You say, 'hail an erudite prisoner'

an erudite prisoner angrily rattles his shackles and says 'Damned Kobolds!! Some day I will return and these filthy warrens will be littered with their dog faced corpses! You wouldnt happen to have a key for these shackles would you?' a captured erudite bats her eye lashes seductively. 'I would be immensely pleased if someone would free me from these shackles.'

Go and kill Jailor Mkrarrg and loot his keys and give one to the prisoner.

a captured erudite says 'I say we round up the Furballs AND the Dog Faces and let them kill each other off! Then we can easily finish off the survivors! an erudite prisoner says 'I thank you for freeing me from my dog faced captors!!

You get some experience.

I con indifferent to the "a captured kerran" in air elemental form. I hand her the key...all you get is xp and she says...

a captured kerran says, 'I thank you for freeing me from my dog faced captors!!'

She just stands around tho...

There is a little bug in warrens with Kerra (not Kehek) prisoner.

The Kerra prisoner is bugged. She KOS to evryone regardless of race/class/faction. My druid and my ranger are indiferent to Kerras in Kerra Ridge, but Kerra prisoner alwasy KOS. If give her shakle key she replies with no reward cause your faction is too low.

In case of prisoner erudites there is another bug. Erudites seem to be group banded togher with Kerran (which must a mistake on designers cause they supposed to hate each other), banded means they help each other. Just like kobold shamans will heal not omnly other kobolds but also train3d rats.

In other words if you are below dubios with erudite prisoner, but too high level to be agroed on, doing the quest (key) will agro them. I seen this happening with many KOS mobs.

In other words, if you non kos to erudites, but low enough level to be agroed by Kerran, she attacks so does Erduites who group banded with her which seem to be a bug/overlook on designers part.

Kejeks however von Indiferent to evryone

perhapse in the light of them all being prisioners they band together? .... I see what your saying, I think with my rogue, of this lvl, sneak and hide. :) and hand in the key to the furrball. I dont know I am sure If I kill a ton of kobalds and free the Eradite slaves, one fur ball will not hurt.

They probably just frenzy. The Kerran is supposedly insane, which explains why she attacks everyone on sight. She also has no faction hit. Just a monster, not a quest NPC... As for the Erudites, if you have KOS faction but want to hand in the key, I've found a workaround with my dark elf SK that works great... Or any race/class who can Hide or cast Invis/Gather Shadows, anyway. First and foremost, this won't work unless you are high enough lv for them not to aggro. Second, you can NOT try to hand them the key while hidden or invizzed. Hand the mob the item. Before clicking the "Trade" button, Hide or invis yourself, whatever your flavor. For Hide, /con the mob and make sure you con indifferent. If you don't, try again. For racial hiding it can take anywhere up to 10 tries at times, but hey -- no mana wasted, eh? After you have successfully hidden yourself/gone invisible, click "Trade" and voila... You've temporarily forged indifferent faction. This works with most any quest -- especially nifty for noobs, you can use this move to turn in rat whiskers with your dark elf after that arduous trip to Freeport.

ok now, if i was a prisoner rotting in a warrens cell the last thing i would do is attack my rescuer. so why then did not only the Kerra prisoner attack me but the Erudite ones as well? mind you, this is after i freed them! what kind of gratitude is that? is this a bug? i never harmed a Kerra in my life! is it the gnolls playing mind games with them? my int is too low to understand.

The answer is obvious. Either your faction was in the KOS range or something happened that agroed them. Did you accidently hit the "a" [attack] key while trying to converse with them before you actually pressed the enter key to set up your chat window to accept your input? What race are you? I see that you are a 10th level warrior, but which god do you worship?

The wrong answer to any of these questions might cause them to attack you.

I had figured the Kerran prisoner must be either a heretic-converted kerran, or kobold-converted Kerran there to spy on the prisoners. After having completed many kerran quests, I have decent faction with them. The two Erudites in the same cell are indifferent to me, telling me they're not heretics but are from Erudin. I wonder if an enchanter could get good enough faction for the kerran prisoner to respond positively to being freed..?

In any case, it seems to me that things here were left undone. Freeing the different prisoners ought to give factions just like it does in Crushbone. Anyone know the email address for sending in info on bugs to be corrected?

Ok...was in warrens last night with my 20th lvl woodelf druid of tunare...the Kejerans of which thier are 3 in a prison are not KOS to me...in fact I hailed all 3 of them and they all go on to speak of how they are diffrent from the usual kerrans and are peacefull...they are worried about proveing themselves to the rest of the world as good creatures.
Strangly enough they dont seem to be worred or even hint at the fact that thier prisonors of the kobolds...of which im sure all 3 could band toghether and escape, one conned blue to me...IMHO these Mobs are here as part of a quest that hasnt been implemented...they are probably kerrans from Lucin ;?)
What do you do with the charred bone key?

I killed one of those captured kejeans in the other cell. It dropped a cold iron shackle and a charred bone key. Anyone know what the key is for?
new quest?

this is the wrong place probably . I found an erudin traveler at far end of the lake past surefall glades entrance. Past the docks at the very end of the lake. He conned as monster so killed him and he dropped three no drop items..a couriers head,a crate of ore and a letter from evunil .I cant find any reference to these items so far. Quests and zones are so huge i probably just didnt look in the right place. any help would be appreciated and if its a new quest ,good luck at solving it :)

Unless you are an Erudite SK don't bother. This is the quest for Leggings of Riddosan given by Royal Guard Shetuin in Paineel near the Overlord. Thanks for the info, MY Erudite Sk really appreciates the loc on that Traveller.

BTW that is only half of the quest if you're interested: You must kill the guy that sent the note (Eruch(sp?) in Everfrost and return his head also.
Try that!

I am an erudite necro, not liked by the kerran prisoner, but the first time i hailed all the 6 prisoners, only 3 would ask for a key, the kerran and the 2 erudite. Then i proceeded to kill the jailmaster, who dropped (i think by chance, but who knows?) 3 keys. I tried to give a key to every prisoner who asked, but the kerran scuffled at me. So i decided to kill him for refusing such an opportunity, along with the 3 other cats who are ready to attack to me too...but i am rambling now. What i mean is, has anyone, not kos to all those 3 prisoner, give a key to each in short order? That could be an idea, like a multi-step quest (another like this is the quest done in freeport with Janam and Rebby and their countreparts in the sewers, you get exp along the way but complete the quest with faction only after the last passage).

I am 16 lvl Ranger of Tunare, conned indifferent to each, gave each key in rapid succession. After starting cat and female erudite attacked. Did this twice. The male never attacked.
In addition if you rest in their cell before giving the keys, the cat and female attack as well, though not conned as enemies. indifferent I believe.
BTW gave keys to all 3 in a hurry on way out for xp
anyway.
If you release them, they will chase you (or me, anyway) to zone. too weak to take them on.
They cast drowsy, sicken and disease. Those sound like heretic spells to me.

No faction changes
# Mar 19 2001 at 10:47 AM Rating: Decent
There were no faction changes for turning in the keys to either of the Erudite prisoners.
RE: No faction changes
# Mar 22 2001 at 10:05 AM Rating: Default
Proably there is no faction change, because either good or evil erudites could do the quest. It would be better if one of the prisoners was evil and one was good. Through talking to them they should reveal their alignment. Might be nice if they casted a buff or a heal on you.

I spent awhile killing the Jailer, and saved up 16 keys. At level 13, turning in 16 keys provided no visible movement of my blue experience bar.

I'm not complaining, just reporting my observation.
Do you get any faction?

No faction, no money. Just a little bit of experience. But like the other guy said, you only have to walk about 30 feet to free the prisoners. What did you expect?
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 16 2001 at 7:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hehe well maybe they would tell you some secrets about the zone if there is one since they have been a prisoner, or maybe give you a resapy for some sort of food or knobal leather armor:-D;-)
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 16 2001 at 11:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i think ya mean "recipe" there pal :P

Yes but you were being critical with out making any mistakes.
Thats it?
# Mar 16 2001 at 5:41 PM Rating: Default
You'd better get alot of exp for that... Thats weak
Maybe there is a nice faction adjustment?
What were you expecting?
# Mar 16 2001 at 7:33 PM Rating: Good
Its a zone where the only people doing this quest will likely be somewhere around 9-15. Not to mention that its done in the same zone, so its bonus exp (Kill the jailer, saunter over to the prison, give up te key).

Plus, its a prisoner for crying out loud, what exactly do you expect them to have that they could give you?
RE: What were you expecting?
# Mar 21 2001 at 11:32 AM Rating: Default
I expected them to give a second or third level necro spell. They could dictate it from memory since all their possessions had been confiscated by kobolds. Either that, or directions to a real quest.

#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 31 2001 at 2:06 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yep, that makes sense. Just as a level 8 necro PC can sell a level 4 spell he memmorized. Good thinking there.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 18 2001 at 1:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) and if you did "get some" wouldn't that be worth experience to?
RE: What were you expecting?

Well.. when that one batted her eyelashes at me I fiqured hey, save the chick, get some.. or something?
RE: What were you expecting?
# Mar 17 2001 at 1:31 PM Rating: Decent
Well... what do you expect?

It takes alot less brain power to complain than it does to think...

So people complain first, think later.

Umm...people talking about "getting some" in a video game?? Is it just me, or is that the end all of losers??
