Finally got the items again, but the cape trivial is HIGHER than 41. I'll keep trying!

Okay, here is the text for handing in the materials. I'll try and sum it up better than the bit of confusion already in the summary you have. Factions have been corrected below as the x2 event is still happening.

Fill the Sealed Cask Sentry Ferin gave you with x6 Poached Hides that drop off the Loda Kai Poachers. Try to grab x3 Drops of Loda Kai blood if you are in the caverns. They drop from Loda Kai Traders.

You then want to speak to Sentry Ferin again to get another Sealed Cask and fill it with x6 Poached Hides. This will then get you x2 Hero's Shroud which are needed for the next step

Make your way to Kojinn Kaa who wanders around Priestest Bast.

Your summary is correct about what recipe is needed (though one of the items is named wrong). It is unclear who gives the recipe, or how the original poster knew about it. The Trivial is not known, though it is believed to be over 30.

In a Large Sewing Kit or Loom, combine:

x2 Hero's Shrouds
x1 Pattern (Kojinn Kaa gave you this)
x1 Shade Silk thread

Now you need the x3 Drop of Loda Kai Blood to give to Priestess Bast for the next step.

When you combine the 6 poached hides, the item returned is a Sealed Cask

This is a Great quest for alias starting armor I found it to be easy and rewarding.

With Tailoring at 54 (thanks to the Abysmal Sea freebies) I just failed the combine.
17 Kitty BST, so I have no problem soloing the Loda Kai cave, but this is annoying due to the scarcity of the blood drops.
Ah well, after turning in the poached hides twice I'm now at Ally faction and the Loda Kai Traders are still Dark Blue so I'm getting Exp as well (occasionaly a Poacher will be Light Blue, but usually green).

Just did the combine with a tailoring skill of 6 so i dont think its to hard my 2cp

Had a skill level of 43 in Tailoring. Got this cloak on the second try. No trival message.

For lower levels (8 to 12) target the camps and near them in the valley to collect the skins. When you get a bit older, around 15, you can tear into the cave and comeout with everything you need.

However, if you are a twink (which I am not at all) you will be able to do this much earlier then I was able to.

If you are looking for a new challenge, log-in to a different server with no friends or money and on a level 1 character. I have renewed my love for the game at last!

I began this quest yesterday and got one hero's mantle in about 3 hrs. Took me that long just to get the first 6 poached hides. I got 3 mantles total,1 to wear and 2 to make The Champion's Cloak. I made the cloak on my first try with a tailoring skill of 19. My dex was only @ 116. Dunno if that DEX really made a difference, though I've heard it does. Haven't got the bloods yet, but during the time that I was killing traders in the cave I hadn't seen any. Who knows? I think this quest is excellent for lower levels. I used my 11 VAH/ROG and had minimal problems with it, that being the time put into it.

I have gotten my shrouds, but while killing the loda kai's I never once saw any blood drops and I have killed many. my question is do they still drop blood? if so it must be very very rare drop.

She can be found hidden within some rock formations directly left of exiting the city. Just walk around there a bit.

I did this quest, took me a few hours as the pelts just weren't dropping. I finally went to combine the items, and it said I "..lacked the skills..." etc... and lost all the stuff. I was NOT happy. I was only doing it since I was bored anyway, and at 36 I can get better equipment. I never bothered to try again.

The Hero's Shroud is definately worth doing once, even if you don't want to bother with the cape. It is a nice shoulder piece. I am going to get my tailoring up and some levels under my belt before trying for the cape.
