This quest was formerly given out by Sentry Emil, who may very well be extinct at this time. Liason Dolvak is located at +800, -620, +45.

You say, 'Hail, Liason Dolvak'

Liason Dolvak says 'You have pervaded the inner core of the shrine, what brings your corporeal essence this far? Seek you to prove your worth to the lord and his kin?'

You say, 'I seek to prove my worth.'

Liason Dolvak says 'So it shall be then that you will perform a task for the kin. As it happens, I was on a mission to speak with a [contact] of the shrine in the lands that do not sleep. This contact has vital information on the movements of the giants in that region and it is most important that we recover that information. Unfortunately, I have been called away on duty to further bolster our defenses and will not be able to meet with her.'

You say, 'What contact?'

Liason Dolvak says 'Her name is Eysa Florawhisper. She is a Countess from the Tunarean Court, of whom we are allied with in this fight against the giants. The court does not want the giants encroaching on the lands of Tunare, for they fear that the giants will cause great harm to the area, should they be allowed to control it. As you can see, this gives us a common enemy, which has forged an even stronger alliance between our two peoples. If you can deliver this report to her in my stead, she will give you the documents we need.'

You say, 'I can deliver this report to her.'

Liason Dolvak says 'Good. This report outlines the concerns of the shrine and where we stand in our efforts to raze the city of Kael. She should give you an in depth report of the efforts of the Court to date and will allow us to further organize our raids and defenses accordingly. Make haste with this assignment, for we do not know exactly when they will attack next.'

You receive "Note to Tunare's Court."

Go to Wakening Lands, -940,-1700.

You say, 'Hail, Eysa Florawhisper'

Eysa Florawhisper says 'A pleasure to meet you. I am Countess Eysa Florawhisper of the Tunarean Court. Are you a friend of the court?'

Just give her the "Note to Tunare's Court", and ignore her prompt, which is for a different quest.

Eysa Florawhisper looks over the report you have given her. She glances up at you with a suspicious eye, as though she doesn't fully trust you. 'I was supposed to meet with Dolvak on this matter, as he is the liason between the shrine and the court. Instead he sent you with this report? I guess I have no choice but to trust you are a friend of the shrine, as the seal bears its mark on this parchment. These papers show the Tunarean Court's progress with the giants so far. Do you have any idea why this report is so important?'

Your faction standing with Tunarean Court has been adjusted by 10.
You gain experience!!

You receive "Eysa's Token."

Eysa despawns.

Go back to Liason Dolvak in Skyshrine and give him Eysa's Token.

Liason Dolvak says 'Ah, excellent. You've returned with the papers we needed. There is some rather interesting information here that I'm sure the council will be glad to have in their possession, and it will allow for our further fortification against the giants. You have proven yourself to be an honorable ally and a friend to the shrine and we thank you for it. I cannot offer you much for this but in time, your actions may prove to be invaluable to the shrine and its kin.'

Your faction standing with Claws of Veeshan got better.
Your faction standing with Yelinak got better.
Your faction standing with Kromzek got worse.
You gain experience!!
You receive 10 copper from Liason Dolvak.
You receive 8 silver from Liason Dolvak.
You receive 8 gold from Liason Dolvak.
You receive 4 platinum from Liason Dolvak.

Liason Dolvak despawns.

They did that because certain guilds (who I will not name) were training Emil to the WL zone line, and Eysa to the SS zone line to speed quest for faction.

That alone wasn't the real problem, but many dark races/classes are KoS to Eysa, and were getting stomped trying to zone into or out of SS.

Is this broken i try to do this quest but the mob has changed. There is a mob named !Esya Florawhisper in the spot. I try to give the note He said thank you for the note, nothing happend. I killed him no faction hit but he respawned. is he a place holder or did they nerf this quest?

Easy with a tracker but she generally spawns midway from dragon ring and PoG , she's also a part of the ring of tunareian friendship quest, her faction hit is PoG related. Very long quest but sweet ring if your a tunare follower and can wear. ac str (10 wis) dun remember offhand if there r more stats.

Question - I've been reading all of these various facton bugs - I have screwed up my Coldain faction a bit, but am now dubious to SS. If I were to do this quest, apparently it would reset my SS faction to dubious (same as it is now) - but would it reset my Coldain faction to dubious as well?

From reading these posts it seems that VI need to alter the faction tables to enable people to better build up Yelinak faction. If Killing in Skyshrine hurts Claws and Yelinak, then killing opposing mobs in Kael (or somewhere else) should regain it. Simple as that.

Like many others will have done when Velious first came out, I spent a few days in Skyshrine with my guild, happily gaining exp (upper 30s at the time) with my druid as they collected Guardian Armour. I had no idea that the horrible looking dudes in Skyshrine might be friendly.

To make it so that I need to spend the next 6 months of EQ playing time doing a quest to repair damage I did in under a week by killing seems ridiculous. They should bring back the pie quest if they dont have mobs to kill that will raise Yelinak.
RE: Damnation
# Aug 14 2001 at 1:20 AM Rating: Decent
So, you went and hunted stuff without knowing who or what they where.

You got good xp, and good loot.

You also got good kael faction.

Try doing harder, higher-level quests. Perhaps kill King Tormax. Elder dragons have long memories. And remember, Yelinak faction isn't +that+ imporant until the higher levels.
RE: Damnation
# Jul 24 2001 at 1:08 PM Rating: Default
Getting Claws of Veeshan faction is rediculously easy. Get a good Kael Arena group (or deeper I'm sure) and plop down and hunt. I spent 8 hours there and went from scowled at by CoV to dubious. Not hard at all. Plus, you get drops for Thurgadin quests, and exp if you single group it.
RE: Damnation
# Oct 30 2001 at 5:34 PM Rating: Default
Another easy way to improve Claws of Veeshan faction is to hunt in Great Divide, killing low level Frost Giant Scouts, and the Drakkel Dire Wolves.

The best place to set up is on the hills overlooking the Wizard Spires near the EW zone. This location also provides a quick way to get out of trouble if something goes wrong.

You also get positive faction bumps with the Coldain in Thurgadin.

A friend (37 Wizard) and I (39 Druid) started out "Apprehensive" in Thurgadin. After several hours hunting the giants and wolves, we were "Indifferent".

We repeated the process on Day 2 and were up to "Amiable", and both of us leveled.

By Day 3, a slower hunting day, we were up to "Kindly" in Thurgadin, and my friend had leveled again to 39. I was in hell at 40, but got two yellow bubbles by the end of the third day.

So, if the CoV faction parallels the Coldain faction, ie: it takes the same amount of increases to get from apprehensive to indifferent to amiable to kindly, then this may be easier than hunting in Kael.
RE: Damnation
# Feb 23 2002 at 1:38 PM Rating: Default
CoV faction is harder to get then the Thurgadain faction, but Kael by far is the hardest to raise. I suggest you get your guild to go hunt in Kael or just go to GD and AE about 20 mob's to get some sick Faction =). My guild was on Kael faction, then we reformed and have a new leader, we are switching to CoV and have Arena raids going on for faction and for some BPs/Leggings. Stay about 5-7 hours killing named and the normal pops. Get some great exp and faction and I just got new leather leggings!

Fixxing faction.
# Jul 23 2001 at 11:29 AM Rating: Default
Ok. I've done faction fixxing with KoS mobs. It can be done. You need a druid and someone who can cast invis other then yourself.

Druid casts harmony on her you then put the thing in trade window with her. Have your friend invis you while item still in trade window. Once invised click trade. It makes you indifferant and you get faction for it.

But if you are KoS do not get to close to her even after harmony. She can still attack.

Quick question, as I am interested in doing this quest for Yelinak faction--have they fixed the bug yet? I do not want to ruin my faction that I have already built up. Does anyone know?
RE: Have they fixed bug?
# Jul 06 2001 at 1:15 AM Rating: Default
the chances you will have your faction reset are slim to none...had this happen to a friend doing quests out of surefall glades back when conning messages were on 2 lines instead of one. I think it has a chance of happening any time you zone...just people who are doing this quest all day are zoning hundreads of times a day so it's more likely to happen to them than anyone else(also the people who arn't doing this quest really have no place to say this happened like you guys do other than the EQ boards so you really don't hear about it).
don't look for this bug to be fixed soon...it is so rare it's extremely hard to track down.

Faction Reset Bug!

ARG! It's happened to me too! I have yet to get a hold of the lead gm on my server, but from what the guides I've talked to have said it sounds bad. I may be in the "sorry, you'll just have to live with it" boat.

Did it happen to everyone while zoning into Skyshrine?

Warning Followup
# Apr 25 2001 at 11:06 AM Rating: Decent
On 4/23 at 6pm central on the Brell server, my character encountered a bug in the Skyshrine zone which reset all of my faction in all game zones to starting default levels.

My character, Cozgrove, had worked for months specifically to build up positive faction on several zones to Kindly or better--this includes Skyshrine. I had just completed the Emil's Report quest, as I had done many, many times, and was suddenly KOS to Skyshrine when I gated back to that zone. I checked many other factions on other continents to discover it had happened everywhere. All I had worked for was simply gone.

I have since learned that this is not an isolated incident. There is a post in this very thread that speaks of this happening to someone. Just last night, it happend to another character I know--Dreamflayer. I'm guessing that it's been happening a lot.

What is more distressing is that when I was finally able to speak to Brell GM Oribi, I found her to be polite but of no help whatsoever. I was assured that absolutely nothing can be done. I was told that nobody has the power or authority to alter faction in any way regardless of circumstance. I was told that my character could not simply be reset to a point prior to the bug having occured. I was told that there was absolutely nobody I could appeal to. Can this be true?

After a year and a half of being a loyal subscriber with TWO accounts and a combined play time approaching 200 days...THIS is good customer service?

I have reported the bug, as I assume others have, but I will also be posting to as many other sites as I can find to try and discover how often this has been happening, when it's been happening, whether or not it was reported, and how it was resolved.

Did the player who posted about this bug report it? Oribi says it is not a known bug and hasn't been reported anywhere. What about the player with the guildmates that were victims?

I would still love to simply have what I worked very hard for returned to me. I'm not asking for *extra* faction...only what I had before a programmer's bug unjustly took it away. Thanks for taking a look.

I will have to second(or third or. etc ) this warning.

I had the same problem happen on Xegony.

Was an ally in Skyshrine (mostly from Kael, mind you), decided to quest this one night by binding in Skyshrine, well boom, ALL FACTION reset :(.

Main GM told me nothing they can do, I was very polite, and just said thanks for the help .. :(

Yes, I am not KOS to dorfs in BB anymore, but that's small consolation, now that i have to catch up to my guildmates who are all warmly or ally to CoV.

So be very very careful when doing this quest.. (

# May 08 2001 at 12:06 PM Rating: Default
Yes this is a long standing bug. Yes, the GM team AND the programming team know about it. I was lucky enough to get EXCELLENT support from the GM on E Marr when this happened to me and was able to get a restore to a previous backup (they keep quite a few days so its not hard). There is always a chance that the restore can trash your character and you can lose MORE exp or items, but it worked well for me.

I also forwarded an activity log and email to the GM who passed it on to the programming team. Apparently they still haven't located the problem though.

Verant is doing a fine job on Customer Service. Just like anything else, the communication between dozens of CS reps, GMs, and guides is variable. Be articulate and polite and eventually you'll get helped. It took me 9 days to straighten my issue out.

Hey, i have gotten the same lines out of many GM's even server GM's on certain facts, they DONT know what they are talking about. YOu can get almost anything done, they just arent authorized to do it, i had a petition once that lasted 5 hours and was told that my corpse was too old even for GM to res, by the server GM i sent e-mail to cust serv and the head of cust service was able to restore lost exp on it. Try a very very well written e-mail without flaming and see what happens, its your best chance

I too am working on this quest, that is when I can get Emil to give the quest and before he is killed. I am bound where Emil spawns and have WL port up to go to Elysa. I have been successful once, that is all. I think it's rediculous of Verant to place this faction quest that so many need on an npc that is continously hunted. I am dubious and the best thing I can figure out is continue to kill more giants and hope that helps with faction and pray teh "right" Emil will spawn when I am there :( Verant, this is disappointing to us!

I was doing this quest, had it set up up to do the quick way and did it about 5 or 6 times. Then all of the sudden I zoned into SS and was KoS, I have been amiable for quite some time to CoV faction. I went to from Aimable to Scowls in one trip back and forth into zone. I was told it will have to be submited as a bug, but meanwhile all my CoV faction is gone. Have only heard from a guide, still waiting from a responce a GM. Just wanted to warn others and maybe hear if this has happened to anyone else

aye, this is a bug that happen to lot of my guild mates, the best bet is to wait till it says your character is saved before you zone.

side note:This resets ALL your faction tables, so for you gnome killers out there, this is a cheap way to reset bad faction.
Best way to do it.
# Mar 30 2001 at 5:22 PM Rating: Good
If you want to do this quest multiple times, best way to do it is as follows:

You will need about 3 people doing it at the same time. Pull Eysa to the skyshrine zone and have someone else hail her, zone over and grab sentry emil and pull him to zone too. Now all you have to do is zone back and forth. Zone over to Sentry and make a hot key that says 'i am interested in proving my worth' just hit the hot key, he will give you the message in bottle, zone over give it to Eysa, she will give you token, hail her once to keep her there. Then zone back and give token back to emil. I had an inventory hot key set up too so you could just grab it and hand it to him.

Once you hand it to him and get exp/faction hit the hot key and do it again.

This is excellent experience and faction. I literally got 3 yellow bubbles in lvl 52 in 6 hours doing this quest, and went from dubious to indifferent.

ENJOY

Yes, and that's also an exploit that will get you in hot water with GM's should they see you doing it. Its the same thing as when halfing newbies used to pull the turnip lady to the deputy guy and do the turnip quest over and over and over

3 bubs in 6 hours, that's a level in 10 hours, 8 levels to go, that would make 80 hours. prolly 100 hours since next levels will require more xp. I can play about 3 hours an evening max, so Im talking 35 wasted evenings here. Yes, I think I'm ready now to cancel my subscription.

How to keep Emil alive?
# Mar 05 2001 at 3:06 AM Rating: Default
I sat and timed Emil's spawn rate at 31 minutes and then began checking back at each spawn. 8 times in a row he was not giving the Eysa quest. Then finally as he gives it this group shows up. I explain to them my situation and they say too bad, they ran too far and they can't camp anywhere else, blah blah blah. The fact I've been waiting 4 hours is "not their problem".

So I'm wondering, has anyone found a place to pull the correct Emil to where he'll get stuck and the people hunting around Ziglark won't find him? I need to do this quest like hundreds of times to get Yelinak faction up and it's driving me crazy because I can't get people to leave the correct version of him up. In my experience, the Eysa quest version of him is very rare.

Also, I'm wondering if his respawn time is actually 15.5 minutes instead of 31? Because the hunters were insisting the spawn time was 13 mins saying they'd hunted there for days. I waited over 13 mins (I think it was probably over 15.5 mins too but can't be sure) and didn't see him pop again though so I think they're wrong.
RE: How to keep Emil alive?
# Mar 07 2001 at 7:50 PM Rating: Default
Nope, he's on an approximately 30 minute timer. I've killed him many times in a row as well trying to get the delivery quest, and it seems on the rare occasions that I get him to spawn with this quest, someone comes along and kills him.

It's typical Verant stupidity to put a quest like this on a mob that most would rather see dead than alive.

Emil Broken?
# Feb 23 2001 at 2:08 AM Rating: Default
Last night I got the report quest twice from Emil, didnt finish last one, because, of course...somebody was killing Emil when I came back. So I went back today and gave him Eysas token, got the XP, faction raise and coin, tried the keywords again and he ignored me. So I hailed him, and got the messages that NPCs give when you are dubious (wonder how much I could get for the tongue of a blithering fool, blahblahblah....). This is just crazy, or is it nerfed so that you can only do it twice and then you have to do other faction quests?
On a side note, for some bizarre reason my faction is now indifferent to Wuoshi, but dubious to the rest of SS, thought it was all the same faction?
RE: Emil Broken?
# Feb 24 2001 at 6:06 AM Rating: Default
Like someone else said, Emil can give out different quests every time he spawns. You can still turn in items for other quests, but if he's not giving out the report quest you'll have to wait for his next spawn.

And for the other thing, Verant just put in a patch to address a bug where a player's factions were not always loading immediately upon zoning in. So sometimes Wuoshi would slaughter a player porting in, even if their faction was good with ClawsofVeeshan. So now, for about 15 seconds after zoning, all your factions are indifferent. I think that's what you're seeing. Try waiting a bit after you zone to con Wuoshi.

I have been trying this myself, but can find no source for boysenberry pies, or a recipe to make them myself. I have noticed that the sentry over in the corner will chime in about how he likes boysenberry pies during some of the interplay between the two cooks, but I cannot evoke a response from him. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I've tried saying things like 'Emil sent me' and 'Emil wants a boysenberry pie', along with every combination I can think of. It's probably something very simple we're overlooking, or else something that only the twisted minds of VI would come up with.

I've managed to get only one response from the baker after he is hailed and he talks about thier dispute. If you say "I like the boysenberry pie better" he will scoff at the cook gloatingly and the cook says something about you not having any taste.

Other than that, I'm stumped too.

Now, I know he did not before, yet all he says is

"Of course you would!"

I guess the inclusion of a boysenberry pie is like the hardest thing in the world for verant to do. Its really taking them FOREVER to just have velious "finished" in a ready for retail state THREE MONTHS after it was on store shelves, AMAZING.

Most of this stuff is just items or scripted response stuff, then a quest reward. You'd think someone's special cousin named Timmy coulda fixed all this stuff in a weekend.. jeez.
