Steaon Alarenier is inside the building just north when zoning from the Nexus. He can be found using the Find option as they are an Alchemy Supplies NPC.

    You say, 'Hail, Steaon Alarenier'

Steaon Alarenier says 'Hail ______. You will have to excuse me because I am quite busy with my work and trying to sort out my [deliveries]. However, please help yourself to anything in my store that may be to your liking.'

    You say, 'What deliveries?'

Steaon Alarenier says 'You see, I have to make more and more deliveries everyday, what with my business growing so much. I find it difficult to make time to go pick up the different skins and pelts I need for my trade. It's tough when you need some good help but can't afford to pay them. Sorry to bother you with my banter, perhaps I will find someone on the [way to the bazaar].'

You say, 'I am on my way to the bazaar.'

Steaon Alarenier says 'You are, eh ______? Well then if you wanted to
pick up some supplies for me and deliver them to my partner in the Bazaar I'm sure I would be very grateful. Would you like to make a [trip to the bazaar]?'

You say, 'I will make a trip to the bazaar.'

Steaon Alarenier says 'All right! Great to hear that ______. Here are the supplies I need delivered to my partner Gearo in the Bazaar. Please take them to him and return with whatever he has picked up for me. I look forward to seeing you soon, and thank you.'

You receive Assorted Tailoring Supplies. Go to the Bazaar and find Gearo at 0, -20, in the circular room labeled "Merchants."

    You say, 'Hail, Gearo'

Gearo says 'Hello there friend. My name is Gearo and as you can see I'm a Gnome, so what can I do for ya?'

    Give him the supplies.

Gearo says 'Ah you were sent from Steaon I see. So what's that tall drink of water up too? He must be busy at the store if he has you delivering his supplies for him. Well enough about all that. If he has trusted you to bring his supplies here I suppose I can give you these gems I picked up for him. Will you [take the gems] to him?'

You say, 'I will take the gems.'

Gearo says 'Good ______! Here they are, please take them back to that gargantuan barbarian and let him know I want a raise for all this hard work!'

You receive a Bag of Assorted Gems. Head back to Shadow Haven and give it to Steaon.

Steaon Alarenier says 'Hey again ______. It's nice to see you back so soon, thank you for bringing my supplies to that crazy Gnome and bringing back my gems that he got for me. You are always welcome in my shop, good luck to you!'

I have found this to be a pretty efficient way of raising your Traders of the Haven faction. If nothing else, it can be done easier at a lower level than the Traders of the Haven quest.
I recommend a couple of social macros on your hotbar though. One to tell Steaon "I will make a trip to the bazaar", one to tell Gearo "I will take the gems" and then cast Gate, and an Autoinventory macro. Examples in the spoiler.

    Title: Steaon
Line 1: /say I will make a trip to the bazaar.

    Title: Gearo
Line 1: /say I will take the gems
Line 2(Omit if non-caster): /cast (whatever spell slot Gate is in)

    Title: AutoInv
    Line 1: /autoinventory

(Times don't factor in loading; also done with only one trial, so treat it as an estimate)

    As a Caster class:

    1. Bind yourself in front of Steaon
    2. Tell him "I will make a trip to the bazaar", then put the tailoring supplies in your inventory.
    3. Run out the door and head to the Nexus stone.
    4. Once you get to the Nexus, turn right(so that you're facing SOUTH). and go straight until you hit a wall, then turn left(so that you're facing EAST), then follow that pathway. This will take you to the Bazaar.
    5. Go straight out the hallway and you'll find yourself in a circle of merchants. Directly on the opposite side of the central column from where you come in at(The EAST side) is Gearo. Run up to him, hand him the supplies, tell him "I will take the gems.", and Gate back to Steaon.
    6. Hand the gems to Steaon.

    Time with SoW: ~45 seconds.
    Time without SoW: ~55 seconds.

    As a Melee class:

    1. Get to Steaon, tell him "I will make a trip to the bazaar, then put the tailoring supplies in your inventory.
    2. Run out the door to the Nexus stone.
    3. Once you get to the Nexus, turn right(so that you're facing SOUTH). and go straight until you hit a wall, then turn left(so that you're facing EAST), then follow that pathway. This will take you to the Bazaar.
    4. Go straight out the hallway and you'll find yourself in a circle of merchants. Directly on the opposite side of the central column from where you come in at(The EAST side) is Gearo. Run up to him, hand him the supplies, tell him "I will take the gems.", and toss the gems into your inventory.
    5. Turn around, run back into the Nexus, and backtrack to the central portal hall where you came in. Take the eastern portal which will take you back to Shadowhaven.
    6. You pop in facing East, so turn left(so you now face NORTH), and run across the bridge. Steaon's shop is the first door to your right.

Time with SoW: ~80 seconds | 1 minute, 20 seconds
Time without SoW: ~95 seconds | 1 minute, 35 seconds

    Not great for Fordel Quarter
    # Sep 11 2007 at 6:48 PM Rating: Decent
This is a quick, easy, and safe faction quest for Traders of the Haven (those found around the general area of the Nexus - lower Shadowhaven). I went from Apprehensive to the quest giver to:

  • Indifferent in 1 round trip
  • Amiable in 2 more round trips
  • Kindly in 8 more round trips
  • Warmly in 5 more round trips

  • However when I went back to the dubious vendor I had tried to do business with in upper Shadowhaven (the Fordel Quarter) she was still dubious and would have nothing to do with me.

I had to do the Smuggler Reports quest from Mistala Glimmerblade to fix faction with Fordel Quarter. I went from Dubious with Mistala to:

  • Apprehensive in 2 round trips
  • Indifferent in 2 more round trips
  • Amiable in 3 more round trips
  • and got sick of it so didn't try for Warmly

  • and that took care of Fordel Quarter.

I've read a few posts of people saying "Faction X is amiable, but Faction Y is still dubious, wtf??"

When you see "Your faction rating with X got better!" that doesn't mean if you do something else to gain Faction X it will go up the same amount. Many quests / mob kills will raise and lower multiple factions but *NOT THE SAME AMOUNT*

Meaning House of Midst could go up 10 points while Traders of the Haven goes up 50.

I would venture a guess that if you want to raise a faction that isn't high enough yet, see which mobs in Shadowhaven are on that faction and look for a faction quest that NPCs in that area will give out.

Shadowhaven is split up into the various Houses in sections of the town. I don't recall which is which offhand, but if you hail various NPCs in an area you want to raise faction, one should mention the house name (Fordel, Midst or Stout)

If I remember rightly, and I may be wrong...

-Midst is the caster/monk area off that hanging twisty bridge. You'll find Int caster spells and items here.

-Fordel is the large area in the middle of Shadowhaven with all the bars, etc, and MAY include the BST/Druid/Ranger/Shaman trainers, I'm not sure.

-Stout is where all the small races are, in the area north of the portin from the Nexus. If you are a smith like myself, you will want to raise this faction, as they sell many smithing supplies there.

Anyway, roam around whichever area you want to raise faction and see which quests are given out there. Doing quests for them will raise faction to a higher extent than quests given by the other Houses or the Traders.

    Hope it helps!

I placed on two CHA buff items before doing this (117). I binded myself in front of Steaon and got the kit and ran to Gearo. After giving the kit and getting the gems, I gated right back in front of Steaon. Gave the gems and got faction. By the third trip my faction with the Traders was amiably. Guards where apprehensive, and bazaar folk indifferent. I also hotkeyed everything you had to say. after 6 tirps no change and I got board. Will do more some other time.

I did this with my 25 Vah Shir Bard here is how it went.
I got sowed up and ran back and forth as many times as i could before it ran out. I didn't count but it was about 20 exchanges. I got mixed results. My faction went from aprehensive to ally with all the merchants on the nexus end of SH. However all the merchants from the bazaar entrance to the paludal end remained dubious to me. Why is this? What is the name of the faction of the rest of SH? Its obviously not Traders of the Haven.

I am an Ogre and looking for a home outside of Ogguk. I looked up this quest and said what the hell I'll give it a shot I've got nothing to lose. I am a shaman so I bound myself at Steaon. I asked him for the sewing kit and was off to the Bazaar. Side note I made hot tabs so I didn't have to keep typing made it easier on me. Got to Gearo gave him the sewing kit. I asked for the GEMS and he gave them to me. I know some people say Gems doesn't work but it did for me. So I gated back to Steaon and gave him the gems. In a matter of 1 hour I went from dubios to ally. And with a CHA buff that got me to 82 it helped.

The NPCs at the Paladin/Cleric guild in Shadow Haven are on two different factions. Many of the merchants are on the Traders of the Haven faction, whereas the Paladin Trainer is on the House of Fordel faction. Steaon's Deliveries has the quickest effect with the Traders and only a small effect with the other three quadrants. If you want to improve your House of Fordel faction, try Mistala's Reports.

When I first did this quest and saw all those faction adjustments, I figured I'd be good to go in Shadow Haven after a few times. Being a human, those little Stouts were all dubious to me. I did this quest enough times to become an ally to Steaon and the members of his quadrant of Shadowhaven, but I was still dubious to the shorties.

I went to the Patriarch of the Stouts and learned about their Mining Operation quest. After doing only this first part of the Mining Operation quest (quick delivery in Paludal Caverns), I immediately got the jump to apprehensive with the Stouts' quadrant. I cannot prove that one more of Steaon's deliveries would not have taken my Stout faction to apprehensive as well, but the Mining quest seemed to carry more faction weight with the Stouts.

Despite doing Steaon's quest for the 4 faction improvements, I'm still apprehensive to the merchants in the eastern section of Shadow Haven, which suggests that I need to do a "weightier" faction quest with their quadrant.

Why do I care about Shadow Haven faction? Because its a great source of raw materials for many trade skills. If you too are interested in Shadow Haven faction, you might check the list of all Shadow Haven quests.

    4 Quadrants

Think about this all of you who say that this quest is only raising one faction considerably: There are 4 quadrants and each one has faction quests. I suggest doing the quest(s) from the quadrant you wish to raise the faction in the most.
    Where's the Barb

I've gone to the aforementioned loc near the soulbinder and there is no one behind the counter. Does the NPC leave periodically for any reason or is this quest broken? Any input appreciated.

Answered my own question....apparently the Barb was relocated from the shop to a portion of the teleporter to prevent bottle-necking in the shop, a great idea, though I wish it was reflected a little better in the quest description. Hope this helps anyone else who was confusled like me.
