At the end of the previous quest, Loremaster Borannin told you to ask him how you could further advance your reputation with the coldain.

You say, 'How can I further advance my reputation with the coldain?'

Loremaster Borannin says '______! Thank Brell you're here. I was about to send one of my Lorekeepers looking for you. It appears that the information Tanik acquired is most perilous indeed. The Dain has called an emergency session of the council and I must attend. We don't have the luxury of waiting for an appropriate task to arise, you must advance as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I have neither the time, nor the components to fashion the next few shawls for you. Ask Rexx Frostweaver about the prayer shawl and follow his direction carefully.'

Rexx Frostweaver may be found in the Thurgadin Exchange, near the bank.

You say, 'Hail Rexx Frostweaver'

Rexx Frostweaver says 'Hmmm, ye be one o them offlanders, don't ye? I've heard some strange tales o yer kind so don't be tryin' any funny business with me. I know the value of a platinum piece and I'll not get cheated by yer foreign coin.'

You say, 'I am here for the next prayer shawl.'

Rexx Frostweaver says 'Gather five strands of crystalline silk thread and combine them in a sewing kit to make a crystalline silk fiber. Take this container and combine a glowing shardworm bile with three of the fibers to form a piece of glowing crystalline silk. Five pieces of glowing crystalline silk sewn to your fur-lined shawl will yield a beautiful silk shawl. Become a master in the art of tailoring before risking all you've worked for and be sure to let me inspect your work when it's complete.'

You receive a Glowing Bile Soaker.

Crystalline Silk Thread is an uncommon drop from various spiders in Velketor's Labyrinth. Glowing Worm Bile is a rare drop from various shardwurms in the Great Divide. You will need at least 75 threads and 5 biles, provided you don't fail at all. Combine 5 Crystalline Silk Threads in a sewing kit or loom to craft Crystalline Silk Fiber (trivial 51). Combine 3 Crystalline Silk Fibers and a Glowing Worm Bile in the Glowing Bile Soaker to craft a Glowing Crystalline Silk Piece (no-fail). Combine 5 Glowing Crystalline Silk Pieces with your Fur-Covered Coldain Prayer Shawl in a sewing kit or loom to craft a Silk Coldain Fur Shawl (trivial 115). If you fail the final combine, you will get your Fur-Covered Coldain Prayer Shawl back.

Give the Silk Coldain Prayer Shawl to Rexx Frostweaver.

Rexx Frostweaver says 'Splendid, ______, this is beautiful workmanship! As the Grand Historian may have mentioned, our esteemed Dain Frostreaver the fourth is making some important plans with his council. These plans will doubtlessly include you if the Dain deems you worthy.'

You say, 'Am I worthy?'

Rexx Frostweaver says 'To ensure your worthiness you must continue to refine your prayer shawl. Speak with my wife Betti regarding the embroidered shawl and listen carefully to her words. Hurry now, there seems to be a sense of urgency about.'

Methinks they upped the bile drop rate with the last patch. I spent a few hours a night for a week and found none. I have gotten 3 biles in two hours over the last couple of nights.
trick for wurm biles maybe
# Jul 26 2001 at 9:40 AM Rating: Decent
ok i spent 2 days killing all the wandering wurms young and elders etc... i didnt get one single bile but then i set up camp on the back entrance of the wurm caves there is a wurm that spawns just outside the cave his pathing takes him all thru the cave and he comes back out only to repeat the process. i killed that particular wurm for 4 hours and i got all 5 biles from him he seemed to drop the bile everytime i killed him . this may have been my luck or maybe this one wurm has a higher chance of dropping biles . either way i wanted to post this just incase it was the latter. good luck on all the wurm biles and i realy hope this worked for more then just me

Anyone who wants to know more about how to raise any trade skill, for the shawl quests or otherwise, should go to www.eqtraders.com for everything you could possibly need to know about any tradeskill. It's an amazing site that is consistently updated.

As for skills overall, there is a very common misconception about what stats help, and how. But it has been confirmed by the developers on numerous occasions that either wisdom or intelligence, whichever is higher for you, is the primary stat to determine both how quickly you improve and how often you succeed at making an item. However, some skills have secondary stats that also have an effect on your improvements and successes. For smithing, the secondary stat is strength. For many other skills, dexterity is the secondary stat. Exactly which other skills are affected by dexterity is not entirely clear, but most tailors agree that it does affect tailoring. There is some disagreement about whether secondary stats affect your rate of improvement or your rate of success, or both.

SO, if you are trying to improve at a skill or to make a particular combine, your best bet is to get either wisdom or intelligence (doesn't matter which) as high as possible, and to get your dexterity (or strength, for smithing) as high as possible.

Good luck!

TAILORING!!!! ARGHHHH!!!!

As far as I can see anyone can sit in a city for a few hours and lots of PP and get all skills to nearly 200. The only skill that is hugely time consuming is tailoring. I farmed spiders in uguk and made cured silk to get to 82. My question is WHAT IS THE FASTEST WAY to get from 82 to 130 or higher? Someone wrote about crystalline silk? to 131? What do you use to get it up there? Is it the stackable thread from Velk or can you get it from CC? and how do you make silver thread? Please someone find me a fast way to get tailoring up before I go nuts.

I hate you Verant, I really hate you.

yes i posted that u can get tailoring to 131 with crystalline silk , got fed up of paying noobs 6pp a HQ and the worst making those damn bonings, so i looked through my tailoring guide and saw i could get to 131 making crystalline silk garments, so i just go down to the spiders in CC and farm em up ... silver thread is found in thurg , if u r headed from the zone to the bank , go past and take the first possible right , it will be the first building on your right after that stack of silver thread 25pp vs. stack of HQ pelts from a noob 120pp ... stack of crystalline silk quick and free and sometimes exp , depending on if queen is up to give a go at vs. stack of bonings , pp and time consuming , no exp no skill raise ... go with silk garments ... who knows u may even want to don a full suit of this stuff to fight chanters ...

hope this helps

To raise your level buy +int item to attain 150. After that you ll see your skill to progress faster. I do this with alchemy. One of my friend is mage and give me all is int stuff I can wear. I attain 153 int and succeed in gaining 5 level in alchimie in 15 try. But lot s of lacked. When I make sow potion I have 183 in WIS and I never lacked . With a WIS lower than 100 I lacked 2 time for 10 try. and I have 76 in aclhemy and SOW is trivial at 29.
You also can buy silver, gold and platinium thread in Thurgadim to Frostbear fur and leather

Good luck

I got my five wurm biles, but it took me a week to get them, and several hours hunting the things total. Tonight I got two within an hour, one from a fairly brightly glowing wurm. It does seem that these are visibly mainly at night, although this was the only one that I've ever really been able to tell before killing it. Now to raise tailoring just a tiny bit more before trying the combine.

This quest get's crappier and crappier, I camped wurms for a week and only got 1 bile, and we're suppose to get FIVE?!!!!!! what kind of crap is this, and the worse thing is there are about 8 to 10 other people you gotta compete with to get them. Geez I'm starting to wonder if this is really worth all the touble, and on top of all this I need a taloring skill of over 200??? but we can only have 1 trade skill over 200, now that blows too, what if I'm a 250 in Smithing or Jewel Craft then that mean my chances of getting the final produce (the 7th shawl) are greatly lessened? Come on Verant give us a break.

consider the end product though 7th (clarity) 8th (c2) come this shouldnt be easy , considering there is no cost , except gettiong skills up ... which is fairly inexpensive ,this is a fungi tunic for casters , only MUCH better

Wrym bile is there really any out there
# Jul 22 2001 at 2:57 PM Rating: Default
Also, killed about 40 wryms and no bile. Looked for glowing Wryms as suggested in one of the posts. Didn't see any. The drop rate might be broken? If anyone is get bile in GD, please post as i feel i am wasting my time. Tailoring skill is hard enough to master, without having to kill 200 shardwryms for the bile. Anyone disagree?
Someone told me the Bile is droping in WL. Can anyone confirm this?

The WURMS GLOW...

It is true that the glowing wurms WILL drop bile. they are random popped with the other worms. but some video cards that can't produce "dynamic lighting" will not be able to tell the difference. i have an ancient Viper 770 16mb vid card and CAN see the glowing wurms. managed to use this to get 3 bile today.

A little info for the Bile hunters. The bile carring Wurms are Very random BUT they Glow, so just find a wurm get near it and look at the hills or ground it is walking on. I ran back and for from the portal to the Back entrance to Wurm cave. I got 4 in bout an hour and half. I found my first one Behind the portal on the hill, second by Velks entrance and 2 out on the flats by the river behind the Wurm cave, all where glowing Young shardwurms. Last one was an elder at Rear entrance to the Wurm cave, but be careful the water makes the wurms appear to glow but dont be fooled, when the wurm has bile they are hard to mistake from a regualar wurm. Plus I suggest you walk up to each worm (invis of corse) cuz from a distance I thought I seen a regualar wurm but getting closer revealed the ground glowing under the wurm. Hope this helps. I dont know the trival of the silks, i started this at 160 tayloring.

ive heard that a few times but i have a mage and a cleric im working on this quest with both at same time on 2 comps seperate accounts i have been in CC queen area for 3 days bnow. i spend about 2 hours killing non stop then i split the silks evenly between my 52 cleric(98int 200wis) and my 53 mage(200INT 108 wis) we both started fresh at 0 in tailoring but my mage is now up to 94 in tailoring but my cleric is only at his low 60's one thing i do notice is my cleric fails about 50% less then my mage even though my mage has a higher skill. it has me so convinced that when i do goto make the final combine i plan on having my mages wisdom as close to 200 as possible. as for now i dont realy care because i just drop every succesful combine on the ground
this was posted as an observation not as a FACT . good luck to all you working on this quest
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 21 2001 at 10:15 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is how I have heard it works: High int helps gain skill, high Wis helps lower failiers. Your example helps to confirm this, as the high in went up in skill faster, while the high wis failed less. I'm going ot try and raise up my tailoring a bit more (at 105 now) but I do have realy high wis (I'm a druid, it's around 180 or so) I have stuff to raise it a bit more, and can get my chater friend to buff me before I make the attempt so I should be around 200 when I make the attempt. (reason I'm not wearing all the items for max wis is i have items with good effects, ES gaunts for snare, and Warder Symbol of Tuanre for free roots)

And I got back the same exact Silk Prayer Shawl.

Failed to combine
# Jul 15 2001 at 3:38 PM Rating: Decent
Only once did I fail to combine the threads with a skill of 130. But i finally get all my threads and biles.
I had my enchanter friend buff my wisdom and dexterity. I failed to make my 5th prayer shawl with these stats.
Tailoring: 130
Wisdom: 98
Dexterity: 208
I got my 4th prayer shawl back, but I am pissed off to no end.
Threads
# Jul 15 2001 at 1:46 AM Rating: Default
I spent 6hrs in velks doing spiders at zone. I looted 76 threads in that time and 1 quest gem. When silks drop you get 2-4 at a time. Working on the biles now, and I notice that they are easiest to get at night because wurms with the bile put out light like a fire beetle, so don't waste your time on the dinos not lit up. I received biles off elder and young shardwurms.

I used a coldain tanning kit for all of mine. I did have one thread combine failure, but completed the shawl in it anyway. Trivial to me at 120 skill, by the way.

it sounds to me like putting my 4th shawl in any container and clicking combine implys that there is a chance of failure and losing my 4th shawl. mebbie i misunderstood the post but if verant does indeed expect you to risk all that hard work it took to get the 4th shawl to get the 5th i think i will just keep my 4th one and go hunt for exp for a change
Update Please

No whining or complaining. somoene in case I missed it, please just say safe (or trivial) skill level in which to combine the 5 glowing silks with the 4th shawl in kit. I've heard 150s. 160 trivial, 190 trivial and alot of guessing. Anyone know for sure when to attempt this?

the trade skills you need for this quest, are really easy to get up other than tailoring, which is tedeous and boring at times. Cooking took me 45 minutes to get to skill lvl 135 with the 1 fish and 1 batwing recipe. Pottery, small bowls takes you well over one hundred skill. And as for the camping, I agree with one of you who said that you should do it on your fun time, meaning don't sit there and camp the items, get them while you hunt for fun. and as for most of the items, they can be easily baught or provided by friends..! that is if you have any hehe.

im up to the 4th quest myself and it has so far taken me only 1 day, so quit yer wining. as for passed the 8th shawl one of my friends did it in around 2 weeks. So for an item that is that sweet, 2 weeks is worth it. And that 2 weeks is only playing about an hour and a bit a day. But keep in mind most people who do this are already masters in their trade skill and have lots of help behind them to make the quest go that much faster.
