This starts in the Rogue Guild

Pazin Punox wants Lil Honeybugger dead and promises a "king's reward" for her head. She lives in Misty Thicket in the Halfling territory just outside of town. Unfortunately, she rooms with her big brother Joogl Honeybugger who never seems to leave her side, and he is probably around level 10 or so. Since you need to be below this level to get the quest, you had better get some help in killing her. When you kill Lil, she drops a halfling head (which is what you're supposed to bring back to Paziu Puno for your "kings reward"), a bandage (so you can reverse the faction hit you take from killing Lil by giving it to Joogl later), and a Case of Jum Jum Juice (lore item)(which I guess you can give to the treant). Here's where this quest gets funny. After sneaking/hiding through Rivervale and making the run back to Neriak, you need to give the halfling head to Pazin Punox. He then tells you something to the effect of "Foolish young elf. This was no contract from King Naythox. I wanted Lil Honeybugger killed before she gave birth to my child. Only a naive dark elf would set foot in Halfling territory. Here's your great reward, garbage from other guild exploits."

You say, 'Hail, Pazin Punox'

Pazin Punox squints as you approach, 'What? How... how did you? How did you learn the dark art? That's impossible!'

You say, 'Who is Lil Honeybugger?'

Pazin Punox says, 'Actually, it is a woman. In the Misty Thicket, within the protection of its walls, there is a honeycomb collector named Lil Honeybugger. She is the one who creates the special life-giving honey jum for the halflings. The king has called upon us to contract an assassin to [teach Lil a lesson].'

You say, 'teach Lil a lesson'

Pazin Punox says, 'I suppose you shall do. The King has commanded me to pay a great reward upon completion of this task. All you need to do is find your way to the Misty Thicket and then into the halfling territory beyond the Great Wall. Next, seek out Lil Honeybugger. She lives with her brother in a mound far from the other little people. Return her head to me and the king's reward is yours.'

New response after handing in the head

Pazin Punox says, 'Ha! silly youth. This was no order from King Naythox. I wished the death of this halfling woman because her brother Joogl slighted me . Only a naive young rogue would dare set foot in halfling territory. Here is your great reward, rubbish collected from Mask activities! Now, go away!'

Attempting to get the quest trigger. I finally asked who Honeybugger was. There should be a response from him that he is seeking a young rogue to take care of a small problem. That seems to be missing now

I think its great. You know, like in mortal combat, a womans true powers only come out when half naked and out to battle evil. Ohhhh yea. Its like sex and fireball tossing is a huge turn on. I cant wait for fully naked virtual reality mud wrestling. Or possibly a pervert stalking game....

Ok ok... Im posting for shock value. You have a choice what you play, and what your exposed to. You have a choice in responding to stimuli and enviroment. Just as that guy loked his kid in a closet, you may be just as bad to attack a stupid video game. Your responce to stiumulus is a bit... extreem.

Most of these people that blow their brains out over EQ or what not are F*$&ing loosers to begin with. They were never loved enough as a child or whatever / they dont know a responsible life or real from fantasy.

D&D had the problem, Pokemon, EQ, ETC. I remember when Virtual reality was a term talked about like science fiction. They talked as it was a brain washing candy coated in a game. To SOME extent I aggree. They are highly addictive,a nd with a first person feel, they can be down right scary.

Any fad, or popular thing has this problem. its how you REACT and handle yourself. I kind aggree, if you dont AGREE with the image why are you playing the game? and even more so why waste time her posting.

In reality I believe a woman to be as self sufficent and powerful, and inteligent as a man. They have their qualities we have ours. Yes much of there power is in nurturing, a healing and creative nature. But also in their beauty and sexual presence. Seductive and so on. So they just keep churning that over and over untill its tasteless.

I mean hell, Im not gonna get graphic. but a Dwarf standing around a bunch of loin cloth half-elf females... is a happy dwarf indeed. Honesty, if I had a kid, I would not let him play this game untill he was at LEAST 13-16ish and understood it was fantasy. and most likely not even then, because of school.

I HATE when people post stuff that has nothing to do with the board, but this was a good debate. Its interesting to see this view on eq, but its NOT a life choice for me. And its sad when it is.

McDonnald's makes me sick, and Ms.Packman *IS* sexy... Wacka wacka

Chris

Yes the Little HoneyBugger Quest was 'real' quest. She was a halfling pregnet with a DE child so the DE wants her killed, and for her head he gives you junk and tells you that you are a child to have believed him and stupid to have gone into halfling territory so young. Plus you took a faction hit and I dont think you could 'fix' it with a bandage..but may be wrong. Its been a long time.
There was also a human female being held in the downstairs room of the Neriak whorehouse (not called that in game but suggested none the less).
I mean it had honest-to-God Orgre lapdancers on the bar..you hail and they said 'pay me and I'll dance for you....ewwwww'.
I did see the female prisioner, but could never get her to talk to me. She was the missing wife of the Qeynos forge owner I think. I dont know what that quest entailed, as never could get it started.
Agree with comment posted. Yes, it is an 18 plus game and should be played as such. Parents should think twice about letting kids play and should watch when they do. I dont mind watching my mouth in game but dislike getting my "wrist slapped' because im being an adult in an adult setting. It is just that, you dont know if the necro your grouped with is 10 or 50 in RL...so it pays to be cautious.
And this is also not a 'civilized'era...chivilous (spelling?)yes..civil no. After all, if you dont like someone, challange and duel him/her to death. Effective yes, but ah...
Excuse the spelling, late. But thought this was worth commenting to.
Bias?
# Apr 20 2002 at 3:10 AM Rating: Good
OK about this person complaining the game is gender biased. First off, its not really. Most quests involving someone killed in the game, assuming its something of gender and not some crocodile, are asking you to kill guys. Master Whoopal, that drunk dwarf in Qeynos, the *male* halflings in Nektulos that drop the beads for the Initiate quests. I am relativly new to Everquest and don't know many of the quests yet, but I'm sure there are more asking you to kill males.
Second, you made a comment about media bias. True there is media bias, but it is against Straight White Males. Black males are also biased in the media, but nowhere near to the same extent. During the Mathew Shepard tradgedy, where a young gay man was picked up by several straight males, and was tortured and murdered, the media had a field day covering it. A short while after that, two homosexual males kidnapped a young boy under the age of 13, tortured him for about ONE WEEK, and finally killed him. During this time they raped him... Now I do NOT have any sort of prejudice against anyone, especially not to homosexuals. Seeing as I am gay myself. But I think things have just gone WAY WAY WAY too far. People can't even run homeless food giveaways without being sued. The obese people of America now want to sue the fast food industry claiming places like McDonalds and Burger King are the reason they are fat. Know what I think? Nobody is forcing you to eat there. Too bad... so sad. Join a gym, get lypo suction, see your doctor about a health plan. MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE!

The Feminists, who originally wanted equal rights (and I was all for it), are now pushing for women superiority. And by doing this, they are actually hurting all women by doing this. They demanded laws to be set into place allowing them to sue if they are fired from a job, and to have many weeks off during child birth. Now if you are running your own business, and an equally qualified man and woman are both trying to get the same job, who would you hire? If you hire the man, and he turns out to be a slacker, you can fire him. If the woman turns out to be a slacker and you fire her, she can sue you *and will win* for gender bias. The man doesn't take 6 months out to have a baby and then expect to be paid while he is out.

I recently got into a fight with the gay kid from my grade (10th grade). He is one of those stereotypical gays thats extremely girly, and really flaunts his sexuality to the point of pissing people off at him. He was walking around after school one day with a recorder asking people their thoughts on homophobia (hating gays), and gays in general. I told him I didn't think homophobia was a big deal, and by making it a big deal he's not only hurting himself, but every other gay. People will actually start to hate the fact that you're gay simply because they think you will be like him and never let homophobia drop. Yes some people don't accept my choice... know what I think? ***** em! Move on with life... roll with the punches. I don't cry and whine about some stupid issue and never let it drop.

And the most rediculous thing is this lawsuit the black people are pushing. They want to be paid *tax* money for all those years they were in slavery, claiming that the white society of America has benefitted from it, and the only reason our economy is good right now is because of slavery. First off, this isn't true. The economy started to pick up during World War II, and slavery hadn't been around for about 200 years. Second off... were the people now suing ever a slave? Answer = no. Now, I'm at the age of 16, which means if this law ever passes, I'll be paying part of my money to the black people. Did I ever enslave anyone? Answer = NO! Do I agree with slavery? NO! I think slavery is horrible. And the worst part is, my mom is from Ireland, and my father is from Germany. So how could my ancestors have enslaved people if we lived 2000 miles away across a damn ocean? And that doesn't even touch on the subject about half black/half white people.

So next time you start to cry about unfairness and bias... PLEASE think about what you are saying first. And get all the facts straight. Sorry to have gone off on a tangent lol. Gonna go to sleep now. Goodnight everyone, and good luck.

I just killed Lil Honeybugger last night. She dropped nothing at all.

Faction hits for killing her:
- Merchants of Rivervale
- Deeppockets
- Guardians of the Vale
- Mayor Gubbin
+ Coalition of Tradefolk Illegal

These faction changes are easily reversed by giving bandages to Joogl. But again, without a head there's no quest so I think this one's gone.

You call Everquest "gender biased" yet you yourself can only name three quests that support your hasty generalization. Three quests out of 100+ is hardly enough to play judge and say Everquest is a game that seems to have a grudge against women.

Let me point this out, did you ever hear of the Trumpy Irontoe(spelling?) quest in Kaladim for the Bloodforge hammer? In that quest it is the guy who betrayed and dishonored the woman and summarily you are sent to take his head. If I were you (and if I had the time to search for other quests like this one) I, too, could easily say that Everquest is gender biased towards females and has a grudge against men.

My example and successful rebuttal of your arguments is not to prove you an idiot. I am just pointing out that these matters can cut both ways and that that people should just enjoy the game for what it is rather than look at such trivial issues as to whether or not Everquest has a problem with men or women or both.
Quest Removed?

I was reading this absurd article (cant remember where) about games (everquest was the focus) causing a bad influence on people. It had an article about this guy who was arrested for locking a screaming 3 year old in a closet so he could have some peace playing EQ was several hours or days can remember, pretty insane.. But anyways they attacked Verant in this article and one of the statements in the article was along these lines....

blah blah... there is even a quest where you assassinate a young halfling who is impregnated inorder to keep her from having the child... blah blahh.. Verant has since removed the quest.

Really wish i could remember where i saw that but I'm pretty sure this quest is not the same as it was before.

Personally I think the game should be rated Mature for people over 18 only and for dark races I would expect many quests of this nature, yeah its sick, but these are Dark Elves what do you expect

Completely real quest...never bothered with it when i was able to get exp for it but i can only think that there are more quests linked to this as the old King and queen of neriak story has never really been solved.....

Will need to look into it more.....

#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 15 2000 at 5:21 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Granted that this Quest is given by a Dark Elf (Rogue, isn't he?), the reason for him wanting her dead is just SICK, SICK, SICK. Very few parts of this game manage to remind me of the bad parts of real life in such a discomforting way. This reminds me of that (white) guy back east (Philadelphia, maybe?) who shot his wife while she was pregnant for the insurance money, then tried to blame it on "some black guy" (which caused a lot of people to be stopped and hassled by cops for *nothing*). I'm not saying it should be taken out of the game, or that I'm too sensitive to play it, but DAMN. "Violence against women and children in the media", anyone? EQ is kind of biased in this sense; you have this quest, you have the whole "Happy Love Bracers" soap-opera (where it's all "the female"'s fault), and you have the Tayla Ironforge Quest (broken) which involves what would have been called "white slavery" and forced prostitution in Real Life. On the other hand... all males of all races aren't KoS on Sister Island, and maybe they should be *g*. Oh, well, at least the guy who has his pregnant gf killed is a BAD guy.

You really need can't compare real life morals to Everquest morals. In real life, someone killing anyone for any reason is considered sick. Doesn't matter what gender or any other quality of the person. Of course in EQ, killing is the basic goal. Two completely different environments with two completely different codes of ethics.

Also, you talk about how EQ has too much violence towards women in EQ. This happens all the time in game any time a female PC gets agroed by a mob. Is there something wrong with this? Do you think Verant should put in a code so that females can't be agroed by mobs to stop what you call a "bias against women"? Unlike real life, there is no stereotype in EQ that says women are innocent little defenseless people. When you attack Lil Honeybugger, you can expect her to fight back as well as any EQ man. (Personally, I disagree with that RL stereotype, but you must admit that it exists.)

My point is, try not to view things as Male vs. Female, both in Everquest and in real life. Instead, try to just see a human being.

If you dont like what the game "promotes"...go play your happy games, like Pac-Man, or Pong....nobody gets whacked there, no bad feelings towards women (unless you consider Ms. Pac-Man gender biased, or explicit, yknow, that whole bow thing on her head...kinda does it for me *OMG*). You are the kind of person that would write nasty letters to Game creators that they didnt put any women in the NFL or NHL games, and for that they should be banned...sheesh....

maybe next time, you should have the woman kill the guy in order to keep him from giving birth...
would that be pleasing to the gender bias?
RE: Sick, sick, sick
# Jul 04 2001 at 3:00 PM Rating: Good
Yes, it's sick, at the same time if you look at it from a fantasy-book point of view its a "realistic" evil thing that could happen. I think it adds depth to the dark elf society. The concept of it happening in real life IS horrible, and I think the designers of the quest made it so you would be horrified.

One of the things about this game is that it tests your characters "character". Is your character willing to stoop to such lows...

Mine isn't ... but I don't know about others..
being on a pvp server .. I can kill those others and feel good about it.

I have to agree with the last two people. It's a game, you don't have to do the quest if you don't want to, it's your choice. They're Dark Elves, they're an evil race, expect evil things from them. Not everything in this game is geared towards the 10-year-old group, and not all real life is happy. Personally, I don't think this game should be for children at all, I would like to see it become teen+.
RE: Sick, sick, sick
# Apr 29 2002 at 5:15 AM Rating: Excellent
Actually, the game IS rated for teen and up. Children are not supposed to play without parental approval. Verant even has a parental advisory saying the game is not made for children.

As far as this quest itself is concerned, I agree that it is evil. But it's a dark elf quest, so it should be evil. Evil races should have evil quests and use blood to make their armor. Good aligned characters should not. (They also shouldn't eat cannibal meats or kill little girls to steal their nightgowns, but they do anyway.)
