    You say, 'Hail, Shazda Kaekwon'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'Shalom, _____! I welcome you to our humble village in these [trying times].

    You say, 'What trying times?'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'There are many threats currently facing this village. The kobolds of Clan Kolbok are becoming bolder in pushing the boundaries of the territory in which they usually hunt. A few of the kobolds now hunt recklessly, killing for pleasure instead of sustenance. [Rognarog] the Infuriated is the most murderous of such kobolds. Then there are the [heretics] that have been invading both Clan Kolbok and Kejek territories alike, practicing their dark sorceries as a show of devotion to their faceless god.

You say, 'What about the Heretics?'

Shazda Kaekwon says 'The heretics have not only corrupted their own spirits but they defile the spirits of the dead with their evil sorceries. Fill this satchel with the heads of invading heretics and I shall reward you for your allegiance to Kejek.

Receive Burlap Satchel. Inside it, combine four Heretic Heads (any combination of male and female heads works). Then hand in the Satchel of Heretic Heads.

Shazda Kaekwon says 'Less heretics to defile the lands and spirits. You have the gratitude of Kejek for your assistance in repelling the heretic threat.'

Your faction standing with Kejek Village has been adjusted by 8.
Your faction standing with Peace Keepers has been adjusted by 1.
    You gain experience!!
You receive 8 copper from Shazda Kaekwon.
You receive 7 gold from Shazda Kaekwon.
You receive 3 platinum from Shazda Kaekwon.

Sometimes you may receive Kejekan Tribal Headband or Swiftclaw Sash. These are not common, however.

So I spend the time to get there - and no Heritics pop - so I sit and wait. I ran the zone for about two hours up and down - no pop. I went to EQ Atlis and looked up the zone - no "A Heretic" listed. What gives - someone please tell me what they are called if they go by another name - I C below that another player had the same question. Please post here if u know the answer.

They are called A Heretic Invader. Sometimes a fellow named Jelquar the Soulslayer(SK 30-32) will spawn in place of an unnamed heretic. Both drop the head.

WOW there sure are some moronic posts here, like no one reads the quest at the top of the page!

people who think that because the bag looks the same with any combo of heads that there is no programming difference! . . . come on! would be so easy to have another attibute to the item that we players just cant see! although i dont believe the type of head makes any difference either.

every haste item has an argument on how to calculate how much faster it is . ..

very hard to actually get anything useful off these pages.

    I bet verant loves this.

The heretics like me, and i want to do this quest, but do you get serious faction hits for killing them? I'd like to keep my faction with them steady. I con amiable to them, any idea how many heretics i can kill before the fair people of Paineel dont seem fair to me?
    RE: Faction
    # Feb 27 2002 at 10:38 PM Rating: Decent
Kill the kobolds running around to balance the loss of faction you get from killing the heretics. I don't believe it's a one to one ratio for faction lost / gained with this method though.

For me, it doesn't really matter, because I don't hang around Paineel. I can still move safely from Tox to The Warrens even if I'm KOS by the Heretics.

    # Feb 22 2002 at 1:55 AM Rating: Decent
I just thought I'd update on this. I finally got the sash on the 11th attempt! Yes it does exist. I don't beleive there is any magic to it other than pure luck. I have turned in every imaginable combination of heads at all sorts of times this time was 3 Female 1 male head. (not like it matters). It's a long wait but well worth it and it loads cheaper than FBSS at 4k

    # Mar 13 2002 at 5:59 PM Rating: Decent
11 attempts? well worth it? that comes out to like 58 RL hours man. heretics spawn 1 every EQ day. EQ day = approx 1 hour 20 min. that's a lot of dang time. over 2 days straight, no rest. at mid levels that is at least 2-3 levels, and that is playing around. I think I will go fight elsewhere and try to buy the dumb thing. saw it for sale on tarew marr for 3k the other day.

Heretics can spawn far more often than once per EQ day. I have hunted this zone extensively, and have twice been able to get 4 heads in 1 EQ day. Several times I have had a another spawn approx 5 minutes after killing one. The trick is to get to them quick, as they will be killed quickly by the animals. On the flip side, I've done this quest 5 times without getting the sash. I've tried several different combinations that people recommended here and they didn't work. My feeling is that it is a random chance to get sash having nothin whatever to do with the combo of heads.

    Annoying Quest
    # Feb 08 2002 at 9:42 AM Rating: Default
This quest is extremely annoying. I am a 31 Druid. I have been doing this quest for 4 or 5 days. This is my experience.

Dont forget to combine the heads like I did. They will thank you but they will not give you jack. Take a tracker with you or you will never find these heretics. They supposedly spawn about once every hour. But there have been times when I have camped them a long time, and I never saw them on track. They spawn south of the kitty village, just sit at neg 1000, neg 1000 and hide and track. It is a long boring quest. Sometimes you will get lucky and a couple will spawn at very close intervals, but this is VERY rare. Also, there is a lot of roaming tigers and gorillas that roam the entire zone and they WILL agro you. Make sure and stay out of their way if you want to have the mana or hp ready when the heretic spawns. The other mobs agro the heretics too and they will wax the heretics so you have to get to the heretic fairly closely to when it spawns or something else will kill. I completed the quest once already and all I got was a headband. All I really want is the sash, but I have some alts I can give the headband to. The headbands are worth a fair amount of coin and luckily nothing is lore, or no drop so you can collect them. NEway. This is my experience, I hope it helps. Cheers.

    Got it! And a theory...
    # Feb 06 2002 at 7:09 AM Rating: Decent
I just got my sash yesterday, sixth time I returned the bag with the heads. Faction or head combination doesn't matter.
Heretics spawned on an average of one per hour. Sometimes just five minutes after the previous one, sometimes two hours. But I have a theory, that if you kill kobolds, they'll spawn sooner. Heretics almost always pop first or second to my tracking list. Now I'm not exactly sure how the tracking list order works... But I started killing those on top of the list (usually different types of kobolds), and often after killing a few a heretic spawned. Might be just coincidence, but I thought you might want to try.
    Good luck!

Actually the way tracking works for classes without sorting is top of the list is the newest spawns. I read this somewhere and it seems to hold true to what you said.

Just thought I'd update you guys 10 times complete 10 headbands

The heretics are Necros and SK's in the low 20's. The SK's do a harm touch for 251 and the necros like to try and fear you. Easy kills for High 30's to low 40's.....too easy.

I've been camping the Heretics for over 2 weeks now. Completed the quest numerous times and never got anything more than the headband - 7 times to be exact. I've tried upping my cha, turning it in at night, at day, various types heads in the bag... all the same result. It's just chance. I'm determined and will continue to try until I get it.

Boy this is annoying. Done this quest seven times now. Been in SB for the last 13 days killed 31 heretics and I bet when i get my next kill and turn em in ill get another headband. Its a good job there no graphic on the headband or all the newbies in tox would look like Rambo. This is such a hard quest I think it might just be easier to go camp the Frenzied Ghoul in Guk. I am sure that 13 days at about 5 hours a day I would have had 1 by now. Ah well 3 more tries and i am gonna go off and try something easier like camping Quillimane.

OK 10 times now and still no sash has anybody done this on Mith Marr ??? I am starting to lose the will to live. (BTW whilst not killing Heretics the Raging Highland Kobolds have been my main target, and in all this time theres only been about 8 Iron Etched pieces drop and none of those were boots or a breastplate, just my luck.)

Ive done the quest 4 times and my faction is indifferent. I received the headband all 4 times. I read thru most of the posts and no one mentioned their faction rating. Could it be that you need better faction than indifferent in order to get the sash instead of the headband. I am not giving up on this quest just curious if this might be something to look at. If I get the sash at indifferent Ill post here again. Good luck all.

I am pretty sure faction makes no difference since some people appear to get it first go. Besides i am aimiable due to doing this quest so many times and the last 2 times (No's 10 and 11) I still got the headband. Faction sure helps when selling to the tradespersons though.

Turned in the heads for the first time and got the sash. When I saw the graphic it looked like a headband to me, but when I read the stats was most pleasantly surprised. I really can notice the timing difference with my wurmy. It feels more like when I was using normal delay weapons. Good luck to everyone else. Got this on Terris Thule.

I play on sullon zek and have just completed the quest two times the other day. I obtained 5 heads in about 4 and a half hours of hunting them. I am a lv 25 ranger and obtained the sash. It was my 5th time completeing the quest. I can solo the heretics easily, i only died once. Head combination has no bearing on the quest reward. They spawn from about 5 mins apart to hour and half, with average spawn of 30 to 45 mins. Just sit and hide somewhere south of the kejekan village where you can not track any named cats in the town, and can just track the kejekan fisherman. The spawn just south of the village to the ocean; along the east wall all the way to the west wall. If you too are lv 25 and wish to solo them here is my strategy. If you encounter a male, snare kite him with your bow and ignite spell until he has equal life to you, after the harm touch, or less. Then melee him. He will fall with little trouble. You can also follow him till he uses his harm touch on a kobold or leopard, then kill him. The necromancers are dangerous. Snare them and get into melee as fast as possible. Use low delay weapons to interupt their casting. They will fear you and kill you quickly. I see very many people give up on this quest. Don't give up and keep trying. If you play all day you could do the quest about 3 times. Don't kill anything while you wait on the spawn, just concentrate on the heretics. It is a very easy quest to solo at lv 25.

More information to my prior post.

The heretics con even, very rarely, and blue. The combination of heads makes absolutely no difference to the reward because you combine them in a bag.
Haste: The haste on the sash is very noticeable. I am not familiar with any other haste sashes, but this one gives a very significant increase to my attack speed. For anyone that is familiar with stonebrunt, the haste on this sash increases my attack speed more than the walking sleep spell, the slow spell, that the kobold shamans cast slows me down. This means that with the sash on, and the slow spell, I still attack faster than if I did not have the sash. It is very nice.
Loc: I camp on a hill near the loc -1200 by -700, in that area. Hope this helps anyone that wants this sash.

    # Feb 01 2002 at 3:42 AM Rating: Default
The fact that the combined pack looks the same in every detail regardless of the combo of heads does not mean the the bags are not different. There are quite a number of quests where you give an item to a npc only to have it given back to you. Sometimes the item will change but other times it looks exactly the same as when you turned it in but if you try to skip that part of the quest it won't work. I'm not saying that there is any one combo that is the right one. But be warned that them looking the same don't mean squat. I'm thinking that the reward is more likely influenced but faction or charisma. The higher the more likely to get haste belt. Just my 2cp.

P.S. please don't take this as a flame it's late hehe

Why is there a debate on which class this item is best for? It makes you faster... If you're a Monk, you're a faster Monk with it. If you're a Ranger, you're a fater Ranger with it. If you're a Paladin, you're a faster Paladin... What are you people talking about?
