Heartwood Master (Druid Guildmaster) may be found at -635, +220, +77 in Kelethin. He's on Find (Ctrl+F). You'll need Amiable faction with Soldiers of Tunare to obtain this quest.

    You say, 'Hail, Heartwood Master'

Heartwood Master says, 'Greetings, child of Tunare. As druids of the Mother of All, we may only use blunt weapons and the scimitar, all other blades are forbidden. Prove your devotion by bringing me a rusty short sword, a rusty long sword, a rusty broad sword, and a rusty bastard sword. I will destroy them and reward your faith.'

Rusty swords often drop off low level undeads. A good place would be for example the undead camp in South Karana, just southwest of the bridge to North Karana.

    Hand in one of each.

Heartwood Master says 'Tunare be praised! Do you have the rest I requested?'
Heartwood Master says 'Tunare be praised! Do you have the rest I requested?'
Heartwood Master says 'Tunare be praised! Do you have the rest I requested?'
Heartwood Master says 'You have done well, child! Take these as a blessing from Tunare for doing her will.'

Your faction standing with Soldiers of Tunare has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with King Tearis Thex has been adjusted by 1.

This quest appears to require Amiably faction with Soldiers of Tunare. At indifferent Soldiers of Tunare faction, Heartwood Master wouldn't accept rusted weapons from me and was conning indifferent. Once I had raised my faction to amiably, he was conning amiably and accepted the rusty weapons.

Additional notes: Did not respond to "What weapon?", "What weapons?", "weapon", or any variation I could think of. The only rewards this quest gave me after many turn ins were Worn Great Staff and Tarnished Scimitar.

There is no response for the what (weapon) quotes. Also, some of the quotes have been removed from the current quest.

    ie.
[Tue May 03 21:10:04 2016] Heartwood Master says 'Greetings, child of Tunare. As druids of the Mother of All, we may only use blunt weapons and the scimitar, all other blades are forbidden. Prove your devotion by bringing me a rusty short sword, a rusty long sword, a rusty broad sword, and a rusty ******* sword. I will destroy them and reward your faith.'

The weapons are a common drop from orc camps, and can also be purchased by vendors in East Freeport, Neriak Foreign Quarter, and Mountains of Rathe.

    Hand in one of each.

[Tue May 03 21:21:24 2016] Heartwood Master says 'Tunare be praised! Do you have the rest I requested?'

    Reward: Worn Great Staff

Note: I had a hard time getting a Rusty ******* Sword to drop from skeletons in Greater Faydark, so I headed over to Everfrosts Peaks right at the Plane of Knowledge book and got a couple in minutes, along with plenty of wolf and bear pelts. FYI

I did this quest as a level 4 Ranger. When I turned in the 4 weapons, he gave back the short, long and broad sword. He said he had no use for them. It still got the faction, 6 gp and a Worn Great Staff though... Now, if only ******* swords were easier to find, I could do the quest over and over...

This quest makes no sense at all. It says bladed weapons are forbidden by Tunare, yet Tunare rangers and paladins can use and druids can use scimitars. Hell, all of their epics are blade weapons!! Somebody boobed when they made this quest, or else the NPC giving the quest is lying and taking in the rusty weapons for his own sinister purposes. :0)

This quest is from classic, it predates the epic. And onyl Druids are barred from using most bladed weapons. The Scimitar is considered to be a sacred blade. That's why this quest normaly (at least back when Kunark was the only expansion, haven't done it since) gives you a Tarnished Scimitar.

I'm a gnome cleric (lvl 5) and I can't do many of the quests in kelethin. Most of them wont even speak to me yet and I've already killed a dozen orcs or so. Sigh. Nobody likes us gnomes... I don't know why... we're so cute.

did you even Hail the heart wood master before you gave him that weapon? You have to give him 4 diffrent weapons. Rusty broad sword, Rusty short sword , long sword. 2hander. THEN will he give you a random weapon and couple gold. Also works with Orcs hatchets.

Although trading in the weapons may not be worth it, if you're a newbie druid the scimitar is the only 1HS weapon you're allowed so you could either get one from this quest or camp skellies.
    NOT for all

Just last night I gave him a Rusty Long Sword. I received nothing in return. My faction should have been ok because Ive gone from 5th level to 10 level at orc lift. My character is a High Elf Wizard and "Heartwood Master" said something about not dealing with people like me.
    RE: NOT for all
    # Apr 04 2002 at 1:26 AM Rating: Decent
you have to give him all 4 swords at once EXACTLY LIKE HE TELLS YOU TO!
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 12 2002 at 12:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) That's because Druids are high on something and don't like to deal with High Elves. Even those of Tunare. =P

The best place to be is at the gate to Kaladim. There is more than enough decaying skeletons running around, and if you are still looking for that ONE weapon ya need, go shopping at the merchant buildings to the left of the gate. The rusty weapons you may need is always there, since every player seems to sell them there instead of in the city.

    # Jun 04 2001 at 9:51 AM Rating: Decent
as a lower level druid i just saved the right four swords off orcs and skeletons etc. and got my scimitar to keep my slashing skill up! yeah it's probably not worth the money but now i get cheap "free" 1HS practice instead of buying one. plus extra faction can never hurt!
    Why do the quest?
    # Jun 02 2001 at 5:23 PM Rating: Default
    One word. Faction.

Newbies will have tones of these things around and you can buy them almost anyware. Give them to the druid guild master and get faction. It may not be the most efficient way, but it can't hurt.
    Pricing Differences...
    # Feb 18 2001 at 10:43 PM Rating: Decent
You sell rusty weapons for about 2gp to a couple silver, so how much do you sell tarnished weapons for?
    RE: Pricing Differences...
    # Sep 08 2001 at 10:47 AM Rating: Decent
Usually tarnished weapons sell for a little more than the rusty ones do.
