlethorn says 'Currently the Death Fist Clan of Orcs, a race of bloodthirsty humanoids concerned only with expanding their territory and slaughtering all who stand in their path, threatens our homeland. The Orcs have long had a minor presence in the Misty Thicket but lately they have been amassing in greater numbers. The Death Fist has been chopping down our trees and quarrying rock from the nearby mountains. We know only that they have been shipping the materials to the commonlands and stockpiling it for what purpose we do not know. As rangers of the Storm Reapers it is our duty to [stop the desecration] of the thicket. ' You say, 'I will stop the desecration' Megosh Thistlethorn says 'First you must outfit yourself for battle with the Death Fists. Seek Bipdo Hargin here in Rivervale and give him this letter. He will instruct you further on getting yourself outfitted for the tasks ahead. Once you have been outfitted in a suit of Thorn Mail Armor return to me and I will instruct you for your [next task]. ' Your Location is -222.35, -71.61, -21.81 Hand Bipdo the note Megosh gave you Bipdo Hargin says 'Pleased to meet you Connun! You must be one of Megosh's new trainees. Megosh has asked me to help get you outfitted in a suit of armor to protect you from the vile weapons of Rivervales foes. I have assembled a kit for you that will allow you to construct the armor pieces once you have gathered the necessary components. The required components vary according to which piece of Thorn Mail armor you are planning on assembling. Do you wish to craft a [thorn mail coif], a [thorn mail bracer], [thorn mail gloves], [thorn mail boots], [thorn mail sleeves], [thorn mail leggings], or a [thorn mail tunic]. ' You say, 'I wish to craft a thorn mail tunic' Bipdo Hargin says 'To assemble a Thorn Mail Tunic you will require four [silk thread], pristine thorn drakeling scales, a giant fruit bat rib cage, and a giant fruit bat fur. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Mail Assembly Kit with this Tattered Tunic Pattern. ' | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Entopop and his little Amber came half way across a zone to ks a Drakling I was about to put down. NOW that sux. I suggest leading your Drakling (when you do get one) toward the nearest edge, then snare him.
Also, I've noticed after several weeks of trying to get this set of armor that when there are a lot of younglings in the zone (druids mostly) killing stuff, the Drakling spawn rate jumps dramatically--from 2 per hour to 6 or more--so the previous posting about killing stuff to make the Thorn Draklings appear makes sense.
You flamers are losers of the worst kind.

Good luck to all of the rangers out there.
Goodbye Everquest forever.
I think that the anonymous poster is correct in that this quest needs to be altered to make it easier

I have seen them drop
Think Im gonn ask my guild to pull in several warriors and monks, and clear the friggen zone for all the newbies announcing all the silly drops. (hehe)
If you are familiar with the post 50 raid scene you KNOW that many tanks are shrunk IF that is and option and wolfed out if it is an option, WHY to get as MANY of the BIG fat tanks around the mobs as is possible. Economy sized tanks are a GOOD thing.
And as far as short not being able to kick fanny. ONE name YODA, nuff said. Hug your short neighbors today.
I just recently completed the bard newbie armor quests and believe me, it is so much simpler than what rangers have to put up with. Picture 15 rangers in the thicket, all with tracking, ks'ing each other for the drops. That is what it is turning out to be.
To get a whole set of bard armor, the hardest thing to get is the drop off the wisps and that may be 1-15. Not 1-120 or more for our ribcage.
I spent probably 24 hours of playtime over the weekend killing every giant fruit bat and thicket rat and have one pelt to show for it. My feet are cold and I need my boots. BP will probably not happen unless I get really lucky.
At least my tracking is maxed. Only bad thing about that is I can track all the way across the zone it seems only to have someone else kill what I am tracking before I get there! Ho hum!
Good luck to you all in your quests.

no point in making em if you cant get the armor
Scaleyman 30 warrior
Laucian 15 rogue
Tonnun 10 druid
4 silk thread
pristine thorn drakeling scales (tried with one and also with two)
a giant fruit bat rib cage
a giant fruit bat fur

I even tried moving the things around in the kit
the response I got, "can't combine these items in this ... "
What's up with that? anyone have the solution?
I'd greatly appreciate an answer, thank you!

Does anyone else think this makes your Ranger look like a Leprechaun?
And to make it even better/worse,the spawn rates on the Thorn Drakelings is most heinous. The other mobs spawn more often, but refer back to the ASTOUNDINGLY low drop rates.
Hehe, otherwise pretty straightforward.
So far its just paid to be out there earning your xp and keep checking track for the mobs you need, otherwise you're going to pull your hair out and go nuts 8)
And yes, almost all the components needed off the mobs are NO DROP. So leave your main at home:)
Good luck on all these HLF racial/class armors !
