    You say, 'Hail, Jali Kaliio'

Jali Kaliio says 'Greetings outsider. I trust you have [peaceful intentions] while visiting our village?

You say, 'I have peaceful intentions.'

Jali Kaliio says 'That is good to hear. Those filthy kobolds have caused enough trouble. We do not need more enemies.' Jali turns around and glances at another Kejekan. This one seems somewhat ill. Her fur is coming out in patches and strange sores cover her body. 'That is my wife, Yuio. She has come down with a sickness, no doubt caused by those accursed kobolds.' Anger wracks Jali's face as he speaks. 'I would ask you for [help] but you are a stranger and owe us nothing. Of course if you did assist me, I would be forever grateful.'

You say, 'I would like to help.'

Jali Kaliio says 'Oh thank you. You are most kind. I fear that there is not much time left for my dear Yuio. Please speak to [Khonza Ayssla]. She is most wise and perhaps can find some cure for this affliction.

You say, 'Who is Khonza Ayssla?'

Jali Kaliio says 'Khonza Ayssla is the village's High Shaman. She teaches the ancient ways of Okanjo and is most wise. If she cannot assist you I do not know who can. I would go myself but I am too worried to leave my dear wife behind. When you find Khonza, tell her that Jali sent you. Please hurry, friend!

Khonza Ayssla is inside the southwest building. Tell her, 'Jali sent me.'

Khonza Ayssla says 'Ah yes Jali, whose wife is ill. I have been looking for a cure for many moons. I do believe I can make one now if I had the proper ingredients. Unfortunately it will require the deaths of some of our lands creatures but the spirits will not be angered as it is for a noble cause. Perhaps you could [fetch them] for me?

You say, 'I will fetch them for you.'

Khonza Ayssla says 'Take this satchel and please listen closely. I need the following and they need to be relatively fresh. So dont waste time with frivolous strolls through the jungle. I require two Panda Claws, two Tiger Skins, two Asp Poison Sacs, a Bamboo Shoot, and a Kejekan Palm Fruit, which you will need to find somewhere in the jungle. Once you have these items, combine them in the bag and return to me.'

    You receive a Burlap Satchel.

Panda Claws can be found from pandas in Stonebrunt.
Tiger Skins drop from Kejek Tigers.
The best place to get Asp Poison Sacks is in Oasis of Marr.
The fruit and bamboo are foraged in Stonebrunt. Make sure to put them in bags after your food and drink so you don't accidentally consume them.

Combine the 8 items inside the bag to get a Full Gathering Satchel. Bring it back to Khonza.

Khonza Ayssla says 'I thought the kobolds would have you for dinner, but you made it back.' Ayssla takes the satchel and begins to pour different vials of foul smelling liquid into it. She then takes the entire contents of the bag and dumps it into a large kettle and begins to chant in an unknown language. After a few minutes, she takes a small amount of the now boiling liquid and puts it in a vial. 'Take this vial back to Jali. I pray to the Titan Spirits that it works.'

You receive a Vial of Healing Liquid (MAGIC, LORE, NO TRADE, Tiny, weight 0.2) in return.

Giving this to Jali gets the following:

Jali Kaliio says ''Khonza Ayssla gave this to you? We must try it at once then.' Jali opens the vial and gently tilts back Yuio's head. He pours the liquid into her mouth and waits. Miraculously, Yuios fur begins to take on a healthy sheen and the sores begin to disappear! Yuio falls into Jali's arms then goes slack, passing out. 'She needs much rest. I cannot begin to thank you enough for helping us. Please accept this as a reward. It is not much but it should be of some use. You are indeed a friend of ours and if you ever need shelter from the wilds, please visit us again.'

The Kejekan Palm Fruit is a ground spawn, maybe near the waterfall in the snow area. Someone found one there (not me) it may be random because there was only one found there before I left.

With 200 foraging skill .. I have yet to forage any unique items. (items besides the veggies, fruit, berries, roots, and water)

I have sat in every portion of the zone for at least an hour each and nothing.

And my level 24 in the zone, wood elf rogue, who can forage gets nothing either ... but only 50 max skill.

Ok for this quest you need

    2 Tiger Skins .
These are easily obtained from any of the multitudes of Tigers that spawn in this zone (Infrequent drop)

    2 Panda Claws.
This is actually a weapon 1HS 7/30 MAGIC. It is a RARE drop from any of the Pandas that spawn here (cub, young, mature , elder). 6 Hours tracking and killing = ONE claw. Be advised these are MAGIC so trivial loot code applies ( No exp = no Claw)

There are HORDES of Druids tracking and killing Pandas of all types. Making them a truly Endangered species.

2 Asp Poison Sacs. I assume these drop from the Multitude of Snakes that spawn in the Jungle part of this zone. They are ALL Green at 36. I don't know if they are magic so I didn't want to waste time (doubt they are). Anyway repeated ooc's to the zone to buy these failed to get any response.

    Bamboo Shoot and Kejekan Fruit.
Another post said these can be foraged (which makes sense), but 6 hrs of Foraging in the Snow/Rock portion of this zone failed to yield either of these. ( Maybe they can only be Foraged in the '"Jungle" area?)

Anyway I am going to do this again tonight and will post any updated results as available.

Panda's eat bamboo shoots in real world. Could be rare drop off a Panda. Wait that would mean Verrant did something that made sense, couldn't be the answer.

Who's to say that? After all, they can make it so you can only bind in a specific section of a zone. Why would it be impossible to make three separate forage tables ? I'll wager it could probably work...

Foraging in different parts of the zone does nothing. No matter where you forage, you can always find the same thing.
    Where to find it.....
    # Aug 30 2001 at 11:14 AM Rating: Default
Ok, to put an end to this long topic....The zone is split up into sections (jungle, rocks, snow) i foraged two different kinds of bamboo. One is lore no drop, the other is regular bamboo. One was found on the rocks, the other in the "jungle" part of the zone. The Kejekan Fruit was forged both neer the city in the snow, and on the rocks. I only wish i had not destroyed them before i knew of the quest NOTE TO SELF: stop at the bank and empty some slots before you go to a new zone =)

I don't know if this is the same one needed in the quest, but i know i have personally bought bamboo shoots from a merchant in freeport i belive, it was a long time ago , before the warrens went live, so i don't know if a merchant sells them or if someone just sold them to the merchant, but it can't hurt to check.

There is an emerald palm root foraged in EJ, but no bamboo shoot (at least not menitoned at EQDruids or EQTraders). I have a forage skill of 150 and foraged maybe 120 items while exploring and all of the forages were the common ones (roots, fruit, water, berries.....)

My guess is that it is gonna be a ground spawn.

Seems kinda odd that verant would make you go to another freakin continent just to get something that this shaman needs "fresh".
Not to mention the level of character starting this quest would get squashed running around in emerald jungle by the roaming mobs there

Who knows though..we are talking about verant
    Fruit and Shoot again
    # Aug 30 2001 at 3:06 AM Rating: Good
Well, I tooled around there a while today with my retired Druid. I was foraging the whole time (maxed skill) and didn't see either in the couple of hours I was there. Ground spawns seems a likely source to me.

i also have a maxed forage skill and was in the zone for many hours forageing the whole time but nothing outa the ordinary i.e. fruit, grapes, rabbitmeat, vegies etc.
#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 30 2001 at 2:02 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OK, like everyone else, I was checking out this zone today and started this quest. Oddly, I gave the magic words to Khonza, the bag came up on cursor, I put it in an empty inv. slot...and ANOTHER BAG was on my cursor! Wanting to see if I could reproduce this effect, I foolishly destroyed the bags (which are 100% w.r. btw) but I could not make it happen again. One thought, there was another person giving the magic words at the same time as I was, so maybe that would work. Just wondering if anyone else had this happen, or if anyone else can reproduce the effect (and yes I do realize that the bag is lore, and I right clicked both the bags that I had gotten at the same time and they were both the same and were both lore, violating the "physics" of Norrath)
#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 30 2001 at 2:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I don't believe the bag is weight reduceable. Everything I put into it added wt to me...

Last night I was poking around the cat village with me wee lil paladin (26) after a successful night of kobold killing, anyway I eventually ended up with this bag. The bag was 8 slots, sizes up to medium, 0% weight reducing, but had a weight of only 1.0. In my book that makes this bag slightly more useful than a backpack, even if I never find a bamboo shoot or palm fruit(which I'm counting on being ground spawns).

    Foraged ...
    # Aug 30 2001 at 12:52 AM Rating: Default
Seems, if they are dependant on foraging ... the quest is focussed upon ranger/druid/races that can forage? And naturally, the reward for it, barring faction (which is nice to have) might relate to which actual classes can do the quest.

Or, we might be talking about ground spawns, or strange mob drops. An undigested thing like a bamboo shoot or any fruit would have to come from a humanoid sort, I imagine? Not like Pandas and whatnot have pockets, and using some animal byproduct seems kinda yucky.

Then again, I got a FS staff out of a caiman in Oasis ... maybe I am looking for logic where none exists :P

Third possibility is that this quest is focussed upon collaboration with other players, that you need someone to forage them for you. Hmmm, I rarely like this because it gives one skill a terrific advantage over another class, and if no one in the zone feels like helping you out, for whatever reason, you are screwed. At least with something like Track it facilitates something easier than you could do normally on your own, find the creature in question (stumbling around lost and looking stupid, perhaps :P). But you cannot do that with Forage.

    RE: Foraged ...
    # Aug 31 2001 at 2:49 PM Rating: Default
Well there is a bard quest that needs an item that is foraged. (Nostrolo's Tamborine) Yes i know bards have forage but it is capped at 55 and at level 43 i have foraged one item that wasn't food and i hit forage more than alot of rangers i know. So it doesn't have to be druid/ranger classes who can forage that the quest is meant for.

Nothing Verant does makes sense. I thought that anyone who has played past the noob stage would know that by now.
    RE: Foraged ...maybe not
    # Aug 30 2001 at 11:52 AM Rating: Default
what makes it a druid ranger quest?
if were not sure where to get the items than maybe you dont have to forage..
    RE: Foraged ...
    # Aug 30 2001 at 1:13 AM Rating: Good
    Maybe it's BOTH ground spawn/foraged.
    Foraged i think

i think that these items are foraged cause when i did a shout in the zone saying WTB Fruit & Shoot, i got 3 tells saying what you tired of foraging?...i guess ill take my druid here see what i can do if someone finds out for sure please post

"a Bamboo Shoot, and a Kejekan Palm Fruit, which you will need to find somewhere in the jungle. "

maybe try foraging there? possibly a ground spawn as well, it is rather difficult to see anything on the ground in the jungle area...

    just a thought
    Hmmmm, I dont get it!

As soon as anyone figures out the bamboo shoot and the fruit, can you please let us in on the secret, i have been in there for hours now looking around and trying to figure it out. Our banker doesnt work, some people have fallen for 10k damage in some areas of the zone and some track is not working, there seems to be a lot of problems. All I can think is that the fruit might be foraged and the bamboo is picked up from spawns in the forest like the cats says. I am frustrated with this one though.
    Thanks~

you can ask her about the bamboo shoot and you get some long story about the erudins and kobolds..not much info though about actual bamboo shoot though.

I got the tiger skins and claws..the claws drop off of mature pandas

I've gotten Panda Claws from a Panda Cub and also from a Young Panda, so I think it's a random drop from any Panda (perhaps drops more frequently from Mature ones?)
