    You say, 'Hail, Shazda Kaekwon'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'Shalom, _____! I welcome you to our humble village in these [trying times].

    You say, 'What trying times?'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'There are many threats currently facing this village. The kobolds of Clan Kolbok are becoming bolder in pushing the boundaries of the territory in which they usually hunt. A few of the kobolds now hunt recklessly, killing for pleasure instead of sustenance. [Rognarog] the Infuriated is the most murderous of such kobolds. Then there are the [heretics] that have been invading both Clan Kolbok and Kejek territories alike, practicing their dark sorceries as a show of devotion to their faceless god.

You say, 'What about the Heretics?'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'The heretics have not only corrupted their own spirits but they defile the spirits of the dead with their evil sorceries. Fill this satchel with the heads of invading heretics and I shall reward you for your allegiance to Kejek.

Receive Burlap Satchel. Inside it, combine four Heretic Heads (any combination of male and female heads works). Then hand in the Satchel of Heretic Heads.

Shazda Kaekwon says 'Less heretics to defile the lands and spirits. You have the gratitude of Kejek for your assistance in repelling the heretic threat.'

Your faction standing with Kejek Village has been adjusted by 8.
Your faction standing with Peace Keepers has been adjusted by 1.
    You gain experience!!
You receive 8 copper from Shazda Kaekwon.
You receive 7 gold from Shazda Kaekwon.
You receive 3 platinum from Shazda Kaekwon.

Sometimes you may receive Kejekan Tribal Headband or Swiftclaw Sash. These are not common, however.

Let me just clear something up right now, i have done this quest 4 times so far and no sash, must be a rare reward, the heretics are random spawn random location, you have to be above 24 to do the quest but the heads wont drop if you are about 36 - 37 or above. you need a tracker, and they usually spawn between 3 to 6 hours, ive had them spawn about 15 min apart before but the average is 3 to 6 hours, and they are kos to everything, beware of freekin tigers lol.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 10 2001 at 8:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Not meant to twink? Of course not, Everquest to us is a game, but to the creators it's a business. If people could cheat or hack it easily, it would be too easy to play. If after a person hit level 55 and wanted to play a cleric went ahead to twink, and couldn't, it's because of the BUSINESS end of it. Think about it. Aside from all the BS that you people talk about "fairness", and all that BS, there is what is called "reality". "Reality" is I've played this game since March of 1999. Now, if I want to start up a Troll SK and give him some stuff so I can maul through some mobs my first 20 levels, who are YOU to say I can't, that I'm stealing, that I'm cheating, that I'm anything? It is my right, my privledge, and within my ability to do so. Yes. It'd be nice to be able to weed out greedy people, I don't want to loose my FBSS camp to a level 60 Necromancer, but guess what!! When my now level 51 necromancer gets to level 60 I want some payoff! I want to farm, I want to use that Spectre pet..or if I were a mage instead, you BETTER believe I'd use my epic pet to lay waste to YOU, your family, your neighbors, and your dog! Why? Because I could, because I wanted to, because I'm bored, who cares why? I just would.

Got to play Devil's advocate, because, hey, I can.
I do agree with you to a point. But on the flipside, you said "when you were struggling", so I'm sure there was a time when you didn't or couldn't twink, and maybe it pissed you off to, to walk into that camp and find a farmer, wannabe twinker or whatever there. You're trying to get an item you really need on the character you are logged onto, and someone else... another class or race who can't even use the item is already there, and more than likely to farm that item to twink his level 3 Ranger or whatever. If it didn't... well, let's just say, I'm not sure I'd believe you.

Just remember where you came from and how hard you worked to get that first character up to whatever level he is now, and remember how happy you were when you got the items you do have. That's why people complain, not because it's personal, or they're whining but because THEY CAN. If you can rant, so can they. Although you do have to distinguish between the selfish and the truly needy, which is more complicated than it sounds. And that is what truly sucks. Who is a good, honest, humble player and who is lower than a bag of Troll guts (no offense to Trolls or their guts).

We would all get along better, and probably have a much better game if we weren't at each other throats about stupid stuff, and you're right about that. It is stupid to whine and complain. Is it wrong to twink and farm? Absolutely not. I don't see any rules about it. Is it wrong to whine about not liking farmers/twinkers? Absolutely not. No rules about that either.

There are exceptions to every rule, and every exception also has an exception. My point is, if you want to farm and twink, go for it, just remember how you started out and show a little honor and kindness to the guy who really needs that item or weapon, if the character you are currently on does not. I know there are very few kind and noble people out there, but doing a good turn does go a long way. If no one is around or minds... hey, more power to you... burn down the Temple Of Life, massacre that Derv camp or turn the Frenzied Ghoul into creamed corn. Just try not to be too upset when some one whines about it, because there will always be whiners, and there will also be players who do not have good intentions.

Ignoring the whiners and playing your own game to the best of your ability and showing a little gratitude and politeness to others will make you that much more of a better player and if you do it right, then who cares if you want to farm an FBSS for your level 2 Warrior. And if someone still does... then so what, you did your best, and you know you're a damn good player.

Let the good, honest, hard working players who want to experiment and have some fun twinking or whatever eat their cake, and let the kill stealing, selfish, whiny and ignorant jerks who farm, twink, cheat and steal from younger inexperienced players because they can't get past level 30 eat me.

But hey, I do agree with you, well written and obviously thought out... point taken, message recieved, just try not to be bitter about it. ***** those who complain cuz they want attention or something to whine about and let them post here on the site for whiners. Hopefully those who need the items will be human about it and ask nicely, and hopefully those who have endured and want to treat themselves will in turn be civil.

Of course, that's only in a perfect world and EQ is probably less perfect than the real world.

I, too am sorry I ranted.

The only people who complain about twinking are people who cant do it. I.E. low lvl main chars. but you know damn well when they get of lvl they will start a new char and twink it out. thats all there is to it.

I agree with you fully. I too have been playing EQ for quite some time, and have yet to get a single haste item. I am lvl 23 and can possibly get this item, but my lvl 56 war never had such an opportunity. Im also hanging out in Stonebrunt, and find myself for no reason twinking any newbie i see when i return from stonebrunt to quenos. Im really losing money here! The split bamboo armor that occasionally drops off the kobolds I mass murder is the only thing I save to sell in EC. Also, I do believe there IS some kind of exp bonus at stonebrunt, because im getting an INSANE amount of exp from low blue mobs, even in a group. I recomend LoIO over this place though, just because of the saftey of the mobs. I though aminals didnt attack rangers? Geez, learned that the hard way when I got gang raped by 3 tigers. Also it seems my spells are resisted and fizzle much easier in this, and the Warrens zone. As for twinking, if you are selling soft wicker to merchants, shame on you! Same goes with Blue wicker! GIVE (not sell) to a newbie ASAP. Not a low level character. A NEWBIE. I lost my best EQ buddy to Camelot already, keep as many as we can, ok?! Good hunting, and root-n-shoot rules!

*gives standing ovation* I agree 120%! In my opinion there is no such thing as twinking. Why you ask? Simple, first if you are giving it to another of the characters you have made, hey you earned it! Maybe not with that character, but you still earned it, so go for it! Second if you are giving it to a friend, so what?!?! If you were giving it to a stranger, its call kindness, but if it is your friend, its not ok?!? whats up with that. Bottom line is this, if someone is mad at you for twinking its becuase they are jealous they cant do it themselves, or are trying to upset you, in either case there is no point in getting upset. SO the next time someone says your a Twink, pause look at them laugh and walk away. Now as for the whole trival looting thing, its stupid, a camp is a camp no matter what level the person is. (And dont give me the crap about no such thing as a camp, EVERYONE in the game camps. It doesnt matter what Verant says or does, there will always be camps, so get over it) OK, done ranting....Back to your regularly scheduled program.

Sorry i ranted too hehe

It's all very simple folks. It's a rarer spawn so you need patience ... and a Ranger to help you out. Get the Ranger to stand in the cat fort in StoneBrunt and keep on checking track. CONTINUOUSLY, cause those heretics are KOS to almost everything. They spawn fairly close to the cat fort though. Then, run like the wind to the heretic and kill him.

The "heretic invader" conned black to me (I'm a 25 Ranger), so use your /trackfilter wisely Rangers and make your job easier. I helped out a 30 Monk yesterday and the two of us killed him no problem. The heads are NO DROP. I didn't want the head at this point, so he paid me for my time, instead of rolling for it. Nice little trade off. 30 minutes of tracking and I made about 75pp.

General hint: Rangers, get that tracking up - it will pay off!
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 09 2001 at 10:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ARGH!!! Alright, I have a different rant for this quest. I could care less about the stupid sash (well, thats not entirely true), what I want though is that positive Peacekeeper faction hit! But can I get it?! NO!!! Simply because I am lvl 51. One of two factions in Erudin that I'm not amiable or better with and no other way to raise it!(without OBSCENE amounts of work anyway, although I'm not entirely sure that this isn't also obscene amounts of work) Furthermore, without raising it, I can never raise the merchant faction in Erudin!
    RE: Faction
    # Sep 10 2001 at 10:20 AM Rating: Decent
There is a way to work within Trivial Loot Code and still get your heads. You don't say what class you are, but it doesn't matter too much (you certainly aren't an Enchanter or Bard, and since you are talking about Merchants, you probably don't have Sneak either). If you are a Healing class, that'll help a lot.

The answer is, hire a mid-level character - or more than one - including a Ranger unless you're one yourself - and accompany to find the Heretics. Don't group with them while they kill, but support with Stuns, heals, taunts or whatever - just make sure that they do more than half the damage. Then loot the head when the corpse unlocks. Repeat 3 times. Combine the Heads in the bag, and hand it in. You WILL get the faction and some sort of reward, and the mid-level person gets experience and some payment. You both win.

If you don't want to waste time working with "lowbies", then just go somewhere suitable to your level instead and let the mid-levels have their fun.

Congratulations! You have just described the loop hole in TLC. The official excuse for TLC is to prevent farming, however you just described the future of farming: 2 accounts, 2 characters, 1 is a healer (shaman, druid, cleric) and the other is a melee type.

This is exactly my issue with TLC, and I've sent a few post to the offical boards.

I don't mind not being able to loot stuff, I can't say I like being punished for leveling, but it's ok I can accept it.

However questing is fun, raising faction can be fun (if you like that sort of thing) and can be VERY useful. TLC on quests is a stupid, stupid idea. It was a stupid idea in the quests in the warrens, it still is in the quests in stonebrunt and it will be IF TLC goes live with SoL (and they've said it hasn't been determined yet, so get complaining :)).

There is no justification for stopping people from doing quests and espcially quests for faction simply because of thier level, none at all.

I agree compleatly about this TLC its not that bad but i hate it still i am a lvl 20 ranger and am going to do this quest soon but the idea of not being able to do the only quest that will raise my merchant faction in the litterbox is crazy. btw i was just wondering what site to go to to log an offical complaint to Verant.

Okay I've done the quest twice now. First time I got the headband. Second time I got the sash. I have 3 more heads so I'll be doing it again soon. =) I don't think that the type of heads has an affect on the reward, nor do I think the reward is influenced by your race/class. It seems to just be random to me. I'm getting great exp hunting in Stonebrunt so I'm going to keep doing the quest as long as I can (some of the lower heretics are green to me already but still give heads).

And I will state it once again, since so many people seem to be unable to look at the older posts (hint: there is more than one page of posts) the heads drop from "a heretic invader" I'd estimate them ranging from lvl22 to lvl26 or so. Necros and Shadowknights. They tend to in the middle of the zone a bit south of the village, near where the grassy area begins.

The heretics move around on their own. I've never found two in the exact same place. I don't think they even spawn at the exact same spot each time but I could be wrong. Other than saying to look near the middle of the zone, south of the village I can't get more exact. If you don't have a tracker with you this quest will be very difficult. Even with tracking, it still takes a long time. I started at halfway through 33 and have levelled all the way to 36 in Stonebrunt and I've now seen 15 heretics. Keep in mind that 35 is a "hell" level, so I've logged quite a few hours hunting/tracking here.

Are you people all stupid? Rather than whining about the trivial code, which lets lower lvls actually hunt decent drops and get exp, rather than a 60 soloing it; Rather than complaining about the farmers; Rather than arguing that you paid 230498230p for your FBSS... Who cares? Here's what's nice about this item: ITS ANOTHER HASTE BELT! This means a few things. First off, FBSS prices will probably sag a bit, though this doesn't have the haste that an FBSS has. (Note: When you parse for haste, you don't just go by number of attacks...particularly if you have any special attack skills. Give it to a caster.) But now all you people whining that the FBSS always has a group of 60's camping it, go hunt for this one. You highlvl people don't have to worry, you didn't get nerf'd by the trivial code, you still have your own campgrounds, which drops a better item to boot. So why don't we all get together and sing a cheery song becuase there's more haste in the game now, which means more dmg, which means maybe, just maybe, my poor little enchanter won't die so often :)

I don't really even have a main character, since I play so many different characters, but currently my highest level character is a level 52 druid. He's wearing ulthork hide sleeves and tunic, a Leatherfoot Raider Skullcap, and some old Splitpaw Hide Gloves. He's wearing an Acolyte's Anklet, a level 10 quest reward for priests in Rivervale! For the longest time, he was around level 50, wearing mammoth hide leggings and a belt of the river! Why? Because I DON'T FARM. I don't even like camping items that I want to use! I just play, have fun, gain levels, explore, group, solo, and make do with shoddy equipment. When a new item comes along that's better than something I already have, I have every right to go get it myself, regardless of what level the zone is. I've said it elsewhere, and I'll say it again here: Trivial Loot Code does NOT solve the farming issue. Trivial Loot Code just turns the low level characters into the farmers, and turns the higher level characters into the *victims*.

I don't like the idea of farming items. TLC screws *me* over, and I'm not even a farmer! :(

    # Sep 08 2001 at 6:53 AM Rating: Default
Yea i agree that the lvl thing sux, instead they should have a minimal equipable lvl on each weapon that way a lvl 20 cant equip a yak, that would be way better , then nobody could twink or wanna farm. cause the people who needed them could go out and get them theirselves =)
    RE: Better Idea
    # Sep 15 2001 at 12:14 PM Rating: Decent
I disagree though I admit this is an intelligent idea. I think this would rule out twinking, but on the other hand I believe that people should be able to twink. Now I am only level 30 but when I get to the hi levels I would like to be able to give my new character some nice stuff. I think that if every time you start over a character you have to literally start over from scratch the game would get frustrating after awhile. Maybe yall fill differently about this, but thats just my opinion on the matter.
    RE: Better Idea
    # Sep 08 2001 at 2:06 PM Rating: Default
This is actually one of the more intellegent ideas I heard in a long time except for the goofy explanation hehe. You are correct though if there was a minimum lvl limit on the weapons themselves then there would be no need to twink which wouldnt completely stop farming but it would cut it down alot because the items wouldnt sell hehe, or if ya wanted to make it realistic which is what they try to achive so much in this game make the weapons equipable but cut your stats in half until a certain lvl. For example say a wurmslayer had a minimum lvl of 40, if a lvl 20 equiped it the weapon would cut all the players stats in half because his skill and training aren sufficient enough to wield that heavy weapon properly hehe. :) Good idea though im all for it :)
    RE: Better Idea
    # Sep 09 2001 at 4:41 PM Rating: Default
Actually, the idea is already in game on some very high lvl dropable items, such as Club of the Ice Ocean (can't be equiped till you hit 50). Oh, and the lvl you listed (40) on a WS is just too high for it for your average non twink warrior on my server at least can afford to buy one by lvl 32 or 33.

People are wondering what drops the Heretic heads...well to your surprise are Heretics, i think random spawns all around the zone, rare to see. The one i killed was by snowy area south of City..I was there for about 4 hours after zone launched and exploring i found only 1 Heretic, i was 40 and he was blue to me. I killed him and dropped head, YES it is nodrop.
    Hope it helps
Man some people piss me off!!
    # Sep 07 2001 at 5:03 PM Rating: Default
Just because the MOBS are lower lvls doesn't mean that they dont drop good things. Some of us worry about gettin high lvls before we worry about our gear. I am not a farmer for items, although I am person that likes to twink his guildies and his friends out. Is there something wrong with that?
It's not only the Farmers complaining. Granted I think its a great idea to put restrictions to loot, but its not right to keep the higher lvl people from getting good items...Does anyone know how hard it is to get the FBSS camp, or the Sash of Dragon Born, if you dont it's VERY HARD...it's not like they are common drops. Come on people, it may dropped by something your lvl, but that doesn't make it anyless of an item.

P.S. If people are farming an item...it's because its good, not because they are stealing from anyone, so quit crying that high lvls "steal" your things...Spend the time to get high lvl chars...then see how sucky it is to try and twink a character or two. IT TAKES A LOT OF TIME!

So everyone just quit crying. Its not gonna help ya's.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 08 2001 at 7:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Uhm got some news for ya, your not meant to twink ;) Therefore thats why lower-levels that have a challenge to kill something are angry when a high level comes in and drops it without effort. Not to flame ya or anything but that is how the lower levels see it.
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 27 2001 at 1:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) man the only people who whine about famrers or winkies are the morons who dont know how to or to damn jealous. i tweaked my lvl 25 ranger with only 500p just buying and selling in EC now i got 1 yak dragon horn yak ivy etch armor some rygorr and all i need is a haste weapon. it not great stuff but i made an effort to do so. so stop whining about tweakers and why there should be lvl limit for weapons and armor wait til u can start tweaking.

How to get around the Trivial Loot Code
    # Sep 07 2001 at 7:11 AM Rating: Decent
Here's my idea to get around that stupid trivial loot code. Take your godlike characters into any zone with that code and find a deserving and willing lower level player and say you will powerlevel them -- but that you want whatever specific loot you are looking for. Buff them like they have never seen before and even help them in the fight making sure you don't do more than half the damage on the MOB. Then after its dead Group with them. That way when they loot the corpse you can see what was on it and no worries about them being dishonest about what was on the corpse. Tell them they can have all the cash and any loot that you are not specifically looking for. This works out for everyone. The other player gets incredibly fast and easy EXP, money and some loot at little or no danger. And you can get that item for yourself or that twink of yours will. You may soon see lower level players being happy to see those super high level players in those lower-level zones and them coming up to you saying if you want something in the zone here..powerlevel me and I'll get it for you.

They show up as "a heretic invader" on track.

I can usually pick up on track at or just down the hill from the cat fort...if headed toward The Warrens. Spawns are very uncommon, and usually killed my other mobs quickly. Best time seems around 9am or so.

    Hope that helps...

The heads drop off "a heretic invader", which could either be a male SK or female necro, from my experience. They wander the sone in Stonebrunt, and are KOS to other mobs, so don't last long. I believe between lvl 25-30 or so. Blue to my bard at 33.
