We have a report as of September 12, 2013, that this quest may be broken due to a dialogue loop, making it impossible to progress.

This is the quest method of obtaining Ghoulbane. It is also a drop, which is described in the Ghoulbane quest.

Ryshon Hunsti is located in West Karana, on the shore in the southeast corner.

Hail Ryshon Hunsti

Ryshon Hunsti says, 'Hello _____. What brings you to the Karanas? Do you seek [enlightenment]?

You say, 'I seek enlightenment'

Ryshon Hunsti says, 'Ahh, i could see by the look in your eyes that you are looking for something more than just enlightenment. Perhaps you are looking for a [sword] crafted by a noble man.

You say, 'What sword?'

Ryshon Hunsti says, 'It is not just a sword friend. It is much more than that. This sword carries with it special [power], something unlike anything else within this realm.'

You say, 'What power?'

Ryshon Hunsti says, 'It is an instrument fashioned together by noble man. It is said to be blessed by the gods themselves. Only a man who comes from nobility may wield it. Do you seek the [sword of nobility]?'

You say, 'I seek the sword of nobility'

Ryshon Hunsti says, 'I see, then take this note to Kanthuk Ogrebane. I've been told he can be found fishing not far from the dwarven city.'

He gives you Note to Kanthuk.

Travel to Butcherblock Mountains to the boat docks. Once zoned in to Butcherblock; follow the path to the city and follow the path to the dock but on the north side. The same side you will find Walnan and Grindbar. Looking at your map; he is in between them. If you follow the wall down to the water and then follow the water line you should run into him. There is a big boat and he is standing right on the shore/water line at /loc +2202, +2996

You say, 'Hail, Kanthuk Ogrebane'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'Hello'

Hand Kanthuk the note and get some experience.

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'Ahh, I see you have spoke to Ryshon. You seem tired from your long journey. Sit with me as I tell you a tale. A tale about a true friend of mine, a great man known as [Amstaf Trunolis].'

You say, ' Who is Amstaf Trunolis?'

Kanthuk ogrebane says, 'Amstaf Trunolis was a good man. I've followed into [battle] many times. We've seen many of our friends die by the sword of others.'

You say, 'What battle?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane laughes, 'I remember the first time we charged into battle. I was so scared. My hands wouldn't stop trembling. Amstaf pulled me off to the side before the initial attack began. He held my hands within his. I saw his hands begin to glow and felt his energy pass into me. I felt [courage].

You say, 'What courage?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'I'll never forget what he did for me that day. He gave me the courage to continue. No one's ever done anything like that for me. I vowed that day that I'd follow him into any battle. I'd be there alongside him, no matter what. As time went on we came across an elven woman named [Ambreen].

You say, 'Who is Ambreen?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'Ambreen was younger than he and I. She knew of the powers of nature. She was able to control the rain which fell from the heavens and would call upon the spirits to aide her. It was obvious that Amstaf took a liking to Ambreen. She ended up coming with is on out crusades. The last I saw of Ambreen was when we went to the snow covered lands of Everfrost. We were wander the lands when a freak [snowstorm] hit us. We were seperated from one another for quite some time.'

You say, 'What snowstorm?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'I don't know where it came from, but it was so sudden that it caught us all off guard. The snow quickly became unbearable. I tried to move to higher ground, but was unable to. I was stuck within the snowy confines. I didn't know what to do [next].'

You say, 'What happened next?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'As I laid there my body began to slowly freeze. I knew death was near and accepted the inevitable. Suddenly I felt something clutching at my cloak. I was being dragged upwards out of the snow. A hand pressed against my chest and began to glow. I felt energy pass into my body. Do you know [how] he had saved me?'

You say, 'How did he save you?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'He saved my life by laying his hands upon my body. A few moments later we found Ambreen lying in the snow, her body frozen by the harsh surroundings. We lifted her up off the ground and began to look for [shelter].'

You say, 'What shelter?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'We ended up taking refuge within a deserted cabin not to far from our location. We knew that we didn't have much time left to bring life back into her body. However, the storm didn't pass through and we knew we couldn't venture to far without the fear of freezing. I warmed the cabin and rested for some time thinking about what we were going to do. It wasn't long before my exhaustion took over. I fell into a deep [slumber] that night.'

You say, 'What slumber?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'That night I dreamt of many things. Random thoughts kept swirling around my mind. I kept seeing the image of a cloaked being and of Amstaf circled around a fire. I saw Ambreen's body convulsing above the fire as if life was being brought back to it. I don't know what happened that night. I don't even know if what i dreamt was real, but before I awoke I saw a [strange image].'

You say, 'What strange image?'

Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'I saw Amstaf lower his head and walked away in silence. He was surronded by two beings carrying a torch. I don't know what it meant, but I swear it was so real. When I awoke both Amstaf and Ambreen were gone. Please find Llara and give this pendant to her. This pendant belonged to Amstaf. She too had a vision that night that may clear things up. If she asks where you got it from, mention my name.'

You receive a Pendant.

Next you need to find Llara. She is standing on a rock in Dagnor's Cauldron, just outside of the Estate of Unrest.

Llara says 'Oh my! This belongs to Amstaf. Where did you get it?

You say, 'Kanthuk gave it to me'

Llara says 'I take it you're here to find out more about [Amstaf].'

You say, 'Who was Amstaf?'

Llara says 'I've known Amstaf since he was a child. We grew up in the same city together. Ever since I've known him there's always been something [unusual] about him.'

You say, 'What was unusual?'

Llara says 'When we were growing up we used to venture outside the city gates. Some times we would encounter a wandering ghoul or an undead spirit of some sort. He was always able to quickly dismiss the undead being with very little effort. I [learned] many things growing up with Amstaf.'

You say, 'What did you learn?'

Llara says 'Amstaf told me many things when we were younger. Once Amstaf told me that life isn't about how you get there, it's about where you end up. I miss my dear friend. Its been a long time since I've seen him. The night of the snowstorm I dreamt about him. I remember seeing Amstaf's face. I saw something I've never [seen] before.'

You say, 'What did you see?'

Llara says 'I saw desperation. I spoke to many people who knew Amstaf trying to find out if anyone heard anything about that night. No one knew anything about it. When I had reached the dwarven hunting grounds I ran into a woman named Walnan. She kept rambling on and on about the power of the Orb and something about Magi`kot. I didn't understand what she was saying. She didn't know anything about my situation either, but she did tell me that there were others that may be able to help me. She told me that I should find [Ruathey].'

You say, 'Who is Ruathey?'

Llara says 'Ruathey is known for her ability to look into people's souls and find truth. Though I wasn't able to find Amstaf, I was able to recover his sword. I believe that by having his sword I am closer to finding him. Take this note to Ruathey and tell her that I sent you.

You can find Ruathey in Lavastorm Mountains, near the Nektulos Forest zoneline.

You say, 'Hail Ruathey'

Ruathey says 'Hello Chork .'

Ruathey says 'I see that you've spoken to Llara. She too came to me looking for Amstaf. Though she wasn't able to find her friend, she was able to recover his [sword].

You say, 'What sword?'

Ruathey says 'I've heard stories about a holy sword. There are many rumored to be hidden all throughout the world, yet only a few have actually been found. Amstaf had one of these swords. It is known for its ability to dismiss the undead. Perhaps by having this sword it'll bring you closer to finding your friend. Gather a ghoul's heart, Amstaf's Scroll, the Blade of Nobility, a noblemans hilt and place them in this [bag].'

You say, 'What bag?'

Ruathey says 'Take this bag and gather the items I've mentioned. I've been told that the Ghoul's Heart can be found in the estate of the undead, while the scroll can be found in the Keep not far from the Karanas. One of the others are rumored to be found near the dwarven city among the goblins. While the last should be found in the caverns of Najena.

For those of you who haven't figured it out, you will need to go to Butcherblock, HighKeep, Unrest, and Najena.

Your target is Crazed Ghouls in Unrest, Crazed Goblins in HighKeep and skeletons in Najena (named "a skeleton").

All the mobs that need to be killed are 25 to up to 35, and the items appear to be uncommon drops.

You combine these 4 items in the bag Ruathey gave you and You have fashioned the items together to create something new!

You are holding a Ghoulbane.

Kanthuk ogrebane
# Mar 24 2003 at 10:48 PM Rating: Default
Is kanthuk ogrebane a triggered spawn from when you get the note for him? I went north of the docks and he wasn't there. Someone told me he was a triggered spawn, and that someone despawned him. Now i'm pissed because i have to go all the way back to karana again, if he is a triggered spawn. Thanks if you take enough time to respond.

No, Kanthuk is not triggered. However, he does despawn after the turn-in, so you'll need to wait for him to repop. I'm not sure on the respawn timer, but he respawns automatically, after a set time.

After roughly 10 hours of killing everything (but the necro) on the top 2 floors, a regular ghoul in the small closet at the bottom of the left tower dropped the heart just now.

Ghouls heart and blade drops
# Mar 18 2003 at 12:22 AM Rating: Default
Just a quick note to some of you other Pallys looking for the drops. After spending a total of 6 hours on the second level looking for and killing the crazed ghouls I had just about given up and was heading back out when I got agro'd by just a plain "ghoul". Killed it and lo and behold, a "ghoul's heart".

The blade itself, was not on a "crazed goblin" but a regular "goblin" that spawned where the crazed goblins do in BB. So for those of you looking for these items, kill the regular goblins at the Crazed spawn point in BB and kill the plain ghouls on the second floor of Unrest and you might find the items you need for Ghoulbane.

Im now in Najena killing all the skellies in the zone and after about 30 or 40 of them, I have yet to find the hilt. After the deal with the other items, Im thinking about killing all the other skellies in the hope that the hilt drops from one of them.

A Walk Through
# Mar 01 2003 at 2:41 PM Rating: Excellent
Well here is a brief walk through as to how to obtain the much wanted Ghoulsbane. I was 49th when I decided to do this quest, mainly because I could never get the Item to drop in Guk or it was always camped.

The quest was much easier than I expected if you follow a planned route to complete it. A bit time consuming, but I completed it in about 12-13 hours (The hours will vary based upon your experience or the quickness of the drops. Note: If your a lower level, you will be spending a lot of time fighting mobs, so the time frame to complete this quest may increase).

The items themselves can be gotten in any order but the Quest does require that you speak to each NPC in exact order as listed above. After you speak to each NPC they will despawn making it difficult for two pallys or SKs to do this at the same time.

First, head to West Karanas to initiate the Quest. You must find Ryshon Hunsti at Location -4241,-15169. He is located by himself near the lake edge. He was pretty easy to find if you know how to use LOC (Suggest you get SOW or use Jboots as WK is a large zone).
Once you find him, HAIL him first.
Then /say "I seek the sword of nobility"
.He will then give you a note to give to Kanthuk Ogrebane.

Now, head to Highhold Keep. This was the worse part of the quest. The Amstaf Scroll drops of of the Crazed Goblins or Goblin Thief, not the Pickshaw Goblins. This place was camped heavily and all the camps were taken when I was there. I didn't want to KS all these groups just to get the Scroll, so I had to offer a bounty for rights to loot it if it dropped. Paid 100 PP to get the drop but it was worth it. I sit arround for over 6 hours split between two days. Be aware that this was the hardest item to drop for me. Once you get the Amstaf Scroll, head to Buthcherblock Mountains.

You want to go to the north docks in Butcherblock and follow fort walls (requires you to get wet), till you get around the tip heading North. Follow the coastline North till you meet a Dwarf named Kanthuk Ogrebane, Located at 2200, 3000.
HAIL him and then hand him the NOTE (given by Ryshon). Then you /say "What strange image?"
He then hands you a pendant (to be given to Llara in Dagnors Cauldron).

Your next mission is to get the Blade of Nobility, which drops off the Crazed Goblins in BB. Location is 1330, -1500. Not far from the POK book near Kaladim (dwarf city). The Crazed Goblins are very tough, so if you are 40th and below, get assistance. They pop near an old ruins and it is possible to do single pulls. Be aware that this place is camped heavily. If it is camped, just ask the PCs there if you can loot the Blade of Nobility off the corpse that drops it. The item is NO DROP, so most people will allow you to loot it freely. It dropped pretty quick for me so I didn't have a long wait here (The person hunting here allowed me to loot it).

Now head to Dagnors Cauldron (This zone is next to BB, so do some research on area before heading there. I already knew the area from previous excursions to Unrest, so I won't go into detail). Once in zone head to Unrest enterance but don't go to Unrest just yet. At the opening to Unrest (Outside), walk around to the left side and up the hill. Llara is just up the hill, Located at -1750, -950.
HAIL her. Then hand her the pendant (The one given by Kanthuk).
/say "Who is Ruathey?"
She will give you NOTE to give to Ruathey in Lavastorm.

Now go to Unrest Enterance and enter zone.
Note: I am 49th when I entered this zone, so I could solo the mobs here with no problem. If you are less than 35th Level, I suggest you get some friends to help you here. You are seeking Crazed Ghouls. They are the only creatures that drop the Ghouls Heart. There are 2 standard spawn points in this zone that I know of. One is a room, up one flight of stairs (There are many exits off this room). If you see a Crazed Ghoul in the room then you know your in the spawning room for this creature.
The other spawn point is not far from this room. It is up a small stairwell, one level above the level of the Crazed Ghoul just discussed. It is a very small room, but the Crazed Ghoul was the only creature to spawn here. I got the Ghouls heart drop, off the one in the small room. I was only here a couple of hours, but would have been here less if I had known of the 2nd Crazed Ghoul.

Once you have the Ghoul's Heart, its off to Lavastorm and the last leg of your journey. Ruathey is just a little ways to the left of the Nektulos zone line (if zoning from this point). She was very easy to find.
HAIL her. Give her the Note (The one given by Llara).
/say "What bag?"
She will then give you the Nobleman's Bag (This will be used to combine the four items, (Remember, at this point you still need the Nobleman's Hilt). Note: Make sure you have a bag slot to place the Nobleman's Bag in, otherwise you will have to make room available.

Once you have the bag, head to Najena. This is a dungeon zone located east of your location in Lavastorm. It was fairly easy to find.
Everything was green to me at 49th so I pretty much walked through this zone without being attacked. I didn't have a map, so I pretty much winged it from this point. Your mission is to find an area with a pool. Surrounding this pool area are "A Skeleton". They are the only creatures to drop the Nobleman's Hilt.
The pool area where the "A Skeleton" spawn was not very deep into the dungeon area nor far from the enterance. If you find that you keep falling into traps that leave you in a jail cell, your in the wrong area (Hehe).

Note: There was another Paladin in area Questing for same item. He had been here for sometime but was apperently in another area killing "A Skeleton" with no success. I was killing the ones by the pool and got the drop in a short period of time. I suggest you stay in the area of the pool to kill the "A Skeleton" or you may not get the drop.

After I received the Nobleman's Hilt, I placed it and the other 3 items in the Nobleman's Bag and hit combine, and WOW! I now had the Ghoulsbane Sword.

If you follow the route as outlined above, you could complete this quest quickly. Make use of the POP portals as they shortened my time getting from place to place. I started this quest later in life, but to complete my Epic, I would need the Ghoulsbane, so I decided to do it. All in all, it was a fun Quest. I hope that I was able to detail the Quest as much as possible to allow you to finish it.

Rememeber, the very first thing you need to do is initiate the Quest with Ryshon Hunsti. However, It is possible to collect all the items first and then go back and do the Quest with the NPCs. Talking to the NPC's allows you to obtain the Nobleman's Bag, which is needed to combine all the quest items.

Good Luck fellow Paladins!

Ok after 9.5hrs of camping the goblins in BB I got my first blade of nobility, however it did not come from a crazed gob, but just "a goblin."

It doesn't take a 40+ player to kill these gobs. I have camped here with my beastlord back when he was 37 and just today with my sk at 35. They are way easy for these levels.

And the drops do not take 9 hours! More like 9 kills or less. I even had 2 blade of nobility drops in a row. All together I saw three drop in a few hours.

Ok right after I got my wife's pally the drop and it did drop off a crazed (the next spawn). Got 2 scrolls in HK in about 1hr, As for the skellies in Najena, they agroed on me at 65 the only other things near the pond to do that was an ogre guard. So that should make it easier to tell the right skelly.

I loath this quest... My wife and I made 2 frog paladins with the latest expansion. I myself was PLing (leveling it too slow) in unrest and only knew of the one crazed spawn.(in the reclusive magus spawn) Killed the crazed and got 1 heart. Well a over 6 levels of constant killing I never saw another one until a friend came and explained the there are actually 5 spawn points of crazed ghouls in Unrest. One is in a small room just passed the necro (gnome) closet and one near hand spawn. After 2-3 hours of pulling all of them finally got the 2nd heart and lv 20 for both paladins. I am currently at the BB goblin camp and I have yet to see a sword. I have been killing these for 5hrs + I swear there is anti-drop code if a paladin is already in the zone. To thinkI have to do this twice...wish me luck

When I was in my mid-30's levels, I was farming ringmail from the crazed goblins for spell research. Never thought I'd be making a paladin and needing this Blade of Nobility that kept dropping. Smiley: blush

When the blade does drop, it always drops off the same goblin of the 3. Face the gravestones of the ruins. The goblin you want is the one behind and to the left of the stones. It never drops from the first spawn, but can drop any spawn randomly after that, no matter whether it's "a crazed goblin" or "a goblin".

I can also confirm the 16-minute spawn mentioned elsewhere in the posts.

Looking forward to this quest in a few levels on Rekcom Mirg, my paladin. Smiley: yippee

I picked it up last night and didn't know what it was. Just stuck it in my inventory. The server crashed (AGAIN!) so I decided to look it up and said cool! I have a pally friend who doesn't have Ghoulbane and I have 2 of the pieces for it already (Armistaf's Scroll and then the Hilt). So I come back on last night and they rolled the server back 5 minutes!!! GONE! AAAAAAARGHH!!!!

Camped there... Maybe I will get it again tonight lol. I can say that we found a_skeleton between Najina's Room and Captain.

Hope that helps!

OMG I am the luckies man in the world. My girl is a 32 pally. and I felt she really needed to sink her teeth into a quest. Her guild helped her get the heart, because not MATTER WHAT the posts say, if you are 30+ you can not go walking into unrest (or at least not two 'good' characters - a cleric and a pally) you absolutely need someone that can break a pull up. monk... chanty... etc.

then she had only one other guildie went to butherblock.and I actually used her character while she entertained guests and ate... and the blade dropped.

This is the really crazy part. I did not really do my homework with a map or anything for Najera... I just was in there. I was pretty sure that straight away was NOT the mob i needed. I went to that other section, past gates, NOTHING agroed a 32pally. or at least not hers. this is great. I round the corner and 'A SKELETON' he was pretty damn tough for a 32 (and im not totally used to a melee class) im bashing and slashing away. and he falls. I was like "damn, that was tough" ** HE HAD THE DROP!!! ** the only real mob I even tried to kill other then the terrors (I want a whip for my bard) so the only mob that agroed at 32 was the mob witht he drop. it was insane.

the ONLY thing im pissed about is. she was IN NK when i suggested the quest. we could have talked to the guy to get the note. and we walked right buy the dwarf im sure. and right by the girl in lavastorm that gives the bag. LOL. I just knew the ITEMS she needed. so... without knowing she boated back to freeport. LAUGH. she has to go through all those zones again to do the text part of it all. :( luckily she has a guild.

If you are a paladin or cleric you can go walking into unrest withoout aggro, its called invis vs. undead. I soloed the Crazed ghouls with my level 30 paladin, you can kill the 2 crazed ghoul spawns without aggroing other mobs if you are careful and keep root memmed. Good luck fellow knights!

It's hard to find people to help me quest I've noticed so I'm going to try to solo it if possible.

I already have the Ghoul's heart from when I was in unrest and someone shouted to come loot it.

So I guess I kind of cheated there. But we'll see. I'll report back when I'm done.

Well here goes nothing...

I just finished the Ghoulbane Quest with the help of a friendly 47 magician, here's my take.

As far as the beginning goes, I found Ryshon right where he should be, It was about 8AM game time. Next was Kanthuk. He is just north of docks in Kaladim along the shore. Llara is just outside of Unrest above and to the left as you face the entrance to the zone and last was Ruathy who is just inside Lavastorm. Note they all disappear after you finish that part, not sure on respawn time.

As for the drops:
Crazed Ghoul drops heart and spawns in Unrest in Reclusive Magi room, just across from the Magi. Dropped the heart pretty frequenty, placeholder is just called Ghoul.

Goblins: The blade of nobility and the Amstaf's scroll both dropped of of Goblins, not thieves, crazed or otherwise. The scroll was in HH Keep just outside the raider room. Goblin Thief spawns there too but didnt have it. The blade is at the Crazed Goblin camp in Butcherblock. Its just south of the POK port site I got mine from the Goblin who spawned all the way in the back.

Skeletons: There are 2 skeleton spawns in Najena. I was told that either may have the hilt. I looted one off the skeleton outside the pool where the froglok ghoul is found on the way to Najena's room. This was actually the longest piece to get, took about an hour, the spanw time is 20 minutes.

Combine all pieces in the bag and Whammo!! You got a Ghoulbane

Both the blade and the scroll will drop off of the crazed goblins and the regular goblins. Not sure about the goblin thieves. Got my blade from a crazed and then, two pops later, got one from a regular goblin. I camped High Keep and saw the scroll drop off of several gobbies of different varieties. =P

I only have ruathey left to find but i wanted to give some info on Llara. She is above and to the left of the tunnel entrance to Unrest. It was amazing to me how many times i went into unrest and never noticed her before. I thought she would have been the hardest to find but proved otherwise.... Anyways she is like i said above and to the left of tunnel ent to unrest.

Hey Folks,
Here is my 2cp on this sword and quest. I decided to quest it, because I thought the quest would break up my routine of "get somewhere and kill everything in sight to gain levels" routine. This it definitely did. The quest was my first major multi-zone quest, and I found it to be a lot of fun and adventure. As a note, I was level 26 when I started. I may have gotten lucky as well. All of the NPCs were up when I got to them, and all were easy to find. I did not talk to all of them first, though, and then get the items. Basically, there are four NPCs to talk to, and four items to get for the bag. The items are very close to the NPCs, if you map it all out, so I just got the item that was near the NPC when I talked to them. Here is my take on each item: The ghouls heart-I got lucky here as well. Got into Unrest, went up stairs while ITU, to the location mentioned in other threads. He was up, so I hit him. Ran downstairs and outside. Fought him for a while, was a tough fight, and got the heart on the first drop. Luckily, the zone was crowded, so I got no adds as I went downstairs. Blade of Nobility-another easy one. I hung out near the crazed gobs, while some higher levels killed them. I asked politely, and they let me loot (these gobs are still tough to me now at 29). Amstaf's scroll-drops on any non-pickclaw gob, and this was the hardest part. These are too tough to solo at the level I was, and the zone was crowded. Finally got into a group after a couple of sessions, and got the scroll after several hours of camping. The hilt of nobility-Got to Najena, it was empty (empty quite often on my server). I found a skel (plain and simple name, as noted previously) in a hallway off the room that is right before the main big room with the Najena sign. I killed him quite a few times and he finally dropped the hilt. One note, this skel is very tough for his con, and took me near death several times. I liked the exp so much in Najena, that I stayed there until 29, especially since I had my GB now. I kept soloing the "a skeleton" and his friends over and over, along with tentacle terrors. At 28, I was still gaining I full blue for every kill, along with around 4pp and an item worth 2pp. The GB doesn't proc as much as I like, but it helps. My dex was 96, and I was getting 1 proc per fight, with one time 2 procs in one fight. I have since brought my dex up to 106, and I just arrived in Unrest. I hope I can squeeze out the occasional 2 proc fight more often. Well, that is about it. A good 1hs for my level, as long as I stick to Undead. Anything else, I go to 2hs and my BABS. BTW, some of the best parts of the adventure were running through zones I had never been to before (as a dwarf I had never left Faydwer this much) and trying not to get aggroed or killed (especially in Nektulos and East Karana).

In Butcherblock off the crazed goblins that spawn to the east of the path near Kaladim. It is a rare drop and does not look like a sword, it looks like a silver baton.

From Kaladim entrance, head east along path. It will turn south and go past one block building. At the second group of block buildings along the path (now headed south), leave the path and head east a short ways. You will see a big headstone in some trees to your left. Three goblins that range in level from 30-35 are located here. Two you can see and one is in the trees behind them. They are easy to solo pull and drop good equip to sell (chainmail) and 2 or 3 pp alot of the times. They hit hard and most people snare and fear them in a group. The three rotate on a 15 min spawn so nice partner spot to fight then heal and then fight again.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your quest!

The location above is correct, Although some of the other info is a little off. First, it doesn't seem to be all that rare. I have been camping the goblins with my druid for a couple levels, and usually get 3 or 4 an hour.

Second, the goblins are not 30-35 in level. At level 26, most con even to yellow, with an occasional red. I was able to solo these with a lvl 24 druid, so they sure as heck are not lvl 35. I'm guessing that the reds are probably lvl 30 tops. More than half of them con even at 26, but have yet to see ANY blue cons.

In addition to RINGmail (only mantles and boots, from my exp) they drop fine steel daggers, and up to 4pp and change.

Some also drop cloth armor, and as low as 8cp cash, so don't expect a steady stream of 8pp loots.

Also, my strategy is just snare, root, dot (sit and med) rinse and repeat.

/agree with the level the max i feel is 31 as i got 1 yellow at 30. however the blade is a rare drop(maybe only if you are a pally) as it took me lv 28-30 to get 1 to drop.(then the wife popped in with her ranger and got 2 to drop in like 20 mins grrrrrr.)

any way good camp, easy single pulls with good loot for level. i really enjoyed it here and only died once soloing the 2 lvls it took to drop the blade. i am reasonably twinked however with 1450 hit points and a crafted velium lance 30/36 hitting for 80+ max with 23% haste at lvl 30 so i may not be a good marker for first char players

Ryshon Hunsti
# Sep 05 2002 at 11:26 AM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know how often Ryshon Hunsti spawns in West Karana? I've been to the loc posted here(neg 4241, neg 15169) off and on for the last 24 hours and have not seen him, but I thought I read he was a 24 hour spawn. Is this quest still broken from June or am I just missing him? Also, does he despawn after giving out the quest or is he on for a set amount of time? Any thoughts you can share would be appreciated.

trying to find kanthuk
# Aug 18 2002 at 7:09 PM Rating: Decent
Ok I was trying to do this quest with my paladin and deliver the note to Kanthuk Ogrebane. From the description in the quest above he should be near the dock area? I ran all over the place looking for him but to no avail. I know he might just have been on his timer or something which is fine. What I really would like to know is where this guy pops so I can find him when he does spawn. Does anyone have a location on him?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You need to get NORTH of the dock area along the shoreline. Its not plainly obvious that you can go there, at least the first time you run around BB. But, there are at least two ways to get there...

I jumped off the docks and swam past the north wall, swam to the shore and ran North until I found him.

You can also run East, out of the dock area (past the guards), and then head Northwest over the mountains, kinda near the North wall.

I am guessing most shadow knights just gank the froggy pally in guk, but I decided to go for the quest. So far it's been a cake walk nightmare of long boring and easy camps. The only problem I've encountered on this was waiting for the spawns to come up. Shoulda just ganked the froggy but that's another spawn that'd **** me off too. :P

My experience with quest
# Aug 05 2002 at 4:00 PM Rating: Decent
I finished the quest last night, with some help from my 47 Ranger. I used him to kill the skeletons in Najena (5th one dropped the hilt) and the crazed goblins in BB (3rd one, blade). The blade could've been done by my 30 Paladin himself with little trouble (although it would've hurt), but the hilt probably would've been his undoing with all the trains he would've caused. The scroll and heart were fairly quick pickups for the paladin himself, and both were accompanied by some good experience in HighKeep and Unrest.

Sure, there are better ratio 1HS weapons than the Ghoulbane out there, but under normal conditions I use 2HS anyway. This is all the 1HS I need until I can afford a Sword of the Morning. My dexterity is nothing special at 115, but even so I usually get a proc or two from the Ghoulbane per fight. And on two occasions so far, I was able to get the Ghoulbane AND Instrument of Nife to proc on the same hit. 373 points of damage. Ouch. :)

Clarification

Regarding Instrument of Nife and the Ghoulbane procing together for 373 points of damage... before your flames find me, let me clarify.

Ghoulbane: 150 damage
IoN: 223 damage (at level 30)

I didn't get one combined proc message. I got two separate ones, one for the Ghoulbane (150) and the other for IoN (223). However, I am positive hat both procs occurred in the same round. And in fairness, I would much rather NOT have them proc this way, I'd rather it be one or the other throughout the fight. (2cp)
