You say, 'Hail, Phenic Dionicas'

Phenic Dionicas says 'Greetings adventurer. I am Phenic Dionicas, Magistrate of the Loyalist Combine Empire. I hope the [vampyres] did not cause you troubles on your journey here.

You say, 'What vampyres?'

Phenic Dionicas says 'Aye, the vampyres of the Coterie of the Eternal Night. I was among the first to ever [discover] the vampyre threat when I was just a young boy freshly initiated into the [Validus Custodus].'

You say, 'What discover?'

Phenic Dionicas says 'I was on a routine trade route patrol through the tenebrous mountains and the grimling forest when we were attacked by a pack of the vile undead. The creatures that attacked us wore the garments of Shadow Haven merchants and nearly my entire patrol was slain by their claws and fangs. Only [Heratius Grolden] and myself made it back to the safety of Katta Castellum alive and shortly after I was the only survivor of the attack.'

You say, 'What is the Validus Custodus?'

Phenic Dionicas says 'The Validus Custodus is the army of the Loyalist Empire. It was formerly known as the Tsaph Katta Militia when the city of Katta Castellum was still being erected upon the cliffs that it now stands. As the city grew and the duties of the militia expanded the governors and magistrates of the time met in council and the Validus Custodus was formed. My father Galin Dionicas was elected the first Commander and Chief of the Validus Custodus. Commander Galin was slain in his sleep the very same night that Heratius body was stolen from the graveyard by the vile Coterie of the Eternal Night. Their deeds shall not go unpunished.'

You say, 'Who is Heratius Grolden?'

Phenic Dionicas says 'Heratius Grolden was a boyhood friend of mine and a brave legionnaire in the Validus Custodus. He was buried with honor in the graveyard of Katta Castellum. Several nights after his burial Heratius' grave had been dug up and his body was missing. I suspect and fear that the Coterie of the Eternal Night returned for him to make him one of their own. I pray to whatever gods are listening that some day we are able to [track down the defilers]!'

You say, 'I will track down the defilers.'

Phenic Dionicas says 'It has been several decades since the first group of vampyres that are responsible for the death of Heratius Grolden were encountered. I have been watching for signs of their origins since that time to little avail. What we do know is that they wore the apparel of merchants from Shadow Haven. How and why they were turned into the bloodsucking creatures they became is still a mystery and shrouded in many rumors. Take this official request form to the merchant records keeper in Shadow Haven and he may be able to provide you with records of any merchant caravans that departed for Katta Castellum within a reasonable time before the attacks and never returned.'

  • Go to Shadow Haven and search out Record Keeper Ajar at /loc 45, 160. Give him the official request.

    You say, 'Hail, Record Keeper Ajar'

    Record Keeper Ajar says 'Greetings friend Human! I'm afraid I am quite busy with all the transactions that occur and shipments that come and go from the city but if you have an official request form for some information from our library of records I will gladly assist you.'

    Record Keeper Ajar says 'So you were sent by the Magistrates of Katta Castellum I see. It isn't very often we get requests for records as old as these.' Ajar shuffles through several books on a cluttered shelf and a few minutes later procures the records and begins writing down the requested information. 'Here are the names that have been requested by Magistrate Dionicas. You can assure him when you deliver this record that it is quite accurate.'

  • Go back to Phenic and give him the Old Merchant Records. He will give you a Badge of Service.

    Phenic Dionicas says 'Most interesting. One of the names on this list I recognize. The alchemist [Valdanov Zevfeer]. Nathyn Illuminious would know more of Valdanov. Present this badge to Nathyn so that he knows you have been sent by the Magistrates to inquire about this issue and question him about the alchemist.'

    You say, 'Who is Valdanov Zevfeer?'

    Phenic Dionicas says 'Valdanov Zevfeer was a traveling alchemist and magical reagent peddler that used to occasionally visit Katta Castellum. At one point before the initial vampyre attacks he decided to remain in Katta Castellum for a while with the wealthy Katta citizen Nathyn Illuminious. Apparently that decision saved his life as according to the records you have provided the caravan he arrived with never completed the return trip to Shadow Haven. That is as much as I know about the individual as he primarily kept to himself during his stay here.'

  • Wait until Nathyn Illuminious spawns in his house and give him the Badge of Service.

    You say, 'Who is Valdanov Zevfeer?'

    Nathyn IIIuminious says 'Valdanov Zevfeer was a talented alchemist from Shadow Haven with whom I had many dealings. He would bring me components for my enchantment research from all the various environments here on Luclin. Since Valdanov had been such a valuable aid to me in the past I decided to return the favor and allowed him residence within my abode and helped to further fund his research as long as he assisted me in my own enchantment studies. He has since left to continue to pursue his own interests and I have not heard from him in [quite some time].'

    You say, 'What is quite some time?'

    Nathyn IIIuminious says 'Valdanov departed many years ago. He had become dangerously obsessive with his research of vampyre physiology and the effects of various alchemical formulae on the undead creatures. His obsession began when a traveler arrived in Katta Castellum speaking of a Vah Shir vampyre. Valdanov began leaving the safety of the city frequently in search of this undead Vah Shir and for questionable alchemical reagents with which he insisted on testing on [captured vampyres] being studied by the Magus Conlegium.'

    You say, 'What captured vampyres?'

    Nathyn IIIuminious says 'After an unfortunate mishap with an escaped vampyre in the city the Magus Conlegium and the Validus Custodus declared that no vampyres shall ever again enter the city of Katta Castellum and only their ashes or blood may be studied under the careful observation of the Magus Conlegium. I am very sorry but I have some pressing business I must attend to and I'm afraid I have nothing more to offer. You may take this information back to Magistrate Phenic as he has requested.'

  • Nathyn gives you a "Report of Nathyns Questioning." Take it back to Phenic.

    Phenic Dionicas says 'So Valdanov had an interest in a Vah Shir vampyre?!! Perhaps we should seek out this Vah Shir and find more clues. Take these orders to Legionnaire Falion during his next shift at the Tenebrous Mountains Gate, he will question any travelers that pass by about this mysterious Vah Shir. Should you locate the Vah Shir Vampyre attempt to present him with your Badge of Service for questioning, he just may agree to cooperate rather than anger the Validus Custodus.'

  • Wait till Legionnaire Falion spawns in the Tenebrous Mountains zone at the Katta Castellum entrance.

    Legionnaire Falion says 'Greetings traveler! You look like you're still breathing and have your blood running through your veins so I suppose you may seek shelter behind the mighty walls of Katta Castellum.'

  • Hand him Phenic's orders. Make sure you have a nice 50's-level group together for the upcoming battle.

    Legionnaire Falion says 'A Vah Shir vampyre!! Isn't that disturbing! How are you supposed to spot its pale skin under all that fur! Come to think of it I've heard that a strange Vah Shir has occasionally been spotted heading towards the villages of the Coterie of the Eternal Night here in the Tenebrous Mountains. This may be the Vah Shir you are seeking. I will be sure to question any arriving travelers if they have spotted him.'

  • Now go find Kerzar. You can follow the wall to the left past the vampyre castle if you have no tracker. When you find him, give him your badge of service.

    Kerzar Clawtore says 'You've been sent by the Validus Custodus to question me!! You mortals are more foolish than I had presumed! The only information I have for you is the fact that you are about to face your death!!'

    Kerzar Clawtore roars flashing glistening fangs that are sharper and longer than the average Vah Shirs!

  • Kill Kerzar. He will fight till the bitter end but not die, instead submitting
    to questioning.


    Kerzar Clawtore crouches to the ground cowering. 'Enough, you have proven your might. I will talk! Just cease your assault!'

    Kerzar Clawtore says 'What knowledge do I have that the Validus Custodus is so eager to obtain? If you spare me I assure you I will answer truthfully.'

    You say, 'Who is Valdanov?'

    Kerzar Clawtore says 'I have not seen Valdanov Zevfeer in many years. He came to me once when I was still newly reborn wanting to extract a vial of my blood. When I refused he attacked me and extracted it against my will. I was still new and unfamiliar with my vampyric powers, Valdanov's [abilities] were far more developed than my own.

    You say, 'What abilities?'

    Kerzar Clawtore says 'His vampyric abilities of course. Valdanov had either been reborn in undeath far before myself or had a powerful mentor and the time and facilities in which to train. I did my best to resist his attack but I was still subdued by his superior skills and strength. He dropped this key in the struggle. I have no use for it, consider it yours. I must be going before I'm seen by the others. Oh no! It's too late! We've been spotted! May you continue your investigations in the afterlife!'

    Kerzar Clawtore rapidly transforms into swirling mist indistinguishable from the wind swept mountain fog as other forms begin to solidify from the fog nearby.

  • At his point Kerzar will disappear and you will get a Bone Key. 4 coterie generals will spawn.

    a coterie general hisses revealing menacing fangs and lunges ferociously at its prey!
    a coterie general says 'It's Wizards like you that insult all of Norrath!'

  • Fight the battle or evacuate, but either way, once you're done, take the key to Nathyn's house and just inside to the right on the bottom floor through a hidden wall, is "a locked chest." Give the Bone Key to the chest.

  • At this point, the whole house will go after the key giver, but have someone tag the shade and pull it away and zone. Otherwise you will have a minimum of 6 guards on you. Come back from zone and kill the shade.

    An imprisoned shade's skin is rent by massive shards of deadly ice. You have slain an imprisoned shade!

That is quite a dangerous request but it is not uncommon of Phenic to be a risk taker when it comes to his plots against the Coterie of the Eternal Night. Take this sketch and find a skilled potter to craft you a likeness of a shade from a large block of clay as a focus item for the ritual. When you have the unfired figurine fire it in a kiln with this special glaze on a High Quality Firing Sheet and return to me.'

    Autarkic Lord Sfarosh says 'A simple question indeed. I simply supplied him with Akhevan blood for his experimentation, that is all. The Order of Autarkic Umbrage is no friend of the Akheva and it was possible that his research could uncover some useful information for my order. Valdanovs own motivation for his experimentation was none of my concern, but the outcome is quite fascinating I must admit.'

    Praecantor Selis Dawneyes says 'So it seems you are aware of the outcome of his hidden experimentation. Care to enlighten us as to what that outcome was?'

    Autarkic Lord Sfarosh says 'I am amazed at how little you fleshlings know of what occurs within the very walls of your own castellum. It is known by my Order that Akhevan blood has strange mutagenic effects on the bodies of non-akheves if introduced to their circulatory systems. The process by which the Shadow Tegi are infused with the blood is quite complicated and painful but I would deduce that a vampyre like Valdanov merely had to ingest the blood for the mutagenic agents to effect his physiology, causing the permenent change into what I believe you call a Vampyre Volatilis. I have no dealings with Valdanov since his mutation as I was imprisoned in Nathyns mansion until freed by these foolish fleshings.'

    Theurgus Ajeea Polaja says 'How was it that you came to be imprisoned in the mansion of Nathyn Illuminious?'

    Autarkic Lord Sfarosh says 'I was paying a visit to Valdanov with more Akhevan blood, not knowing he had already been banished by Nathyn from Katta Castellum for becoming the monster that he became. I must admit, Nathyn is a powerful and cunning creature. He was prepared for my arrival, captured me with his sorceries, and imprisoned me in that enchanted chest. I was not offered an explanation, nor do I know how he discovered my dealings with Valdanov, I assume he obtained that knowledge from questioning Valdanov about his mutation.'

    Autarkic Lord Sfarosh says 'It seems some allies are arriving! Foolish fleshlings, run while you have the chance!'

    Praecantor Selis Dawneyes says 'Ajeea! What's happened?! I sense there are dark powers at work here!'

    Incantator Jak Masric says 'The circle of containment is breaking down without Ajeea! Prepare yourselves!'

    Autarkic Lord Sfarosh says 'Your feeble fleshling magic has failed you! Your souls shall be slaves of the Order of Autarkic Umbrage!'

    Praecantor Selis Dawneyes rushes to Ajeea, lifts her comotose body with a magical force and they both vanish is a flash of light.

    Incantator Jak Masric says 'Eliminate the shades! Selis and I will get Ajeea to safety and concentrate on a ward to prevent any further intrusion and stifle the shades power! Seek me out and bring me the robes of these shades when they have been slain so that we may research placing a more permanent ward against such creatures on the Conlegium.'

    Autarkic Lord Sfarosh says 'Attempt to slay me if you so desire, and if you succeed it matters not. I will return as I am a creature of shadows and shadows never die, merely slumber!'

  • Kill Autarkic Lord Sfarosh and three Autarkic Umbrage Shades. Loot the robes from them and give the robes to Jak Masric, found at -680, -225 on the third floor of the Magus Conlegium building..

  • Find Heratius Grolden in the Vampire Castle in the Tenebrous Mountains, he spawns on the balcony on the top floor. He is level 58. Kill him and immediatly Valdanov Zevfeer Spawns, he is level 62 and immune to melee damage unless it has Bane:Vampyre.

    Valdanov Zevfeer's corpse screams inhumanly as he falls and bursts into a cloud of ashes blacker than the darkest night.

  • Loot Vampire Volatilis Ashes (identifies as "Ashes of Valdanov Zevfeer") from Valdanov and return to Phenic.

    WARNING. The ash dropped from Heratius Grolden has the same exact name. However they identify differently. The ash identified as Ashes of Valdanov Zevfeer is the correct ash which is the drop from Valdanov Zevfeer.

  • Hand Phenic the Ashes, your Badge of Service and your Magus Conlegium Token.

    Phenic Dionicas says 'I require the Ashes of Valdanov Zevfeer, the Magus Conlegium Token, and the Katta Castellum Badge of Service in order to reward you the honor you strive for.'

    Ok, when I started the quest I had no idea about what it took for the mobs, so here's where I am so far.

    For Kerzar Clawtore we brought a full group - 54 pally, 63 monk, 63 wizard, 56 druid, 54 shaman, 50 sk. The guy is pretty tough, but didn't seem to do an incredible amount of damage. You could do this with a good group of low 50's, but having a cleric would be nice. Oh, and don't bother with the coterie generals, you don't need to kill them. We just had the druid succor us back to katta when Kerzar gave me the key.

    The imprisoned shade is even easier, in a way. When we went to Nathyn's house there was a group already there killing his guards, as they give great faction hits. I gave the key to the chest and didn't need to worry about the aggro. A good low 50's group could do this part easy too, as long as the guards aren't around. If the guards are all up, I'd say have a group of people in the courtyard waiting. When you give the key in, get all the guards and run them to the zone. Have your friends nuke the snot out of the shade as fast as possible and teleport out. Then you come back in and loot. I tested the guards later to check, I made it to the zone pretty easy using sow and divine aura, not sure how hard it would be without it. I'll post here again tomorrow night when we kill the four shades.

    My 60th warrior is doing this quest, im up to the figurine part, and im dubious to most of the NPCs im dealing with to get here. So faction doesn't seem to be a problem other than Being KOS. As for the final boss, the 62nd level Vald.. acouple hints of what im gonna try. On the Beastlord epic mob Draz, he is immune to melee attacks other than those weapons the BST gets from doing the quest; We took him down with the MT having a damage shield on. and 2 clerics sharing CH rotation. Shaman used Torpor, and 14 minutes later he was dead, im gonna use this same tactic tonight when i go to pull him. The torches the Guards at the katta zone are magic, non lore, and droppable so you can get a few of them in like 45 minutes of killing the guards pretty easy. I'll post more on this, once i get my shield tonight. If the servers come back up

    He lifetaps for 1000 a pop and does it back to back. I was hit twice in a row and died, pally got it twice in a row as well and didn't live to tell about it.

    Unlikely that you succeed in a 14min fight against a mob that is told to have strong lifetaps.

    My guess is either the fight is short or you wipe.

    The fight is long. 15 minutes is about right. He gated when he was very low health and came back at about 33 percent.

    We had a 59 paladin (recipient of the shield), a 63 rogue, 61 chanter, 60 warrior, 60 cleric and 61 wizard. Also had a 50-ish beastlord and druid who were doing coterie on the bottom floor and came along for the ride so we tossed a couple spare torches at them.

    Only one we lost was the druid who got hit with the 1K proc right as Valdanov gated.

    did this part of the quest starting at 0 pottery skill after i found out that u get the sketch back on failure and sucseeded at making the figure with a finnal skill of 7 yes that right 7 still wasn't trivial but i would sugest that u just take out hand full of pocket change by some water and clay and make the figure yourself. finnal piece also appears to be unfailable as well.

    The idea is that you give the sketch to a master potter and he makes an unfired idol for you. He gives it to you, you fire it and make a shade summoning idol, and hand it in. However, even though your chance of failing is pretty large at low pottery, you can still get skill points doing the combines because you keep getting the sketch back. I went from 128 to 138 pottery failing the combines. I almost felt bad when I finally succeeded.

    The odd thing about this is that the UNFIRED figurine is lore, and tradeable. Once it's fired though, it's no drop. I believe the glaze is no drop too, so an unfired figurine is useless as you can't make the final figurine without the glaze.

    I was successful on the Figurine after 3 tries at 127 skill in Pottery. I'm betting that even below 100 skill you'd wouldn't fail for very long. The components don't cost much (cost me less than 1pp total), so failure isn't a big deal on it. And the quest items are returned if you fail, too.

    no it isnt no drop, its lore. it was not trivial at 123, but you get the sketch back when u fail making the figure. When you fire the figure, it was trivial at 123 pottery. i doubt u can fail that thoug, but dont risk it

    I worked on my faction for my Ogre warrior (read - starts dubious) for almost a year and can NOT do this quest yet.

    Now, I havent grouped much there, so my faction work is slow, but I have tried every quest that m6y char can do, and it took nine months almost just to get indiff to the guards. Also, there are about 5 factions in the city, Nathyn and his peops, Mag Colleg, Guards, Merchants, and what seems to be a misc noble faction that's indiff by default I think.

    My war was never kos to any of them in Katta, has never fouled Katta faction, and after many vamps and seru dead, and many many turn ins for faction quests I am indiff to guards and dubious to everthing else. My char has practically lived there since Luclin went live.

    In sum, this is a perfect example of how brainless some of us must be (present company included) to waste a year of my life thinking about this as if VI operates in good faith with its customers - HAR HAR on me. The GM's on Stormhammer gave Maldian (an admitted jackarse) the quest reward 6 months before the quest was working and refused to answer any questions about the quest to anyone else.

    I am done with this, and I would like to encourage the community to refuse to accept such terrible treatment from people we have graced with a great deal of fortune in the last three years. Never again will a game have the oppurtunities EQ had to define a genre with almost no risk, and I hope never again will a company fail so tremendously to take advantage of a similar, if lesser, coup de grace.

    Faction is represented by a number that goes from -3000 to +2000. Scowling is anything below -750. There will be adjustments to your base faction based on your race and religion and how much faction work you have done. Some quests are good for +1 faction, some for a lot more. Some NPCs are good for +/- 1 faction, some, like the named dragons in west wing in temple of veeshan are like -1000 faction hits (max ally to kindly in one kill, dubious on the second). Some of the faction adjustments are severe, such as failure to worship Cazic Thule in Cabilis, thats -1000 right there. Max out your Legion of Cabilis faction for a non-CT worshiper, and you are at indifferent. Get an enchanter to turn you into an iksar, and you are warmly. CT worshipers max out at warmly when they are not in iksar form.

    If you play an evil race/religion, it will be difficult to raise your faction to the point where you can do these quests. You may wish to hire an enchanter with the Project Illusion AA to make things easier.

    The chart of faction is approximately:
    below -750, scowling
    -750 to -501, threateningly
    -500 to -101, dubious
    -100 to -1, apprehensive
    0 to 100, indifferent
    100 to 499, amiable
    500 to 749, kindly
    750 to 1099, warmly
    1100 and above, ally

    get some facts straight, it is possible to get ally with any workable faction in the game, period. Religion and race only plays a role in starting faction, it doesn't "cap" faction lower than would otherwise be possible.

    The thing is some places have adjustments that you CANNOT overcome due to race/religion so you do cap somewhere.. mostly its things like mith mar in inny or inny in kelethin etc

    I'm starting to understand how you feel. Myself being a DE sk and working on faction well over a week and going on two. I have parsed my log nightly to see how much faction I should be gaining even after killing the blues and reds within Seru itself and that number as of last night has come to 317. When I started factioning for Katta and all its faction remnants I was "scowl"ed at. Well sadly even after all this factioning done I have not even remotely escalated from this stature on their idiotic faction scale. Obviously something is broken after reading your post and finding that you have only moved one or two levels thru the faction table after 9 months!
    I have also noticed that in a matter of one evening you can easily go from ally to threatening to some in no time at all. Spend a night and ruin faction easily? Spend a year and only gain two levels of faction? Something is definitely wrong. The only other suggestion is to bug the hell out of them to fix it and hope for the best.

    I'm really curious if anyone can tell me about how many mobs and frappin vampyre fangs a DE SK has to turn in to get good faction in Katta. I have been killing and turning in fangs for days now with no sight of improvement or is this one of SoE's sick jokes to make a person think they can faction but really cant? Sadly if anyone has a clue on an approximate value of how many vamps need killed and fangs turned in please let me know. I have whacked so many seru legionnaires and vamps that I'm starting to have nightmares in my sleep about them.

    I have hunted guards at TW zonein, and now am KOS to validous. The questgiver Phenic cons indiff to me, Nathyn faction is good, but a lvl 61 NPC next to Phenic called Keylara is scrowling and in line of sight. Sneak wont work. Any suggestions if I still can do the quest or if I have to repair Validous faction first?

    Here's a trick for making Sneak more useful -- if the KoS NPC is facing in a direction that makes your Sneak ineffective (for reaching another NPC in the same room), get a non-KoS friend to go and stand behind your KoS NPC and "Hail" it. More often than not, the NPC will turn to face them. Using this method, they can position the NPC so that you're always at their "back", which means that sneaking into the room will be safe for you now. Make sure they keep hailing, otherwise the NPC sometimes flips back around to their usual orientation after X seconds of no hailing.

So VI turned this quest on and ruined our camp spot on the balcony. ALAS killing heraltious did not make Valdanov spawn, Valdanov popped once, very rare, we got the call, went in and slayed him, he was alot harder then heraltious, had a 1k dmg thingy that almost smoked our MA a few times...he life tapped for like 370 too. He dropped ashes that identify as valdanov's ashes...i have heraltious ashes too, they lok the same (but are not)

    Since your signature indicates "Barbarian Oracle" it won't help you personally to know that there are two swords available to paladins with the Bane Vampyre damage component. It may enable a memeber of your party to inflict melee damage, however. "Reflective Combine Claidmore (sp?)" is a sword quested in Katta byy killing Coterie Assassins that spawn in various locations in Katta (quest info available on this site). It can be upgraded to "Ashbringer" which is quite nice when used against Vampyres. It too is quested in Katta, and the questinfo is posted on this site.

    You can buy Blessed Wooden Stakes in Katta that are 10/23 piercers against vampyres. They cost 1pp each, so you should be able to get an army equiped cheaply enough. I am going to use this method with my guild to see how it works as we do not have many of the level 60 range in the guild, but 30 level 40+ should hopefully be able to poke enough stakes in him to get the job done.

    Valdanov Zevfeer he is level 62 and immune to melee damage unless it has Bane:Vampyre.
    He Double hits for 370 max dmg (I PERSONALY KNOW)and has a lifetap when he hits (and it GOES OFF ALOT) for 1000hp lifedrain and heals himself. it took us over a hour of kiting him to finaly kill him as we had no bane weapons we had to spell blast him for over a hour. This fight is no Walk in the park he IS Invulnerable to all melee attacks unless you have a bane weapon. Honestly I think kiting is the best solution with a LOAD OF POWERFUL NUKERS AND TASHERS. this guys resistance is unreal without tash and I would recommend a Slower as well to slow him when they TASH him.

    A hour of running this guy around is no fun.

    Does anyone know if this guy is rootable/snareable as well as if he is slowable? On my pally my cleric friend and I were kiting another named vamp that couldn't be rooted or snared and it makes for one hell of a longer fight. Also, if anyone can tell me approximate numbers of how many it would take for this fight to last that hour long. I have a few 60 chanter and 60 wiz friends as well as plenty of high 50s druid friends so just want to know a general idea of a number in advance if anyone knows. Thanks in advance.

    After 35 pages and 600 something posts on this quest on the Safehouse, they finally added valdanov zevfeer in last patch, killing heratius grolden is the trigger apparently. That and from what i understand hes no walk in the park, yellow to 60, cant be damaged except by bane damage and hits for 300 max supposedly, 20khps or so, kinda sounds like a VS fight to me *shrug* ne ways its a lot more descriptive on safehouse

    nathyn shows up when u use sense undead in katta. So i assume this has something to do with his weird faction hits. The katta guards kill vamps so he doesn't like them, the coterie and other vamps know what he is and can give him away so he dislikes them too.

    If Maldian solved the quest he is not sharing the information, mostly he is taunting the Safehouse boards.

    Most people on the boards are skeptical about the item and his claims, and no further efforts have met with success.

    Its hard to say with recent patches if anything has changed either, and thus far no one has gotten any information regarding the quests viability from GM's

    Finally got all four robes, and now like everyone else, I am searching for Valdanov Zevfeer...

    Lot of death tonight - had a LD right at pull - everything went down hill from there - took two hours of dieing and regrouping to make it up. But we did it. Awesome quest.

    More on Autarkic Lord - he also boiling bloods and is immune to stun mez and though snares stick, he is still very fast. Root sticks well. We got him down to nothing 5 times and he would gate, CH, and then agro his 3 cronies. I suggest that even if you are in the same situation I got in only needing the one robe, that you fight in the building and kill the 3 underlings first and quickly so you will have no problems with the Lord.

    Almost caught up to the leading edge of this quest...but the main shade lord despawn while chasing down the otheres...

    I suggest getting a druid to pull the guards from Nathyns with wolf form to turn in key and spawn the imprisoned shade - makes things a lot easier - make sure they dont zone to fast.

    Turning the completed idol in to Firetree spawns the summoners - when I did this I wasnt ready, but they waited for me to give them the idol for a couple hours at least - aslo, we were lucky and one of the shades did not agro from the back corner.

    Anyone got new info on Valdanov or what Heratius ashes are for?

    Kerzaw spawns on top of the tunnel to GF - he is very resistant to snare and immune to stunn.

    The private gaurds are the only guards that agroed when I turned in key, and they didnt agro on me, but my wife, Beeppoe, who was standing by to pull the imprisoned shade. The shade agroed her first, because I was running as soon as I hit the trade button. But when Beeppoe zoned the guards and I pulled the shade, the guards agroed on me. We both ended up feared - he poison bolts too - and dead after taking turn zoning. Started over...
