This quest begins with Tobala Honeyjar in Katta Castellum. She is located at /loc 50, -350, 2 (outside the large manor in the zone's northwest).

You say, 'Hail, Tobala Honeyjar'

Tobala Honeyjar says 'Hello! I am Governess Tobala Honeyjar of Katta Castellum. Overseeing the maintenance of the [Nocturnal Gardens] is just one of my duties as the governess of agriculture and ecology.'

You say, 'What Nocturnal Gardens?'

Tobala Honeyjar says 'These are the Nocturnal Gardens in which we now stand. It is a collection of flora from various regions of the dark side of Luclin. It is a shame that we are not capable of supplying the nutrients necessary to maintain flora from the light side of Luclin. If you wish to assist in the maintenance of the garden I have some [tasks] you may be helpful in completing.'

You say, 'What tasks?'

Tobala Honeyjar says 'I am in need of ingredients to create more [fertilizer] and in need of a competent forager to gather some [rare plants] for me.'

The quest for fertilizer is listed separately.

You say, 'What rare plants?'

Tobala Honeyjar says 'I am seeking seeds and plants that I may extract the seeds from that are native to the light side of Luclin so that I am prepared should the Illuminarium Industria succeed in constructing a lantern that will provide the plants with the nutrients they need to survive here on the dark side. It would be a tremendous help if you could bring me a Twilight Orchid, Dawnflower Seeds, a Red Sands Cactus, and a Letalis Zenith Vine.'

The items you require are all foraged and can be found in the following zones:

Dawnflower Seeds: Dawnshroud Peaks, Umbral Plains
Twilight Orchid: Akheva Ruins, Maiden's Eye, Twilight Sea, Umbral Plains, Vex Thal
Letalis Zenith Vine: Mons Letalis
Red Sands Cactus: Scarlet Desert

Hand those four items to Tobala.

Tobala Honeyjar says 'Oh thank you so much! You have saved me much time and trouble! Now if only those tinkerers in the Illuminarium Industria could figure out how to get that artificial light working!'

I humbly implore you to alter the listed Goal Type away from "Faction," as listed, to that of "Loot."
While there are much quicker ways to adjust the affected factions, this quest is the only source for

THIS PHAT LEWT! WOO HOO! GO MACHETTES! WHACKA WHACKA! FORAGES ROCK! WOO HOO!

Thank you kindly!

Foraging appears to be luck of the draw. Aside from chance to succeed, forage skill doesn't seem to affect rates of the rare items. I've foraged these with racial 50 forage but even at +200 forage and Nature's Bounty 2 they can take time. My guess is the variety of items in the forage tables on Luclin means you either get lucky or spend forever until you get your rare plants.
If you're a druid, jump to dawnshroud for the seeds, run through Netherbian Lair - Marus Seru - Mons Letalis for the vine then jump to twilight, run to scarlet for the cactus, zone back to get the orchid last (twilight orchids don't stack), succor to the Katta entrance, once inside succor to the top and run to Tobala outside the castle.

Just an update and personal experience. This did take me about an hour to an hour and a half at a 208 forage (well 207, it went up a point during.) I watched an mma fight at one pt and dropped by vt to check on a mob so can subtract that from my estimate. The vine took the longest.

Task is NOT broken......

When you hail Tobala Honeyjar you will get the dialog but no tasks will show in Quest Journal window. Go ahead and forage the 4 items listed and return to Tobala and hand her the 4 items. You will receive the Foraging Machette.

Side note: There is NO WAY this task takes only 1 hour. I spent a total of 6+ hours foraging to get these items. I got one of everthing but the Red Sands Cactus which I got 2.

I took my lvl 41 wiz along to port me around the world to speed things up. While I foraged, she hunted and gained 2 lvls. So I killed 2 birds with one stone!

This quest pre-dates the task system, hence no task window ( alt+q ).

As a side note - I have in the past also finished this one in under 1 hour (in my case I just took along 4 foragers).
Not too bad

Took me about an hour per item. Worked on learning languages in the zones over my head, and swimming and XPing in the zones that weren't. I'm now the proud owner of my very own Foraging Machette!

If you're not familiar with the zone, Tobala Honeyjar is a bit hard to find. Just head to the very top and use your map, and you'll do OK.

Getting to the top isnt as easy as it sounds. This is my first time in this zone and the map is hard to navigate besides it being yellow lines.

Now to find some stairs or ramps. rofl

Yup, smak the programmer. An hour to do, no way. Got the AA forage for two items. Very rare that I can't forage what I seek inside of ten minutes. In over a half hour of foraging for that dang vine in Mons, I've got the other crap, not the vine. I guess soe's eq is rocket science afterall.

This was much easier than I thought. At lvl 28 (Druid) with a foraging skill of 120, I managed to get all the rare plants. The longest was in Dawnshroud; I spent a little over an hour there. Then popped on lev and camo and slipped into Umbral. First item I got was Twilight Orchid :) Ported to Twilight Sea, ran to Scarlet Desert, and AGAIN, first item I foraged was the one I needed. Off to Mons Letalis via The Grey and spent a little time there, and VOILA...all done:) At least I am going to get some use out of that machete before my skill is too high.

[Wed Oct 26 21:36:36 2005] Tobala Honeyjar regards you indifferently -- what would you like your tombstone to say?

After running around frightened and foraging with my 9 Druid I found Tobala, walked through the prompts, handed her the four pieces and...she handed them back to me saying "I have no need for this, you can have it back." Did she run outta machetes, or is it bugged. Or am I?

Out of curiosity, I did this quest again today to see if it was broken. With indifferent faction, I received the machette.

Incidentally, faction hits as of May 30, 2005 are:
Concilium Universus: Better
Seru: Worse
Heart of Seru: Worse

In that order.

I don't know if the quest is made easier lately but I got all ingredients from all zones in ten minutes after zoning in (foraging skill 97 when I started for first machette and 125 ATM).

Dawnflower Seeds seem to be common in Dawnshroud Peaks now so I stack them and give to my alts to feed them.
First Lethalis zenith vine I got at 6th foraging attempt, second vine I got another time at third foraging attempts.
Cactus: Zoned in, hided myself and started to forage. This took me 10 attempts before I got first cactus. Decided to try more and after 4 or 5 attempts got second one.
Twilight orchid: Got it at 2nd or 3rd attempt.

Now I have Foraging machette and have just to find another Twilight orchid for second machette.

I don't know if she can be charmed or not - but I do know that quest turn-ins to a charmed mob don't give faction adjustments, only items. So, in other words, it won't work - sorry.

Okay, I found her my first time in KC.

IF you enter from Tenebrous you should find her pretty easily. Just go straight after zoning in and go till you find the entrance to your right to the Walled portion with Trees in it. She is on the right.

If you enter from TS you have to go the long way around. Make your way to the bank first. following the walkway and then the tunnels till you lead out into an open area... where the bank is. Then there should be some stairs that lead to a very scary cliff walkway... Take that to the upper level and then go west to the large building with all the plants in front of it.. The druid is out front to the right...

One quick note.. the succor point for katta is right by TM zoneline... so I always zone in from TS, then succor me (and my group). Makes getting to the top part where the turn in mobs are (ie. bane warding shield, rallic pack, or this machette).

I got the vine in about half an hour at Mons just sitting at the zone line. Have a 193 skill in foraging. The Dawnflower Seeds were actually harder, and it's ironic because I'm always foraging those in DSP, except the one night I need them for a quest.

The other two I got in around 25ish forages, taking maybe half an hour there, too.
