    You say, 'Hail, Lord Prismwing'

Lord Prismwing flutters his wings rapidly sending shimmering dust through the air around you. Although he speaks in high pitched chirps you somehow understand his meaning. Hello ______, I am the Count of the Tunarean Drixies. Are you a friend of the Tunarean Court?

You say, 'I am a friend of the Tunarean Court.'

Lord Prismwing says 'I am in need of some help. One of my heralds was sent to deliver a message to the Othmir in the Cobalt Scar some time ago and has not returned. I fear for his safety, if your travels should lead you in that direction please attempt to find news of my missing herald.'

Head to Cobalt Scar and kill a wyvern named Yvolcarn (52nd level warrior type, summons, regular wyverns are his PHs). Loot the Drixie Remains off him. Note that killing him carries the usual Claws of Veeshan faction hits (-CoV, -Yelinak, +Kromzek).

Give the remains to Prismwing and receive a Crest of the Drixie.

Lord Prismwing says 'This is sad news you have returned to the court, but now his body may be laid to rest in the soil of Tunares land.'
Your faction standing with Tunarean Court has been adjusted by 10.
    You gain experience!!

    Beastlords?
    # Sep 13 2004 at 8:06 AM Rating: Excellent
I'm sure I'll get eaten alive for a stupid question.....but why does it say Beastlords? It seems like it's only for Druids and Rangers.
    why Bother?
    # May 27 2004 at 11:23 AM Rating: Default
Why bother to go thru ALL that work? (unless your not a druid, sham or cleric). If you going to do that long quest, why not just go to GE and take down the mini-named ones and loot this https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=23044 It's pretty common. I've looted one for my druid, my sham and my cleic. Seems much easier than doing the quest and it's an overall much better ring.

OK, tried to find him for about 3 weeks now. Finally after last Server Crash I got back on and checked again, He was up... Just west of the Dragon Protal. LOC was -3073 x -2327. Followed him around a bit and he never left the area in that little cove where the portal was.
    DOES NOT SUMMON
    # Feb 10 2004 at 3:55 AM Rating: Decent
But he sure in heck runs... Just have your dots up and sow, or wolf form and watch out for drakes.........Run, dot, run!!!!!!! you'll get him!!!!!!!!!

Well I just soloed this guy when he aggroed on my quad kite. Just need to use your horse the right way for mana, takes a while to drop him. Used a 55 druid fyi.
    Small Correction re: Yvolcarn
    # Dec 22 2003 at 5:43 PM Rating: Decent
Yvolcarn does not summon, contrary to the above quest description.

He can not be rooted or snared, but can be stunned. He is relatively immune to cold-based nukes... but magic (lightning) and fire-based ones land just fine (same as with most western Velious mobs). It is not necessary to tash or malo him if your level is high enough... might wish to SLOW him however, if you plan on having anyone actually tank him. His melee attacks are fast and furious... warrior class, dual wields and double attacks, hits for about 140~ish per pop (nearly 600 total per "round"), and seems to be naturally hasted (as do all wyverns). Not a guy to underestimate... I have seen him drop lvl 65 melee types on quite a few occasions. He also has decent regen, and something like 12K hp's.

For a few more tips on Yvolcarn, see my post under his subject.

Yes, this quest does work. It is only 1 part of a multi-part quest. This paticular item has no stats. You must combine this item with the others to get the final item, which you can view here...

Myself (52 SK) and a 51 Druid friend killed this mob twice yesterday. A few things of note; This mob is NOT snareable, but IS fearable. We stuck a few fears on him and chased him around with me beating him down and Druid doting him. Simple keep fear applied and go to work. Has a ton of HP's but not a hard fight if you can keep up with him when he is running in fear.

There is no set LOC for Lord Prismwing. I have most often seen him near the dragon ring porting into WL, but I haev also seen him near the Sifaye town.

    Hints on Ycolvarn
    # Jun 02 2002 at 3:31 PM Rating: Default
Just a little hint for those who aren't accostomed to hunting in Cobalt Scar. I highly reccomend you pull Ycolvarn down to the beach to kill him. Azureake really does not take kindly to you killing her friend and her 500 damage AoE wiped out our little hunting party in a matter of seconds. Ycolvarn himself isn't that bad until you have a cobalt drake and Azureake (named cobalt drake) helping him. After rezzes and recouperating, we took him down the second time.

    HI :)
As a 47th Bard i believe this to be my Greatest achievment it took me about 3 sow potions and 4 near deaths to take down this 52 mob. I had him down to 10 percent health twice and he gatted and by the time i got back too him he was almost 2/3 health, so the third time i brought him back to his spawn spot and charmed a wyvern to help me finish him off. I can say his cr is better than his mr and fr if that isn't to obvious hope it helps. I used the bard 3 dots cold wasn't working well resisted about 90percent of the time, fire about 50 percent of the time and fufils'sresisted about 25 percent of the time. As far as loot i got a drixie remains a wyvern meat and an uber 5 sp. :) thanks for reading my tale :)

    # Dec 31 2001 at 7:28 PM Rating: Default
The faction hit on Yvolcarn isn't that bad. I killed him the other day and the qualitative description of my faction was unchanged (amiable before and after the slaying).

Just kill him, unless you're borderline KOS and don't want to cross that threshold.

Needed roughly 6 kills (or rather participation on kills ) on giants in Kael to re-maximize my CoV faction, so its actually very easy ( If you raid Kael once or twice a month ...) to compensate the Yvolcarn faction hit.

My group of 45 Mage, 40 druid, 50 chanter, 45 wiz, and 49 druid killed this guy this week. We feared him and put the pet on his backside. He is immune to snare and root so you have to be careful but we were all SOWed. He went down without much of a fight and did not summon anything. He did drop the remains. I got them and I'm going to try to find the other half of this. Anyone have an idea of what the item is that you get back?

    CoV vs. Tunarean Faction
    # Sep 10 2001 at 3:40 PM Rating: Default
Well, if ya follow the story line, the Ring of Scale actually tricked Firiona Vie into voluntarily giving up her memories of her youth. At which point, Mother Tunare vowed that the Ring of Scale would pay for their actions. The idea of becoming a friend of the Tunearean Court and also of Ring of Scale just doesn't fit into the s tory line.

although hell, there are lots of quests to up CoV faction, while not that many for Tunare...So just get your sweet Court ring, then go traitor and re-up whatever minor faction hit you might have taken from killing Yvolcarn.
    RE: CoV vs. Tunarean Faction
    # Oct 26 2001 at 12:33 AM Rating: Good
Actually, the Ring of Scale and the Claws of Veeshan are not the same thing. In fact, they're idealogically opposing factions, though most mobs that affect one don't affect the other. The Claws of Veeshan are the Dragons (and minions) of Skyshrine who follow Veeshan's commandments regarding staying apart from the other races and not meddling in their affairs. The Ring of Scale, on the other hand, are devoted to doing said meddling (same thing we do every night, Pinky, try to take over the world!)

The Claws of Veeshan consider the Ring of Scale to be a nest of outcasts-- betraying the great Mother's comandments. Not exactly traitors, as those who have left the fold are generally welcome back in, but heretics of a sort, and not well thought of.

Of course, the Claws don't think much of the Tunareans. They're neither allied nor opposed, but rather I don't think they know much about them at all. So accidents will happen, and occassionally messengers will look quite tasty...

Also realize that Naggy and Vox are imprisoned due to there actions while in the Ring of Scale.

    # Aug 24 2001 at 12:23 AM Rating: Default
You can't root or snare Yvolcarn. I have spent levels 44 to 53 there and once in a while I accidently try to snare or root him...he looks like all the Wyverns. His speed cannot under any circumstance be changed. Hire a local Necro to fear and beat it...doesn't take long, and for 100pp most of them are happy to.

#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 16 2001 at 4:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OK, to CLEAR this crap up, he's a menace, he IS SNARABLE AND ROOTABLE, but both are rather pointless if SOLO'ING, BECAUSE YOU CAN'T UNLESS YOU CAN FEAR. Then Snare is effective. He SUMMONS. If you can't fear ( and all you Druids out there this is meant for you ), NOT blind, then don't do it. Even if he's blind he can still summon you, ONLY way is to fear him. He hits HARD and VERY FAST. Be careful out there.
    Curious...
    # Aug 04 2001 at 10:33 AM Rating: Default
Has anyone tried giving Yvolcarn the regurgatonic that's used in a couple of other quests to see if you can get the drixie remains that way? I'd try it myself, but my Skyshrine faction still sucks, and Yvolcarn would eat me. :p
