You say, 'Hail, Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'Who dares to address me while I am clearly busy reviewing my daily research. I sure hope this is important Branaddar, I do not have time to waste on just any initate of House Spurned. Not a single day goes by that I do not come face to face with cannon fodder that is not even worthy of a headstone in our burial grounds. If you wish to [prove yourself] then I might be in a generous mood. '

You say, 'I wish to prove myself'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'I must admit this is not the first time I have heard someone say that nor will it be the last, however I am wiling to give you a chance. First thing we will need to do is get some clothes in your back if you wish to survive for any amount of time. If you are a young Wizard, Enchanter or Magician of House Spurned then I will present you with a [mystical sewing kit]. '

You say, 'what mystical sewing kit?'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'The Mystical Sewing kit that I have created is one that is able to fashion a material used for crafting clothes worn by all Initates of House Spurned. All that is required are Cloaks worn by Lightwalkers that plague our Forest to this very day. If you are to take my task and seek vegenence on this inferior group of Arcane lightwalkers you will pride your house along with gathering one of the [key ingredients] for your armor. I have heard rumor that they have tried to generate some kind of magic from a source shrouded by our forest. '

You say, 'what key ingredients?'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'You will be given different combination recipes for whichever armor piece you wish to craft. You will combine the specific items in the Mystical Sewing Kit that I will give to you when you are ready. After you have combined the correct items in your sewing kit you will fashion together a Bloodstained Cloth of the Spurned. At that time you will put the pattern that I will give you for each armor piece you request in the loom along with this cloth to craft your Armor piece. I will also suggest that you craft your Breastplate last due to the difficulty of obtaining the items. Do you [understand] the instructions I have given you? '

You say, 'I understand'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'Very well Branaddar, here is your Mystical sewing kit. I have the patterns and recipes necessary to craft Spurned Initiate [Skullcaps], [Bracers], [Sandals], [Sleeves], [Trousers], [Gloves} and [Robes]. When you feel you are ready to gather the items necessary to craft your armor simply tell me which piece you want to craft. The items that you will need to collect will mostly be found in the Forest but some will be here in town. As I said before seek out the Arcane Lightwalkers to collect the cloaks that you will need to make the armor materials. I look forward to seeing what you will make of this opportunity. '

You say, 'I want to craft the Spurned Initiate Skullcap'

Morgalanth Tal`Raeloen says 'You will need to collect 1 Blood Drenched Cloak 1 Ash Drakeling Scale 2 Bone Chips and 1 Red Wine. Combine these all in your Mystical Sewing Kit to create a Bloodstained Cloth of the Spurned that is used for creating your Skullcap. Take this Cap pattern that I have given you and place it in the closest loom along with your Bloodstained Cloth of the Spurned to craft a Skullcap of the Spurned Initiate. '

After, finally, getting the drakeling scale I made the material, then, went to get the pattern. For all the other pieces I said: I want to craft the <piece>. Worked every time, but this one. I've tried every combination I could think of to no avail. What have you said that worked?

Greetings, all!

Someone asked where the A.D.s spawn. Anyone know?
I'd LOVE to know, as I've been hunting these things forever and can't seem to find them...I have been finding maybe one in like 4 real life hours. And, usually, there's nothing on the thing ...although I have gotten many of the ruined ones after hunting. I have even completed ALL the other armor quests...and still no hat. *sigh* I'd love to keep going, but soon I wonder if it's worth it. I'm already lvl 10 now...and most A.D.s are green. Does anyone know if you can still get the Dagger quest ("final test") if you didn't do the hat? Maybe I'll work on that and come back to the hat :)
Thanks for any info.

I at the point to where if I only get plus 1 to int and mana this quest is not worth it. I got everything else in my armor quest that is the last one I have to do. I do not mind the scales being hard to get but impossilbe is a whole nother story. I mean I been on here today and slayed 24 just today, been on for about 5 hrs. Still no regular scale. Now that is to dang rare!!!

I Have spent 4 hours killing those drake's and have as of yet to get a ash drake scale. I'm about ready to pull my hair out this is the dumbest thing I have ever had to quest for so I give whats the deal with the ash drake scales. Now that I have wasted 4 hours of my day I think I will just save up for a better skullcap from somewhere else. NOT WORTH THE EFFORT TO GET

what lvl does your sewing have to be to combine the items for the skullcap? I tried to do this but it said I could not combine them? or do you just not combine all 4 items at once?

Did you stack them? Cause one thing I've learned from questing is "never stack items in the container" I spent hours on end tryin to figure out what was wrong....(sad...very sad...)

RE: cloaks?
# Apr 22 2002 at 6:17 AM Rating: Decent
blood drenched cloaks drop from the arcanists around the wizzie platform. they are levels 8-13.

as far as i can tell, all these quests, you can't fail when you are combining.
when you are combining the ingredients, it's just like another tradeskill: have the right things, in the right slots, not stacked or anything.

if you're ever on Luclin server, and need a hand, give Raveena a shout, and i'll be happy to render what assistance i can.

Actually the lowest level they come as is 3! I have seen several blues at 4. (Well, they could be 1 or 2, but from how hard it was hitting I guess at 3.)

Ash Drakeling Scale
# Mar 29 2002 at 1:57 AM Rating: Default
Apparently there is yet another type of ash drakeling scale, a pristine ash drakeling scale. It is a required component for the Ashen Bone Mail Tunic, a rogue quest item. If it takes many many drakeling kills just to get a normal ash drakeling scale to drop, how many years will pass before the pristine scale drops?
RE: Ash Drakeling Scale
# Apr 12 2002 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
I got 3 pristine scales in about two hours.

Of course, I wanted the normal scale for chanter quest...

Typical, if I was a rogue it would be the other way around

Negative faction are with various high and wood elf factions. They are high elves.

Positive faction with the dead. Which is fantastic since it is such a hard faction to raise if you went agnostic and are dubious.

Wrong! Arcane Scientist are HUMAN Caster's Guild in Freeport. The same ones that will KoS most all Dark Elves that get to close to them.

Faction hits are negative dwarves, high elves, wood elves, humans, and positive The Dead Faction.

Just makes me want to kill more and more of them ... hehehe

That's not true!

Factions are:

-Keepers of the Art (High Elf Caster Guilds)
-King Tearis Thex (Dunno, but I think High Elf)
-Faydarks Champions (Wood Elf Ranger Guild)
+The Dead (3rd Gate)

I have just completed this quest, and there is a regular Drakeling Scale....but it is VERY rare as someone said earlier. As for the loom, I used a regular Deluxe sewing kit to combine the two patterns to create my armor. You don't have to find a loom, just use a sewing kit after you combine the first ingredients in your magic kit.

I spent most of all afternoon yesturday doing the spurned armor quest, and wanted to pass along some information;

(1) to receive the pattern and ingredients tell the quest npc "I want to craft a <item name>. Spent the better part of an hour fiquring that one out :)

(2)Do the small peices first. To create the armor, the game checks against your sewing skills and the larget the piece the higher the skill.

(3) All the quest components can be found in and around Nek forest. Blood drenched cloaks are on the Mage NPCs around the Wizard tower as most other mobs are that drop ingrediants (a few are nearer the Lavastorm area though)

(4) Bracers require a Black mamba skin. Black mamba = large snake. hehe took me a few to fiqure that one out :)

Now for my question

I currently have the bracer (Which is lore btw...you'd think they would let you have two..) the gloves (which have a bracer graphic..) and slippers. I'm currently working on all other peices, but thus far, the hat has elluded(sp) me. Can anyone confirm the scale that drops? So far I've only found "a ruined ash drakling scale" and that one dosn't work. I've not yet seen a drakling scale drop other then ruined. So if anyone has in fact finished this part of the armor, please let me know.

Well, i must admit that this is cool. i started noticing this kind of thing when SoL came out,ie. the ghulam armourl quest for Vah Shir, but it appears that now you're increasing the number of low level quests, and having quests that yield something that newbies and lowbies will want. IT'S ABOUT F***ING TIME VI!
not everyone in the game is 50+, so stop catering exclusively to them, and give some thought to mid and low levels.
you want new people to join up so they too can cough up hard earned cash to play? make the game friendly for the low levels. this is a start, don't f**k it up.

Sincerely,

My 2 CP...I've only ever played on Rallos Zek so, i'll assume all the servers got these new newbe quest.
I'm forced to agree with Wubao. and would like to add that Rallos is full of Twinks! and where you can loot coin plus 1 item for gen inventory or that is still being worn when you die. They are running around with weapons and gear i'd take a group of 40's + to obtain. and the only reason they do it is so they can run around in groups of 3-4 killing everyone who is too new to EQ to have the money or connections to get that kinda gear.
In my humble oppinion is that the VI added the newbe "no drop" armor quest so that true n00b's (myself included I've deen play only a couple months) can have alittle gear that twinks can't take away from you

Thanks wubao for coming to my defense. You're right on a few counts there: i am exceptionally happy that there are new quests for nifty stuff _before_ level 40, and twinking? HA! the most i've been twinked was to manage to scrape together enough plat to buy a green silken drape for my chanter and half-price....*sighs*
I'm happy for all the new players who get to try these new newbie quests. And, it makes the low end game far more enjoyable.

"It is cry baby's like you that have ruined the game."

Nah, he hasn't ruined the game. He's just happy he finally has something to DO in game before level 40 that involves MORE than just killing armies of gnolls/goblins/frogloks.

"To begin with,th egame wasn't ever intended for twinks. It was intended that when you went to befallen,as an example, at lvl 25 and got a piece of armor with minor stats on it that would be a big deal."

Depends on the Befallen you're speaking of. BUT, as much as I can remember of that place, it was EASY at level 22, let alone level 25, where all but maybe two to three spawns would be greened out. And what are these armor pieces with minor stats? The Thaumaturgist's Robe? Yeah, that's pretty minor. I don't think I've ever seen a caster bother to wear that. And when Befallen is filled with dark elves instead of undead, only drops I've seen have been very class specific, which tends to be a really horrible way of distributing loot tables (think Mugglewump in The Warrens). Your example of Befallen is a bad one. Maybe you meant Unrest? That place had some nice loot for a level 25.

"Because of twinking and farming the game has lost its original appeal"

To YOU maybe. Not to the rest of us. You're certainly entitled to your opinion. But I disagree with it. Farming is NOT that bad on my server, and it's rampant with twinks. My advice if twinking and farming gets on your nerves is just to push on to level 60. One of two things will happen ... you'll either start doing things and seeing more content in this game that you'll totally FORGET about the zillions of people killing HGs in Rathe when you were trying to, OR you'll be level 60 and can easily farm whatever the heck you want to in the old world.

"and the designers have had to put in quests like this to satisfy th ecrybabys that think its normal to run around at level 5 with a full set of crafted armor and a venomous axe,as another example of what I have seen."

THESE QUESTS WERE NOT MADE for a level 5 Dark Elf Warrior twink to run around in a full set of crafted and a veno. Such a character WOULD HAVE NO NEED OF THESE QUESTS. These quests were made for the actual newbs. They're fun. They're enjoyable. They give them something to QUEST for. I know I re-rolled a dark elf wizard JUST to try these quests. I remember being a level 10 qeynos monk and having NOTHING to quest for other than stupid gnoll fangs. These quests are nice, and fun, and you sound like you have some serious sour grapes revolving around loot/gear issues. (Which is odd, since you're a high level necro, a class that can usually farm platinum with the best of them). Chill out a bit man. Think how much FUN something like this would have been when YOU were level 5. Getting a +2 int hat would have rocked!

"Oh just the 2cp worth from someone that keeps it in mind what was originally designed before complaining that things aren't any good."

Well you and I obviously see things differently in terms of what the game was designed for ORIGINALLY. BUT, you know what? It doesn't matter. Time has passed. The game has changed. It's a different Norrath than it once was. AND THAT'S how the game WAS designed. To evolve. Said so right on the package when I bought mine.

I dunno man. Lay off the newbs. Let them have their fun for once.
