You say, 'Hail, Drenic Garrison' Drenic Garrison says 'Greetings! I am Drenic Garrison, Governor of Science here in Katta Castellum. I am currently involved in several scientific endeavors with the other governors and am in need of assistance supplying my researchers with the proper [materials and samples] for their studies.' You say, 'What materials and samples?' Drenic Garrison says 'The Magus Conlegium are assisting with some studies on the physiology of the Vampyres of the Coterie of the Eternal Night and are in need of [ash and blood] samples. Maralicis Dilsm our Governor of Health is assisting in research on [counteragents] to the venom and diseases native to Luclin. Finally, there have been reports from the agents of Erikal Wolfeye that there is a civilization of [snake people] that live on the furthest reaches of the light side of Luclin in a region devoid of atmosphere.' You say, 'What snake people?' Drenic Garrison says 'To the west beyond the Twilight Sea is an airless grey region between the light and dark sides of Luclin. Some time ago our scouts cooperating with powerful members of the Magus Conlegium attempted to chart the expanses of the barren treacherous region. During this excursion the scouts and magi encountered a small group of strange snake like men. The magi detected no magical aid that was allowing the creatures to move freely in the airless void without danger of suffocation. When approached the snake men quickly fled. We wish to know how these creatures survive in such conditions. If they prove to be a hostile species then we will have to resort to examining their [anatomy].' You say, 'What anatomy?' Drenic Garrison says 'I wish to examine the lungs or whatever breathing organs these creature have. It would not be prudent to hunt and kill a living member of this species and society we know practically nothing about but there are several undead snake men in the region as well. I will require three such organs however to perform the proper experiments.' Shissar Organs are dropped by various shissar in Echo Caverns and The Grey. Bring back three for your reward. I am not sure if stalkers are undead and if not it may be what is ruining peoples faction....the quest clearly states do not kill living snakemen but the undead (revenants) and they do drop the organs and they do work for the quest.

I fought with a lvl 6o necro today and he was practically soloing them:)
My advice, get a 60 necro to help you out they are awesome at this. He got organs for everyone plus loads rotted on the ground!

From what i've seen about 1 out of 8-10 Shissar Stalkers drops the organs. Not too bad of a quest. However, seems to me 55+ is a little harsh, I am a level 56 Druid and I solo these stalkers easily, so I don't see why a group of Lvl 50s can't do this. That is, if you stick to stalkers and leave the other higher level mobs, such as the Shissar Revenants, and probably the quick Shimmering Fiends as well.
I am going to try this tonight.
Have a druid cast Harmony on Drenic. From MAX trade distance open trade window and have Druid reinvis. Finish hand in and hit trade. Might be a good idea to Con him right before hitting trade.
The theory is since Harmony drops aggro radius to 0 you can stand close enought to start the trade. Then you can reinvis and complete the trade.

I just finished this quest solo as a 54 Cleric. You don't have to go to the Grey to do this quest. Here is the step by step information, mostly for Clerics but maybe adaptable to other classes as well.
Spells I needed were: Immobilize (root), Epitaph of Life (DOT) and Reckoning (DD). I think you can go down on the DD spell but I think Epitaph of Life is essential since the mob you want is undead and it's the fastest way to kill him without breaking Immobilize with DD.
Start out at Shadow Haven zone. There are two ways to get to Echo Caverns from Shadow Haven. You need to take the one through the South. If you are standing at the mini spires at zone in from Nexus, go directly south through the Dwarf guards. Go up the ramp, through the tight opening in the rocks, then down the stairs, through the caves to Echo Caverns.
Once in Echo Caverns, just go straight. Pass a passage on the left, pass a passage on the right and come to a split. Make a right at the split. Up to this point, nothing should aggro you if you stay on the right (you will see 3 Underbulks on the left but they don't aggro). If you go up after making the right, there is a open cavern with a bunch of light blue mobs. The mob you want is at the other end of the cavern, named Taskmaster Torkazh.
He is located at about -500, 1300. The mobs in this cavern aggro so the trick is that if they are spaced far apart, you can make a run between them. Worst case one will aggro and should be easy to kill him with root, nuke, repeat. If you want to be safe, just drink an invis potion and you should be fine right to the camp site.
Once you get to the other side, there is a small tunnel and a steps up to another small cavern area and you should be able to see Taskmaster Torkazh and about 8 skellies. The camp spot is right at the edge of the top shelf of the cavern area. If you sit down below of the cavern level, you can not see your mob and cast spell. Make sure you are at the same level as the mob, he won't aggro on you at this point. Sit youself down to make sure you are full mana at this point and buff up. You should have three buffs at this time: Shield of Words, Hero and Armor of the Faithful.
Then target the Taskmaster, Immobilize, Epitaph of Life and sit down to med. The trick is that Immobilize breaks a lot so everytime Epitaph of Life runs out, cast Immobilize again then refresh Epitaph. I was able to kill him with about 4 Epitaphs and then used Reckoning to finish him off. Of course Immobilize is never reliable. He broke it a few times. He hits for double and max of about 100 so it's not that bad. When he breaks Immobilize, just cast it again until it sticks and just back away. You can back in to the cavern and the skellies won't aggro you so you can run between the middle of the cavern to end of the small tunnel without aggroing anything.
There is a faction hit to one faction but I don't really remember which faction that was. He dropped a Shissar Reverent Skull every time. In addition, he dropped an Orb of Echo Ore (common and lore, usually sold to a vendor for about 8-10pp or gave to newbie, range slot item), a Phosphorescent Fiber (rare and lore, a whip that you can see he's using when battling), Polished Serpent Scale (rare and stackable, no idea what they are for) and finally Shissar Snake Organ (ultra rare). I have heard that the drop rate for the organ is one drop every 15-20 kills. I got one on my third kill and my 19th and 20th kills. So I guess I was lucky and got 3 drops in 20 kills (over 4 different times of camping). His respawn time is almost exactly 30 mins so you can sit down and med in between. It is a boring camp. I was able to kill a couple of skellies (light blue to me) between the spawn (no faction hit on skellies) so not all was lost. Not a bad xp.

The benefit to Taushar's method is that you are soloing with minimal risk (minimal risk for The Grey is just don't go there). You get some not bad xp, but very very slow, and the area is rarely if ever camped that I've seen. And thanks for actually giving very good details to your alternate method.
However, the downside is that on a 30minute timer with only 20 kills you are looking at 10 hours of camping. If you were the unlucky one that got the bad statistics, you could be looking at up to 30+ hours this way. All you need in the grey is a good 50+ group (not even a full one) and you can kill Shissar all day long for still not bad xp, and the drop rate on organs is around 1-in-5, best guesstimate. My group (56clr 59nec 57dru) had 3 organs each within a couple hours of xp hunting. Also, it is very easy to hold one wall of the temple in The Grey as long as your puller isn't overzealous.

Don't count on invis not dropping after turning in stuff. Several times I tried being invis while turning in things in Skyshrine, and once I clicked on the NPC my invis went off, BUT the invis icon was still in my buff bar! I knew I was no longer invis because considering the NPC resulted in dubious and not indifferent, as it's been before I initiated the trade window.

Has anyone that is KoS here tried to go in Wolf form?

Wolf form is KOS in Katta even if you're not KOS normally. My druid was getting ready to do some quad-kiting in TM one day by the Katta zoneline, and was buffing up. She put on wolf form and was immediately attacked by the previously friendly guards. After zoning out to Katta, I reverted to SOW for my kiting that day. No wolf form in Katta for me, please.
Bear form doesn't affect faction in Katta. They still are rude to me, regardless of whether I wear the guise of an ogre or a grizzly bear. :(

Does anyone actually know the faction of this NPC?
He isn't House of Midst as I did the pulsating rock quest until amiable in Shadowhaven and am still KOS to this guy.

Also if you are using the invis trick to hand-in it sometimes helps if you are at maximum aggro range.
You can test this by trying to trade a mob a cp from as far away as possible and then work to within trade range.

First off you can get thes organs from the shissar taskmaster in echo caverns i killed him three times in row and got the organs all three times guess i was lucky but i completed the quest in 2 hours. the task master is pretty easy im level fiftyfour cleric and soloed it np.

Organs off the Taskmaster are actually a very rare drop. I spent my entire 6 levels of alternate advancement there, and ended up with 4 organs. The quest can be multiquested, so I got my necklace and then helped a friend get his.

Really? How exactly would this be done? I am a KoS Iksar SK and I am unable to turn in the three organs to get my reward. I can easily reach the NPC in question, but how do I open a trade window while KoS? I am familiar with the "hide/invis during trade" trick and I have done it several times in the past, but never when KoS. I have never been able to open a trade window quickly enough to not have the mob aggro on me. I tried several times with this NPC and was never able to avoid being attacked. He aggros to quickly.
Has anyone that is KoS been able to complete this quest without the use of Sneak? If so, could you post EXACTLY how you were able to do it? I'm not sure that it's even possible. I am tired of not having an EB item.

I to tried this last night, and failed. With the lag being so horrible in all of the luclin zones, the furthest into the trade I got was placing 2 organs into the trade window before the Drenic Garrison started swinging at me.
My group tried spamming him with hails to keep him turned aroun, but that did not help.
We did not try having someone else open a trade window before me or just after me. Nor did we have someone with us who could charm. Just other thoughts on how to try to do this.
BTW, if you hand him the stuff while he is swinging at you, he simply takes them and you receive no reward.
Looks like I'll get my EB item the old fashioned way - go buy it in the EC tunnel.

If you have someone who isn't KOS turn in 2 first (yes, multiquest it), then you turn in the 3rd. You will aggro, but you will have what you need, and I am sure you can figure out some way to deal with the aggro.
I had my Friend open a window and put the organs in it. Then I opened a window and after the first item he started swinging. I managed to get all the organs in it but I got no reward. My friend who also handed in the organs got no reward. Just a message saying "Can't you see im busy right now? Come back later" So we both got screwed. I gated and my friend stayed and tried to get hie amulet. No luck.

You can do it just need a chanter (not positive but it worked in skyshrine with the helmet turn in). First you have the chanter mez, then the kos person opens trade window. Next the chanter invis the kos person and memblur the npc. complete the trade (and in skyshrine get the faction).

OK, I did this quest all in one day and here is what I found.
Your job is to find the "snake people" also known as Shissar and retrive 3 of their lungs which are labeled organs. The Shissar you want to kill are in the zone of The Grey as the the text says. The Grey is a no air zone so bring your EB items, fish scales, and a couple friends couldn't hurt either, though i did it solo.
With that said the organs drop off of Shissar Stalkers and Shissar Revenants. These seem to be a rare drop like 1 in 15 for me. The organs are NO DROP but can be multi quested. You turn these 3 organs into Drenic Garrison who is in Katta Castellum as the text above says. He is in what some call the cathedal(big building)and he is on the first floor on the right side. The loc is around 300, 30 both positive.
For not haveing enough faction... you need to be invised/camoed AFTER you open the trade screen(someone else needs to invise you)and before you click trade of course and this will make you indifferent. If you do it befor you hand in your items your camo will drop or not be effective. If you do it right, you can be kos and turn your items in this way(doesn't hurt to have a druid/ranger harmony him to lower agro distance), another technique is to have a chanter charm the quest giver to make his faction indifferent and if you can sneak that will work as well.
The end result is Amulet of the Grey Wastes 10 sta, 4 cr, 4 fr Effect: Enduring Breath which is permanent.

Evil races are KOS in katta, though that doesn't mean you can't get this item, just makes it harder for you to get...

In my experience, religion is more important than race in Katta. Darkelf rogues are dubious, while darkelf necromancers and shadowknights are not. I know you can raise some factions in Katta by killing Coterie, but necros (and others) may not wish to do that.

My question is, can an ogre get this? I've never been to the zone and don't know if i'm Kos or not, but assume I am. If I go with someone to invis me, go in invisible, trade the items and have them reinvis me during the trade-in....will I get it?
I don't want to put in hours of work on this only to find out that I have to spend 100 more hours changing faction to get it. Any hardcore evidence from an ogre/troll who's done it would be most appreciated.

I haven't done the quest, but my Ogre Agnostic Warrior was dubious in Katta (before I started messing with faction), not killed by anyone, but no quests given.

Shissar Revenants also occasionally drop a "Shissar Organ". Does anyone know whether the Revenants' organs are valid for this quest? If not, that could explain why it fails for some people. (Tranthas)

Verified this can be multiquested. I handed in one, other handed in 2 and it worked.
Why do verant put all these quest where Iskars can't go :(

Its Called ROLEPLAY. Strange concept for some, wonderous to others. :)

I never got an organ off the taskmaster, but i have 2 cracked revenant skulls. Any clues as to what they are for?

Can this quest be MQ'd? I have 2 organs and my friend has 1. Just wondered if I can have him turn his one in first and me turn my 2 in?
