Speak with Trooper Vaurk in the Lake of Ill Omen, about halfway bewteen Cabilis and the lake shore, at loc 4575.60, -3095.45.

You say, 'Hail, Trooper Vaurk'

Trooper Vaurk says 'Have you been sent by the War Baron to [assist]? The explorers from Firiona Vie draw closer. '

You say, 'i am here to assist'

Trooper Vaurk says 'That is good, I will stay here to halt any advances. Head out near the lake and destroy the trespassers on our land! Bring me four of their knives that they carry for survival. Prove your allegiance to the Legion of Cabilis. '

Not far from Trooper Vaurk is a large yellow tower, which was previously uninhabited. It is now occupied with about 6 explorers and a lead explorer.

The explorers were extremely green to a level 51, had about 600 hit points.

You have slain an explorer!
Your faction standing with Firiona Vie got worse.
Your faction standing with Emerald Warriors got worse.
Your faction standing with Storm Guard got worse.
Your faction standing with Legion Of Cabilis could not possibly get any better.
Your faction standing with Pirates Of Gunthak got better.

The lead explorer was a paladin, LoHed himself, and took quite a bit more killing, although still a pushover for a 51 warrior.

You have slain a lead explorer!

The explorers dropped ringmail armor, food items, and the occasional Explorer Survival Knife (stackable). They aggroed on me thru the walls of the tower even though I was a reasonable distance away, so lower level players should be careful to avoid the tower.

Give the knives to Trooper Vaurk (I did not stack them):

Trooper Vaurk says 'Great work, the Legion of Cabilis will not soon forget your dedication. The trespassers shall all be dealt with. '
Your faction standing with Legion Of Cabilis could not possibly get any better.
Your faction standing with Cabilis Residents got better.
Your faction standing with Scaled Mystics got better.
Your faction standing with Crusaders Of Greenmist got better.
Your faction standing with Swift Tails got better.
You gain experience!!

Iksar illusion does help faction

I can confirm that illusion: Iksar DOES improve your faction with Trooper Vaurk - you just have to do a lot (read: ton) of faction work BEFORE putting on the illusion. I collected 290 explorer knives on my Drakkin SK (roughly 1200 kills of the explorers) and was still KoS. When I put on the illusion, I immediately went to Dubious. After a few turn ins, I maxed my faction with Legion of Cabilis, which was Kindly when I was wearing the illusion, and dubious without it.

EDIT: I can also confirm that these knives are MQable, so if you're trying to get your factioning out of the way early on a newbie toon, and you've got a high level toon you don't mind destroying your FV/SG/EW faction, you can loot three times as many knives on the high level toon, and turn them in in sets.

Assuming, that even as a Drakkin necro, your deity is still Veeshaan. Illusions somehow do not hide your deity. Iksar are known not to like dragons, due to the shuffle with Trakanon. Thats the reason you are still KOS with them.

Had 72 knives on my ogre beastlord(Rallos Zek) and previously handed in about 5 stacks of knoves. Did another 72 this evening and went from Scowling to Dubious o the Crusaders(SK's). I also had accidentally killed the alchemist in OT twice, and the one monk in FM once. Am doing another 2-3 stacks tonight to hopefully reach indifferent.

OK, here's the lowdown for my factioning experience. Playing my 51 Troll CT worshiping shaman I had never done anything to effect my iksar factions when i started. Took me about 5 hours to farm 10 stacks of knives. At that point I was still threateningly to the Legion of Cabilis so i went and destroyed Sarnak at the fort for an hour or so -- killed my way into the chancelor's room and took his Prod (need it for the HS key anyway to finish most of the ikky quests)> After that I was dubious to the legion. After turning in 3 stacks of knives i was max positive warmly faction with the legion. I turned in the other 7 stacks before i checked the other factions. When i did check I was amiable. My guess is that with another 2 stacks at most I would be max positive with the shaman monk SK guilds. Now I just have to go farm the outcast iksar types so the Necro's like me too. =P
RE: Great Faction

I've been doing Iksar Faction for the last couple of days only for my Shaman, a Troll worshipping Innoruuk, and I am currently at Kindly to the Scaled Mystics in Troll form -- I can get all the Cudgel quest text from the NPCs, containers etc.

I had done nothing to hurt Cabilis factions, and not much to raise them either, before I started. (I used a different character to kill Digalis for the skull in FM).

I camped 8 stacks of Explorer Knives. This left me at Threatening to Trooper Vaurk in LoIO. I then used 1 dose of Essence of Iksar (all I could find in the Bazaar), which took me to Warmly with him. I then handed in 17 sets of 4 explorer knives which took me to the maximum faction with the Legion of Cabilis (he considers me an Ally). I continued to hand in the knives, but I did not get any '... could not possibly get any better' messages for the remaining factions.

At this point, became invisible and headed toward the entrance to Cabilis, where I targetted Crusader Deezin, moved well away, and became visible. In Iksar form, he is warmly towards me. Removing the Illusion reduced my faction with him to Dubious - non-KoS, but not good enough. (At this point, the Legion of Cabilis Troopers consider me Warmly even in Troll form).

I returned to the Explorers, and farmed another 2 stacks of knives. After handing these in, I was considered Indifferently by the Crusaders. I did one more Stack for good measure, and reached Amiable with them. I was now able (with invisibility to avoid the Brood of Kotiz faction NPCs) to enter the Scaled Mystic Guildmasters. Since I was able to get the earlier quests, I decided to check directly with Zand and proclaimed 'I am the Chosen Saviour' -- and to my delight, he did not tell me to get lost.

Nevertheless, since some of the components I need for the Quest will be MQ'd, I decided to do the Penance Quest twice -- this took me to Kindly. (Say "Yes" to Zand to start this -- It doesn't take all that long to do the Penance quest - buff your DEX and Haste yourself, and /duel a high level melee type and stand behind him for a while... with your awesome melee prowess, and the crappy hammer, their natural Regen will generally vastly outpace the damage you do, and you can even go AFK a bit, the bone fragments will collect on your hammer till you drop them into your inventory -- put the Grotesque Mortar in the first slot and it will fill up automatically).

Here is my estimate of the Faction gains:
+1 Legion of Cabilis per explorer, sarnak, goblin or outcast kill
+100 Legion of Cabilis per 4 knives
+20 Scaled Mystics/Crusaders of Greenmist/Swif Tails per 4 knives
+? Citizens of Cabilis (much less than 20, possibly only 5) per 4 knives
+100 Scaled Mystics (or whatever) per Penance Quest

(From previous work, the corresponding number is +1 to each of the above per 4 bone chips given to Trooper Mozo).

Word of warning: I have not yet fixed Brood of Kotiz faction (Necros) so beware Grype in the Tink'n'Babble at night; also, the BANKERS are on some other faction, PROBABLY Cabilis Citizens, but are STILL at Threatening, so I will either have to do more faction work, or do my banking in PoK.

Illusion: Iksar is worth about +1000 points (while it lasts) -- or considered the other way, any form other than an Iksar that worships Cazic Thule is a -1000 penalty, but since even other Cazic worshipping characters are still KoS, I suspect it's split something like -750 non-Iksar and -250 non-Cazic.

So, basic advice, farm 11-12 stacks of Explorer Knives, get a single dose of Essence of Iksar, and head over to Trooper Vaurk.

You all are just lazy in my opinion. But is lowers this faction or it lowers that faction. Do the research look around some. Doing this quest lowers the following factions.
· Emerald Warriors
· Firiona Vie
· Storm Guard

Now look at the factions and where they are.
Emerald Warriors:
That is the Elves faction for wood elves. What raises that faction. Crush!! All the orcs there raise that faction. The Aqua Goblins in Ocean of Tears, Lake Rathetear, Butcherblock Mountains raise it also.

Storm Guard:
WOW the same goblins that your killing to raise the woodelf faction raises this faction. ALSO what about CRUSH??? That raises this faction also.

So that is 2 factions raised just by killing mobs under the level of 20 and it is the same mobs.

Now for Firiona Vie:
Any goblin in Kunark will raise your Firiona Vie faction and most of them will also raise your Legion of Cabilis faction also. And you want to know something….. they are under level 20 also.

So if your going to raise factions do the research and don’t give up as there is a way around everything. You just have to be willing to work at it. Yea work at it.
Good luck

Fortunately we now have a trick to use to get around TLC. As long as you're a part of a raid, TLC will never take effect. So create a raid with a friend while they go into trader mode in the bazaar, make sure you have looting privledges, and go farm the explorers or whatever else you please.

As a Barb Shammy of Tribunal Faith I wanted badly to do the Cabilis Shammy quests seeing how nice they are. Yesterday while trying to collect quest items in PoK for me alts at the Gobby fort in WW I went back to FoB on way to PoK book and noticed I was Dubious to Troopers! Woot! Never thought I would ever see that! Well I have like 3 ten slot packs of bone chips but after hearing how many it would take and how slow now I opted for this quest. When I began slaughtering the explorers with my pet (I am lvl 52 BTW) I was Warmly to them. After doing this for perhaps 3 or 4 hours (and they respawn very quickly, like 3 or 4 min spawn) I dropped down to amiable in Fir.
"Speak with Trooper Vaurk in the Lake of Ill Omen, about halfway bewteen Cabilis and the lake shore, at loc 4575.60, -3095.45."
Now when I went to turn in the knives I looked for him there and was nowhere in sight! I logged on my druid to track him and as it turned out He was at this Loc! But He was walking on the roof of the four piller ruins next to the hill. So to get him down I blasted him and Ran for me Life (me druid is barely lvl 29)then gated. Logged on my shammy again and he had walked back to the spot but now on the ground.
Now after turning in two stacks of these knives However, I went from Dubious to Indif tho it says I am Max ally with Legions of Cabilis now? Is it Possible to improve it more even tho it says "it can't possibly be any better"? I need Scaled Mystics Faction the most though but was Curious?

I have several friends that have done this quest to raise faction. They said once they got max on one of the factions you get from this one, you have to drop that particular faction, so you can continue to get faction improvements. Seems weird to me, but that is what they have done, and are now on amiable to most. Hope this helps.

That bug for raising faction was fixed maybe 2 years ago. The issue is that you cannot always max your faction at ally. If you are a tunare worshipping woodelf (for example) your max faction in Iksar land might be indifferent or maybe amiable. I have maxxed my Iksar faction with the North Freeport Paladins and Clerics (I get the "your faction cannot get any better" message) and I am not ally ( might be at kindly ).

It is possible that not all Iksar factions are limited this way. You might be able to hit Ally with Troopers but I know Scaled Mystics are more skeptical.

ALL, i repeat, ALL of the explorers in FV near the city see invis, getting KOS there would be a bad idea if you still travel that way. On a side note, it would take a half elf a LONG time to get the faction to do this quest, getting enough faction to be dubious at 42 would be bizarre, much less the amount of faction to do this quest.

Not true. You only need to be non-kos to Trooper Vaurk (Legion of Cabilis) to hand in the knives. Like the bonechips, only UNLIKE the bone chips, you don't have KOS crusaders wandering nearby making things more difficult.

I had my level 22 monk in lake of ill omen, and he came across this tower, i thought it was the goblin tower and ran past it on my way to cab so i could bank. Couple seconds later, i've got 6 mobs on me, and they were all blue. FD'd and waited tell all but one were left, so i killed him to see what the faction hits were, knowing that FV would never like me anyway, i thought why not. So i kill him and get good exp off the kills. I've camped the tower for a week, just solo and made 100pp selling the ringmail drops, and such, and collected 24 of the knives. So i went to turn them in, and i checked my exp bar. My lord does the exp suck for handing them in, but the faction for Cab went through the roof. So now i'm going to just have my main, and my monk sitting there and monk will kill and main will loot. This way i can gain faction and just walk through cab whenever i feel like it with my main.

Just one flaw, (assuming your main has Legion of Cabilis faction up to non-kos) the Brood of Kotiz. The necromancers. There are lizards on necro faction just outside the bank, in Tink-n-Babble and supposedly throughout (with logic, none the less) Western Cabilis.

Just a thought,
faction hits with cab
# May 04 2002 at 5:50 AM Rating: Default
killing Iksar Bandits, Sarnak (anything), and goblin (anything) will raise cab faction. However, it is as difficult to get faction with iksar as it is for iksar to get faction with the other races (i.e. very difficult, though not impossible). As an iksar monk, I got a port and invis to bb and got a sow to run my scaly self to cb and went from 12-15 and STILL KOS in kel. Of course, that could also be due to religion as ALL iksar worship casic-thule (so if you're a necro or SK, you might not have as many problems as say a pally or ranger).
this quest is really dumb in my opinion. Iksars who are trying to go somewhere else without being KOS need to avoid it because ANY neg faction hit is bad and the only ones who can do the quest are iksars (unless you have already gone and done the whole kill gobies and sarnak in which case, keep doing it) who don't need those faction hits. if you REALLY want a quest that'll get you faction, try the scorp pincers quest in FoB or the bone chip quest, also in FoB, they don't have neg fac hits.

These knives are for sale in the west valley in Rathe Mountains.

From the central bug pillar go straight west into the valley. There is a tower with Shiznak and Gruilka on the south side of this valley, the merchants are near the north wall, and the Z bugs are at the west end of the valley.

The merchants are an ogress and two trolls. I expect they will not sell to most good characters (they would not sell to a barbarian shaman).

I believe the knives are sold by the middle merchant, a troll. The knives are no drop, stackable, all all, no stats. The price was about 6 silver for an ogre with indifferent faction and 42 charisma.

I have not tried to buy them in vast quantities, so I don't know if there is an unlimited supply.

Nope..can be done as early as the mid 20s. North Freeport, kill orcs. E/W FP..turn in orc ears in Highpass, which also gives qeynos corrupted factoin, while your collecting those ears you'll gain HK faction(from killing orcs). Good qeynos factions, gnoll slaughter, also brings up Halas. Neriak, wine quest in third gate (need some help, or a lot of patience for this). Kelethin/Kaladim, CB orcs. Rivervale..goblins.

None of these are that hard..granted it WILL take some time... also it's hard to balance neriak and kelethin out..but it *can* be done by level 25..i've done it.

Haha,

Take a look at the other factions that get blown by killing the explorers. People who use this quest to raise Cabilis faction will be shooting themselves in the foot regarding 3 other factions. Welcome to the wonderful world of Shunned Iksars. Granted, they still wont be hated the whole world over like lizards are, but it's a step in that direction. I find it very appropriate that they should lose other fairly valuable factions through this quest. (yes, i realize there are ways around dealing with these specific factions, but it's a start :) )

Religion will keep Cabilis dangerous for many non-Iksars even if faction is not a problem. My level 31 Eurdite Enchanter Agnostic has learned through trial and error that even with Illusion Iksar, the Benevolance spell and no unfavorable factions that he can still be KOS in parts of Cabilis since npcs can "see" that he is not of their religion. Illusion Iksar, etc. is sufficient to use the bank and many merchants, but it doesn't protect him if he gets too close to some of the more religious guild trainers. If he's in their aggro range, they will charge out onto the streets of Cabilis and try to kill him.

Even if faction is enough to get a non-Iksar past the guards and into Cabilis, there are still other problems to be dealt with.

Killing sarnaks and gobbo's will only raise faction with the Legion of Cabalis, the warriors of cabalis...there are other types of guards in cabalis, namely shadowknights...and if they see you and you haven't turned in 5 billion bonechips or survival knives they'll happily use a harm touch on ya, reguardless of illusion or mask.

Guildmasters etc also need faction raised with bonechips.

If travelling through cabalis as an enchanter i'd put illusion up, invis on, and stick to the water...i watched in horror and slight humor as an enchanter friend of mine was instantly struck dead by a harm touch while turning in bonechips for the faction quest and didn't see the coming crusader. He was 39 FYI, took one hit =p

It's possible that you didn't run into the right (and by right, I mean wrong, lol) NPC's. An agnostic DE enchanter friend, with illusion iksar, was dispatched pretty quickly by the Crusaders while we were selling the stuff from a Kaesora group. He was fine selling, but Quarg happened to walk past, and he was history. [:frown]

Every time after that, I would just locate Quarg before we went to sell (he's the only roamer who'll come upstairs, to my knowledge). Haven't had a problem with him since then.

Admittedly, I take a kind of perverse pleasure in the security of Cabilis, lol.

I dont know if you realize just how difficult it is for other "soft-skins" to get into your city. I have killed Iksar/Goblins constantly trying to build up faction for hours on end and had no progress whatsoever. If you took some time to think about it, you would realize that this was just something to spice up your little area for the mid 20's peeps to do with a small group. I think they should add more stuff like this into the game, because it gives you something to do. This isn't just a way to build up faction, because chances are that the trooper that gives the quest would aggro on anyone who hadn't taken the time to build up some faction. You are supposed to be stuck to your city, it's your job to hate everyone else, if you are choosing to role-play. Anywho, I'll stop rambling on....

more importantly, outcast iksar give faction with the Brood of Kotiz (Cabilis necromancers), something the gobbies and sarnaks don't.
