Saemey Wirewhisker says 'Welcome to Kejek friend. I am the seer of this village for I have been gifted by the spirits with an affinity for their realm. The barrier between the spirit and physical realms is thin in these lands. The heretics know this and must be prevented from committing [atrocities] similar to those that have been committed in the past. You say, 'What sort of atrocities?' Saemey Wirewhisker says 'Long ago when our noble ancestors the Vah Shir were destroyed by an explosion that devastated the warring Heretic and Erudin armies an evil creature by the name of Tserrina Syl'Tor was attracted to the sudden abundance of new spirits in these lands. Tserrina was capable of capturing these spirits before they were able to cross over beyond the mortal realm and through her dark magic transformed them into a [crystalline shadow] substance. You say, 'What crystalline shadow substance?' Saemey Wirewhisker says 'The crystalline shadow substance was used as building blocks for Tserrina's tower on an Island near the frozen lands to the south as well as fashioned into armor and weapons for her mindless servants. Emylie Steelclaws has developed a means to purify the armor and weapons using the special properties of our Kejek forge and a smithy hammer blessed by the Titan Spirits. The purifying process transfers the imprisoned spirits into [soul orbs]. Ask Emylie about the purification process. You say, 'What are soul orbs?' Saemey Wirewhisker says 'I have perfected a ritual that will free the imprisoned spirits within the soul orbs. I simply require some kejek [spirit powder] to scrawl the proper sigils and a soul orb upon which to perform the ceremony. My apprentice will perform the ceremony on fading soul orbs. Simply bring him a fading soul orb and some kejek spirit powder. You say, 'What is kejek spirit powder?' Saemey Wirewhisker says 'The spirit power of which I speak is composed of ground spiritling stones. I will grind some powder for you if you would bring me a Valley Spiritling Stone, a Jungle Spiritling Stone, and a Mountain Spiritling Stone. Collecting the stones does not truly harm the spiritlings for when slain in this realm their essence simply disperses until it eventually reforms into a new spiritling.

The number of powders you receive must be random - the text above says 2 powders, the first time I did this I got one powder, and the next time I got 3 powders. Also, does anyone know what to do with the shattered soul orb you receive at the end?

What does this look like? It sounds like it would look cool, I wouldn't mind questing a set, as everything else on a halfling druid looks like pretty boring leather.

Where can the Oak Shaft be found? I would assume that this is the Oak Bow Shaft, but would hate to turn it in and lose the items. Could someone clue me in?

After looking around a little more, I found the Oak Shaft for sell on one of the pottery venders in katta. Payed around 1p for it.

I just did the quest today for the leggings, put the crystalized shadow leggings in the forge with hammer, got out purified spirit leggings, like it said. 2 agi instead of 3 and 5 vsmg. was looking for vsmg boost. But the leggings were NO RENT. Seems there must be more to this quest... Maybe another day I will look into it.

At level 30 I probably don't have any business trying to do this quest; Thanks to friends, I've almost completed it.
Large Brick of High Quality Ore:
I looked high and low for this item, but couldn't find it on the merchants listed anyplace or on the mobs listed here. I got lucky, in that I was camping the Goblin Alchemist in Permafrost and was with a kill happy Monk that decided the spawn time was too long. He killed the gobbos al around, I followed and looted. Score!!! one of the Goblins he killed had a Large Brick of High Quality Ore.
Crystalized Shadow Scimitar:
After research, I found that this drops off of mobs in the Tower of Frozen Shadow. Here is the part where I think I have no business trying this quest, because the lowest level mob on the starting level is 30. Thank you friends.
A couple of pointers:
Before going to Stonebrunt, I would accuire the Oak Shaft, the Large Brick of High Quality Ore, and the Crystalized Shadow Scimitar.
On my way from the zone to Kejek, I would hunt the spiritlings.
Go do the chatter with the cat people.
Find a titan. I didn't find Old Ghostback, so I took a chance and gave the hammer to SnowBeast (or something like that) and he gave me the next hammer :-)
Since I had to leave Stonebrunt to go to ToFS for the scimitar, I hope to finish the quest this weekend.

the crystalized shadow dagger drops in the Tower of Frozen Shadow....tho it's a lot easier to buy one, costs 40-60pp
The only ones who would sell this for 40-60pp are people who don't know about this quest yet. don't count on getting one for that. Should be more like 1kpp

the main problem with the weapons that are purified is that none have a very good ratio, so i guess some would use in the off hand for the resists. THE BEST VALUE is the dagger, because it can be carried in the range slot.....so you get those resists without having to use a bad ratio weapon. Plus the crystalized shadow dagger can be bought for 40pp...sounds great value to me
posts indicate the Dagger was nerfed to no longer fit in ranged slot.

How do you get the spiritling stones - where do you find the creatures that drop them?

you get them off of the Jungle, Mountain, and Valley Spiritlings right in Stonebrunt. But most of them drop burnt out lightstones that are No Rent; don't need those for this quest.

Just to confirm that Giang Yin, the panda Titan, will bless the hammer to make it a Soulforge Hammer. He was indifferent to me in normal form and did not respond to hails.

Slyder the Ancient, the titan snake in Stonebrunt can also bless the hammer. Judging from your post and the quest post, one can believe that any titan can bless the hammer...just give it to them and you should get the soulforge hammer.
Here's a short quest version from start to finish to craft your charisma/resist weapon:
*Give Emylie Steelclaws a Large Brick of High Quality Ore (found rarely off Pickclaw Goblins and from Fire Goblins in Sol A [among other places I'm sure]) and an Oak Shaft (found from most smithing merchants).
*Give the resulting Smithing Hammer to any Titan (rare spawns...players usually kill them if they can if they're up and wandering about). You get a Soulforge Hammer from the Titan and some exp and faction.
*Combine the resulting Soulforge Hammer and your choice of weapon/armor in the Forge at the Kejek Village to recieve the Hammer back (so you can get an infinite amount of weapons for your guild or yourself), an orb, and your new purified weapon.
My skill was a big, fat 0 in Smithing, so the good news is that no skill in smithing is involved with forging the purified weapons/armors! /cheer
Also, it's my opinion that these weapons are pretty useless in combat, but they're ok for buying stuff like dots from merchants and for a primary slot resist item for priests/casters.

This is to the last 2 posters. I am currently on Xev, and have done this quest numerous times. the forge is there, (looks like any forge) first building on the right, I purified a scimitar tonight as well. If you're getting an error message, try downloading the optional patch, it might help. I do believe that this quest continues somehow. I noticed tonight, that the spirits once freed travel quite a bit further than they used to, (didn't hail the erudite was being chased by my second freed heretic) before depspawning. Also being left with a shattered soul orb and a weapon that has been altered, and not necessarily for the best, leaves me wondering if this quest continues on somehow. It seems to me to be a rather lengthy quest for mediocre equipment, especially the no drop armor. (still looking for tunic. =p) If there's anyone on Xev that wants to get together and compare notes on this quest send a tell.

Somes infos on purified weapons.
I tried to purify a Fading Shadow Dagger and a Fading Shadow Scimitar in the Kejekan Forge and had this message :
[Tue Feb 05 20:45:41 2002] an Item you created DOES not exist in Dbase

So, Im doing this quest on the Xev server... I get the hammer... I go all the way out to find shadowed weapons and armor... Come all thew way back to Kejek and the Kejek forge is nowhere to be seen! There's only four buildings in the whole village so I know I didn't miss it! Is this yet another broken StoneBrunt Quest on Xev? I feel I have wasted a LOT of time on this quest!! GRRRRR!!!!!

Did any of you had to look for a Titan , or was there one up when u needed him for the quest. I want to know if starting this quest makes a titan spawn or not , cause they are pretty rare when u look for them. All info on this matter wil be gretly appreciated. Oh and did anyone forage any kejekan palmfruit or bambooshoots recently?
Very importan question. Do you need a set smithing skill to combine the items in the forge? a post under the tunic itself said was trivial at 140 something, but, as was asked in a previous post on this thread, is getting the new item based on your smithing skill, or just a matter of hitting combine and you get your new tunic? or leggings, or gloves, or whatever. Thanks.

I did it with a smithing skill of 0. Actually improved skill to 2 after 7 successful smithings. So no skill is needed.

maybe this is the silliest question of all, but where the heck do i get the Oak Shaft. i haven't seen any merchants carrying it :/

In addition to becoming Druid and Ranger usuable, purifying the tunic,legs, and boots makes the following changes:
Tunic: Adds 5 Magic Resist
Leggings: Adds 5 Magic Resist, Agi+2 instead of +3
Boots: Agi+2 instead of +3

I just did this for the first time with my 32 Druid. I turned in the Spirit Powder and a Fading Soul Orb to Mrowro, and a Fading Heretic Apparation spawned. It looks just like the mobs from the Library in TOFS. He starts floating away and I decide to follow him for no good reason. I guess the "Heretic" part should have tipped me off.
We're barely outside the village gates when it attacks me. I only had SOW and invis on. He was blue to me at 32 and I think it had some good MR, as it resisted Snare about 6,7 times and had 50-75% resists almost every time on my Combust spell.
Killing it gave no faction hits and it didn't drop any loot or items.

It seems like Allakhazam's been slipping lately. One of the most useful things I've gotten out of this site in the past is knowing what quests I can do at my current level. Lately this site isn't even telling us what level you should be before attempting the quest to begin with, which makes that handy search feature I've paid for sort of useless. I know I can look at the mobs involved and go to the bestiary to see what level they are... but this isn't why I paid for premium. Besides that, I have to agree with Aaun, can't we just summarize a bit here? Just tell us what we need to know, I want to know what to do and the quickest way to do it. I can read the npc text myself in game. Since things are slowing down so much prior to the release of Luclin, why not go through what's already posted and fill in the blanks?
Not that I'm downing Allakhazam's... this is still THE best EQ site on the web. But it could still be a lot better.

Why does every quest spoiler listed over the past few months give every single word, leter, and punctuation mark of the quest?
I'm nearly blind from reading about 10 quests. All of which could easily be summarized and combined and be shorter than this 1 spoiler.
They used to simplify the explanations which made more sense. We're going to see all of the non vital text as we do the quest ourselves. It seams a waste of their bandwidth to include all of the nonessentials.

Hate to say it, but I, for one, enjoy the full-text versions of the quests. If there's a hint about a future quest in the text, perhaps I'll find it. Otherwise, there's no point to listing more than the path of least effort of each quest, and that way, you'd miss out on little things like why the quest was started, how someone discovered it in the first place, and like that. And compared to the comment content following each quest, the full-text description takes up comparatively little room...

As far as the shattered orbs go, it might be a quest that continues when Luclin comes out. Who knows what we will need then. There are also the 2 maybe 3 zones that could show up off of Stonbrunt based on the dead end tunnels and such.
