This quest begins with Azzar Habbib, a Heretic located in the observation area of Paineel overlooking the newbie grounds. It is attainable at indifferent faction.

Upon completing the initial "Azzar's Dreadful Hat" quest, you see this:

Azzar Habbib gasps in astonishment and says You...you..found my hat!! This is the most I can repay you but perhaps I can reward you further for some other tasks?'

You say, 'What other tasks?'

Azzar Habbib says 'I will sew you your own personal dreadful cap if you bring me the necessary components. I will need the pelt of a feared beast, some gold thread, and an imbued amber.'

These items are:

- The pelt from The Mighty Bear Paw (located deep in the Warrens).
- Gold Thread (bought from tailoring vendors for around 20pp).
- Imbued Amber (imbued by shamans or clerics of Cazic Thule).

Give him all three items and to receive your cap.

Azzar Habbib says 'I must have all the necessary components to sew you a cap!'
Azzar Habbib says 'I must have all the necessary components to sew you a cap!'
Azzar Habbib says 'Here is your dreadful cap as I have promised.'

I'm not so sure about that. He's indifferent to me, but I am not able to get the quest.

Page doesn't mention this, but amber can also be imbued by Cazic-Thule worskipping erudite clerics, 29 and higher, not just CT worshipping shamans (all iksar and most trolls).

Bravo. Well done. Very witty post. Simple, yet refined. Once again, I am confronted with a veritable fountain of eloquence.

I am trying to determine whether the person that posted this message is:

1) below the age of 12,
2) communication challenged,
3) socially impaired, or
4) a combination of the above.

I would put my money on #3.

Anyways, if anyone is on the Quellious server and would like help obtaining bearclaw's pelt (or in killing Muglwump), just send me a tell; I'd be glad to help.

Camping
# Oct 06 2001 at 12:59 PM Rating: Default
I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

This cap is what the name says "dreadfull". My Necro friend did this quest and spent much time and quite a few plat". He traveled accross the contiunant just to find someone to imbue the amder. He had a heart attck when he saw how bad the reward was for this quest. He showed it to a GM and the GM laughed and said that the was an awful quest. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone over the lvl of 10.
skip the first quest?
# Mar 22 2001 at 7:08 PM Rating: Good
Is it possible to skip the first quest and just ask the key word to the second? cause the first quest reward is usless to an Iksar, also what factions do iksars startout with to erudites?

Iksars start out KOS to Erudites. If you're a monk, this is no problem; just feign death behind Azzar, hit sneak, get up and to turn in (for either first or second quest). However since second reward is useless to monks, doubt you are one. Other option is to spend enough time in the warrens killing kobolds until you're not KOS to Paineel. Killing anything in the Warrens (excpet for bats I think) will raise Heretics faction.

Iksars are always KOS to anyone to start with. Except other iksars of course.
Iksars not ALWAYS KoS
# Mar 30 2001 at 3:52 PM Rating: Excellent
Um, wrong. My Iksar monk is considered dubiously by the Blood Sabres, the Necromancers and Shadow Knights that serve Bertoxxulus in the Qeynos Sewers, and this is sufficient to let him actually bank there. Similarly, he is only glowered at by the Dismal Rage, Freeport's Necromancer/Shadow Knight guild that serves Innoruuk (although there's a Dark-Elf Cleric that KoS him in one of the rooms, she also glowers dubiously at human members of Dismal Rage so she's clearly not a member of Dismal Rage herself).

However, this quest isn't something you particularly want to go for, excepting maybe for Faction.

I have found the same thing, the merchant at the druid rings will sell to me, after i kill the other druids..., all the centaurs are indiff to me, theres a whole bunch of npcs that do not kill iksars on sight unless you give them a reason to. But the reason i asked this question in the first place is because i am a poor necromancer and would like something other then a cloth shawl. Might as well get 10 mana....

So forget the part about iksars being KoS, the question i really wanted answered was; can i skip the first part and just do this quest.

Yes, you can; turning in Azzar's hat is not a prerequisite to this quest, you can skip it if you like.
Imbued Amber
# Mar 22 2001 at 6:37 PM Rating: Good
Besides shamans, Cazic-Thule also has clerics who can imbue amber. They are the ones level 29 and up who started in Paineel.
RE: Imbued Amber

I haven't run across a shaman who knows what to do. What do I tell a shaman to do to imbue amber? Where do I get amber to be imbued?
RE: Imbued Amber
# Jan 09 2003 at 9:55 AM Rating: Default
Amber can generally be bought from any NPC vendor selling gems.

Imbue Amber is a level 29 spell, so seek out a 29+ Shaman who worships Cazic Thule (Troll or Iksar), as Imbue Amber is a Deity specific spell. Chances are you ran across too many Barbarians who can only imbue Ivory.

Or, just head to the Bazaar. :)
Where can it be found for clerics?
# Mar 23 2001 at 6:05 PM Rating: Good
Where can this spell be found for the Erudite Clerics of Cazic-Thule?
RE: Where can it be found for clerics?

Cabilis and Grobb. When Yakatizma put in the Imbue spells, he forgot about a few groups. Like the Clerics in Paineel, and the fact that only bards worship Veeshan, and only bards and wizards worship Solusek Ro. The wizards got their imbue spell (but they have to go to Naggy's den to get it and hope the merchant is up instead of the dragon). I think the followers of Veeshan are still SOOL. Not sure if they fixed the Imbue Amber spell to let clerics scribe it. Imbue Plains Pebble was originally a CLR only spell but Karana DRUs were able to scribe it despite what the spell info box said.

Actually, there is an imbued gem for Veeshan now... fused dragon crystal. To make it you need to combine (all of these are foraged in Skyfire Mountains):

fire dragon crystal
ice dragon crystal
wind dragon crystal
earth dragon crystal

in a kiln, and you get the fused dragon crystal, trivs at 31 pottery. Note that the fused dragon crystals are stackable, but annoyingly, none of the crystal it's made out of are, so if you need a lot of fused dragon crytals, make sure you have lots of inventory space when going to SF to forage them.

Currently the only recipes this works on is the Qeynos human cultural armor (the imbued variety); using a fused dragon crystal as the imbued gem will make Veeshan imbued armor, wearable by any race of bards that can follow Veeshan (which are all of them except vah shir). Note the only human smiths can make it, and has to be made at the Qeynos cultural forge, but human, half elf, and wood elf bards can wear it (if they follow Veeshan). Fused dragon crystal as of the time I'm writing this does not currently work in imbued jewelry, imbued idols, or golden idols. This may change (I hope so!) in the future.

Imbue amber is now available in Paineel, and there are various places where the imbue fire opal spell is sold. And of course all imbue spells are available in PoK now.
This is the quest in total

The 3 items you need are the pelt from the mighty bear paw, a gold thread from the vendor in paineel, and a imbrued amber( had to goto erudin to get). Give Azzar the 3 items and you get a :

Dreadful Cap Magic Lore Cazic Head Ac2 Sta5 Mana10 Save Magic2 weight 0.4 War,Clr,Shd,Shm,Nec
Eru Tro Ogr Iks.

I hope this helps

RE: thread
# Mar 20 2001 at 4:40 PM Rating: Good
Yep the thread is definitely for sale in Paineel - can't remember what shop - think it was the Sewing shop (strangely enough, hehe)
RE: thread in Paineel
# Mar 22 2001 at 6:43 PM Rating: Good
Yes, the Erudite Tailoring Kit, the 3 metallic threads (silver, gold, and platinum), and the book On Terrorantula Silk are all sold by Pardas Nalue in Sinfully Handsome in Paineel.
RE: thread
# Mar 22 2001 at 8:59 AM Rating: Excellent

Thread is in Thurgadin

That big bear fella in the warrens drops the pelt in question for this quest. I recall on test server before it went live he would get killed and they'd give his pelt to lowbie CT worshippers for the hat quest.

What about the pelt of "The Mighty Bear Paw" in Warrens?

Sounds reasonable on the pelt not positive though. Gold thread is sold in paineel at the tailor shop. And of course find a shaman or cleric to imbue your amber. so cost if its the correct pelt would be that and about 25pp for the thread and 2.5pp for the gem and what every you pay for imbuing it. Look forward to hearing about rewards.
RE: The Pelt
# Mar 20 2001 at 2:03 AM Rating: Default
I dunno...probably a very off track thought, but if the pelt of mighty bear paw doesnt work....maybe the pelt of a fearsome creature refers to a nightmare hide dropped off a rare lvl 15 spawn in lavastorm (mayeb to far away to be related)..Never know?
RE: The Pelt
# Mar 20 2001 at 1:03 PM Rating: Default
of course it's a very off track thought, there are over 20 Lore pelts from rare spawns, it could be from any one of them. The warrens came out at just about the same time as this quest. I don't think they want you running over to lavastorm to camp a nightmare for days. Just because he used the word "fearmsome", doesn't mean you should take it literally.
