This is a series of armor quests for newbie Iksar Beastlords. They are given out by Prime Patriarch Vuzx in the upper level of the shaman guild of East Cabilis.

Beastlord 1st Test of the Patriarch

You say, 'Hail, Prime Patriarch Vuzx'

Prime Patriarch Vuzx says 'Greetings. I only train those who follow the path of the Patriarchs of Cabilis and have yet to develop their [powers] over the beasts of the wild, or maybe you are trained and are here to [help aid in our cause]?'

    You say, 'What powers?'

Prime Patriarch Vuzx says 'A Patriarch of Cabilis must learn to survive the hard way, by heading into the wild lands and mastering the creatures that reside in them. First you must learn to defeat even the most insignificant of nuisances. Go from this temple and return to me with four Leech Husks that have been skinned from the creatures by your own claws.'

Bring him four leech husks from the Swamp of No Hope. They are dropped by a swamp leech and a giant swamp leech.

Prime Patriarch Vuzx says 'I requested the husks of four leeches.'
Prime Patriarch Vuzx says 'I requested the husks of four leeches.'
Prime Patriarch Vuzx says 'I requested the husks of four leeches.'
Prime Patriarch Vuzx says 'Well done young patriarch! I believe you are ready to face larger nuisances that prowl outside our city walls. Head out to the Field of Bone and return to me bearing three Spiderling Silks and a Scarab Carapace'
Your faction standing with Scaled Mystics has been adjusted by 5.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis has been adjusted by 1.
    You gain experience!!

    Reward: Patriarch's Bracer

Beastlord 2nd Test of the Patriarch

When you bring the leech husks back from the first quest, Prime Patriarch Vuzx asks you to bring him back three spiderling silks and one scarab carapace. These drop in the Field of Bone from: Bonecrawler Hatchling, Bonebinder Hatchling, Emerald Scarab, Carrion Beetle Hatchling.

(You may also loot a scarab carapace from an Emerald Fencer if you have someone that will kill one for you - approx level 14)

Prime Patriarch Vuzx says 'I requested three spiderling silks and the carapace of a scarab.'
Prime Patriarch Vuzx says 'You have overcome sturdy yet unintelligent creatures that plague our kind. You are now ready to face our foes that are more intelligent than the insects you have defeated. We have many foes possessing a degree of intelligence, the least of these foes being the tribes of goblins that inhabit our Empires lands. Even now there are goblin watchers prowling just outside our gates. Locate four of these watchers, slay them and return to me with their Goblin Watcher Signal Torches.'
Your faction standing with Scaled Mystics has been adjusted by 5.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis has been adjusted by 1.
    You gain experience!!

    Reward: Patriarch's Cap

Beastlord 3rd Test of the Patriarch

Upon completing the second Beastlord Quest, Prime Patriarch Vuzx asks you to bring him four Watcher Signal Torch. They are found in the Lake of Ill Omen and Warsliks Woods (A Goblin Watcher).

Prime Patriarch Vuzx says 'I requested four goblin watchers torches.'
Prime Patriarch Vuzx says 'I requested four goblin watchers torches.'
Prime Patriarch Vuzx says 'You have triumphed over the watchers, young patriarch, but they are among the weakest of our sentient foes. Mere fodder sent to warn to the more powerful goblins of an opportunity to strike. It is time for you to face the Goblin Hunters, and learn of our enemies the Sarnak, a species of dragonmen that once served the Iksar Empires of old. Journey to the wilderness and return with two Goblin Hunter Javelins and two Sarnak Broodling Fangs.'
Your faction standing with Scaled Mystics has been adjusted by 8.

Prime Patriarch Vuzx says, 'I requested two Goblin Hunter Javelins and two Sarnak Broodling Fangs.'
Prime Patriarch Vuzx says, 'Now you will learn of another enemy of the Legion of Cabilis, the frogloks. The frogloks from the froglok settlement of Krup often sent their tuk warriors to prey on unsuspecting Iksar citizens that venture outside the gates of Cabilis. Of note, the current information offered was good for where to hunt. I never strayed terribly far from the area around +4715, -4236. Even if there are no Sarnak broodlings up, my advice is to just kill all roaming mobs in the area and they will show up.

Getting the Javelins was easy, the fangs took me a couple of hours and I was probably lucky. It also seemed like the mobs came in waves, like I would have a lot of goblins up at once and after killed I might see a bunch of broodlings again, or iksar bandits. I also saw more Sarnaks at night. Might be a total coincidence. My advice is to target the Goblin Hunters first as they can and will kill Sarnak broodlings.

    where do leeches spawn?
    # Jul 27 2003 at 6:19 AM Rating: Default
maybe I'm blind, but I spent a LOT of time looking for those leeches and simply can't find them ! Any information about where to find them is welcome. Thx
    RE: where do leeches spawn?
    # Feb 18 2004 at 8:45 PM Rating: Decent
There is an easy way to get those leeches, safely.

When you take the teleporter that send you to the BL guild in Cabilis, turn left. You'll see a passage and a ladder. Go down. There are maybe 4 or 5 ladders like that.

You'll end up in some corridors with merchants and guildmasters. Wander there a bit until you see a corridor with a different color of walls. Go there.

You'll see a big room with a hole in the middle. Jump down.

Now there's a passage that leads you to a little room with two static mobs and a roaming scorpion.

Here you are. The static mobs are the ones you need to kill. They can be a mosquito, a skeleton, a banned iksar or a leech.

The respawn rate is really fast. Kill both and they will repop before you finish looting.

You may need to wait until you're 3 or 4 to survive the fall though. Also, the banned iksar was blue at level 5 but easy to kill with bare hands.

    Good luck. :)

Well with the newbie area in Swamp of No Hope not having any mobs, another thing that is broken that verant doesn't want to fix. I hear this has been broken for a while now.

You can get the husks by going thru the tunnel to the underground portion of the city. Need to take the stairs down to the water, jump in, then turn around. Watch for baracuda's they will attack. Swim down the tunnel til you get to one of the air pockets, then page up and you should be able to jump in there. There are many invis walls that you will go thru and can't go back. Have fun with this. Just need to jump back into the water and swim back to a previous opening.

just did the first three parts of the quest.

    - found the leeches (easy enough) in Swamp of No Hope.
    - just go south from zone in from Cabilis.
    - you have skellies, mosquitos, leeches and frogloks (Tads and Skippers) in the area.
    - the husks also drop from the giant leeches.
    - drop rate was 1 out of 5 ish.

Edit: finished it. luv it :) but indeed, the bucklers are the toughest part...

Minor correction monks don't get a weapon but the shackle of tynnonium is a very nice wrist item so your point is still valid.

I don't see beastlords as being screwed over just because of the lack of one quest or item though, lol.

It's just as easy to pick up some watcher torches from one of the kloks in loio if you're having bad luck with the torch spawns. They're only 6 or 7 copper for my bst with base charisma.

Ok, answers from one who had a high level Iksar BST but had problems "in game" with not much help from guides or GMs, so I had to start another BST all over.

First of all, I would like to say those of you that have posted are doing well with these quests. The torches you need are the torches from the Goblin Watchers from LOIO and they also can be found in WW also. There is also a NPC Warlord or Captain there, in WW, who asks for 3 of the very same torches. You get exp, faction, and an aloe swatch used for Bind Wound skill.

So, working on the last BST quest are we? First, you must be Lvl 20 as then the Tuks will be even or blue to you. If you do not see a 'shield' icon in their left hand, they are not going to drop one for the looting.

You are also better off fighting near the froglok city, as more often than not the wondering froggies will not have these bucklars. Watch out for those spell-slinging shammy froggies too.

It would be best to from a group before doing this quest, but you can do it solo too. If you do choose to go solo ( or just cannot find anyone willing to group there ) make sure you have all your lastest spells for your Lvl before venturing there. It will be on this battlefield where you and your Warder will truly have your 'bond' tested.

It is not going to be easy or pretty. This is one tough fight. I soloed this quest, and did loot off of left-alone corpses.

Your reward is a Patriarch's Tunic, but I must admit I forget its stats.

    I hope this helps.

I did this about a week ago. The mobs run around carrying the torches. They are the right ones.

Here are a few details I have discovered doing these quests just far...

Here are the levels that i completed each each, just doing them as i leveled.

Bracer 6 (was easy at 6, probably could have been 4)

Cap 7 (easy at 7, killed 4 greenies and it was over)

Pants 8 ( the watchers were blue, and not hard for a non-twink 6kills i got the 4 torches)

Claw 10 (the hunters were a wee bit hard to kill at 8 some were yellow, broodlings were blue at 8 so i waited to get the pet and a heal spell, then it was cake)

This is all i have done so far, at lvl 11 just got the tar beat out of me by 2 of the tuk guys, getting 12 then attempting again, i love newbie quests=)

Having just started an Iksar beastlord from scratch... I got the bracer at first level (swamp leeches are easy, got lucky on the drops)
Got the cap just after hitting third (biggest problem is getting the spiders alone and getting them to drop spiderling silks)
Still working on the goblin watchers (if you can get them alone, I've managed to kill yellows at level 4 with no equipment other than the above and a curscale tunic). 3 torches so far. Nice thing about being beastlord is scaled wolves are amiable (sabertooths are dubious, but I haven't played any other Iksar so I don't know if that's true for all or just beastlords) so that's one (two?) less thing(s) to aggro on you while hunting.

So far they've all been easy.

I started the bracer quest at 3rd, dung 4th before getting the last husk but got it shortly after dinging 4th.

the cap was really easy, I had all the pieces and then some before I dung 5th, I hung around killing hatchlings and bugs until I dung 5th.

the leggings were also easy, 4 watchers = 4 torches, I didn't even work up a sweat, they were blue at 5th and got the first 3 at the same time (I attacked one then two more joined in as we were fighting, I was barely hurt).

Still 5th, I logged out after getting the legs, I'll probably wait until 9th for the claw since they'll likely all con red to me at 5th.

I've only managed to get 2 shields so far after killing in the Swamp for an entire lvl... I usually kill near the broken statues & it seems to me that only the Tuk Warriors who visibly wield a rusty sword drop the buckler... I've killed hundreds of shamans, knights, & non-wielding warriors & they have never dropped the buckler...

The goblin watchers are around lvl 8 or so i think, just go right outside the city and hunt them they are not far from the entrance. Don't think they are high lvl gobbies just because its LOIO, theres lower level mobs there too and a nice newb zone =)

Do these quests need to be done in a specific order? Or can you jump from one to another.
Guess I will create an Iksar BL and find out.

    Sarnak Broodling Fangs
    # Feb 07 2002 at 8:44 AM Rating: Default
I've now spent about 12 hours trying to get my fangs. I've killed probably 40 sarnak broodlings and probably around 150 gobs in the area. I've let so many hunter spears rot it isn't funny, yet I haven't gotten a single fang yet.

Its good experience hunting the area, but I'm running out of white cons and haven't seen a yellow since hitting 10. I'm now one bubble from 11, which means there will be no more white cons and more light blues and greens.

I didn't want to twink the character too much, but if I don't get the fangs soon, I'm just gonna pop over to Dawnshroud with my cleric and get some ulaks.

    </rant>

Edit: On another board someone mentioned that they thought the cats where on the same spawn table. I wasn't killing them the previous 12 hours and was sticking to gobs, bandits, skelies, and sarnaks.

For this last hour, I added cats to the list of creatures and I did seem to get more Sarnak Broodlings to spawn, so it seems they are on the same table. I finally managed to get the two fangs so now it is on to the last step. This time I will be killing everything in the area whether it agros me or not.

    RE: Sarnak Broodling Fangs
    # Feb 16 2002 at 10:17 AM Rating: Default
I had trouble finding fangs myself. I figured the main problem was that the goblins were killing off the Sarnaks too often (since I was running out of ideas).

So what I did was kill every goblin (hunter and outrider) I saw, and of course every Sarnak Broodling I saw (which was easy to do, untwinked at lvl 10-11) and after 30 kills I had my first fang drop just before I was going to just give up. The next one dropped 5 or so kills later (probably lucky). Never touched a cat, and noone else was hunting nearby, so I don't think they are on the same spawn table. But guaranteed, you'll see more broodlings if you take out the goblins - just because they don't get their butts whooped. Even if the outriders are green, take them out ... I just sent my pet after them, threw in a couple of punches, and scouted around for broodlings letting my pet finish the job.

One thing I did notice was that just about every Sarnak Broodling was heading towards the north (or NW, or NE) from the statue ... I was generally hunting by making laps around the statue. I figured the spawn area was SE from the statue, but wasn't certain. Neve saw one 'spawn'.
    LOCS
    # Feb 02 2002 at 2:41 PM Rating: Decent
I dont know how to locate locs. could it be explained to me plz plz plz plz!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    RE: LOCS
    # Feb 03 2002 at 5:24 PM Rating: Default
To find out your "loc" type /loc ... short for /location . You'll get 3 numbers. the first one is your coordinates running north/south. The second is your coordinate running east/west. The 3rd number is your altitude, which is usually ignored by people. Hope that helps =)
    RE: LOCS
    # Apr 10 2002 at 1:48 PM Rating: Default
correction, the second numbers is not east/west. it is west/east. :)
    RE: LOCS
    # Mar 21 2002 at 10:24 PM Rating: Default
You might also want to make a hot button. Mine's called, funnily enough, "loc". Just set the button with /loc and hit it over and over and over and watch the numbers to zero in on the loc you wish to get to.

I'm tryin to get the claw right now, and I cant seem to find the broodlings. Whereabouts in Ill omen do they spawn? I took my druid out just to run around tracking, but no luck. Its driving me nuts :/
Your not stupid, it's just not super easy
    # Jan 30 2002 at 9:23 AM Rating: Decent
Did the claw portion last night, the broodlings spawn near the locs mentioned above. If you have a eqatlas map it's near number 3 (undead ruins).

They are a semi-rare spawn, might be linked with gobs or bandits. With my wife, a monk, we started after just dinging 7 hunting around that loc. We sat on a hill just south of the ruins where you can see really far. Pulled everything we could see but pulled Broodlings first and formost. Got the spears in an hour, the fangs after about 3.5hrs, we left the area a good ways into lvl 8.

At one poine there where no broodling spawns at all for almost an hour, so that's why I think their spawn is shared with another mob type. An old buddy ranger friend did confirm at one point for me that there were no other ones on tract, he was standing at the "mouth" of the valley that goes up to cab (roughly #4 on the map). He could pick up us and two Troopers so I'd say he had the tract range on that whole area.
RE: Your not stupid, it's just not super easy
    # Feb 01 2002 at 10:32 PM Rating: Default
The Sarnak Broodlings and the Goblin Hunters will fight each other and the goblins usually win because they are generally higher in level.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 06 2002 at 11:39 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The other classes in Cabilis get quests that go on till the character is about level 50 or so. But the beastlords finish off at level 20 , that is if you ever find the shields.
