At the bottom of the Arena in Sanctus Seru (Part 1), you will find Arena Master Ferin at -1735, -253, -68.

You say, 'Hail, Arena Master Ferin'

Arena Master Ferin says 'Hurry, hurry step right up and buy a ticket! Show your skills at battle! Amaze the crowds with your great skill! Buy a ticket from me, and when you think you are prepared for the fight give me the ticket!

He is a merchant. Just right-click to buy a ticket.

Arena Master Ferin says 'Hi there ______, just browsing? Have you seen the Arena Ticket I just got in?'

Arena Master Ferin tells you, 'That'll be 31 platinum 4 gold 9 silver 9 copper for the Arena Ticket'.

You give 31 platinum 4 gold 9 silver 9 copper to Arena Master Ferin.

Give him the ticket.

Arena Master Ferin says 'So you wish to show off your skills in the arena? Well come on let us see what you are made of! Be warned that this is a fight to the death, if a guard sees you fleeing like a coward they will assist in helping to finish you off!

Now, enter the Arena and begin the fight. You may fight an arena tiger, an arena wolf, or a lightcrawler .

You have entered an Arena (PvP) area.

An arena tiger tries to claw YOU, but misses!

The tiger is immune to fear and may see through invisibility.

You pierce an arena tiger for 60 points of damage.

You have slain an arena tiger!
You gain experience!!
--You have looted a Arena Medal.--

Give the Arena Medal to Arena Master Ferin.

Arena Master Ferin says 'Wonderful battle skills! You have pleased the audience. Here are a few coins for your valiant effort!

I fought a lightcrawler. It let me fight using both a merc and a pet. (Kind of unfair for my opponent, but there you have it.) As a reward, I received 19p, 6s, and 3c.

Not sure if anyone still cares about this zone, but in the interest of poking around Luclin with a new character I went to the arena to play with factions here. Having only hunted in Kunark my Sanctus Seru factions are mostly Indifferent to Glowering as a 56th wood elf ranger.

Did the arena quest 10 times, I jumped up a faction to amiable! Nice. :) All fights were green cons, even the Arena Tiger.

What mobs did you fight? Were there any faction hits from killing them?

This is a faction quest. At high charisma the ticket only costs 31pp but Ferin only carries 30 tickets. Once they are gone, they are gone until the zone is reset. The mob can be an arena tiger, an arena wolf, or a lightcrawler and their levels are not dependant upon the level of the person who turns in the ticket.

31pp per ticket might seem pricey but remember that many mobs in this zone drop 30+ platinum when killed. The amount of money you earn by turning the medal in is random.
Arena Wolf?

I just did this quest and it spawned a Arena Wolf, and it conned red to my 36 monk. I try to take it on and I just manage to get it down to 80%. I FD before it could kill me and after 5 min or so it de-spawns. This quest was a waste of plat for me.

Did this quest today with my 50 cleric, wasn't too hard, only had Temp and 10% spell haste on. A dark blue Arena Tiger spawned- I rooted and nuked, when root broke I tanked it until I could reroot, rinse and repeat. Wasn't hard at all, with KEI it'd be a cinch, and the faction is really good. If it'd been yellow, I'd've rooted and gated.

Well, I'm gullible enough to do this so I'll post back and let you know. Needed some place to solo to 50, anyway - my Ranger can pretty much tank the Arena Tiger (DB to me). First time I did it, I spent 39 plat on the ticket, and got 19 back. Put on some CHA gear, got it for 31, and got.... 9 back.

Edit: OK, wait a minute. I think I just figured out what the "surprise" could be - note that doing this quest raises faction with all of the Seru factions. I'm dubious to the Eye faction - the "Vigilum" folks. In fact, putting on Wolf form got me killed for my trouble last night, and the other indifferent folks went to dubious. I bet if you do this ten times, you will end up KOS to the Vigilum (because they oppose many of the other Seru factions that you're also raising), and will have a hell of a CR ahead of you. Does this make sense?

Do NOT bind yourself too close to the arena, the first time i did this with my 26 shammy i didnt know what to expect so i bound myself nearby. well i spawned an arena tigre and needess to say it mopped the foor with me, well when i respawned i was withing aggro range (these mobs seem to have a decent aggro radious) and got wiped out, over and over again, about 6 or seven subsequent deaths in all before it finay despawned. needless to say when i finay got a ceric over there after the 3rd body his reaction was jeez how many you got left? LOL.

Moral of the story is beware, and dont bind near the arena walls.

Level 39, almost 40, ranger here did this quest twice over the past 3 days on the Stromm server. The Arena Ticket cost me 32p (equipped with 2 opal encrusted steins). As soon as I handed it in to the Arena Master a scaled wolf spawned in the arena. It conned deep dark blue and since I had begged a Temp and gotten some other buffs before, I wasn't too worried. Well that little wolf almost beat me, at one point it was at 20% while I was fast slipping below 15% health. Then a few lucky double attacks later, i was ahead and had it beaten with me at 11% and totally oom. I didn't keep track of the xp, but I'm guessing at half a blue bubble at 39. I looted the Arena Medal and upon returning it to the Arena Master I got back 19p and a boatload of faction from the usual Seru crowd, plus 1 negative hit from Katta citizens as usual.
Then I called some guildies who wanted a go at it. A level 49 cleric gave it a try, he spawned anothe scaled wolf that con'd yellow to me (39) and blue to him. He made the mistake of leaving the pvp area for a second and was attacked by one of the librarians. The Arena Master warns you about this, so listen to what the NPC's say and follow their instructions. There were about 4 of us in the arena and we all took shots at the wolf and the librarian. Thankfully no other guards joined in. I'm a real suck for faction so I didn't hit the librarian, only the wolf. After they were both dead, the pally looted the Arena Medal and handed it in for some plat and faction.
I had another shot at it alone 2 days later. This time I spawned an Arena Tiger, eek, it con'd yellow "wipe the floor with me" !!! And it did just that. It was immune to changes in it's movement speed, could not be feared, double hit me for 50 - 70 pts damage and was very hard for me to hit at all. The last thing I saw before the lights went out was the tiger at 68%. That's after using all my puny ranger nukes and dots on it. 10 seconds into the fight, I knew I was a goner.
The next time I visit this arena, I'll be bringing some friends, just in case. It does seem that the arena spawn is geared to the level of the person handing in the ticket, maybe with different tactics (I really am a newbie) it could have been taken by a 39 ranger, but not by this one this time. Also, maybe a level 1 could hand in the ticket, have a higher level kill the spawn, then level 1 loots the medal? Just make sure level 1 stays inside the pvp area, even if cowering in a corner. Not sure if the spawn will only aggro on who hands in the ticket?
A nice bit of role-playing fun. I was a crowd pleaser twice, once for winning and one for losing, lol.

Okay,

So messing around I did this quest. Arena Wolf was cake. I slowed and rooted, had pet eat for lunch, Threw a medium DOT to speed things up. I never took one point of damage, pet lost less than one bubb. However the second the Arena Wolf was down my pet freaked out and attacked the arena master who is a DEAD RED CON to ME. It quickly hit "Go Away" to kill pet and the Arena Master Agroed on me..... So I had to run to the zone.

may try this again later to figure out what made my pet decide to attack this fella.

Okay the Sanctus Seru Arena Medal, every time you turn it in you get a different amount of coin. And each time you do it the spawn is different. the reason he is unfearable cause if he leaves the arena BOOM everyone in Sanctus Seru is on YOUR **** for cheating. I have spawned a Lightcrawler, an Arena Tiger, and an Arena Wolf. There are probably more, all of em posed no problem to a 60 ranger but meh.
Lvl of Mob
# May 21 2002 at 6:37 AM Rating: Decent
Ok this mob is atleast 42 in lvl he is not based off the lvl of the person handing in the ticket. Me and a friend tried to take him me with my 27th Monk and Him with his 25th Warrior well he died. I got feign off on the second try and then waited for mob to despawn. We brought a 52 Bard guildmate and restarted quest Bard help to kill him. I say he is atleast 42 because the Bard was 52 and it conned Dark blue to him and took him dont to 2 yellows. I looted amulet and handed it in.

# May 11 2002 at 7:27 PM Rating: Decent
The latest publish repaired this little dwarven fellow. He no longer attacks you UNLESS your faction is bad with him (he is amiable to me, so I believe he is on Shoulder or Head of Seru Faction).

Not sure what caused this, but tonight in SS while doing some banking I was suddenly attacked from behind. After the shock wore off, I turned around and some little guy (Defender of the Arx) was trying his best to reduce me to a pile of Kitty Poo. Fortunately my warder was sitting next to me and jumped in and took on agro while I ran for the nearest zone.

I have been in SS about 50 times and never had anything attack me. Anyone know what the heck caused this all of a sudden?

I cannot find anything about this faction or character anywhere - am I missing something?

There is a dwarf Defender that wanders around various parts of Sanctus Seru. As far as I know he is KOS to everybody. He is the one people are talking about when they say they were in Sanctus and the "Defender" got them.

Could possibly be more than one of these guys, I just know that I've seen him in a few different places.

The arena tiger was blue to me, sometimes light blue, at level 53. There was also an arena wolf, which was always green (looks like a scaled wolf, only red... similar to the chokidai hounds in chardok), and a lightcrawler, also green at 53. Just by level, I would say that the arena tiger is the toughest one, but the lightcrawler also has their lightcrawler flash to give it a bit of a boost in power.

On a side note, I think that some of the guard NPCs in and around Seru are a bit out of whack... one night, my ranger was hunting in Dawnshroud, and had to run from a couple wolves. I figured I would train them to the guards at Seru to get rid of them, but when I got there, and the wolf ran past the guard, the guard attacked ME instead! He nearly killed me (level 44 ranger); he hit for maximum damage because I was sitting behind him trying to regain mana while the wolf was on it's way, but I was quick enough to zone after losing about 350hp to his round of sucker punches. I hope that was just a fluke and that the other guards don't assist monsters in other zones, like they do near the Arena inside Seru!

The guards attacking people who have mob agro seems to be a general issue in SoL. In Fungus Grove if you train anything into the outpost that leads to Echo the guards will attack YOU! I haven't been able to reproduce that in other zones yet but I've found similar results where the guards do nothing at all. Hopefully a bug that VI will address...at some point. I was exploring with my 55 warrior here and ran into the arena tiger wandering the city. He evidently ate some ranger that triggered the quest but wasn't prepared for what happend. I was able to kill him and while looking for the guy to give the medal back to I found some cages in the lower arena area that have aliens in them. Watch out for them as they are NOT locked in there, they can and WILL let themselves out and proceed to eat you. Again, the guards ASSISTED the mobs. I wasn't too impressed. As for the arena tiger he was blu to me at 55, I triggered it once on my own just for fun, I had 60% life left after the fight, aprox 1800hp.

bouncers in feerot will attack you if u try to take a greenblood zombie to them. both on ogre sk faction. only thing to do is quit attacking and try to make it to zone. zombie is annoying mob in feerot usually around the bridge to lizard camps and temple.
RE: Other possible spawns...
# Jun 13 2002 at 12:36 AM Rating: Decent
Actually the guards dont agro off hand in Fungus Grove. Its the citizens hidden around the corners. Most people have only decent guard faction, but dubious citizen faction. I found out that once you agro the citizens, the guards decide to be the last ones standing and kill everything but the citizens. Novel concept, they doing their jobs eh? heh To fix this, you need to do the Amulet of the Haven quest several times really quickly. About 15 times will move the Citizen faction out of dubious, allowing you to use both banks, and much much more.

My level 34 warrior buddy decided he wanted to try this quest, so myself (30 druid), the warrior and a 30 wizzy took the trip there to see what the fuss was about.
After paying about 40pp for his ticket, and giving the ticket back to the merchant, a lightcrawler spawned in the arena. The crawler was red to my warrior friend, so the idea was for me to heal him and for the wizzy to DS and to nuke if needed.
Long story short, that lightcrawler was BAD. He resisted all wizzy's nukes, and tore my warrior friend up, even through the extra 2000 hps of heals I gave him.
Since you are not allowed to run (the guards will kill you) our wizzy friend started up an evac, but unfortunately the warrior died, seconds before the evac. Last I checked before the port, the crawler was just under half health.

This might be a very good group xp generator, but it was a lot more than the 3 of us could handle.

Good Luck

Aren't there any ways to raise faction in just one city? Seru or Katta. Without messing with the other? Before you flame me, yes I know they are opposing factions... but it just seems to me that there has to be a quest for one of the cities that the other just doesn't care about.

You get + seru factions when you kill the Recuso's in marus seru and you get lots of faction hits too when you kill thought leeches in mons letalis (although those are much much tuffer) neither of these gives any bad katta factions.. then you can do several quests that go between shadowhaven and katta to raise both those cities.. also kill lots of Coterie to get katta guard and nathyn factions (nathyn is important because almost all the katta quests LOWER nathyn faction so its good to have it at dubious or higher since you have to pass his castle to get from Twilight to Tenebrous or vice versa. Also when you kill vampires you get 3 different quest items that you can turn in for more katta factions.. and there are a bunch of quests that you can do that have only + faction hits.. yes it will take a little work but its no where near like the velious factions and they arent total opposites in that theres other ways to raise the factions..

if velious was set up like this, then for example you could get +giant faction killing in wakeninglands and plane of growth, and + coldain for killing rygorr and wurms in great divide.. verant didnt let you do that since they wanted you to have to choose.. and yes it is possible to be Giant-Dorf, or Dorf-Dragon.. the Dragon-Giant is theoritically possible as is all 3 but you would be working on faction ALLLLL the time for several several months... the easiest IMHO and the most benefit is Giant-Dwarf.. kill giants and do the shawl quests through #3 or 4 until they stop giving exp and faction (/rude verant on that btw) and the first couple ring quests and you be ally easy with coldain.. then go kill in skyshrine until kromzek is high enuf to turn stuff into Capt Bev in kael and most of his quests raise all 3 giant factions but dont lower coldain.... or just kill giants to be liked by dragons and dorfs but dragons suck since verant never finished skyshrine the way they were going to.

Considering the people of Seru tried to kill the people of Katta...

This is just like in Velious: You have to choose between the giants and the dwarves. You make your own bed and sleep in it.

Actually.. There are various creatures in the surrounding zones that you can kill to raise factions within each city that don't cause hurt to the opposing city.

I personally am going with Katta faction. I've looked at many of the quests in Seru and see way too many faction problems within the city itself. Hand vs. eye vs. shoulder.. Bah!

Plus the quests in Katta seem to have far superior rewards.

Don't forget the Dragons as well, and it is possible to have good faction with both giants and dwarves, just very difficult. Kill giants till good faction with Dwarves then kill dragons till good faction with giants, at least that is what my friends tell me can be done, don't know for sure as I am currently on Dwarf/Dragon faction

Actually you don't have to kill any giants. You start out apprehensive to the dorfs and there are many quests that give out Giant faction without hurting Coldain. I was allied with Storm, dubious to Tormax and dubious to Frost Giants, while still maintaining my Coldain faction. However, if what you are looking for is the ability to quest dorf and giant armor, then it requires more work since you have to be Amiable to do those.
