We killed Stanos twice tonight for a rogue in my guild. His head didn't drop either time. How rare is the drop? I thought it dropped every time.

Find Tani N'Mar in the Hall of Ebon Mask in Neriak Third Gate.
Tell him you "need to see Stanos" Stanos will spawn. Get 2 bottles of milk, and a 100PP. Give Eldreth him the milk, 100PP and the note from Stanos. You're Given: Scribbled Parchment Give him the Scribbled Parchment from Eldreth and receive Tattered Parchment. Then give him the Tattered Parchment and the Book of Souls. Beware Renux Herkanor spawns when you do the hand in. You'll need to talk to McBale to get Stanos to spawn again. Stanos will give you the Sealed Box. Make sure you have your box before you kill Stanos as you will take a faction hit. Talking to McBale will spawn Stanos again. This time, kill him, loot his head. You may need to kill him more then once as he doesnt always have the head. Kill him, check, if he hasnt got the head quickly zone into the Keep to lose aggro. On Stanos's Death: Your faction standing with Highpass Guards has been adjusted by -400. Your faction standing with Carson McCabe has been adjusted by -60. Your faction standing with Merchants of Highpass has been adjusted by -60. Your faction standing with Corrupt Qeynos Guards has been adjusted by -20. Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia has been adjusted by -20. Hand the box in to any of the named in the house to spawn General V`ghera. You might need to use escape to lose aggro, then go back and hide/sneak behind the General. General V`ghera says 'Life is indeed sweet! Thank you, ______, you have done me a great service this day. Take this, Stanos was kind enough to return it to me, and I have no use for it now. Know that you have the blessing of Innoruuk for this deed! But of course, I leave it to you to leave here alive. Being a little bored last night I managed to get a get a few friends and a few friends of my wife over to High Pass to ruin some faction... I mean kill Stanos. It was pretty much overkill but I got his head on the 4th or 5th Stanos and of course my wife got his head the very next try. So no, he does not drop his head every time though he does seem to be more willing to give head to the ladies... wait that came out wrong...

how long is his spawn timer?
Stanos himself doesnt have a timer, he's triggered when someone says the phrase "I need to see Stanos" to Anson McBale. As such, it is possible to spawn him as many times as you need upon demand so long as a friendly chanter mezzes and memblurs Anson for you.
Maybe Stanos dosent always have a head... =P

For the bards out there wondering how to get this you need the following:
A good rogue friend.
Thats about it. You need a good friend who is willing to repeat the rogue epic up through spawning the general. It really isn't all that hard to be honest, takes all of a few hours anymore. PP the notes, get the book of souls, and do some running around.
Now you go kill Stanos and relieve him of his head. Head down to Kith. The safest way to do this is to get your generic small raid force to clear the darkelves in the house except for one the way you normally would. Have the rogue sneak in and hand in the box and spawn the general. Now, instead of killing the general, sneak up behind him and give him Stanos' head. He goes poof, and you get a mask.
One word of caution. If you want to do this for multiple people you need someone to stay out of the Stanos fight so they can spawn Stanos by hailing Anson. Also, if you are a rogue and don't yet have your epic then you too will probably want to stay out of the Stanos fight or you are going to have some tedious (if not really difficult) faction work ahead of you.

Can anyone who has completed this tell me where you fought Stanos at? I've heard all kinds of stuff from pull him to the zone line, to if you pull him to the zone line Anson will warp across the zone to help him. I just don't have a clue, so if anyone could help me out I'd much appreciate the info.

Had about 19 peeps.. mostly rogues and bards.. Pally MT & 2 clerics... over kill. But we did kill him about 24 times in 90mins. We just had pally or bard DA pull him out of his spawn room to the next room then beat him down & got lots of heads. With those kinds of numbers ya can just chain pull him if ur looter is fast enuf on the lotto ;).
Make sure you have pre-pulled Anson to the zoneline and have someone hailing him there to keep him there. Rogue or Bard would be good cause he slowly starts to work his way back and the rogue or bard can aggro/evade(fade)/hail to get him back at zoneline. Also.. make sure that rogue isn't kos to Anson

Ok I am a Bard and I just want to get this cleared up. How do you get the general to spawn to give him the head...and If use DE illusion can you approach him easy? How do you ask the General about Stanos if you are KOS?

stanos not hard...hits hard yes...hard to kill no...killed him 3 times last nite with 2 grps and no MB wiz. just need skillz
Stanos hits 55x max, 1.6 second delay, quads, not slowable, highly resistant to cold, fire, poison, disease type spells so the group should go melee heavy. You'll need a decent tank because Stanos will do about 300-400 dps on an evasive warrior. Approx 60-70k hp.

W/O Flames and "I Thinks" What is the correct way, or best strat to kill Stanos.
From what I know he is about Vindi level difficulty.

Stanos is too high level to pickpocket even at level 65. A mob or NPC must be 5 levels lower than the rogue in order to pickpocket the item.

you don't have to be higher leve than a mob to pick items... look at Tani and Founy... picked my parchment halves at lvl 44 and the were not by any means 5 levels lower then me... i just died a lot

You can pickpocket mobs up to level 45, or 5 levels below you, whichever is higher. Up to level 50, you can pickpocket mobs up to 45. From 51-65, you can pickpocket mobs up to 46-60, respectively. Founy is 45 and Tani is 43, so both can be pickpocketed by any rogue.

there ARE mobs that you can Pickpocket thier head...
Though you can loot stuff off of mobs, stano's head is no drop. Since it is, you cannot loot it that way. you must kill. But i see where you are getting the idea, since you can PP meat offa mobs all day long

errr... if you've actually completed the rogue 1.0.. .you'd know you can pick pocket no drop items, hence why you can get your parchment pieces from the rogue guild masters.. =p
Except those are simply lore and tradable, so no.

General is boss mob fro rogue epic quest. You have to do most of the rogue epic quest to spawn him. See that quest for details.

MAGIC items cannot be picked.

There is also a level limit to the mobs you can pick. You can only PP mobs up to level 45, or your level minus 5, whichever is higher. So, until PC level limits get raised, no one is picking anything from Stanos or General V'Ghera.

NO DROP items CAN be picked. You have obviously never done the Burning Rapier Quest (Clockwork Stout is NO DROP... you have to pickpocket it)
I cannot find a screenshot of the stout on Allakhazam, but ifd you have Magelo, go in your character's inventory section, add an item and enter "clockwork". Then, choose Clockwork Oil Stout and watch the screen.

However, it does appear that any item that is NO DROP or MAGIC cannot be picked. Maybe this changes at higher levels, but at level 25 that seems to be the case. So, yes you can PP some items for a quest, but not always.

a group of friends and I killed Malka Rale down in the qeynos catacombs... she dropped stanos' head... is this the same thing? Cause I can't find any info on Malka Rale... she was pain in the butt half elf... really insane regen, con'd blue to me at 51 but still a big fight.

This is the same thing. It was a bug inadvertently introduced a few patches ago. It was fixed in the last patch. Malka no longer drops the head (and before I got one from her, dang it).
BTW, Malka Rale is the person that starts the rogue epic. Giving her the correct phrase gets you some instructions and a pouch with 20 charges of summon throwing dagger. Turning in that pouch to Anton in HHP is one of the ways to get Stanos to spawn.

OK, I was wondering if a Bard could do this? are the pickpocketed items no drop? and does bard hide/sneak work like rogues to recieve the guise? it says bard usable.... so I assume they can do it... unless verant made a mistake (lol) anyways... any high lvl bards out there try it yet? =)

i at my bardic lvl of 20 at the time went to the golden lion inn in highpass. I explored it. he is in there. he killed me... he is at the top floor in a room by himself... well does have a pet with him
/sigh ah the days when i was 20.. i am now 65 impassario with full suit of kale and a custom crown of king tormax....sigh memories

Does anyone have info on Stanos? As far as how hard he hits, his level, etc? I can't seem to find anything on him other than "kill him loot head". I heard the head does not drop everytime, also!! Erm, want to give this guy a shot. Also, does doing this quest Depop the General? Could I do my epic and get mask in same hand in?

Not sure about Stanos' level but he is hit harder than General V'ghere. Stanos quads for around 500 very fast, and you can either turn Stanos' head to General for the mask or turn it to Hans for a very nice dagger.
Doing this quest will depop the general, you need 2 boxes if you want both your epics and the mask.

The Ragebringer Does also have a Partical Effect(Hence the tern Partical Weapon its just so slight and unnoticable its very very hard to se the effect is Green poison dripping down the blade btw realize WTF yer talking about before ya run yer mouth
No effect, that anyone can notice immediately. Its more like the brief blip of green dots on the bottom edge of the blade, you have to like zoom in to see it... and this with spell and other particles set to High. Seems it only needs to be enhanced by the EQ programers for effectiveness.

It hasn't been long since I got the Mask of Deception. Then I see this new item on eqdiva.com and I must say, this quest blows my mind. For all that work...I better look like one damn fine High Elf. HAHA. Good luck to all who try.

I've done some research on this, and I'm slightly confused. According to posts on different msg boards, the general despawns after handing over the mask, but that it is possible to get the mask and still kill him in the same trip (ie, with out having to go get your box and everything again)so I have 3 questions
1)Is there an alternate way to get the general to spawn, for the purpose of turning in the mask?
2)How exactly do you turn the mask in? (I can think of several different ways, but If I go and get Stanos' head, I'd rather not ***** up and have to do it again)
3)If there is not an alternate way to get him to spawn, how would you go about turning in the head AND still kill him.

1) No, this is an alternate route of the quest, the mask is supposedly in the box and that's how he gets it back. So yes you must do it.
2) Common rogue tactic. Sneak turn-in. You can't even spawn the General without being able to do this.
3) He despawns after handing in the head. If he stood around to be off'd so you could turn in his pouch to the now decapitated Stanos you'd have a very interesting storyline. ;)
