Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen is located in the caster guild house in Neriak Commons.

You say, 'Hail, Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'Who dares to address me while I am clearly busy reviewing my daily research. I sure hope this is important. I do not have time to waste on just any initate of House Spurned. Not a single day goes by that I do not come face to face with cannon fodder that is not even worthy of a headstone in our burial grounds. If you wish to [prove yourself] then I might be in a generous mood. '

You say, 'I wish to prove myself'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'I must admit this is not the first time I have heard someone say that nor will it be the last, however I am wiling to give you a chance. First thing we will need to do is get some clothes in your back if you wish to survive for any amount of time. If you are a young Wizard, Enchanter or Magician of House Spurned then I will present you with a [mystical sewing kit]. '

You say, 'What mystical sewing kit?'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'The Mystical Sewing kit that I have created is one that is able to fashion a material used for crafting clothes worn by all Initates of House Spurned. All that is required are Cloaks worn by Lightwalkers that plague our Forest to this very day. If you are to take my task and seek vegenence on this inferior group of Arcane lightwalkers you will pride your house along with gathering one of the [key ingredients] for your armor. I have heard rumor that they have tried to generate some kind of magic from a source shrouded by our forest. '

You say, 'What key ingredients?'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'You will be given different combination recipes for whichever armor piece you wish to craft. You will combine the specific items in the Mystical Sewing Kit that I will give to you when you are ready. After you have combined the correct items in your sewing kit you will fashion together a Bloodstained Cloth of the Spurned. At that time you will put the pattern that I will give you for each armor piece you request in the loom along with this cloth to craft your Armor piece. I will also suggest that you craft your Breastplate last due to the difficulty of obtaining the items. Do you [understand] the instructions I have given you? '

You say, 'I understand.'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'Very well, here is your Mystical sewing kit. I have the patterns and recipes necessary to craft Spurned Initiate [Skullcaps], [Bracers], [Sandals], [Sleeves], [Trousers], [Gloves} and [Robes]. When you feel you are ready to gather the items necessary to craft your armor simply tell me which piece you want to craft. The items that you will need to collect will mostly be found in the Forest but some will be here in town. As I said before seek out the Arcane Lightwalkers to collect the cloaks that you will need to make the armor materials. I look forward to seeing what you will make of this opportunity. '

You say, 'What final test?'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'Well, I must say that I did not expect you to progress in your training at the rate you have. I also knew there was something that separated you from our other initiates. For your final test, I will need you to execute three specific Orc Chieftans in the Nektulos forest. Bring me the Prayer beads of all three Orc Chieftans. These Orc Chieftans are the heads of each Orc camp and will be heavily guarded, so I would suggest bringing any friends you have made that are somewhat proficient on the battlefield to assist you. They have caused my house many problems and it is time that they are put to rest. You have come too far to fail me now. I hope to see you soon...alive, that is.'

Head out into Nektulos Forest and kill three High Chiefs: Ferilsars, Wasolors, and Deroslan. Loot their beads and turn them in:

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'Your prowess both in the classroom and on the battlefield has certainly amazed me. Please take this relic that is only presented to the most dedicated initiates and carry it with pride. You have made your house very proud on this day.'

You gain experience.

You now receive your Ceremonial Dagger of the Spurned.

NOTE: There are no faction hits for completing this quest.

Specifically, the "big orc camp" is the one directly south of the druid ring. The one "near the Commonlands" is one in the very SW corner of the Nektulos.

I've been at one camp for 2 hours now and killed everything there (gotta love uber buffs hehe) and not a single cheif has popped. I've read thru most of the posts here but *shrug* nothing seems to work for me :(
RE: ugh
# Nov 10 2004 at 5:12 PM Rating: Decent
After reading more posts, I was able to get the Cheifs to spawn ... they pop in the same pace as the center orc at the fire.

I cannot say one way or another if killing ONLY that orc in the center. My partner and I tried that approach for a few cycles, and then just wiped the whole camp a few times. Eventually, the Chief popped. *shrug*

As a level 12 Mage and a friend (11 SK) we took on each camp one at a time and took them with ease. Each bowing out to recast pet when needed. A close location for each camp is:
n430, p723...southwest of zone, north of river
n168, n390...southeast of zone, south of pyramid
n1612, p1177...southwest corner of zone

The last one we had to go around the huge halfling camp and it took over an hour to get the chieftain to spawn. I turned in the beads and recieved the dagger. I realized with the stats, I chose it over the Coldain Dagger that I was using.

He says, "3 specific Orc Chieftans in the forest and the Commonlands," which makes me think the Commons beads as well as the Nek forest beads may be used. The Commons are generally camped, so easy to pick up some beads if none of the people exp'ing there need the beads themselves.

The Nek forest camps are usually pretty dead, at least on Bertoxx. The orcs being all Leggos also probably deters a lot of people from trying them at lower levels.

I don't know how common the chiefs are in the Commons, but my newbie wiz was at one of the Nek orc camps and didn't see the Cheif until the camp had been cleared a good 10 times.

I'm not sure why it talks about camps in the commanlands, there are three orc camps in nek I got the prayer beads from the orc chiefs in each of the three camps In nek and got the dagger. I never had to set foot in EC. (Which would have been a drag because this was on Vallon Zek.)

#REDACTED, Posted: May 13 2002 at 1:06 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) When i first started playing everquest i decided to be a dark elf shadowknight and i would always run into people saying trolls and ogres are better well recently i got into a dual with a ogre sk and totally blasted him away (this was in Nektulos forest) after i won i quitetly walked away and repeadetly heard many a yound characters asking what had happend why did we dual all in shout now Nek used to be a very quite place (still is at odd hours) all i want to say is we dark elfs like to be left alone and not have a lot of noise course through the other wise dank and sullen forest with the new quest (which are a good idea) i miss the quite and good hunting now lost by overpopulation i just hope nek just doesn't turn into a oasis or LOIO of newbie zones(i say that because now you can easily get to level 12 in this zone) and the ogre part is cause i am kinda bitter.

The orc High Chief's are all about lv 12ish, and spawn in the densest area of their camps. There are 3 of them, one for each camp. To get to the first camp, follow the road from neriak until you can see the bridge and there is a dip with a large stump in it to your left. Go down there, just to the left of the stump, and run straight...you should come over the hill and see the camp right there. The second camp is along the river, follow it right from the neriak side of the bridge. The third and last is in the corner where the highest level halfling camp used to be, follow the zone wall past Travis Two Tone the bard, coming from EC. Except for the last camp, I havn't found a way to pull less than 3 orcs at once from any of them. The last camp has the fewest orcs, and you can get a couple of them single out on the edge, but the chief spawns with 2-3 other orcs within aggro range. The second camp is worse, if you try to pull the chief you will get at least 4 orcs, more likely the whole camp. The first one is the biggest, 8-10 orc spawns depending on how many wanderers are hanging out there. Legionnaires are level 7-9ish, templars are 8-10ish with cleric spells, and the High Chiefs are all about 12-13, and each drops his unique prayer beads every time. Good luck.

I have camped the 3rd camp for at least 8 hours over the last week, killing all the spawns, but the Chief has never appeared. There must be a trigger somewhere, perhaps? As a non-twink, that dagger looks quite inviting. Well, at least I have gained 2 levels and faction in the process :)

Coriolis, 12 DE Enchanter, Lanys T'vyl
nice stuff
# Mar 25 2002 at 6:02 AM Rating: Decent
Would have been nice if these had been there when I was running around Nektulos mugging spiders for silk to make a complete set of raw silk. Wore my ********* brown robe until a friend gave me an FBR.

Then I gave up, and twinked without qualms :)

Oh, yeah. Can anyone report what the dagger looks like? My sacrificial dagger just isn't evil enough looking. I carry a walrus tooth mainly, but if this looks good, I'd go back to carrying a stat item.

Hail!

I just finsished the final test of the spurned on the Xegony server. The three orc camps are all in Nek forest. The first is near the bridge on the rivers edge, second is just a tad off the road going towards the bridge take a left as you come in sight of it. Third is on the far side (nearest East Commons zone) of the river in the back corner of the zone. The three High priest seem to spawn around every thirty minutes or so, and appear to be 20'ish. Always drop the beads. Handing in the three beads results in a dagger:

"Cerimonial dagger of the spurned"
stats:
Primary hand only,
lore, magic, no drop.
5 damage 25 delay
2 Int 20 mana

As a side note; I've been reading/hearing alot of people talk that the quest items for all classes in Neriak are below avarage. Please remember, these items are meant to be used/obtained by toons with nothing, save mabey cloth or raw silk. Of course if your twinked its probably not going to be armor for you. It wasn't meant to be.

Good luck with your questing :)

/agree.
this stuff is primo if you're not twinked, (my De magician is bubbling as much as a tier'dal can bubble over this stuff) but with any twinkage all of htis stuff is a waste of time.
some of this stuff is still pretty good for low levels though. i took my 15 chanter back for the skull camp, trousers and other stuff to replace all my cloth and raw silk armor. i lost some ac, but my int is getting way up there.

To my knowledge, nearly all the pieces are the same AC as raw silk armor but with a few small stats. I wish the stat increases were more but it's better than nothing. Compared to the high elf cleric quest armor this stuff is a bit embarrassing. I play exclusively on the teams servers and I've noticed lights getting consistently better quests all the time. Regardless, I'm doing the quests just because i like questing, but I'll probably replace the gear with better equipment once my wizard levels up to 20 or so.

I have seen this so many times when Verant waves it's magic wand and *POOF* newbie quests!
Wait a week for everyone to get over their new characters and go back to the old ones. As a higher level player on Tallon Zek I actually don't mind because for the next week I can freely hunt just about anywhere without dealing with PKing and competition for high level quest items!

Then in a week or two go start your newbie and quietly benefit from everyone else's mistakes!

ok i know ill get all kinda flamed for this but
i used to love neriak
the dark elves there were dark, quiet, and mysterious
there was a rare time you'd be annoyed and spammed by shouting
you could happily (newbily) hunt there and there was stuff around FOR you to kill
i knew the zone (including ALL of the town) like the inside of my spell book (which they also made newbies not need to stare at...)
i log in post patch
there are 28 newbies (this EXCLUDES the good characters in the zone, which would add another 15-20) in nektulos forest all shouting for one item or another, TALKING to each other in shout, each newbie asking the other newbies how to get the new quest items, newbies beggin the higher level characters for clarity, breeze, full buffs, armor and items, for them to come and kill the entire orc camp or other things they need to so they can get their quest pieces, etc.
i enjoyed being a dark elf
not many were because we had few and very crappy quests...we were shunned by almost all other races and towns and people would always say "why did u chose a dark elf for [enter class here]?!? dont you know that [enter THEIR race here] is better for that class?"
i even tried to bring my newbie SK human (rare item reasons) to nektulos forest to play and it was damn near IMPOSSIBLE to get a kill (many people had their VERY high lvl friends helping them...)
its cool verant finally gave dark elves some newbie quests
its not cool that all the lighties made newbie dark elf characters and are ruining our lands...

Stinking filth! Time to die lightie!
Its lighties like you that have ruined your own land with spam, you shall not ruin mine!
Assazzin hits you for 532 points of damage!

Things just been going downhill. I was playing on Rallos Zek the first day the server came up. Within a week the Dark Elves were the most feared of all the races. Everybody, including the trolls and the ogres, were ganging up against them, and the DE were winning.

Why? Because the DE always stuck together. You could have 80 people in Nektulos forest, and if one DE killed another, the witnesses would set up the shout of "Kinslayer!". Withing moments, 79 people are hunting the killer, to the point where the attacker would have to delete the character and reroll. I can remember as well when literal armies of Dark Elves (one raid I was in was over 200 people...avg level around 16) would stream into East Commons, wiping out anything non-DE.
Now you can't fight a fire-beetle in Nektulos without worrying that a couple of fellow DE are going to try to whack you for you silk armor.
RE: sigh....
# May 08 2002 at 7:20 PM Rating: Decent
A-fricking-MEN to that, Assazzin.

I feel the same way. Lighties that like to /shout conversations, or even /ooc what should be IN /TELL.....grrr. Nothing is more annoying than seeing "wassup? Nuttin. Wut RU doin?" in the /ooc & /shout channels....

GO BACK TO GFAY! GO BACK TO KELETHIN and do that crap there. Leave us poor quiet dark inkies to our own style. At least there should be one zone to escape your BS.

Thank you, and F you.
