This is the fourth Qeynos badge quest. You must do the other three first.

You say, 'Hail, Vegalys Keldrane'

Vegalys Keldrane says 'Greetings to you, citizen. By order of the Council of Qeynos I have been given the duty of apprehending the individuals [responsible] for unleashing this terrible plague upon the people and the lands of Antonius Bayle. The more I look into this matter, the more I come to find that this will be no easy task.

You say, 'i wish to advance further'

Vegalys Keldrane says 'Interested in helping us further? We continue to gather valuable information. We still require [interrogators] that are able to pry the information we require out those less then willing to talk. Also, Velarte Selire at the Temple of Life is looking for help with his [research] so you may wish to talk with him. Lastly, we now have information we believe may lead us to the [individual that unleashed this plague] in the first place.

You say, 'what individual that unleashed this plague'

Vegalys Keldrane says 'The plague was unleashed by a woman named Azibelle Spavin. She was the bodyguard and some say concubine of Mordavin Telase. He was put to death for his long list of crimes against Qeynos which included murder, treason and attempted genocide. The plague is apparently her revenge. I sent one of my investigators and one of the best guardsmen we have to try and find her and bring her to justice. They are [still missing].

You say, 'still missing'

Vegalys Keldrane says 'Kane recommended Guard Helminth personally as one of his best. They must have run into serious trouble. These were two of Qeynos' finest. I am only willing to send those with both strength and intelligence down there to complete this mission and find our people's whereabouts. Give me your Researcher's Badge should you wish to accept this mission.

Hand in your Research's Badge at this point.

Vegalys Keldrane says 'Here is my personal seal. Go to the sewers and locate my investigator and show him this seal if he yet lives. Find out what happened to he and guard Helminth. Then if at all possible, complete this operation by finding Azibelle Spavin and execute her. Bring me her head and return me my seal and you shall be rewarded.

You receive Seal of Vegalys.

Zone into Qeynos Aquaducts. an investigator was at +951,+30 laying upon the ground.

You say, 'Hail, an investigator'

an investigator coughs and struggles to move. 'There were. . . too many . . . too strong.'

Give the investigator the Seal of Vegalys.

an investigator says 'Vegalys sent you. I'm done for. Guard Helminth found a false wall. We stepped through it. We were ambushed. I didn't see where Helminth went. He disappeared. I knew we were overwhelmed. I ran and feigned death but I knew [it was too late].

You say, 'it was too late'

investigator gasps clutching a wound and says, 'Their magic was too powerful. Necromancers. Undead. Cursed knights of an unholy god. They left when they thought I was dead. But even now their curses sap the last of my life. I made it as far as I could. If Helminth lives, tell him [I am dead]. Please complete the mission. Bring this Azibelle to justice. Avenge me.'

Guard Helminth then spawns at +376,-49. This is just before the 4 spectres outside of the necromancer guild.

You say, 'Hail, Guard Helminth'

Guard Helminth says 'Who are you and what are you doing here? This place is not safe. You are to leave here immediately! You do not belong here!

You say, 'vegalys sent me'

I forgot to try the message from the investigator for Guard Helminth ("I am dead"). So I am not sure what response I would have received with that.

Guard Helminth says 'So Vegalys sent you to check on our progress then? I don't believe you. Prove it!

Give Guard Helminth Vegalys seal. You get the seal back and he responds with:

Guard Helminth says 'Well, well! Vegalys did send you after all. Are you [ready to complete the mission]? I am certain I know where Azibelle is hiding.

You say, 'I am ready to complete the mission'

At this point, Guard Helminth respawns as Corrupt Guard Helminth. Also directly behind him a necromancer spawned. Both agro. A few seconds later a rotting sentry spawned next to me. All three hit in the 70-80's range. Rotting sentry did harm touch me for 351 points of damage. These guys wern't too bad to take down with a 55th mage and 52nd druid. Corrupt Guard Helminth was blue at 52nd but the other two were green.

Once Corrupt Guard Helminth was killed, Azibelle Spavin was found on track.

Azibelle Spavin was found at +439,-264 which is just past the 4 spectres that are outside the necromancer guild. She did not respond to hails. Proceeded to attack her (did find that I could pull her past the spectres without the spectres agroing). She is a shadowknight and was blue to 55th and 52nd.

Loot the Head of Azibelle Spavin.

Return to Vegalys Keldrane and turn in Seal of Vegalys and Head of Azibelle Spavin.

Vegalys Keldrane says 'Good work Meistoff ! So Guard Helminth was corrupt? So crafty are these black hearted souls that they can fool even the righteous Kane Bayle himself! I'm sure he will be saddened to hear of this. I too am saddenned by the loss of one of my best investigators. At least we've served justice this day by sending Azibelle Spavin to her dark master. May she rot with her god. Take this Badge of Honor and wear it with pride and distinction.

The bugs are gone... for now. I did not get the ring back in the end, so its a one shot deal. The guard was not a bad fight at all but I did agro the spec's which made it take longer then expected.

group was a 54 ranger and 54 shaman (W/JB Bracer) and her pet.

Myself and two others completed this quest before these unfortunate bugs cropped up... But yes, I have received the bone handled scimitar before. Too bad it's no drop...

# Jun 10 2002 at 9:34 AM Rating: Default
Did the quest last night (Sunday June 9th) and it is still bugged as described. When the corrupt Guard Helmith spawned, we killed him and left the normal Helmith alone. There was no Azibelle so we did a second hand-in to Helmith and killed the corrupt version again. This time Azibelle spawned so we didn't need to kill the uncorrupt guard at all. The quest is doable but surely VI will take to down for repairs soon.

There is NO fifth part. The story ends with killing the mastermind of the whole plauge. At this time there is no plan to add a 5th part either. But who knows, verant's done nuttier things before.

with the opening of jagged pines there is now a 5th badge quest. This has been planned for some time as are others. In the spirit of inovation that these quests have always had you must have 115+ cooking skill to make 2 meals for a home sick guard, Kill a Gnoll leader and start a war.

Looking forward to more badges to come. Keep them coming!

Well I Just ran the 4th part for the first time and while the text would suggest the quest is over. He gave me back that useless seal. I'm wondering though Has anyone tried to just go back adn retrigger the quest with it? Maybe you can just shuffle your guild though the 4th part over and over and bypass the first three. I turned in the head, and got the badge, then he said I do not need this and returned my seal. Dunno. It's worth holding on to the ring just in case.

As of June 7th *few days after the latest server path that changed alot of creature names and quests*, I hailed Vegalys Keldrane and said "I wished to advance further". he gave his normal speech ((Vegalys Keldrane says 'Interested in helping us further? We continue to gather valuable information. We still require [interrogators] that are able to pry the information we require out those less then willing to talk....))
With some reluctance.. I also gave him my qeynos badge of honor just to see if it would instigate the 5th part. he gave it back saying "I have no need for this"
Maybe after the next patch, someone try and give it to him and see if the badge quest continues.. cause it REALLY IS a fun quest. =)

The 5th is out but it is not on the website yet. I may do the 5th soon, I just hate to hand in my 4th not knowing what to expect... I like the 4th one too much hehe. :)

The text message when you say "I wish to advance further" is still the same, hence, no additional text for a 5th quest.

I doubt it is ingame.

Also, when you receive the 4th badge, the quest text doesn't seem to indicate that there will be further steps.

I would love to be proved wrong though. =)

The interrogator's badge quest appears to be turned off right now. "!an interrogator" spawns instead (note the exclaimation point). I wouldn't expect a 5th quest to show until that quest is fixed.

Quest Completed
# Mar 20 2002 at 3:15 PM Rating: Decent
I successfully finished this quest with a 51 druid, a 51 paladin and a 47 paladin. All of the critters were very easy.

Don't forget that the Rotting Sentry spawns *behind* you as you initiate the quest with the guard, and the necromancer spawns in front of you.

Also, an easy way to pull Azibelle without gaining the spectres is to use a non-offensive spell to bring her out. My recommendation would be one of the cancel magic series, as she should have a buff or two on her. Did it three times and no extra baddies to help her out. :-)

Good luck!

This series is probably the most fun and not too hard quest I ever done. No camping and hope mobs will spawn, no rare drops that u need to kill them like 20times to do, and the reward is excellent! Great neck item and the permanent see invis really helps, especially to ppl who go invis and wait at your camp for a rare mob to spawn and then KS you hehe(stopped many campjumpers that way). I did this final part with 51 war, 51 cleric, 47 druid, 51 druid, 47 wizzy, and me the 51 ranger. it was kinda over kill but u can never be too prepared hehe. Also, it's best if u have someone in your grp that knows the aqueduct system well, as you can easily get lost in there. We just attacked the guard as soon as he went corrupt and all nuked him. He went down FAST! I barely got 2 hits in and he's dead. then we took out the necro and the pet easy. Azreille wasn't that hard if you are 50+ as u can single pull her and the pet without aggro to the spectres. We nuked her hard and hit her with everything we got. She was kinda tough but wasn't that bad. Then we ported out to SFG and ran back to NQ to complete this. Once again this is excellent quest, it's a great neck for all. Good Luck!

We took them out quite easily with a 47 bard, 51 Ranger, and 60 cleric, 55 SK. It was really overkill, could have done it with just the SK and the ranger and the bard.

Rooted the necro and pet (ranger) then pulled the guard down a bit out of ranger. Dispatched him, did the necro and his pet easily.

Ranger pulled the sepsis rats separately. We did them one at a time, then he pulled Azibelles pet, we dispatched him, and finally, all we had to deal with was Azibelle.

She went down pretty quickly. You just need a decent tank that can absorb the HT, or a cleric with celestial heal.

Atone is also a Very good idea for pulling the guard aways from the other mobs. :-)

It really was an easy quest, and the necklace has some good stats. Have a feeling with the plague in the karanas gone though, it won't be around much longer...

Heyas all...

I am a lvl 41 druid and a lvl 40 rogue. I have completed this quest 6 times now... 2x for my chars and 4x for guildy's and my wife.

The hardest part was laying the smack down on Azibelle.

We kept on getting killed when all the spectres pulled through. Usually the first time the Azibelle would pull solo with her pet. The second attempt right after would result in all the spectres pulling :( we died a few times.

Killing Azibelle is not for the light of heart. And although some have posted that you can do her solo I recomend getting some CLR and Warrior friends for this assualt. We usually had 2 or 3 50+ members with us.

If you are handing in the 3rd badge by more then one person I recommend after snare/debuff pulling Azibelle the first time that you clear all the spectres so they dont add when you try to kill her again.

hope this helps you all...

many thanks for my 2 badges goto: sirgal, ramblok, sunlily, plopnar, nadonius, windigo, meiamour, I think I missed a couple of ppl (mucho thanks to them :) ), and a lvl 50+ wiz that killed oobenoptenberry for me with his pet...I helped... um ya... hehe)

Did this last night
# Oct 23 2001 at 2:23 PM Rating: Decent
I was rather worried I'd lost my chance to do this quest after they cleared out the plague from the Karanas last week, but as of last night it was still working. (Don't know if they took it out in today's patch or not, hence staying up till 3am to get in under the wire just in case.)

Anyway, solo 51 Druid, no deaths (though I came close once due to my own stupidity). Did the snare/root/camp trick on Helminth so I wasn't in aggro range when the corrupt stuff spawned, then single pulled them by dancing around on the edge of aggro range and took them out one at a time.

Azibelle was a real [fluffy kitten] to kill, however one point to note: At 51, I was able to single-pull her past the spectres. (I'd cleared the specs earlier, but they respawned in the time it took me to clear out all the other quest spawns - I was playing it safe and medding to full between each.)

My stupid almost-death resulted from me accidentally dotting myself (duuuuh) and then Azibelle breaking root, and I wound up on the wrong side of her to re-root, and backed up too far, and the specs aggroed me because I was so close. Gated out with 72hp and heat blood on me, but fortunately chloroplast kept me alive till I could get off a heal. Woo.

When I went back, one of the spectres was slightly out of place, and just enough in the way that I couldn't target Azibelle to pull her. So I had to pull the spec (which brought Azibelle running too), gate again, go back, and that time the spec had stayed far enough out in the oval area that I was able to kill it without aggroing Azibelle. Then it was just a matter of root/dotting her to death. Took I think 3 or 4 rounds of drifting death and 1 or 2 of drones of doom (I have ES vams). Pet only took one root and DoD to drop.

Didn't get any of the other cool drops I'd heard mentioned (except the SK sword, which was useless to me), but I'm very happy with my badge. Almost 2 blue bubbles of exp too. I hope they leave this in in spite of the plague being cured, and hopefully put in another step; this is a very fun quest series.
Did this twice with 2 sucesses
# Oct 13 2001 at 3:03 PM Rating: Decent
Okay, hand in the ring into the dead guy on the floor, go seek Guard Helminth, do his bit, fade back alittle to keep everythign in front of you.. just kill em fast :)
Okay. now Azibelle is up, get full med,hp, and buffs, including cpk, and invis. The 4 spectres didn't agro on me while invis, run past the 2 rats, 4spectres, and Azibelle, go down the hallway halfway. Use Pumice stone or Nullify magic to get rid of her damage shield, absorbing shield. You can pull her single with her pet, no adds, Loot HEAD Re-invis and run back up the way you came down. that simple. did it with a rogue and chanter, no healer. Azibelle doesn't run when low on hitpoints which made the attempt a quite sucess.
Easier than it looks

I completed this portion of the quest as a 46 Paladin. Group to take out Corrupt Guard, SK, Necro, and Azibelle, was as follows:

46 Pal, 54 Dru, 47 Rog, and 52 Pal.
(I'm also proud to say that I had no spoiler to cheat from, hehe)

Anyway, after finding the investigator, my party and I went in search of Guard Helminth. Our druid had him pop up on track, and knowing what was near, IUed and went with the rogue to scout out the area. Pulled the Sepsis Rats seperately, easy kills. We had an inkling of where Azibelle would spawn, so we single pulled (harmony) the specs and layed waste to the easily.

At this point I initiated the sequence with Guard Helminth. Imagine my surprise when it turned out he was as corrupt as his friends! Spawning at the SAME time was the necro and knight. I happily took the 261 point HT, and proceeded to chew through Helminth. Thanks to the damage shield, the knight was already at 1/2 life when I turned to him. Easy kill. Necro was more a nuisance than a threat.

Here we moved forward, and, seeing Azibelle standing where the specs used to be, knew I'd made the right choice. As the questing lad, I went forward to take the HT and aggro from her. She didn't hit me for anything harder than about 60, but she does have a fair amount of HP for her level. Again, pet was a nuisance, not a factor. Along with her head she dropped a MAGIC NO DROP LORE SHD ONLY 1hs. It was decent, but definitely not worth doing this quest over, hehe. If there's any youngun SK's in the area though, escort them down for the treat.

As far as the exp for turning in the items, well, I was alone when I did it. At level 46 I earned a perfect 2 1/2 blues. I think I just may to this quest again. I've become to official guild expert on this quest, so if you have any questions or would like some assistance, you can gimme a yell on EMarr as Binuru or Pallybgone.

I have a Paladin. I've had very limited success with Soothe type spells untuil I got Pacify. This spell works quite well if you can pacify all mobs then "quickly" pull the one you want. If pacify does happen to fail tho it usually only pulls the mob you cast it on. This is my experince maybe others will vary. I plan to try this for this quest sometime in the next week.

As for useing "Cancel Magic" to pull you are asking for instant agro. I wouldn't suggest it for anyone. But then again maybe there are better forms of this that will work better.

I must say that this quest is getting better with each step, I am looking forward the next one.

Completed this portion last nite and received my Badge of Honor. I am a lvl 55 druid, my knowledge of the Qeynos Aquaducts was very very limited and i did die once completing this portion of the quest.

First thing I did was to print up a map of the Aquaducts. Then I did a little scouting about to locate where i would need to go to find the investigator and where guard helminth would spawn at. I found the investigator just inside of the Qeynos Newbie area entrance to the Aquaducts. He lays on the ground right where Vin Molter is walking around. Cool no prob. Now to see if i can find the area where guard helminth will spawn so I look at the map and hmmm looks like i can enter the Aquaducts from the cells under the arena so i follow the bones to get there and reenter the aquaducts. This is the WRONG way to go, but please remember I had really never been in the Aquaducts before. I had invissed myself with Improved Superior camo (which i love) and zoned in. There is an npc there so i de-cloaked and was immediately attacked, no prob typical snare root dot but was a faction hit with corrupt guards (you will get a number of these throughout the quest).

Re-invissed and moved on. Saw some spectres but they were pets to NPC's that were in the city(?) and did not see invis, in fact, I did not explore there but and pets and NPC' close to the gate did not see invis. So I kept going down the hall and walla i see some spectres and I know i am getting close. Unfortunately i got to close and even though they conned green to me they aggroed. So I paniced and ran for the zone.....right by the city(?), which i now know to be the guild. I aggroed the pets and their owners and did not make it to the zone...stupid death...but then at this level any death that occurs is due to not being familiar with where you are or due to overwhelming force.

Anyhow, I looted my body (no rez) and figured out that i was on the wrong side of the 4 spectres and went back to where the investigator was. This time i took a different route to get to the spectres which was to the west side of them, there is a somewhat large oval area before you see the spectres. This is the place you want to be, so now i knew the route to get there from the investigator (a little water, a couple of hallways, really took less than a minute to get there once i knew where i was suppose to be).

Gate back to Vegalys to start the quest and off i went. First, the investigator, then off to Guard Helminth.

One of the earlier posts gave the best instructions as to how to complete the quest from here and I followed them to a T. You will run into Guard Helminth in the hallway before you get to the oval area with the spectres. Do not spawn the corrupt guard helminth yet but snare him, pull him back down the hallway and around the corner, root him then camp to clear aggro.

The reason to do this is so when you do spawn the corrupt you are not next to him, when he spawns, and within the aggro range of him, the rotting sentry, and the necro which both spawn along with him. you will be down around the hallway away from where the corrupt spawns. the closest mob will be the rotting sentry so you kill it first. Interesting note, it drop an SK only no drop Ivory Handled sword 2hs 40 delay 17 damage effect: heat blood. Now you can look around the corner and snare, root, and dot the corrupted guard.

The necro and it's pet was next, normal necro killing technique. Interesting note: it dropped a Damask robe, and a Velvet lined robe, ac10 int4 some mana and i think a svfire resist.

Sat down and medded then headed for the oval, there are 2 sepsis rats which were an easy kill.

Still had one more mob to kill and that was Azibelle. Made sure i had a full medd and all resist buffs up and regrowth. Still almost died as when i was trying to target her to cast winged death she aggroed on me. Pet was tickling me but she was doing a job to me. Took me at least 7 or 8 tries to root her as she was interupting my casting but i was finally successful, but was down to 1 bub of health left. i pulled back, cast chloroblast a couple of times, moved back up to her and cast snare and 2 dots then moved back to kill the annoying pet. Then it was standard snare root dot and sit technique. She broke root about 5 or 6 times and i had to cast winged death on her 3 time plus a couple of small dots. I would say offhand she has around 4500 to 5000hps.

She died and i didnt so i gated back to Vegalys, turned in his seal and her head and WOO HOO i got the badge of honor!

Lvl 52 warrior (me), and a lvl 52 shaman had no trouble with this one. As soon as I gave the queue to trigger the corrupt guard, I moved quickly down the hall. Only the sentry aggoed. I suspect the more lag you have, the better this will work. Pulled corrupt guard solo, then finished the necro and pet. Pulled Azibelle with a bow. Spectres didn't agro. Corrupt guard, and Azibelle were blue. Necro and sentry were both green.

No new Quest as of Sept 28.. created a mule in Qeynos to check for me.. also just a thought but here is somethign i am gonna try soon.... the investigator is about a 5 min spawn.. and he forces the guard spawn imidiatly after you hand him your ring.. (he hands ring right back), and then imidiatly after handing the ring to the guard Azibella spawns... lvl 45 easy pull easy kill...... and good exp.. so couldnt you just force a nice lvl 45 with decent loot and stock up on those resist rings.... while gaining good exp... that is a five minute lvl 45 spawn with good loot...i know if i had one caster friend with me or a healer and tank ( i am 52 magi) we could take down specs single and just pull the necro) and hesmlith was a panzy but gave exp as did the rotting sentry.. so that is three blue mobs every 5 min ( to a lvl 52)... sounds like a nice place to camp if you ask me......
Pretty tough...

Ok, my experiences of this quest.

I was bored and in the Qeynos area, so I thought I'd do the quests since they seemed interesting. :)

The first 3 were pretty easy solo (52 wiz), and I was never in any real danger. The 4th one, well...

The first time I spawned Corrupted Helminth and pals, they all jumped me and I died before I could run away. I came back and they were all still up, so I pulled them one by one and they were pretty easy to kill (although the rotting sentry and the necro had pets up by then).

Then I took out the 2 rats, no problem. For some reason, I couldn't target Azibelle through the spectres, so I had to go right up close. The spectres aggro'd and I ran for the zone, but took a wrong turning into the lower aqueducts. Some guy called Phes Gestolk was lurking around the corner down there and proceeded to whack me for 300 a pop. Needless to say, I died rather quickly.

So, came back down, looted my corpse and medded back up. I managed to target Azi's pet, it dropped in one IC and Azibelle came out alone. I got Azi down to about half HP but was running low on mana so decided to root her while I medded. A few roots later, about half-way across the aqueducts, when root breaks she casts blood boil or similar, and then she's suddenly back at full HP! I ran for the zone, but Phes obviously hadn't forgiven me for getting my blood all over his gloves earlier and nailed up by Bait Masterson's spawn point.

Ho hum, I guess I should have bought some friends (or at least a cleric to rezz my dumb ***).

I think it probably is doable solo by a 50+ wiz, just a tad tricky. :)

I completed this quest the other day with the help of a 46 bard and 56 pally (nothing like overkill), and it was still not exactly easy.

Once we'd cleared everything but Azibelle, I single pulled her by nuking her pet (drops in 1 IC) and taking the HT on my skin spell. Before the pally could pull her off she got me down to 1 bub of health, and after she layed into him he got down to a bub as well and ended up having to use LoH.

One thing worth noting is that even if you ***** up earlier attempts at this part, you can still try again without re-doing the first quests, as all the NPCs give Vegalys' seal back to you. You can re-start the sequence by handing the seal to the injured investigator again.
This sucked

I did this quest as a ranger at level 46 with some friends....had a 60wiz 60cleric 52ranger and a 49wiz. Well it seems some people on my server arent the brightest....when we went down Azibelle was up 3 times...I guess someone had failed the quest after killing the guard and his buds so she spawned and killed em....then some other smart guy must have tried then died when he saw 2 azibelle's up....well needless to say the 60's thought they could single pull so we tried and they all 3 ht'd the cleric....the cleric went down fast...the 60 wiz gated....and the rest of us died....we tried a few other ways to pull em and died a few more times then were finaly able to single pull em by letting the 49 wiz die by casting root till they killed her then pulled the closest rooted one...cool thing was the cleric myself and the 49 wiz all got a head even though no one but me had even heard of the quest...they just heard the reward and jumped on the train...Just beware....if someone before you has failed she may already be up....i never even killed the guard or his buds hehe...Reward is awsome, way better then the orc fang necklace i was wearing...i hope that they go to 10 but i doubt they will the quest usually says to ask how to advance further and this one does not...
Looks like everyone likes this one. Hehehe

Looks like quite a few people have come to like this badge quest series.
I have now had part in taking two guilds through this quest and gotten some darn good xp, have nearly cleared lvl 46 thanks to it.
It is the Ivory handled sword that she drops, but I think the DoT is nerfed in some way cause it seems a lot more awful than the regular heat blood spells and procs. Out of about 15 times of killing Az while I was there personally she dropped the sword twice. And we managed to pick up about 12 of those resist rings from the rats.
The necro seems to drop the damask robe quite a bit as well.
