This is the third Tunare quest. You must do the first two before you can do this one.

You say 'I am ready to become a Warden of Tunare.'

Yeolarn Bronzeleaf says 'The crate that the you recovered from the Courier contained this black candlestick that radiates an aura of great magical power. I request that you deliver the candlestick to Lady Trilani who is studying with the High Men in Erudin. Perhaps she can divine the nature of the candlestick and offer aid in defeating its power. The remaining contents of the crate have been given to Crusader Swiftmoon to be delivered to a gnome in steamfont that is purchasing them on behalf of the Eldrich Collective. When you return be sure to present your Disciple Symbol to me with anything that Trilani may ask you to deliver.'

You receive a Black Stone Candlestick. Take this to Trilani Parlone (The Mystic Cloak Quest NPC) in the Erudin Palace.

Trilani Parlone says 'I sense a great evil power in this candlestick. I will need you to concoct a divinatory aid for me before I can discern more. Take this suspension and brew it in a brew barrel with one white hellebore (dropped by Gnolls in Split Paw or SK), a pouch of the red dust created by the Fire Peak Goblin Wizards, and the caustic substance used by the werebats in Unrest.'

You receive Magical Suspension Fluid.

-- Note: The pouch of red dust seems to drop off random goblins in Solusek's Eye. It seems like every goblin has a chance of dropping it.

-- Also, all of these items are NO TRADE, and you can usually just ask people hunting in the zones to let you loot them.

Get the ingredients and brew them to craft Divinatory Concoction (trivial?); Take this back to Tilani.

Trilani Parlone performs a subtle divinatory ritual. 'This is a powerful evil indeed. The smoke from special candles crafted by the Teir'Dal and burned in this candlestick allows the creation of undead of unordinary might. The Ghasts are only one of its many possible creations. I will concoct a powder for you to take back to Yeolarn that will assist in defeating the monstrosities the candle has produced. The candlestick itself will remain here within the High Tower of Erudin for the time being.'

Can anyone clarify how I hand in the items for my third necklace?

I mix the drops from MM, Paw, Lavastorm with the fluid Trilani gave me in the barrel.. give that to her.. she gives me some powder, then I take that back to Yeolarn with my second necklace to recieve my third necklace?

Pouch of Red Dust -- After camping the Goblins and Fire Goblins in Lavastorm and also the Goblins just inside the Solusek's Eye zone enough to encumber me with coins three full times and not getting a single pouch, I'm fairly confident when I say that these items no longer drop in Lavastorm and no longer drop on the Goblins near the entrance. A nice high-level Ranger, though, helped me get past the jail, into a bedroom, where it had dropped, and let me loot it. Synopsis: You'll need a group of 30's to get this item, unless you can ask around like I did.

White Hellabore -- In spite of what some people here say, this doesn't drop in Rathe or Lake Rathetear, nor did I ever see it on any Gnoll in SK. If you wanna go into paw, again you'll need a nice group. Never fear, though, I bought one off of that merchant in the Bird tower. Whether he has this item all the time or not, I don't know.

Thick Caustic Fluid -- Mistmore is as dangerous as Crushbone was a few years ago. Mobs will run clear across the zone if you make one of its buddies angry, and there are more Dark Elves here than in Neriak. The Dark Offerer is not a static spawn -- they will spawn in the jail, in the mansion, or in the courtyard. Not only will you need a group to get this -- you'll need someone in your group who knows this zone. The danger element in this zone is not to be underestimated, which makes this zone extremely fun.

I dont see why you couldn't, but since they are no drop, why would you want to? It is a progressing quest, in which each is better than the other.
But if you have the warden, then you could go back, get the disciple, then go back and get the initiate....you could have all three....

Do you really have to do the other 2 quest?

I was just wondering if you really have to do the other 2 quests in order to get this item? Thx!

Yes!! The second quest requires the amulet from the first and the third requires the amulet from the second :(. All three quests are time sinks but are not terribly hard. The final prize IMHO is nice for the risk.

I wish ya the best on it :)
Pouch of Red Dust

Seems to drop in the NE corner of the zone (around blazing elementals, etc). Mine came off of a non-caster however, dont remember exact spawn name (I think it was a flame goblin). I'm very happy with the item.

However, this shouldn't be listed as a level 18 quest, it's more like 35 if you group, higher if you want to do it solo (and of course, lower if you have high level help).

I got the red dust in SOLA near the entrance. It came off a non-caster. Sorry I don't remember the exact name of the Goblin but it was VERY CLOSE to the entrance. You don't need a group if you don't wander too far inside. Most everything will agro you though, even the very green Gobs.

On Erudite faction, there's a necromancer by a dock in TOx forrest that you can kill to get faction with the good Erudite casters. If you can get in invis to the caster area, I think you should be fine. The NPC in question is in the enchanter's guild.

I had a brewing skill of around 5 I think and had got it on the first try. I have heard others who had zero brewing skill doing this. I think you only need all the ingredients for this. It looks like anyone can brew it though. Good luck.

Hey all I just finished this quest last night and i thought i'd share how i did. obviously my ways might not have been the best but they worked just as well.

WHITE HELLEBORE: i got these off of the two gnolls that spawn in the first room of splitpaw. there was already a group there killing them so i offered to heal and buff them in exchange for the next drop of hellebore. After the third kill 2 dropped on one gnoll.

POUCH OF RED DUST: this was by far the easiest part of the quest. as i was reading through the posts here, someone mentioned they got this off of a goblin in lava storm, not SolA. so i figured i'd try it. the goblin camp with the named necro at it was where i went. she conned green and didn't aggro so i whacked the two goblin warriors standing next to here. it dropped on the 5th goblin kill. easy as pie!

THICK CAUSTIC FLUID: this was by far the hardest part of the entire quest. with MM completely abandoned i had to find a way to solo the mobs that dropped it (they still conned blue to me). after a lot of trial and error (more error than trial lol) i got the fluid. keep in mind there are other ways to get it but this is how i did it: first invis and run to the graveyard. open the door to the crypt and walk next to the coffin. you'll fall through a hole and should be standing in a small room. walk up the hall and through the secret wall. this is the jail, 3 mobs spawn here, 1 behind each door. the door to your left is the "master door" and opens all 4 doors. the best thing about the jail is no matter what you do the mobs inside the jail cells will not come out of the jail cells. so if its not a caster, just open the door and nuke to your hearts content. if your lucky "a dark offerer" will spawn in one of the jail cells eventually. kill it and it should drop the fluid, it did for me.

thats it, then just gate over to odus and combine all 4 things in a brew barrel, give it to the girl, then back to felwithe for your reward!

Question about this quest

Do you need to have a certain skill level in brewing to do this quest?

I have no skill in brewing and it worked fine. You don't need any skill in brewing at all.

the item you get from this quest has a root effect. Has anyone used it yet, and being a low level spell, will it actually stick on high level mobs??? Want to know if this item is worth it!
thick caustic fluid
# Jul 13 2001 at 7:47 AM Rating: Default
How are people getting the thick caustic fluid? MM is completely dead, been there for about 20 hours so far and have only seen a couple of low level people... BTW i've camped the jail for hours at a time and the fluid has never dropped. People say it drops very often in the castle but how am i ever going to get in there? is there an easier way to get this item? thanks
