Expin (Rogue Guildmaster) is located at: -552, -156, +159 in Kelethin. He's on Find (Ctrl+F). You'll need Amiable faction with Tunare's Scouts to obtain this quest.

    You say, 'Hail, Expin'

Expin says 'How are you, my friend? You must be a [new scout of Kelethin]. I would hope so. We dearly need more recruits. Most of the Fier'Dal choose the path of the ranger.'

You say, 'I am a new scout of Kelethin'

Expin says 'Good. I have an easy, but very important, task for you. We require all young members to cleanse these woods of the troublesome pixie tricksters. Take this pouch, fill it with pixie dust, and when it is combined, return it to me. I just may have some used armor lying around for you.'

    You are given Empty Pouch.

Combine 6 Pixie Dust (drops off pixies in Greater and Lesser Faydark) and get Pouch of Pixie Dust. Upon turn in:

Expin says 'Good work, scout!! You have earned this reward. It is all we have at the time. I am certain you are satisfied. If not, then do not let me hear of it.'

Your faction standing with Tunare's Scouts has been adjusted by 15.
    You gain experience!
You receive 10 silver from Expin.
You have completed achievement: Kelethin Quests - Pixie Dust

The amount of coin is random, as well as the small tattered armor given as a reward.

    Reward:
A random piece of Small Tattered armor

This quest requires amiable with Tunare's Scouts.

Even though he seems to be a rogue guildmaster, it IS possible to cast Collaborate on Expin.

This is with my Vah Shir rogue. I'd been killing any arboreans I saw for the faction, but I was still indifferent.

[Wed Dec 31 13:10:40 2003] Tylfon regards you indifferently -- what would you like your tombstone to say?
[Wed Dec 31 13:10:43 2003] You begin casting Illusion: Half-Elf.
[Wed Dec 31 13:10:43 2003] Your Burnoose of the Halfbreed begins to glow.
[Wed Dec 31 13:10:52 2003] You feel different.
[Wed Dec 31 13:10:55 2003] Tylfon judges you amiably -- what would you like your tombstone to say?

Now that I was amiable, I turned in two sets of the 2 rusty daggers + 2gp to Tylfon, and 2 pouches of Pixie Dust to Expin. After that, I was amiable even in my standard Vah Shir form. I have no idea how many trees I killed before, but it wasn't too many, as it took too long to wander around looking for them without a tracker.

My suggestion is to get some rusty daggers (two at a time) and/or pixie dust (six at a time). Get an illusion to get your faction up to turn in what you have, and it should bump you up to where you don't need the illusion pretty easily. Once you get past that initial hurdle, you're golden.

    Just verifying a few things...

The bag you get and the Pixie Dust are not NoDrop. I talked to Expin with my Half-Elf Tunare ranger from Kelethin. He asked me an extra question, about being a Scout of Tunare. I said that I was, and he gave me the bag. Using the shared bank slot, I gave the bag to my Vah Shir rogue. I also hunted the Pixies with my ranger, as the tracking made it much easier, and I just transferred the Dust as well when I was done.

Every Arborean I've killed with my 50 ranger has given the mentioned faction adjustments - lower for Arboreans, higher for all the other GFay stuff, Scouts of Tunare included. I killed several green Arboreans with my 13 rogue and got no faction adjustment at all. I later killed a light blue Arborean sapling, and got the proper faction adjustments. I'm not sure of the names of the green Arboreans, so it may just be the smallest one doesn't do anything for you.

With my indifferent 13 Vah Shir rogue, I turned in the combined bag. He gladly took the bag, and told me to go kill more orcs. As was stated, killing orcs does not affect Scouts of Tunare faction. Only the quests and killing Arboreans seems to do it.

There is a new mob in G'Fay. They are called Aboreans. they look like little Treants. Kill the Aboreans and they give you Scouts of Tunare faction, along with other factions. Only faction that is lowered is with the Aboreans themselves.

As for raising G'Fay factions in general: DO the Pandros muffin hand-in quest, in West Freeport. I am now maxed faction with most of Kelethin and after killing the guards in Neriak and a few hundred CB Orcs I can move around most of Kelethin and Felewithe. In wolf form I can now do the Batwings to Niola Impholder and Bonechips to Yeolarn Bronzeleaf.

Factions take time and hard work, but almost all factions can be raise one way or another, you just need a lot of patience and the odd wolf form.

    Good luck to you all.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 02 2002 at 9:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hey all you people who want to raise your faction with kelethin listen to this. I have had experience cause i was a Dark Elf shadowknight. First depending on your lvl you must kill centurions over lvl 10 kill lego's the bigger the kill the more faction u get. Once your faction with the gaurds is amaibly you go to the ranger guild because the ranger guild is bassically the gaurd guild and the orc hachet or pixie trickster dust quests this raises your faction with everyone in kelethin except the banke( he's got some personal issues and doesn' like any one). Once your faction with merchants in kelethin are indifferent or amaibly can't remember you should be able to do any quest in this elven city and sell to merchants. Thanks for your time. The little guy from Luclin.

Killing the Crushbone Orcs will lower your faction in Neriak with the Indigo Brotherhood which is the Dark Elf Warriors Guild there. It's probably a bad idea for a low level dark elf to hunt Crushbone orcs and other related orcs in Faydwer.

Also, as a dark elf rogue, pretty much the only way you can raise faction with the rogues in Kelethin (Scouts of Tunare faction) high enough to train there is to kill vast numbers of the various new Arborean mobs that spawn in Greater Faydark. Killing orcs has no effect on your faction with the rogues in Kelethin, and as noted above it screws up your faction with the warriors back in your home town of Neriak.

I am convinced that there is no way possible to raise faction with these guys if you start out at indifferent or lower....my gnome rogue is app, so i must sneak each time to train, and i cannot get either quest to raise faction, so youre stuck if youre below amiable

If you take care and notice the person giving the scout quests says the cape/blade/leggings of Tunare, so that means you have to worship Tunare in order to get those items.
    Faction for scouts

I am a rogue half elf. I can tell you this,
ONE killing orcs does NOT raise your faction with the Scout's guild..IT tells u this when u kill em, no where does it say "YOur faction with T.Scouts got better". plus i have killed so many orcs it tells me "your faction couldn't poss. get any worse with the crushbone orcs." so believe me don't waste ur time killing them.
TWO i have tried the guilds newbi quest for hrs n hrs and my faction never got that better..i am not able to do the blades quest..:( u have to have the best faction with em to be able.
I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO GET GREAT FACTION WITH THEM.. SO who do i kill?? plz help..

This is really ticking me off. I'm an agnostick rouge, I tried doin the cape quest, but my faction is not high enough, they tell you to kill orcs to bring up your faction (the rouge guild NPCs), but if you look when you kill orcs, the only faction that increases is Champions(rangers) and Emerald warriors(...). Not scouts of Tunare.
How the hell do you increase your faction with them. I'm of there own guild, (woodelf rouge) and I can't even do jack. WHY

The Kelethin Banker is on Kelethin Merchant Faction NOT Scouts of Tunare. I have confirmed this by killing the banker (hey I'm an ogre).

The only way you get to become non-KoS to the banker is by first killing loads of crushbone orcs, and then by doing the emerald warriors newbie item quest. (You used to be able to do the shark meat quest, but Verant has nerfed the quest by removing sharks from BB - I think you can still do the shark meat quest, but shark meat has become MUCH more difficult to find).

The Banker is definatly not on Kelethin Merchant Faction!! He scowls ready to attack on me, but the merchants are dubiously! The only factions which are scowling are Scouts of Tunare, Anti Mage and maybe King Tearis Thex though i am not quite sure on the last one.
I've read already another post where it was mentioned that the banker is propably on Anti Mage Faction. I will find it out :)

BTW: Shark Meat can be found in Freeport though it is a long trip...

i keep gettin "a few less crushbone orc bs then we will talk" but ive killed many orcs for a couple weeks now and that DOES NOT RAISE THE FACTION!!!! WTF???
    RE: WTF???
    # Oct 16 2001 at 1:36 PM Rating: Default
The only way you can raise your faction with The Scouts of Tunare is to complete there quests. I have done the cape quest 3 times now & still can't do the Blade quest even though my faction with the Crushbone Orcs can't get any worse. I'm going to start killing Pixies & see if that helps my faction.

I hear that the Kelethin Banker is also on this Scouts of Tunare faction and I would like to not be KOS to the Banker. I am an Iksar monk and Even with Wolf Form and Sneak I can not get him to give the quest. I am stuck. Anyone know if you can kill a NPC any place to up my faction just enough to be able to do the lowest possible quest that will give me faction with the scouts of Tunare? Post any info that could help

Iksar monk's and Necro's have it very ez when it come's to the banker just get guard faction and FD infront of the banker and just use the bank while you are FD. Also you can bank with wolf-form
    i can't do this quest

I am a WoodElf Rogue, and I was able to do the scout cape quest, but only that one. My faction is high enough to do the scout blade or the leggings and im lvl 21. i've killed plenty of orcs, and it is my starting city. I think you have to do the pixie dust quest to raise faction with the scouts of tunare.
    How do you respond?
    # Aug 21 2001 at 1:24 PM Rating: Default
I click on Espin, then i click hail, then he rambles about being a scout of tunare.

How do i respond to him? do i just talk? shout?

    what?

    thanks

The best way to raise kelethin faction is go to orc hill and crushbone for a week and reak havok on the orcs that dwell there i am currently in the process of doing that to raise my factions in kelethin with my necro gnome, so i could buy and sell in kelethin

Actually, as stated below, the orcs do not give Scouts of Tunare faction which is the rogue faction in Kelethin and I have a half elven rogue from Qeynos who is indifferent to the scouts but can do NONE of these quests either normally or using sneak:

    pixie dust
    rusty daggers
    scout's cape
    silvermesh leggings
    scout's blade

My guess is that possibly wolf form could be used but unsure if that would raise or even have an effect on faction or that the only non Kelethin born rogues who could do this quest would be bards or enchanters using a faction adjustment spell/song. It appears that half elf rogues have a very high indifferent because my Qeynos born agnostic rogue is indifferent but when I made a Kelethin born agnostic rogue it was indifferent too until turning in the newbie note for the tunic which brough faction up to amiable.
