You say, 'Hail, Jarrex N`Ryt'

Jarrex N`Ryt says 'What have we here? A new weakling that wishes to reap some sort of self-value and renown through service to the Indigo Brotherhood perhaps? Well speak up whelp!! Have you come to [destroy the enemies of Neriak] or are you a coward better suited to mop the filth from the back rooms of the Maidens Fancy. '

You say, 'I have come to destroy the enemies of Neriak'

Jarrex N`Ryt says 'If you are going to be of any value to the Indigo Brotherhood you will need to outfit yourself in a suit of armor that will turn aside the blades of enemy forces. From the looks of you even the tiny fangs of a moss snake could bring you death. Take this request form to Issva H'Rugla to get yourself started on the assembly of your armor. When you have procured some protection for your weakling body return to me for [further instruction]. '

You say, 'what further instruction?'

Jarrex N`Ryt says 'Ah, you are eager to advance further within the Indigo Brotherhood. Although it is my duty to aid your training, do not allow your arrogance to blind you to your lowly position amongst the Kings most loyal subjects. Your next task is to assist the construction of a [weapon] and [shield] worthy of being wielded by a Warrior of the Indigo Brotherhood. '

You say, 'what shield?'

Jarrex N`Ryt says 'Young Kodiak Bears often wander into the Nektulos Forest from the Commonlands searching for food. You do not appear to have the strength to arm wrestle a pixie. If you prove me wrong by slaying Young Kodiaks and bringing me four Young Kodiak Femurs I will guide you in the construction of a shield worthy of a warrior of the Indigo Brotherhood. '

VI was funny

Verant was funny back then. You'd think they'd give us warriors two weapon quests instead of a weapon and a shield, because by the time you finnish this, you'll most likely have dual wield and no use for your new shield.
Black Femur Shield

Well this quest was a waste. The item wasn't that great and it took forever to get all four Kodiak Femurs. They are a rare drop. It is not 1 in 5 I'll tell you that much.

For Duramarth you probably gave Medron the Black Mamba skins stacked or something because I gave him both skins in each their own slot, and also put the frame in the third slot and it worked. I got the shield.

The only bonus is as said above you can put it in your back slot. Other than that this quest needs to be adjusted because the Young Kodiaks conned Light Blue and Dark Blue to me at Level 15. There is no way a below 10 Noob can do this quest unless you were twinked or had a partner or two help you. If you were twinked I wouldn't imagine you would want this crappy item.

i did the femur bone part of it and got half the shield then i got the 2 black mamba skins and took them to medron y'lask but when i gave them to him, he said i need the skins and the shield thing, and i thought he would just put it back in my invintory and i looked and there was nothing there, the guy took it, it took so long to get those femurs to, i'm going to give up on it
The elusive femur...

Ok, been killing LOTS of Young Kodiaks. Easily 30 of them on my DE warriors way to 12 (almost 13 and dual yeild, yes!). I had figured the femurs were mythical when one turned up. Damn. Now I have to keep trying... But the person who said the drop was 1 in 5 was hallucinating. So far it's been at best 1 in 30. Also, I *never* saw a Young Kodiak by Lava Storm zone, where I used to be often with my Chanter hunting undead... They are at the south end of the zone (EC end) exclusively.
young kodiaks

Well I guess Im having bad luck cause I killed at least 20 YKs and have only gotten 1 femur, I wonder if the YKs in EC drop the femurs?
Armor and weaon order

I have not finished the armor portion (boots, bracer or greaves (sp)) and I did the weapon without a problem, just my input on that last post. Good luck all.
Okay, i understand

You MUST do the orc slayer armour before getting the Shield and sword quests..... Sorry peeps

The sword maybe a bit rubbish (to slow), but the shield RULES!

I've also not completed the armor, but I already have the sword...still working on the shield.

Comments on the sword...it's not bad. Maybe a bit slow as you say, but is it a magic item. I keep my Long Sword with me as back up, but I generally don't need it.

Drop rate
# Mar 21 2002 at 5:50 PM Rating: Decent
Drop rate on the femurs is about 1 in 5. Young Kodiaks spawn most frequently in the part of Nektulos by the Lavastorm zone. Though they can also be found near the EC zone just north of Travis Two Tone.
