We have a report as of September 12, 2013, that this quest may be broken due to a dialogue loop, making it impossible to progress.
This is the quest method of obtaining Ghoulbane. It is also a drop, which is described in the Ghoulbane quest. Ryshon Hunsti is located in West Karana, on the shore in the southeast corner. Hail Ryshon Hunsti Ryshon Hunsti says, 'Hello _____. What brings you to the Karanas? Do you seek [enlightenment]? You say, 'I seek enlightenment' Ryshon Hunsti says, 'Ahh, i could see by the look in your eyes that you are looking for something more than just enlightenment. Perhaps you are looking for a [sword] crafted by a noble man. You say, 'What sword?' Ryshon Hunsti says, 'It is not just a sword friend. It is much more than that. This sword carries with it special [power], something unlike anything else within this realm.' You say, 'What power?' Ryshon Hunsti says, 'It is an instrument fashioned together by noble man. It is said to be blessed by the gods themselves. Only a man who comes from nobility may wield it. Do you seek the [sword of nobility]?' You say, 'I seek the sword of nobility' Ryshon Hunsti says, 'I see, then take this note to Kanthuk Ogrebane. I've been told he can be found fishing not far from the dwarven city.' He gives you Note to Kanthuk. Travel to Butcherblock Mountains to the boat docks. Once zoned in to Butcherblock; follow the path to the city and follow the path to the dock but on the north side. The same side you will find Walnan and Grindbar. Looking at your map; he is in between them. If you follow the wall down to the water and then follow the water line you should run into him. There is a big boat and he is standing right on the shore/water line at /loc +2202, +2996 You say, 'Hail, Kanthuk Ogrebane' Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'Hello' Hand Kanthuk the note and get some experience. Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'Ahh, I see you have spoke to Ryshon. You seem tired from your long journey. Sit with me as I tell you a tale. A tale about a true friend of mine, a great man known as [Amstaf Trunolis].' You say, ' Who is Amstaf Trunolis?' Kanthuk ogrebane says, 'Amstaf Trunolis was a good man. I've followed into [battle] many times. We've seen many of our friends die by the sword of others.' You say, 'What battle?' Kanthuk Ogrebane laughes, 'I remember the first time we charged into battle. I was so scared. My hands wouldn't stop trembling. Amstaf pulled me off to the side before the initial attack began. He held my hands within his. I saw his hands begin to glow and felt his energy pass into me. I felt [courage]. You say, 'What courage?' Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'I'll never forget what he did for me that day. He gave me the courage to continue. No one's ever done anything like that for me. I vowed that day that I'd follow him into any battle. I'd be there alongside him, no matter what. As time went on we came across an elven woman named [Ambreen]. You say, 'Who is Ambreen?' Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'Ambreen was younger than he and I. She knew of the powers of nature. She was able to control the rain which fell from the heavens and would call upon the spirits to aide her. It was obvious that Amstaf took a liking to Ambreen. She ended up coming with is on out crusades. The last I saw of Ambreen was when we went to the snow covered lands of Everfrost. We were wander the lands when a freak [snowstorm] hit us. We were seperated from one another for quite some time.' You say, 'What snowstorm?' Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'I don't know where it came from, but it was so sudden that it caught us all off guard. The snow quickly became unbearable. I tried to move to higher ground, but was unable to. I was stuck within the snowy confines. I didn't know what to do [next].' You say, 'What happened next?' Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'As I laid there my body began to slowly freeze. I knew death was near and accepted the inevitable. Suddenly I felt something clutching at my cloak. I was being dragged upwards out of the snow. A hand pressed against my chest and began to glow. I felt energy pass into my body. Do you know [how] he had saved me?' You say, 'How did he save you?' Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'He saved my life by laying his hands upon my body. A few moments later we found Ambreen lying in the snow, her body frozen by the harsh surroundings. We lifted her up off the ground and began to look for [shelter].' You say, 'What shelter?' Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'We ended up taking refuge within a deserted cabin not to far from our location. We knew that we didn't have much time left to bring life back into her body. However, the storm didn't pass through and we knew we couldn't venture to far without the fear of freezing. I warmed the cabin and rested for some time thinking about what we were going to do. It wasn't long before my exhaustion took over. I fell into a deep [slumber] that night.' You say, 'What slumber?' Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'That night I dreamt of many things. Random thoughts kept swirling around my mind. I kept seeing the image of a cloaked being and of Amstaf circled around a fire. I saw Ambreen's body convulsing above the fire as if life was being brought back to it. I don't know what happened that night. I don't even know if what i dreamt was real, but before I awoke I saw a [strange image].' You say, 'What strange image?' Kanthuk Ogrebane says, 'I saw Amstaf lower his head and walked away in silence. He was surronded by two beings carrying a torch. I don't know what it meant, but I swear it was so real. When I awoke both Amstaf and Ambreen were gone. Please find Llara and give this pendant to her. This pendant belonged to Amstaf. She too had a vision that night that may clear things up. If she asks where you got it from, mention my name.' You receive a Pendant. Next you need to find Llara. She is standing on a rock in Dagnor's Cauldron, just outside of the Estate of Unrest. Llara says 'Oh my! This belongs to Amstaf. Where did you get it? You say, 'Kanthuk gave it to me' Llara says 'I take it you're here to find out more about [Amstaf].' You say, 'Who was Amstaf?' Llara says 'I've known Amstaf since he was a child. We grew up in the same city together. Ever since I've known him there's always been something [unusual] about him.' You say, 'What was unusual?' Llara says 'When we were growing up we used to venture outside the city gates. Some times we would encounter a wandering ghoul or an undead spirit of some sort. He was always able to quickly dismiss the undead being with very little effort. I [learned] many things growing up with Amstaf.' You say, 'What did you learn?' Llara says 'Amstaf told me many things when we were younger. Once Amstaf told me that life isn't about how you get there, it's about where you end up. I miss my dear friend. Its been a long time since I've seen him. The night of the snowstorm I dreamt about him. I remember seeing Amstaf's face. I saw something I've never [seen] before.' You say, 'What did you see?' Llara says 'I saw desperation. I spoke to many people who knew Amstaf trying to find out if anyone heard anything about that night. No one knew anything about it. When I had reached the dwarven hunting grounds I ran into a woman named Walnan. She kept rambling on and on about the power of the Orb and something about Magi`kot. I didn't understand what she was saying. She didn't know anything about my situation either, but she did tell me that there were others that may be able to help me. She told me that I should find [Ruathey].' You say, 'Who is Ruathey?' Llara says 'Ruathey is known for her ability to look into people's souls and find truth. Though I wasn't able to find Amstaf, I was able to recover his sword. I believe that by having his sword I am closer to finding him. Take this note to Ruathey and tell her that I sent you. You can find Ruathey in Lavastorm Mountains, near the Nektulos Forest zoneline. You say, 'Hail Ruathey' Ruathey says 'Hello Chork .' Ruathey says 'I see that you've spoken to Llara. She too came to me looking for Amstaf. Though she wasn't able to find her friend, she was able to recover his [sword]. You say, 'What sword?' Ruathey says 'I've heard stories about a holy sword. There are many rumored to be hidden all throughout the world, yet only a few have actually been found. Amstaf had one of these swords. It is known for its ability to dismiss the undead. Perhaps by having this sword it'll bring you closer to finding your friend. Gather a ghoul's heart, Amstaf's Scroll, the Blade of Nobility, a noblemans hilt and place them in this [bag].' You say, 'What bag?' Ruathey says 'Take this bag and gather the items I've mentioned. I've been told that the Ghoul's Heart can be found in the estate of the undead, while the scroll can be found in the Keep not far from the Karanas. One of the others are rumored to be found near the dwarven city among the goblins. While the last should be found in the caverns of Najena. For those of you who haven't figured it out, you will need to go to Butcherblock, HighKeep, Unrest, and Najena. Your target is Crazed Ghouls in Unrest, Crazed Goblins in HighKeep and skeletons in Najena (named "a skeleton"). All the mobs that need to be killed are 25 to up to 35, and the items appear to be uncommon drops. You combine these 4 items in the bag Ruathey gave you and You have fashioned the items together to create something new! I have been to all NPC's, and did notice that after targeting them, it would un target them. I also all items but the Noblemans Hilt. I read somewhere, someone said just kill all of them so i did, and took too long. I came to believe that it was the "A skeleton" that dropped it, but only killed one so far... they're red to my lvl 22 paladin. But I solo'd one without LoH. Problem is I'm usually only one in zone so I cant get in a group. And the guys next door in Nektulos forest are not exactly low level like I when they're in their lvl 50's. Anyway, thanks for confirmin that it was "A skeleton" that drops them. I will find those "stairs" that you talk about ...

Well I got Ghoulbane via quest this week and I loved the it. I quested for this at level 28 and I found that a perfect level for getting the blade. However, there were some pitfalls and missing details so I thought I would try to cover them in a post. Please note that this is a spoiler so don’t read if you don’t want details.
1) Go to WK and find Ryshon. He is at 14000, -4000. Please note that he despawns so he won't always be around. He is around frequently, however, so keep checking back if he is gone.
2) Find Kunthuk Ogrebane. He is at roughly loc 2300, 3000 along the west coast in BB. Thanks to someone else on this board I had no problem talking to him. You will need to re-target him and re-ask him the question "what strange image" after "what slumber". He will despawn after he gives you the pendant. Again, he will spawn again after about 45 minutes or so.
3) Find Llara. She is at roughly -1700, -1000 just outside of the entrance to Unrest in Dagron's Cauldron. You will again need to re-target and re-ask her the question, "who is ruathey" after you ask, "what did you see". She will also de-spawn after she gives you the note but will respawn after 45 minutes or so.
4) Find Ruathey. She is just inside Lavastorm coming from the Nek entrance to the West at roughly -1400, 500. You, again will need to re-target and re-ask, "what bag" after you ask, "what sword".
5) Now, getting the stuff: the crazed ghouls in Unrest and the Ghoul Heart...get the map from EQ Atlas. It is number 5 on Estate of Unrest Manor House. They spawn about every 10 minutes and drop about the heart about 30%. Blue to level 28.
6) Crazed Goblins in High Keep and Amstaf's scroll...again EQ Atlas room 1 (called “GR” or goblin room). Spawns on multiple things in this area. Not sure exactly which placeholder drops it but it is near 50, -150 in the basement. Green or blue at level 28.
7) “A Skeleton” in Najena and the Nobleman's Hilt. Loc 76, -56 under the stairs. He spawns every 10 minutes and drops about 30%. Blue at level 28.
8) Crazed Goblins in BB and the Nobleman's Blade. Number 6 on BB map, or loc 1300, -1400. Spawn about 10 minutes, drop about 30% (see a pattern?).
Put items from number 5 though 8 in bag and combine. Please know that the fastest way is to start in WK and work your way to Unrest collecting on the way. Then there is just the final trip back to Lavastorm. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck and happy hunting!

I have been to West karana everyday for at least an hour. Shouted /shout paying pp for track of NPC Ryshon Hunsti. They either said that he wasnt there, or the ones who got tired of that question say that he hasnt spawned in over 5 hours. I rarely play over an hour at once so I cant really make sure of spawn times. I tired of running up and down by the river in West Karana as that is what the quest faq says, actually, the FAQ just says he is in west karana... THIS IS LIKE THE BIGGEST ZONE IN EQ! is he by the fish camps, bandit camps, or undead ruins, or what. Thanks for listening. I had little problem getting crazed ghouls heart in Unrest, main problem with crazed goblin in Butcherblock was slow spawn times (actually good thing since gives me time to med, about every 5 minutes, and if you not happy with loot, that fine steel or 6-8pp loot will). If you can give me an idea of where Ryshon is pls let me know

WK is a big zone and i cant find ryshon hunsti, its really hard without a track, can anyone tell me the estimate loc of where he spawns?

Does anyone know llara's faction, and how to increase it, I have got the pendant and given it to her (I think she has moved slightly to above the entrance to unrest and right a bit). But I got no dialog to get the next bit of the quest, she was indifferent to me even though I have been able to do all the bits of the quest upto there.

llara is now located just to the left of the unrest entrance if you are facing it and the dialog has to be precise if you want to do the quest. Hail her and after she answers back...only after...give her the pendant. Then she will say...oh my, this belonged to amstaff. where did you get it? After this reply back...Kanthuk gave it to me. The it will be just the usual bracketed info that you have to follow. goopd luck hope this helps.

The blade of Nobility is an uncommon drop by the crazed goblins in ButcherBlock They are at the dwarven ruins south of the dwarf newbie grounds, east of the first guard house after the newbie area, going towards crossroads. They are around lvl 30.

ok, this is out of the blue here and probably dosent relate to this quest but could someone tell me WTF to do with the enraged goblin beads i got me and some guild members got them and no clue what they are for are they the crazed goblin beads or what the cant be put on but give +1STR and has a effect of......... nothing charges of 1
Enraged beads are for a cleric quest in Kaladim.

A quest that can be done in a few hours, or at most a day on a normal server, becomes a nightmare on a PvP server such as Tallon Zek
From the perspective of a 23-level human Paladin on Tallon Zek:
The various letter deliveries weren't too tough. Giving the note to the lady in Lavastorm was iffy, but with druids to port in and out not too dangerous.
The Amstaf scroll was easy, just camp HighKeep like normal.
Same for the goblin heart--just camp Unrest like normal.
The Blade was a little tougher; BB is Dwarf territory and PKers were a constant threat. Most Dwarves won't PK humans (as we're both Light races), but some do and I had to keep a very low profile. I was fortunate and found a dead crazed goblin with the blade on it.
The Hilt, however, is another matter completely. It is DEEP in Dark territory, past lavastorm, and thanks to the nerfing of this quest the hilt doesn't drop very often. As of now I've been at after this one single component for almost a month and cannot get it; any time I go to Najena with a group we always end up in a war with the DE's and have to port out of the area.
It's a shame Verant doesn't modify the quests on the PvP servers so they weren't so impossible. Over a month for a single mid 20's weapon is rediculous. It's a shame, too, as PvP really is more fun because it adds an element of surprise that's otherwise missing--unlike on the normal sevrers, on PvP the enemies will come seek YOU out, and the zone line isn't much refuge.
I hesitate to think of how bad higher-level quests will be.

I can't find the skelley spawn in Najena. I was the only one in the zone for over 2 hours -- no skelley.

The skeleton part of the quest is wrong, the skeleton you want to kill is called "a skeleton". He is located, in the first level past the tentacle terror, and the first necros, at the top of the stairs, going down to the caverns below, just before you get to the hole in the floor. Best to clear, the path to him, as some of the green stuff, that let me alone as i went through, attacked me, after he found me and attacked.

i did commet here before but it seems to have been erased now! how that helps i dont know? re:ogrebane all i can tell you is that the info at the top is wrong the last phrase, just keep trying and you'll get it, its something like 'what was the strange image of'. re:the girl in DC her last line is bugged / wrong i tried all manner of phrases but had no luck, in the end she despawn and that was that :( on the plus side the lvl 60's that had agreed to help me by porting me etc also gave me my GB when the ruthay text bit in DC failed, so im ok! :) best of luck peeps and happy hunting! (dont be affraid to ask for help, just be sure not to nag and be polite when asking!)

just on a hunch, while waiting for a kedge event to start, iwandered into unrest and poked around the mansion, up in one of the towers i found a crazed ghoul, killed it, got a heart. not at all the extended wiat i was expecting.,

Ok I have done the quest twice and both times had trouble with the quest NPC's answering the last question. I had them targeted btw still no response. All you have to do when they fail to respond is "hail" them again and repeat the final question. It has worked everytime for me. Hope this helps someone.

I did this once for myself, and it screwed up at kanthuk, and the gms told me I was a moron. I paid my pp for a port and wasted another hour to get another scroll and try it again, and it worked. Now I tried doing it for a friend, who had been screwed by kanthuk 3 times, and LLara no longer spawns, as I logged every hour all night looking for her. The gms are all so lazy they won't help you or tell you a thing. Just don't waste your time with this quest. Unless you plan on going for your epic, ghoulbane is a weak weapon anyway (outside of unrest and lguk), get the sporali defender if you want something of comparable strength.

This quest has been smashed by Verant. Spawn times on all the mobs have been doubled or tripled. They removed a few spawn areas in both Najena and Unrest (there was a high level skelly just inside the Najena entry area, he no longer spawns and the crazed ghouls that hung out near the waterfall in Unrest are gone). The worst part is that one of the NPCs for the quest, the wood elf, Llara, is gone. She is not on the rock outside Unrest anymore. Druid could not see her in the zone, so I guess they moved her or now you must kill something to get her to spawn or whatever. I have the pendant abd all four pieces...just need to find Llara.
Nah..your druid's ability to track is just low. Get a ranger....better yet here it is.
She is just to the left of the unrest zone tunnel if you were looking into the tunnel in DC. Back amoung the rock

I have done the quest once before and am doing it again. Spawn has changed with the gobs in BB but no problem on the drop. Have run into trouble in Unrest. Spawn has completely changed. They do not spawn at all outside mansion. I went into mansion and only found ghouls, no crazed ghouls. Are they somewhere specific in the mansion or should I just keep killing the ghouls waiting for the heart to drop.
Appreciate any info.

I am a level 26 dwarven warrior on Brell, I was in Najena and the Skeleton spawned and he was white, He dropped the hilt of the nobleman. I then got some kind of scroll off the Crazeg goblins in the main room in HHK. what do i do need next? I have the not to Kanthluk and have to turn it in to him. Also as a warrior, will i be able to complete this quest?

can anyone do this ... im a 36 druid and already have the blade of nobility and this would seem like a easy quest for me .... so is it only paladin's who can do the quest ?

Hardest part for me was getting the Hilt.. took me and my Lvl 51 friend 2hrs to get the hilt. I had already had the heart, the scroll took me 5min because a kind soul let me raid a crazed goblin he had just killed and the blade took me about 20-30min. All in All a very Awesome quest
