    You say, 'Hail, Jali Kaliio'

Jali Kaliio says 'Greetings outsider. I trust you have [peaceful intentions] while visiting our village?

You say, 'I have peaceful intentions.'

Jali Kaliio says 'That is good to hear. Those filthy kobolds have caused enough trouble. We do not need more enemies.' Jali turns around and glances at another Kejekan. This one seems somewhat ill. Her fur is coming out in patches and strange sores cover her body. 'That is my wife, Yuio. She has come down with a sickness, no doubt caused by those accursed kobolds.' Anger wracks Jali's face as he speaks. 'I would ask you for [help] but you are a stranger and owe us nothing. Of course if you did assist me, I would be forever grateful.'

You say, 'I would like to help.'

Jali Kaliio says 'Oh thank you. You are most kind. I fear that there is not much time left for my dear Yuio. Please speak to [Khonza Ayssla]. She is most wise and perhaps can find some cure for this affliction.

You say, 'Who is Khonza Ayssla?'

Jali Kaliio says 'Khonza Ayssla is the village's High Shaman. She teaches the ancient ways of Okanjo and is most wise. If she cannot assist you I do not know who can. I would go myself but I am too worried to leave my dear wife behind. When you find Khonza, tell her that Jali sent you. Please hurry, friend!

Khonza Ayssla is inside the southwest building. Tell her, 'Jali sent me.'

Khonza Ayssla says 'Ah yes Jali, whose wife is ill. I have been looking for a cure for many moons. I do believe I can make one now if I had the proper ingredients. Unfortunately it will require the deaths of some of our lands creatures but the spirits will not be angered as it is for a noble cause. Perhaps you could [fetch them] for me?

You say, 'I will fetch them for you.'

Khonza Ayssla says 'Take this satchel and please listen closely. I need the following and they need to be relatively fresh. So dont waste time with frivolous strolls through the jungle. I require two Panda Claws, two Tiger Skins, two Asp Poison Sacs, a Bamboo Shoot, and a Kejekan Palm Fruit, which you will need to find somewhere in the jungle. Once you have these items, combine them in the bag and return to me.'

    You receive a Burlap Satchel.

Panda Claws can be found from pandas in Stonebrunt.
Tiger Skins drop from Kejek Tigers.
The best place to get Asp Poison Sacks is in Oasis of Marr.
The fruit and bamboo are foraged in Stonebrunt. Make sure to put them in bags after your food and drink so you don't accidentally consume them.

Combine the 8 items inside the bag to get a Full Gathering Satchel. Bring it back to Khonza.

Khonza Ayssla says 'I thought the kobolds would have you for dinner, but you made it back.' Ayssla takes the satchel and begins to pour different vials of foul smelling liquid into it. She then takes the entire contents of the bag and dumps it into a large kettle and begins to chant in an unknown language. After a few minutes, she takes a small amount of the now boiling liquid and puts it in a vial. 'Take this vial back to Jali. I pray to the Titan Spirits that it works.'

You receive a Vial of Healing Liquid (MAGIC, LORE, NO TRADE, Tiny, weight 0.2) in return.

Giving this to Jali gets the following:

Jali Kaliio says ''Khonza Ayssla gave this to you? We must try it at once then.' Jali opens the vial and gently tilts back Yuio's head. He pours the liquid into her mouth and waits. Miraculously, Yuios fur begins to take on a healthy sheen and the sores begin to disappear! Yuio falls into Jali's arms then goes slack, passing out. 'She needs much rest. I cannot begin to thank you enough for helping us. Please accept this as a reward. It is not much but it should be of some use. You are indeed a friend of ours and if you ever need shelter from the wilds, please visit us again.'

    Panda Claws
    # Mar 27 2002 at 12:00 PM Rating: Good
I was camped here for several hours today and got all of the parts for the Wak except for the Panda Claws. I checked my logs and I killed around 30 pandas of different types and nothing....

Well not nothing. I got 4 gems off them, each worth around 40-50pp to merchants and 75pp or so to jewelers. Which, in total is worth way more than the Wak on my server (AB).

but I still want to finish the quest. Any idea why no claws are dropping?

My friend (32 Ranger) and I (24 Rogue) camped this quest last night in Stonebrunt, and I can now say that the Panda Claws are hard as hell to drop. We spent the upwards of seven hours last night and three hours today pulling Pandas and not ONE claw dropped. A kind BST gave us like 5 tiger skins and my friend has a stack each of the Bamboo Shoots and Kejekan Palm Fruit so all we need is these damn claws. Anyone looking to sell them for around 50-75PP on the Rathe send a tell to Freklik or Strikingwolf. Thanks

Here is my run down on the qeust, completed several times by my 35 Ranger:

Get the asp poison sacs first before heading to stonebrunt mtns! This will save you a return trip. Forget the asps in EC and North Ro. They didnt drop anything but snake venom sacs. Hunt the cistern asps in oasis. I got several asp venom sacs in no time. Get a bunch cause this sword is not lore and can be multi quested!

Foraging the Bamboo Shoot (looks like a root) and Kejekan Palm Fruit (looks like fruit or berries) was a breeze at my 135 Forage skill. They can be foraged anywhere in the zone.

Hunt only the Kejak tigers. The other tigers and tigeresses didnt drop any Tiger Skins for me at all. The Kejaks dropped them at least once out of 4 or 5 kills for me.

Hunt ONLY the Panda Cubs for the Panda Claws. The mature and elder pandas didnt drop any at all for me!

Hope this helps. Nice sword procs at level 20. Good for the low levels in your guild.
    RE: easy quest
    # Mar 05 2002 at 3:14 PM Rating: Decent
Sure is easy. The claws do seem to drop better of the elders though. We got 2 claws out of three elder kills as opposed to the 20 or so cubs I had to kill alone to get 2 claws.
Not everyone knows this is fixed yet. I saw a guy in the tunnel sell one for 500pp he said the quest no longer worked. I told him it did and he changed his price to OBO. The sword is good, but I deal much more damage in less time with a Centi SS and a LS. May just put them in the guild bank.

Is a fun quest none the less and I enjoy hunting in Stonebrunt now.
    RE: easy quest
    # Mar 18 2002 at 10:26 AM Rating: Default
Guys, Im harvesting these swords cause its a snap--let me give you my rundown...
First, I agree, get the Asp sacks first, I get mine in EC, simple--easy. Get yourself 8-10 (these swords are NOT lore, and they also bring 1Kpp), then go to SBM.
Claws have dropped off everything equally well for me--I just choose the bigger guys cause why not still get exp in the meantime? Pick the Pandas you can handle and stick with it--I believe it's random.
Forage all the time, but as for me--I save time by shouting to buy the fruits--and everyone always willing to sell. I pay 2pp each--set your price.
Tiger skins are the easiest. They drop off all Tigers and Tigresses--they are Orange--for those of you doing the quest for the 1st time, they are NOT pelts, they are ORANGE SKINS, youll know them when you see them. The Tigers spawn at the tops of the mountains, so I just sit and med at the top of a high peak and get far more than my fair share.
Bundly all your items up and then go to the city and do the quest in 1 minute walking between huts.
Oh...BTW, let me save you from a dumb mistake I made my first time...Make sure your FOOD and WATER are in a LOWER SLOT than the bag with your rare fruit in it--or you'll EAT IT! LOL

Final advice--Be careful, this zone is ADD HELL! Even with all my equipment and SOW and Levitate and Camo, I can find myself in a sticky spot, so don't ge cocky. Go in a group if you can, or take a hi lvl friend along, believe me, it helps. If you're a Ranger, make sure you have SOW and Camo up at all times, and have the coordinates of the zone--DON'T drag kills to the City--they wont help you.

Good luck all--it's fun, and these make a great prize for Guild events. Safe Hunting=)

    Are we being toyed with?
    # Mar 01 2002 at 4:37 PM Rating: Decent
I was informed by a druid friend the other day that the furit and bamboo are working properly now. (E.Marr server) However, no one can locate a panda anywhere.(Of course, right after I destroyed the entire bag out of frustration for lack of foraged items.) I've had some rangers help me track, they have told me there's none in range. Have the pandas been switched to a rare spawn? Or is verant toying with us by creating "hunting seasons" for us to retrieve the items. Both ideas are bleak...

All panda cubs seem to have disapeared... In the whole zone I can find about one level 30 young panda, one level 32 young panda, a mature and a elder... Since I have 130+ track and there's so few of us in the zone, that is probably the actual population.

Is it just me or has the panda population been greatly reduced ?

This is working on Druzzil Ro. I foraged both items (Palm Fruit and Bamboo) yesterday while healing up. And my forage is about 130. They were both foraged right outside the entrance to the Warrens. So there was no running all over the zone to find the stuff.

Once I read that the forages were back, I raced down to Stonebrunt to finally claim the WoFS that I had started at lvl 30. I got to SB, began to forage, and suddenly noticed that Jali Kaliio, who gives both the quest AND the Wakizashi, was MISSING. Yuio was there, but Jali was gone, meaning I couldn't do the turn-in. After petitioning a Guide, Jali was found wandering due north of the village near the Highlander Camps. When respawned by the Guide, Jali would immediately run due north again. It took a few Mem Blurs for the Guide to get him back in place, but eventually he stayed where he spawned, and I got my WoFS...

...and now I'll sell it because I got better stuff while waiting for the quest to be fixed...

P.S. - I think the forages WERE changed to ground spawns. When I foraged a Kejekan Palm Fruit and dropped it on the snow, it appeared as a LEAF (much like Morning Dew in GFay or Oak Bark in Butcherblock, which are both forages AND ground spawns and appear as leaves on the ground). However, when I dropped a normal forage on the ground (Fruit, Veggies, Pod of Water) they appeared as normal loot, i.e. the small bag. I think these things have been out there all the time and we just missed them...

It's finally fixed, and the forages aren't too rare at a skill 200 (although not quite as common as cabbages in the Karanas :) Definitely Bamboo Shots are the commoner of the two.

    Needs 200 skill?
    # Feb 02 2002 at 6:23 PM Rating: Decent
Some higher-level rangers on Fennin Ro have told me that the items are indeed forageable, only very rare, and they require a minimum 200 skill in Foraging. Of course, mine is still stuck at 190 (I'm getting an average of a skill-up a day), so I have no means to verify this.

I am one of those Rangers of which you speak. I spent weeks in Stonebrunt doing the swiftclaw sash quest over and over. Had a very lucky day. While waiting for those damned heretics to spawn, trained my Forage up to 200, finally. Prior to this I hadn't gotten either item needed for this quest. No sooner had I done it though than I started pulling up Kejekan Palm Fruits and Bamboo shoots. I couldn't stop getting them. When I mentioned very lucky day, right after I got 5 of each item, 2 heretics spawned simultaneously. Finally on attempt #lost track, got the sash. I can finally LEAVE this zone. The quest is fixed, but I don't understand why it's so hard to get the foraged items. BTW, I still have enough to complete the quest 3 more times. Anyone on Fennin Ro want to buy them?

This sounds a bit too extreme. The heretics you have to kill con blue to lvl 30, and the foraging skill we're talking about requires at least about lvl 40, right? And do all rangers have forage at cap? Don't think so! And it would make this quest pretty much ranger/druid only. I don't want to believe VI would go so low... I petitioned today and a guide replied me he had no idea if the quest is working or not, just told me to ask more "seasoned foragers"... Right. I said that I'm usually the only player on the zone and I don't know any foragers with skill over 200, and he replied I could try to send a bug report, but then he said maybe it isn't bugged... Go figure. Really helpful...

My Beastlord has a forage skill of 50, no more or less being an Iksar. I foraged these items after hunting for 4 days in Stonebrunt =P Foraging is a Totally random event I've gathered. The higher your skill is just means that you WILL pull up more stuff when hitting the key instead of "failing to find food nearby." Even a level 1 WE i have has foraged the NO DROP heartfruit thing in GFay for the Ranger/Dru Epic!!! Skill i don't think is the factor, it's patience thats the key.

Can't be bad luck. I can get everything else but these. The steamfront water, nuts, eggs, all the quest items. I spent over 10 hrs in there hit forage everytime it came up and never got a single item other than normal stuff. The only thing I could think of was maybe it is ground spawn so I memed cammo and ran all over the zone looking at the ground but found nothing. I know it is unbalanced for non-foragers but what do you think it is now if you REALLY can forage the items. Nobody will give up thier shoots or fruit for free anymore. If the GM says it not broke maybe there is another way now. I just don't know what it is.

Well I am holding my breath since Halda said it is indeed working on the test server. I have my level 21 ranger camped at the enterance of SB for months now. I just play my main character while my ranger waits, logging on every once in a while to check. so far no luck like everyone else. but the amount of time it took me to gather the items for this quest there is no way I will give up. I see the news of the item dropping on the tests server as a good sign. I was a little mad when the last big patch we had didn't fix this though. We should just wait it out and send any information about getting the foraged items here. Thanks

It's nerfed now I guess. This weapon is basically better than the SSoY and a lot easier to get even with all the running around you have to do. Guess VI didn't want a whole boatload of these being in the game to "unbalance" things. Maybe one day after a patch people will be able to forage these items again. I wouldn't hold my breath though...
    A thought....
    # Jan 24 2002 at 5:27 PM Rating: Decent
This was the origional zone for the Trivial loot code. And if I recall correctly, Verant modified the code, not removed it. Recalling from Halda's post, her skill was only 14 in foraging, so she was a lower level (correct me if you just weren't practicing.) Perhaps only a lower level character can forage these items now?

    Gonna compliciate things.....

Verant Removed the TLC ages ago in a patch. I think that this is just broken. Having only a lower level being able to forage this would be silly since they would not have a chance of killing the other mobs until the mid 20's in a group or 30+ solo.
Quest still good... if you can do it

The quest is still working. A small group of my friends and I spent 2 hours in Stoney last night getting the rest of the tiger skins and panda claws we needed. Several months ago I was in the zone and foraged a lot of the fruit and bamboo and kept 4 of each in the bank just for the hell of it (I'm glad I did now) so that I could go back and do this quest when I was high enough level to kill the pandas and tigers. After we finished gathering the items we needed I went up to the village and was able to complete the quest all 4 times. My warrior is now dual wielding the Waks and I am going to give the other 2 to guildies who want them.

So if you can find someone who has some of the foraged items stashed away or if VI ever puts them back into the game, the quest is still viable and can be completed.
