This quest is offered by Aderyn Goldleaf in Sanctus Seru. He may be found if you enter the large building around -100, -600, head up the stairs to the third floors to -134, -642, 122, then click on the X sign to get teleported. Go up and open the first door on the right.

You say, 'Hail, Aderyn Goldleaf'

Aderyn Goldleaf says 'Greetings _____. I am a Ranger of Seru. There are not many that follow our ways within the city, as there is only limited need for us. Tracking is an invaluable tool at times though so our ways continue to be passed on. There is no way that [Katta] Castellium can match our tracking skills. What are you look... ah, I see you are eyeing my quiver. It is the Jeweled Quiver of the Hand. It is given to each ranger that is in the Hand's Ranks.

You say, 'Katta Castellum?'

Aderyn Goldleaf says 'Katta Castellium is a dreary place. To show how vile it is, they have vampyres living within the city! My point though, is that they would easily spot one of us entering their city. You are just right. They would not question one from Norrath. If you with to prove your worth and earn your own Quiver go to Katta. Galren Fuzzytoes is know to us to be a spy, but we can never catch him. Surely it will be easier to find him within his own city. Defeat him, and retrieve any report that he is taking back to their Governors.

Galren can be found in Katta at loc -89, -531, -266. He hits for a max of 80 and does not cast. Spawn time is 1 hour exactly from his last death.

Killing Galren causes these faction adjustments:

Validus Custodus got worse.
Magus Conlegium got worse.
Nathyn Illuminious got better.
Coterie of the Eternal Night got better.
Seru got better.
Hand of Seru got better.
Eye of Seru got better.
Hand Legionnaries got better.

Loot the Confidential Report from his corpse and give it to Aderyn.

Aderyn Goldleaf says 'You actually did it? You have done an invaluable service ridding us of that wretched little halfing. You deserve to be a soldier in Seru's army. Take this Quiver with my regard Tarthamon.

Turning in the report causes these faction adjustments:

Eye of Seru got better.
Hand of Seru got worse.
Heart of Seru got worse.
Seru got better.
Haven Smugglers got worse.
Validus Custodus got worse.
Magus Conlegium got worse.

You receive the Jeweled Quiver of the Hand.

When at that location above, you very likely see "a Vigilum Cohortis". You need to click on the tapestry/wall behind him, to get ported.

Took me a few to find out...

I have to say that this is the easiest quest I've seen with a worthwhile reward. Every ranger should have this quiver if they don't have a better one. If you are a druid, help some of the rangers in your guild complete this quest. This quest probably takes 10 minutes if a druid is porting you and more like 40 minutes if you have to walk everywhere.

Allakhazam shows this is a level 48 quest, but at 40-42 this guy is easy to solo. I'm sure a group of 35's could take him. The only real danger here is the guards. Make sure they don't see you attacking him. Also, if Fuzzytoes isn't in his room, he is probably in the courtyard and will return to his room shortly.
good little quest

Did this last night with a 49 ranger with all bazaar gear. By far the hardest part was getting around on the moon. I had to drag a guildie out of the bathtub to get from Twilight Sea to DSP (was gonna try the run thru FG but the guild didn't like that idea much...) I would have liked to stay and trash my Sanctus Seru faction for a while, cause it really seemed like such a nice town, but I didn't want to be stuck with a 4 zone run.

They really need a more thorough means of getting around, now that they've taken away most of the incentive for druids and wizards to drive their taxis around looking for people. But I guess that's for a different forum...

Posts on this quest are good. I was in Katta making a foraging machette when I ran into Galren Fuzzytoes.... he conned dark blue (37 ranger) so I looked around for Twibleok who was standing at his post. So I went for it... rooted Galren and started feeding him arrows (little damage) then some other guard (red con) came by. I ended up running all the way around the ring to the Twilight Sea zone (maybe there is a better way out)at 28% health (only 37 ranger buffs on me). Medded up and went back in, to my surprise Galren was at the twilight zone out. Decided to try him again. Root resisted and he started to eat me, I was at 40% in seconds so I zoned again. Was getting annoyed with this halfling at this point. Logged on my 57 chanter and wasted 30 minutes getting a port to Twilight. By the time I got there Galren was still at the Twilight zone in. Chanter KOS in Katta (which I did not know) so dropping him involved more crowd control than it should have --darn entry guards) but he died like he should. Gated chanter before other mezzes dropped. Logged ranger and looted note. Finding Aderyn Goldleaf in Sanctus Seru is another story....

Legionnaire Twibleok's rounds take him about 10 minutes. When he passes Galren's quarters, heading west, he will be back in about 3 minutes, heading east, about 7.

At 52, Galren was light blue to me and the wandering guard was dark blue. I hadn't ever been to Katta Castellum or Sanctus Seru before this, and began indifferent to Katta. After killing Galren, I was dubious to all the guards. When I got to SS, I was indifferent to everyone I conned.

I was still using a standard 4-slot 20% Quiver, so I decided to get this. I ran to Katta and tracked down Galren in the "pit" area, down the long ramp. He was just coming out of a building, heading toward the tunnel. I was going to pull him back behind the building that's straight out from the tunnel, but I didn't have the right spells memmed or my buffs up, so I let him go. He wandered down the tunnel to his room.

I let the guard that was following us walk off a ways. By the time I got buffed and ready to kill Galren, I must've waited a bit too long. The guard walked back through and came to Galren's aid when I had him down to about 30%. I didn't know if I could tank both of them, plus I didn't want the extra faction hit. I led them out into the hall and rooted the guard. A few more hits and Galren turned his back to me (snared). I finished him off, got the report, and ran out of the zone as fast as I could.

When I found Galren he was in a bar with a fair few mobs (vendors / guards etc) surrounding him, I didnt want to aggro the whole place and lose even more faction, but Harmony of Nature works in Katta (counts as an outdoor zone), so I harmonied the surrounding mobs and killed him where stood.
can this be MQ'd?

Hmmm... is the report the halfling drops no-drop? I would love to give this to a ranger friend as a surprise... :)

There's no info on the beastiary page.

Thanks!

This quiver makes a very noticeable difference in the archery department. Unfortunately, as a paladin, it only teases me since I will never realize its full potential as long as our archery skill remains cripple-capped at 75.

With a 33 delay bow, I fire off what seems to be an arrow a second. Many rangers have asked me what the hell I was using.

On my baby treehugger, Trueshot bow and all, this quiver does make quite an impact. I haven't parsed logs or anything, but you can literally witness the difference.

I also got this for my rogue. Again, the speed was very noticeable even with a crappy bow.

In the world of EQ, this is one of those items that are just too good/easy to be true. I really hope Verant does not read this message and decides to change it. If you are a good-alligned race, and can use a bow, there is no excuse not to do this quest (unless of course you have better).

This was a quick quest and fun to accomplish. The mob and Quest giver info in the previous postings are accurate.

I was able to solo Galren as a 52 Warrior, but you DO need to take a minute or so and scope out the wandering guards. Once the guard passed and was half way down the hall, I attacked Galren. His max damage to me was never more than 58 points and he took me down by about a bubble of health (so about 500-530 damage max from him). Slamming worked well; he barely got out of the room before I delivered the killing blow.

The turn in was easy, Aderyn Goldleaf was Dubious to me, but accepted the turn in and I received the quiver (remained dubious afterwards as well). NOTE: I was Indifferent to the Katta guards before killing Galren, but afterwards was Apprehensive, so there is a significant faction hit on the Katta side of the quest.

I just finished this small quest and received The Jeweled Quiver of the Hand. I am a 41st level ranger. A few points of interest to those planning on questing for this-

1. I did not do this quest in order. I first went and killed Garlen in Katta Castellum, then went back and did the initial hailing of Aderyn. It worked just fine and I got the quiver.

2. The main problem I faced was agroing the guards that were near him. First time I saw him he was in his room in the hallway. I attacked him there with no guard in sight. With him having just 1 bubble left, the guards arrived and I fled, camped and relogged in to evade their agro. 2nd time (a few minutes later) he was in the bank/tavern courtyard way up on one of the walls just standing there (having prusued me from our last encounter). I asked a 60th level wizard in zone to pull him away from guards to behind the bank. There I fought him. With 1 bubble to go, he turned tail and started walking toward his room (toward guards). I cast root on him and he resisted and promptly the guards came at me. I fled, camped and relogged. Last time, the wizard again pulled him to local behind bank where I rooted him and attacked. He broke root 3 or 4 times before fight was over, but he stayed in that same area, thus not bringing guards down on me. I grabbed the envelope he dropped and high-tailed it out of there.

Have not shot my Light velium Bow with quiver equipted yet, but I am hoping to see a dramatic difference.

In all, the quest is quite easy and I completed it in 20-30 minutes.

Harmony reduces those guards aggro to 1, making it very easy for ranger to do, if not ranger get one, or druid of course)

Anyone parsed the haste on this yet? All quivers give haste, just wondering if it's better than Fleeting Quiver (most likely not, sounds easy)

Why would your faction with Hand of Seru get better for killing Galren and get worse for turning in the confidential report? Hmmm.
RE: Question
# Aug 07 2002 at 5:41 PM Rating: Decent
Well the Spy is an enemy of the whole city od seru, but once you start dealing with a particular member of one of the factions, the other faction inside the city get jealous... ind of like if you killed a terrorist right now, the US military would like you, but if you the gave his secrets to the army, the Air Force and the Navy would think less of you because you didn't bring it to them in stead.

I get the feeling that residents of Katta yearn for the simple politics of the X Files and JFK assasination theories.

The only hard part is finding where everyone is.

You don't have to talk to Aderyn first, of course. Just kill Galren, get the letter, and go back to Aderyn.

1) As you come into Katta from Twilight Sea, turn left and follow the path. Soon you'll get to a narrow corridor with many turns and many little rooms off of them. When you get to the big room that looks like it has a little town inside it, turn left and keep following the path. After a few turns, you should find Galren in a small room on the right. Galren's approximate location is -90, -530. He conned light blue to me at 51, hit for a maximum of 80, did not cast any spells.

2) Rooting helps, because when I did it, a guard saw me and attacked. I had Galren rooted already, then as the guard attacked I went out in the hallway, rooted the guard, went back in and finished off Galren, looted, then camped out to clear agro from the guard, and came back in.

3) In Sanctus Seru, if you go straight out from the zone entrance hallway, you'll pass a circular pond with a statue in the middle. Beyond that you'll see a large square building ahead, and a large square building on each side. Go to the one on your left (using sense heading, it's the northeast building). Go straight ahead through the doors until you get to the staircase. Go up all of the stairs, and at the top floor there will be a hallway with a teleport block at the end of it. Click on it, and look for Aderyn Goldleaf in one of the side rooms in the hallway. His approximate location is -132, -794. Hand in the letter you looted from Galren, and you have your new Jeweled Quiver of the Hand.

Was going to log last night in tavern in Katta and as I sat down he walked int he door. Thinking that if i killed him inside the tavern teh other patrons would agro I pulled him outside. Not a good thing to do lol the guards all over agro so ran to zone. Came back and killed him inside the tavern. The patrons do not agro and the guards do not come in. Serious faction hit. Was light blue to 52.

He will also go to the tavern next to the bank. I cast Harmony on that end and took him in place, so I don't know if the other patrons wuld have helped him or not.

The faction hit is serious. I went from indifferent to apprehensive just for killing him. I would guess that the final turn in has taken me down to dubious.

I did this solo at 47 and ended with 3 bubs of health.
