Start by giving your Guild Summons to your guildmaster. You will receive an Application for Citizenship. For example:

Master Taruun Rakutah says, 'Good ________, I am pleased to see you. You have come of age and it is time for you to register for citizenship. Your invitation indicates that the Taruun, hunters and providers of Shar Vahl, have noticed you and consider your potential to be worthy of our training. First, take this application to Registrar Bindarah and return to me with proof of citizenship.'

Master Taruun Rakutah says, 'I know that you may be nervous right now... after all, this should be a very exciting first step for you. If you happen to get lost while looking for the registrar, just ask one of the other citizens or guards for directions. They will most likely know where to find the place or person that you are looking for.'

    You gain experience!

Find Registrar Bindarah near the south gate and bridge at -390, +140. Give her the Application for Citizenship.

Registrar Bindarah says 'Young ______, I will be happy to process your registration for you. While I etch your name on our people's book of records I will require you to run a couple of errands. Take this certificate to the tax collector and obtain his seal. While you're out doing that, have Mignah create your personal Acrylia slate for you. Bring both the seal and the slate to me as soon as you can.'

    You gain experience!!

You receive a Certificate of Taxability in exchange. Find Tax Collector Khugra in the bank at -290, -455, -187 and give him the certificate.

Tax Collector Khugra places his seal on the certificate before returning it to you. 'Ahh, a new taxpayer, wonderful! You must always remember that it is a distinct privilege to contribute to the upkeep of our noble society and not merely a duty or a burden. I look forward to collecting your honorable taxes in the future. May the spirits prosper you, ______.'

You receive a Stamped Certificate of Taxability. Now find Mignah Cahru in the tavern near the north gate at +485, -285.

You say, 'What about an acrylia slate?'

Mignah Cahru pulls a smoldering piece of forged acrylia from a nearby oven and, before you can react, presses your hand into the still soft metal. 'This may hurt a bit, but it'll heal.' He then etches your name and the date into the slate and plunges it into a bucket of water before placing it into your stinging palm.

You receive an Acrylia Slate. Head back to Registrar Bindarah and give her the stamped certificate and acrylia slate.

Registrar Bindarah says 'This item, by itself, means nothing to me.'

Registrar Bindarah says 'Ahh, there you are. I was about to send someone looking for you. Everything seems to be in order here, only one task remains. You must gain audience with the king and swear fealty to his highness by handing him this document. Return to me when this is done.'

She will keep the acrylia slate for now, but you will get it back later. You receive a Note to King Raja, which reads:

Oh great king, I hereby voluntarily pledge my life to serving the realm and preserving the noble Vah Shir. I am henceforth yours to command.

Take it to King Raja Kerrath in the throne room of the palace, at 0, +565, -160.

King Raja Kerrath says 'Your humility and willingness to serve shall not be wasted. There is much to be done, ______, and our people thank you in advance for your selfless service.'

You receive a Note from King Raja, which reads:

I, your beloved king, find the bearer of this note to be worthy of citizenship of Shar Vahl. May he serve the noble Vah Shir well.

Return to Registrar Bindarah and give her the letter.

Registrar Bindarah says 'Well done, ______, I am honored to be the first to welcome you to citizenship of Shar Vahl! May you serve our society as well as it serves you. Return to your guildmaster and present both the slate and the application to him. The acrylia slate shall henceforth serve as proof of your citizenship.'

Registrar Bindarah says 'Oh, by the way, be careful with this as it will be important for recording your service to our society. If you should somehow lose it, ask me about your slate and I will issue you a new one.'

Your faction standing with Citizens of Shar Vahl got better. +400
    You gain experience!!

You receive an Acrylia Slate of Shar Vahl, along with a Notarized Application. NOTE: This slate is your unique identification for subsequent Vah Shir quests, so don't destroy it. Bring the application back to your guildmaster. Here's the dialogue for the Beastlord guildmaster:

Elder Animist Sahdi says 'Allow me to be the first to welcome you to the Khati Sha, lords of the beasts. Accept this cloak, young initiate. It is a symbol of your loyalty to our noble people. May it serve you as you serve us all. Present your acrylia slate to Animist Poren and he will give you instruction. May the spirits of the beasts guide you and keep you safe.'

You receive the Initiate's Cloak of Shar Vahl.

    Forged Fastener?

Ok maybe Im just dense :) but where do you get the forged fastener from? Do you make it or do you get it from someone?

    help =)

    # Dec 15 2001 at 10:46 PM Rating: Decent
For the forged fastener go to the building to the right of the archway as you are coming from the palace. There will be an NPC named Kagazz, give him your slate and he will tell you that his wife is making a scorpion leg necklace and he gives you a box to collect the legs in. He promises the fasteners if you get the legs. After you get the legs combine them in the box he gives you and give it back to Kagazz. You don't have to worry about losing your slate.

Yep this would make an excellent practice weapon even to higher ups - more swings, quicker to gain levels in 2hs (or at least thats my understanding of it). At 30 I've neglected all but 1hs so now I'm trying to grab as many other types as I can before I get any higher :-)

I do not believe tailoring has anything to do with tailoring. I finally completed my claws with 82 tailoring and they were not trivial. I think it is just luck. What I did was I did the random 100 thing and when I was high roll I hit combine and I was successful. People have done it with 10 tailoring and failed with 82 so I believe it just to be luck.
    Molars for beastlord quest
    # Dec 14 2001 at 6:37 PM Rating: Default
I'm trying to get the molars off sonic wolf cubs in Hollowshade Moor now, and I've run into some trouble.

One, actual cubs seem to be very rare, I found two all day, and neither dropped anything cub like at all.

Two, while its possible that there are other sonic wolf types in the zone that drop what I need, I don't know whether they are or not.

I have a sonic wolf fang, a giant wolf fang, a sonic wolf jawbone, and I think something else tooth oriented, all drop off either sonic wolfling or sonic wolf.. the cubs dropped a pelt and a pair of paws.

ALso for the warrior quest, I have seen those paws and something no drop called sonic wolf pup claws. Oddly thats stackable paws off the cubs, and non stackable cub paws of the wolfs. Anyone know what the warriors really need?

The molars can drop off any of the sonic wolves. I got 1 off a cub and 1 off a wolf.
    RE: Molars for beastlord quest
    # Dec 14 2001 at 9:14 PM Rating: Decent
Having gotten a total of 8 sonic pups in about 7 hours and having only 1 molar drop, I was ready to give up hunting wolves. Then I got attacked by a sonic wolfling and BAM it dropped a molar. YAY!
Now im on the next quest and it requires components that can ONLY be made by other kitty classes. BAH!!

I suppose if you've already converted items into better versions you could always try making the base items all over again. Even if things are Lore/NoDrop once converted they're no longer the sami item. It might be your only route right now.

Any clue how to get my initiate cloak back?

I tried giving my plate back to the guild master, but he said that item by itself does nothing, and I lost my plate (which I'm pretty sure I can get back)

However, I'd like my cloak so I can continue with the other quests.

    Any suggestions?

    Pottery portion of Shamans quest
    # Dec 12 2001 at 9:55 AM Rating: Decent
Part of the Shamans Vah Shir Citizenship quest
is to run a task for Merchant Ayyad.

"Spiritist Fehril says Citizens often need assistance and the Dar Khura must be available whenever possible. Merchant Ayyad has requested someone to run an errand and I am sending you. Return to me with Ayyad's seal, the hide treatment, your buckler, and your initiate's cloak."

When u talk to him this is what he says.

"Merchant Ayyad says 'Some of my wares are spoiling and I must place them in a container to preserve them. I cannot afford to take the loss that would result if they were to rot. Please Hunl, take this bowl and combine two lumps of gray mud with a flask of water and xakra bile. Take the resulting clay and this sketch with another water flask to fashion an unfired gray jar. Fire it in a kiln with a firing sheet and return to me with the product as soon as you can."

After makeing this item and returning it to him

"Merchant Ayyad says 'Excellent! Please accept this knapsack as payment for your trouble. Here is my seal as well. I can always use more jars and if you give me four of my seals I will share with you a family secret."

This seal u need to give back to Spiritist Fehril with the hide treatment, your buckler, and your initiate's cloak. I went back and finished 4 more pots and turned in the 4 seals.

"Merchant Ayyad says 'Excellent, Hunl few of our kind show a true interest in the more refined arts of pottery these days. It is very good to see the young people taking interest in the old arts. Here is a Basic Runequill Set. Take the instruments in the set and practice marking runes on the gray jars that you previously brought to me. To etch the runes, simply cover a gray jar with some Xakra bile and use the Runequill Set to etch the runes on to the jar. When those jars become trivial come back and give me those basic tools and we'll see about upgrading them."

I could not get these items to combine in Potters wheel or in the kiln so i took a chance and gave the tools back to him. At this point i have a pottery skill around 35

Merchant Ayyad says 'You're progressing nicely, Hunl take this sculpting tool and add it to the set you already have. The best place to organize your quills is probably at the pottery wheel since that's where you'll be using them. This new quill set will be able to make some very nice urns that should help ease the burden of moving all that heavy clay around. Take a gray jar and use the new set of tools I've given you to etch Xakra blood into runes on the side of the jars. These should prove to be very useful in your labors in the future. Once you have mastered those runes, bring back your runequill set to me for another addition."

Not sure where to get the blood so i took another chance and fave this kit back to him

"Merchant Ayyad says 'You continue to amaze me with your progress, Hunl. Here is the final pen to add to your set of runequills. I have just received word that the king has need of your particular talents. Take this note to Guard Fareed and he will instruct you further. Also, this runequill set is able to mark a set of runes on the Grey Jars with Sonic Wolf Blood. This will enchant the jar and make a great container. I trust your artistic instincts to guide you."

At tis point i dont want to go any futher until i can find out where to combine these items. Any help would be great.

Quest Info Update - After Sonic Wolf Molars:
    # Dec 12 2001 at 6:56 AM Rating: Decent
After you turn in the 2 molars to the guy in the library he tells you to seek out another NPC and buy the tombs he sells. After reading them you are proably left as confused as I was. After working with another kitty on this quest for a bit we have located a number of the components needed.

First you will note that there are 3 diffrent sects each has there own part to do we are speculating that we actually have to work with the rogue class to get the poison aspect done.

For the beastlord our task is listed under the Khati Sha section (spelling?) We need to collect a number of items to complete this part. All of the items are in Hollowshade moor.
You also need to get 2 Stretching dowls from an NPC in town he tells you to bring him 2 Owl Bear Cawls (I have not confirmed this but the other beastlord got the dialogue from him) also note these are not the small owl bear paws he tried them and it dident work.

The other items in the moor are as follows:
    -Beastlord Items-
Kelp Salts -Found on the tortis's
Sonic Wolf Tendons - They are found on the sonic wolves it has been my experiance that these items are more common on the ones wandering around NOT the ones in the cave infact i never saw any on the many from the cave the 2 I got were from the wanders the same goes for the owl bears
    Owl Bear Tendons
Fish oil soaked rags - Found on grimling fisherman

    -Other sect items-
    Tortise Saliva -on the Tortise's
Sonic Wolf Blood - This was called for twice in the books
Yugi Root - This is found on the ground near the sonnic wolf cave under some of the trees etc
    Sonic Wolf Brains
a poison dart from grunt of dart shaman - I am assumeing this is from a grimling of some kind
Porous ore - I found this on the ground not to far from the owl bear cave
There are a few others but that should cover a lot of the stuff ill update when I get the chance

Just take note a lot of stuff is in that zone so when u get something off a mob be wise and hang onto it ;)

    Lost Cloaks
    # Dec 12 2001 at 3:03 AM Rating: Excellent

For those of you who, like me, lost their Initiate cloak never fear. I regained mine by doing the following:

    1) Go back to Mingah and get a new Acrylia slate
Just target her and say What acrylia slate?

    2) Take the new slate back to the Registrar
    Bindarah.

    3) take the letter Bindarah gives you to the
    king.

    4) return the kings letter to the Registrar
    Bindarah.

    5) take the slate and the application Registrar
Bindarah gives you back to your guild master.

    6) Voila a new cloak:)
    RE: Lost Cloaks
    # Dec 12 2001 at 11:08 AM Rating: Decent
I tried the steps above with no luck. I can get a clean slate from Mignah, as well as a new slate from Bindarah.

I've given these to the tax Collector, the king, the guild master, back to Mignah and Bindarah with no luck.

I petitioned a GM who said it was doable, but refused to tell me how (I don't think he knew)

Any suggestions besides starting a new toon?

    this is bullshit
    # Dec 11 2001 at 8:30 PM Rating: Default
I lost my cloak of the recruit (or whatever it is) and tried to get another one. I lost my slate while trying to get another cloak because the NPC ate the damn thing. All you get from Mignah is acrylia slate NOT acrylia slate of sharval. Verant was kind enough to make all the items in the citizenship quest no drop and did not offer any recourse for players who somehow lose items along the way. Thank you verant for releasing such a screwed up quest. All I can do is continue the character in the hopes that they will fix this problem or I can start over again and lose the HOURS I spent getting to level 10 and getting to the third quest.

Why do they do this crap? How hard would it be to make it so when you ask the registrar for your slate you get the RIGHT one back? How hard would it be to install an option that would allow you to get all of your current items (up to the quest you ar on now) back by handing the slate to your guildmaster or by just ASKING?!? I am furious right now that such a hole was left in what appears to be a quest with great potential.

I feel the pain... there was a bug with the quest. If completed before 12/08/01 you did not recieve faction increase for Citizens of Shar Vahl. Without that faction you are only warmly to Registrar after completeing quest. You must be ally to get a replacement slate from the Registrar. The only solution I found was to petition and ask for a newbie "guildmaster note" then redo the quest to get the faction. This may help other with the cloak also. BTW To test if you are a victim of the quest before it was fixed just con the Registrar. If she cons warmly and you have completed the quest you are bugged and will not be able to get a replcement slate if you lose yours. GM intervention is only solution at that point.

I ran through the whole quest.. and when i came back to the trainer gave him ONLY my letter.. then my friend gave HIS acrylia slate and TA DA!!! he got a new cloak.. sooo if you need a cloak.. get a buddy to make a temporary toon.

ALSO the shammy quest is mixed in a regular brew barrel.. then the product which you make "sweet water" is combinded in the barrel that the Animist gave you..

Easiest way to get your claws, is to get your tailoring skill up....either kill stuff to get the tailoring supplies and practice, or go to your trainer and dump 20 points into tailoring.
If you go kill to get tailoring supplies, go to the thicket, much easier there.

If you got the sewing kit (aka stiching pack) and the handwrap pattern, I suggest heading to Shadeweaver's Thicket to do the rest of the quest.
Here is what you need to make the handwraps:
    3 shadeling bandages (2 shadeling silks = 1 shadeling thread, 2 shadeling threads = 1 bandage)
and Handwrap pattern and combine in sewing kit.

I had a tailoring skill of about 5 and I got lucky and made my handwraps on first attempt.

My suggestion to anyone doing this (and the quests following) is to kill the silkworms in the thicket, and if they aren't around then kill the needle hoppers good exp for you (From level 1 to about 4). Make tattered armor from damaged hopper hide and pattern. Get your tailoring skill up fast and you won't spend a whole lot of time recollecting items you're gonna need for the next few quests.

BTW the second set of claws you get are a fairly decent set of weapons.

Good luck to all of you!

when you succeed at making the handwraps, you get the handwraps and some scraps, turn in the scraps as evidence that you were successful, to the person that gave you the sewing kit.

I'm on the second vah shir shaman quest, the one where you combine 1 scorpion blood, 1 of the worm bile, and 1 flask of water, you do this twice, then take the product and combine in the thing the guy that starts the quest in shaman guild gives you. Only problem is, you have to use a specific brew barrel to do the first part, but it won't let me use it. Do i have to get the bartender to do it for me or what? If anybody can help plz do.

This quest seems to be a bit buggy, but it all works out OK. Here is what happened to me...

I managed to make the two sweetwaters at a skill of 28 (2 out of 3 tries). Combine the two sweetwaters in the Cask that Fehril gives you, it turns into a cask of sweetwater.

At this point, I returned to Fehril and presented him with my cask and cloak. He goes through a bit, returning to you a hopperhide treatment (says it needs to ferment for a while longer)..but NO CLOAK. Fehril then tells you that Merchant Ayyad needs help and, when you are done, return to Fehril with Ayyad's seal, your cloak (?), your buckler and the hopperhide treatment. At this point, I petitioned and waited. While I did, I figured I would do the next part involving Merchant Ayyad.

Merchant Ayyad is outside the palace, by the merchant that sells the gold wedding ring. When you hail him, he says he is too busy and will only talk to a citizen. If you say you are a citizen, he then tells you to show him your plate and he will discuss his problem with you. (in other words, I got IDed. :) ) Give him the plate, he returns it to you with a bowl and a reusable sketch. He directs you to find two pieces of gray mud (drops from rhinobeetles in the pit), a xalra bile and a flask of water to form gray clay, which is then combined on a pottery wheel with a flask of water to make an unfired gray jar, which is then combined with a firing sheet in a kiln to make a Gray Jar. This is returned to Ayyad, in which he gives you a pack and his seal.

By this time, the GM had responded to my petition and after trying what I did himself, he told me the quest ia working properly and he was sorry he couldn't reimburse me. After a moment, I figured what did I have to lose, and turned in the seal, buckler and treatment to Fehril. To my surprise, I got the exp message and tone, a spell (Frost Rift), my buckler back (and upgraded) and my Cloak of the Dar Khura Apprentice (Initiate cloak upgrade)!!! And the obligatory zone-wide announcement.

So, the quest instructions are a bit buggy (and have been reported), but it does work...eventually. The next step is to assist Fharra Cawfeet with a medical issue...

    Hope this helps!

I'm having a devil of a time getting the bile and blood to combine, and produce anything. Keeps saying I lack the skills. I have my brewing up to nearly 30 now, and will try again when the servers come up. Does anyone know what this quest yields?

Oh, I'm able to combine in any one of 4 brew barrels in the back of the bar that the quest guy sends ya to. I don't recall now, but its, like, 2 buildings down the row from the bank? Its on the palace square, anyway. In the back room.
