To start this quest, you need amiable faction with the Paladins of Underfoot. At the moment, only dwarf paladins enter the game with sufficient faction to get the quest, as there is no known way to raise it.

This is the roleplay walkthrough written by Jiae Soulmender. For a more traditional walkthrough, check the one written by fcoty28 below.

I was helping my good friend Riae Soulmender in Dagnor's Cauldron trying to find that elusive Bilge Aqua Goblin when suddenly Riae mentions that he found some exiled Paladin by the docks of faydwer. Naturally I felt obligated to go investigate. Off to Butcherblock I went in search of something interesting.

I get to the docks and to my surprise I find a friendly young Dwarf fisherman by the sea.

"Hail, Dru Razbine", I said. He responds back about his fishing spot and tells me how he needs to fish for food now that he is banished from Kaladim. I listen in on his story of woe and how he was stripped of his Cape of Underfoot by Datur Nightseer, the leader of the Paladin Guild in Kaladim. Turns out he was chosen for a very important task by Datur, failed, and was banished.

If only he had a brave Paladin to help him. "I think you've found your best hope Dru, let me help you," I said to him, hoping for the chance to redeem my newfound fallen dwarf paladin. He jumps at the chance maybe seeing something in me that reminded him of himself back in his younger years.

He goes on to explain the unfortunate circumstances surrounding what has happened. He was sent by Datur Nightseer to carry the Chalice of Conquest to a noble band of Paladins in the Mountains of Rathe. Dru then informs me that the Chalice of Conquest is very special indeed.

Rumor has it that Brell himself delivered the Chalice to the Church of Underfoot himself. Drinking from the Chalice of Conquest assures you of victory, howerver only good natured people can drink from the cup. If someone of an evil past drinks from the cup, they suffer the wrath of Brell.

He goes on to say he was able to make it to the group of High Paladins in Rathe Mountains but while he was there a band of orcs attacked the camp. During the melee an opportunistic Blue Orc was able to sneak into the camp and steal the Chalice! Dru was busy fighting off the attacking orcs to notice the artifact being stolen. After the fight was over Dru chased the orc off into the sunset to no avail.

When Lord Datur Nightseer heard of the events that took place from Dru, he chose to blame his once noble paladin and banish him from Kaladim.

After his tale ended he handed me a container with two slots. He told me that once I found the Chalice of Conquest and the Candle of Bravery, combine them, and return the case to Lord Nightseer. "Candle of Bravery?" I asked, having never heard of such an item. He explained that is a Ceremonial candle lit when the Chalice of Conquest is to be drunk from. He told me to get the Candle of Bravery I would have to get both the candlestick and the candle, the latter of which burnt out long ago and he did not know where Priestess Ghalea aquires them from.

From this point I'm off on my quest for the Chalice of Conquest, Candle of Bravery, and most importantly- To restore Dru Razbine to his former glory of being a Paladin of Underfoot. First, thanks to Riae Soulmender who reminded me who she was, I went to Kaladim to speak with Priestess Ghalea of the Church of Underfoot. I made my way to the cleric guild inside Kaladim and asked the Priestess about the Candle of Bravery.

She explains that the candle itself is very difficult to make and only one person is able to do this task: Dok of Halas. She told him that if I needed one made I would surely need some Soil of Underfoot to give to Dok. For the Soil of Underfoot I had venture to Lesser Faydark and lay waste to some Fairies, and pick up four portions of Fairy dusts. After this tedious task I returned the dust to Ghalea and she gave me some blessed Soil of Underfoot (requires kindly faction with Clerics of the Underfoot). I then knew my journey required me to take the boat to Antonica.

After a long boat ride, followed by a long run, I made found myself at the Paladin camp in Rathe Mountains, the same Paladins who give out the Armor of Ro molds. I find Nicholas, the dwarven Paladin, and ask him about the Chalice of Conquest. He fills me in, with more detail, of the orc attack that fateful day and the events that followed.

Turns out that after the attack, a passing ranger helped Nicholas track down the blue orc to an orc camp in the near by Lake Rathe. At this lake the found the blue orc's dead body, appearently the orc had taken a fatal blow during the fight but had enough stamina to make it back to the camp, and a group of orcs too powerful for just the two of them to take on.

Nicholas decided that it would be best to go back and get help from the other Paladins. The next morning when the Paladins returned to the orc camp they found it deserted with some orc remnants scattered about. They found a bracelet with the name "Klunga" on it, a shovel, a bag of cauldron prawns, and two sets of tracks leading away from the camp. Nicholas went on to say that the orc camp has now been taken over by green orcs and advised me to stay away.

I thanked Nicholas for the information and then asked him what he knew about the Candle of Bravery. He gave me a piece of the broken candlestick and went on to say
that the Rathe Mountains are not only overrun by monsters, but by evil druids as well! Appearently an odd druid somehow managed to brake the candlestick and steal a portion of it during a fight between the druids and the paladins.

Nicholas even remembered the druids battle cry, "Long live the green!!!" Nicholas told me that if I was able to find the other piece of the candlestick, the make of the candlestick would surely be able to put it back together.

Against Nicholas' advice, I went to Lake Rathetear in search of clues. I found the orc camp that he mentioned, dispatched the surrounding orcs and found an abandoned orc shovel on the ground, which I promptly picked up. I found no other clues or tracks however, so I went back to Rathe Mountains in to find the odd druid who holds the remaining portion of the Candlestick. At this point I searched and searched and searched but could not find any druids that seemed... well unordinary to me.

Luckily for me an old friend of mine, Bohr Blackblade of Fires of Heaven, a fellow Dwarven Paladin, passed through the mountains and stumbled upon me. I informed him of what I was searching for. He sat down for a moment to think, like many wise dwarfs do at times. He stood up and told me that the only "odd druids" he knows of in the Mountains of Rathe would be the Unkempt Preservers. He then told me he was in a bit of a rush and he hoped he helped out. I waved goodbye and then started looking for Unkempt Preservers. I indeed found them and after killing the evil druids for almost a full day I felt discouraged. I took a bit of a rest and decided to give it another shot. Then out of nowhere I heard, "Long live the green!!!", as a dagger pierced my shoulder from behind. I quickly showed her what a Dwarven Paladin is made of and I'm sure she will regret what she started for all eternity, the druid fell dead at my feet.

I did indeed find the Base of the Candlestick on the body and felt with these components I should make my way to Halas to find Dok.

I was unfamiliar with Everfrost and Halas, and everything inbetween. After a days journey wandering the Snowy Peaks I found a cave with surrounding Barbarian Warriors. I found myself at Halas at last. I was able to find Dok in the building aptly named "Dok's Cigars". When I hailed him Dok told me how I would find no cigars for they had run out and I should leave.

I informed him that I was not there for the cigars, but for the Candle of Bravery. "Candle of Bravery? I'll need the candlestick, or pieces of it, a pouch of Soil of Underfoot, and a honeycomb to make that magical item," he told me. Of course I had every component accept the honeycomb and none of the local shops had any instock. I reluctantly left Halas and started the journey for Misty Thicket, where I had heard Bixies dropped the Honeycomb I was after.

Lucky for me a friendly druid named Tryst Trustolid was kind enough to take me to Misty Thicket in a flash. I found a Honeycomb in one of the local shops and my friend Tryst was able to get me back to the Karanas. From there I was able to run back to Halas and turn in the items to Dok. He must have been a shaman because I was sure I felt some magic pulsating from the Candle of Bravery when he handed me the item. I placed the Candle into my container given by Dru Razbine and was already halfway to my goal!

At this point I was all out of clues. I had a bracelet with the name Klunga on it, and an abondoned orc shovel. "Where could the Chalice be?" I asked myself over and over. The blue orc, Klunga?, had it last and now he is dead. I finally went back to Nicholas to ask about the orc remnants to see if I missed something. He reminded me that he found the shovel, the bracelet, and a bag of cauldron prawns when he looted the camp.

Cauldron prawns! How could I have been such a gnoll and missed that clue, surely it meant that the Orcs were from Dagnor's Cauldron.

So I rode the boat back to Faydwer and headed to the Cauldron. When I arrived I found that my old friend Dalas Soww was there looking for the elusive Blige. I asked him if he had seen any orcs in the area and he quickly led me to the only orcs he knew of, the orc scout camp high atop of a rocky hill. I thanked him and he went along his way. So I was onto them now.

I found the orcs and they were going to give me the information I needed to find the Chalice! Even though I was very good at the Orc Language they would not respond to my questions. I showed them that Dwarves do not appreciate such lack of cooperation. I had to resort to violance. I slaughtered the Orcs and every time they came back to the camp I slaughtered them again. Still no information. However I did notice an odd pattern. Roughly every 6 in-game hours (18 real life minutes) there would be four orc at the camp instead of three. However this fourth orc that was appearing was still just a plain Orc Scout. But I was determined, and continued the Orc slaughter, I needed to redeem Dru!

Finally, days later, a new orc appeared at the camp. It was an exiled orc legionnaire. "Could this be what I have been looking for?!" I questioned myself. Sure enough he followed suit as with his orc brethren not responding to my questions so I dispatched him. However this orc, instead of dropping Rawhide armor, dropped a note. A bloodstained note.

The note had some very interesting information, the spelling was sloppy as is all Orc Literature. The note read a little something like this: "Dis is a notis of the death of Klunga~ He tryd to reedeam himsef by stealig a Dwarv cup~ When he drunk from cup at lake he died~ We drug his body back to Calldrin~ We burnd bodi in fire pit here~ We bury cup here~ We killd gnome castor here~ We tink he knows sumtink~ Den all is gud~"

I deciphered the note I found on the Orc with my brother Xiae Soulmender, a very intelligent High Elf wizard. We decided the message stated that Klunga was the blue orc that stole the cup, he was not injured during the battle in Rathe Mountains but died from drinking the cup. His fellow orcs brought Klunga's body and the cup back to the Cauldron.

The Orcs then cremated Klunga's body in the fire pit at the Orc Camp, and buried the cup elsewhere. The only thing we weren't quite sure about was the Gnome caster. Who was it? And where was he? While scouring the Cauldron for answers I noticed my brother Diae Soulmender, a Ranger, walking to the Estate of Unrest. I asked him if he could try to track down this Gnome Caster.

He was able to make short work of that task, finding Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil very quickly. Ghilanbiddle was at a camp with some companions of his. I asked Ghilanbiddle if he knew anything about the Chalice of Conquest. He told me that he knew the Chalice was buried within the Cauldron but he did not know precisely where, however he did know someone who does.

He explained using his arcane magic he would be able to resurrect Captain Klunga and have him lead me to the cup. He required a few items to do this task, a item that was once owned by Klunga, a portion of his blood, and most importantly, 100 gold coins. I had the bracelet klunga had owned, and also 100 gold coins. But what could be the portion of blood? "Is it possible the bloodstained note itself is what he requires?" I asked myself.

I decided it was worth a try. I traded him the note, the bracelet, and 100 gold coins.

Sure enough he responded back saying the he had successfully resurrected Klunga's soul to the place he was laid to rest. Ghilanbiddle also told me that Klunga's soul would need something to dig up the Chalice with. I sure was glad that I picked up that abandoned orc shovel at the Orc Camp back in Lake Rathetear.

I ran to the Orc Camp where I found the exiled orc, and found a skeleton named Captain Klunga. I gave the scattered fallen bones the shovel. I have to admit I jumped back a bit with the bones came together to form a skeleton twice the size as I. Klunga, wordless, started walking in a straight line towards a distant point in the Cauldron.

I followed him into the water and swan close behind to follow, my only fear now was that a passing adventurer would kill Captain Klunga before he was able to dig up the chalice. We made it across the Cauldron to a remote spot. Klunga paused a moment, a brown bag appeared at his feet and then he turned on me! I unsheathed my Ghoulbane, and dismissed him back to the realm of the undead.

When I picked up the brown bag where Klunga paused I found none other then the Chalice of Conquest! Overjoyed I made my way back to Kaladim. Ran through the halls, past the Bank of Kaladim, through the halls of the Church of Underfoot and kneeled before my liege, Lord Datur Nightseer, the noble Paladin leader.

I placed the Chalice into the container and combined the two items. I handed the container then to Lord Datur Nightseer who, in return, gave me a Cape of Underfoot for my troubles. The Cape itself was not very useful, a simple 4 armor class and maybe 5 extra stamina.

I believe the cape to be more of a status symbol in Kaladim and almost forgot about Dru Razbine himself. I ran to him, cloak in hand, seeing in his eyes that he knew my quest was over and he would be able to back to Kaladim.

Dru Razbine exclaimed, "Jiae, you're definitely a finer Paladin then I. Take this holy weapon, but be careful what you do with the magical charges it possesses, for I know of only one cleric that can recharge the magical effect. The cleric I speak of went to the lava filled plains of Antonica and has not been heard from since. Thank you Jiae, I will now be able to walk the halls of Kaladim again..."

When I examined the blade closely I found no magical effect or charges, does this mean I must search out the cleric in the lava filled plains of Antonica? What does she hold in store for me? A refined weapon? Possibly our grandest holy sword of all? We shall see in the future fellow Paladins, I call on you to help find the missing pieces regarding this Cleric!

This is the walkthrough written by fcoty28.

    You say, 'Hail, Dru Razbind'

Dru Razbind says, 'Greetings, my friend. What brings you so far from the trodden path? I hope you do not plan on stealing my [fishing spot].'

    You say, 'fishing spot'

Dru Razbind says, 'I need this spot! I fish to feed my growling tummy. I can no longer [venture into Kaladim] and eat in its fine taverns.'

    You say, 'venture into Kaladim'

Dru Razbind says, 'I have been disgraced! I used to be a respected paladin of the Church of Underfoot until I failed to complete a very [important task] for Lord Datur Nightseer. He stripped me of my Cape of Underfoot. I cannot walk the halls of Kaladim without my cape.'

    You say, 'important task'

Dru Razbind says, 'I was ordered by Lord Nightseer to carry the [Chalice of Conquest] to a noble band of paladins in the mountains of Rathe. While there, the entire camp was overtaken by a band of orcs. During the battle there was a [strange occurrence].'

    You say, 'strange occurrence'

Dru Razbind says, 'A large fray raged. Brave, valiant paladins fought vile, green-skinned orcs and while this happened, I spied the [Chalice of Conquest] being taken away from the camp. I was then distracted by a well placed orcish blade. After I defeated the orcs in my way, I turned to see a blue orc running toward the horizon. I gave chase to no avail. I lost the chalice and all respect. If only a [noble Paladin of Underfoot] would assist me...'

You say, 'noble Paladin of Underfoot'

If you're not amiable (or better) to Paladins of Underfoot :

Dru Razbind says, 'How dare you approach a member of the Clerics of Underfoot?! Dogs such as you lie in the same bed as aviaks and ogres!'

    Otherwise, you may continue:

Dru Razbind says, 'Yes, you shall do, noble _____. Take this. This is the Chalice Case. It is intended for the Chalice of Conquest and the [Candle of Bravery]. If you should get both, be sure to place them within the Chalice Case and combine them. Take the full Chalice Case to Lord Nightseer in Kaladim and I shall be redeemed and you shall surely earn a fine paladin's reward. Let your quest begin in the mountains of Rathe.'

He gives you a Chalice case - empty.

    You say, 'Candle of Bravery'

Dru Razbind says, 'The Candle of Bravery is ceremonial and is lit when one sips from the [Chalice of Conquest]. The candlestick was left with a fellow Paladin of Underfoot in the Rathe Mountains. The candle itself was lost and I do not know where Priestess Ghalea purchases them.'

Head to the mountains of Rathe. Nicholas is located in the paladin camp in the northeast part.

    You say, 'Hail, Nicholas'

Nicholas says, 'Greetings, friend. I am the keeper of the [Boots of Ro]. Please rest here with us in our camp of righteousness. No harm can come to you while we paladins keep watch.'

You say, 'Tell me of the Chalice of Conquest'

Nicholas says, 'You must be the one Sir Dru of Kaladim sent to retrieve the candlestick which was broken in the [orc onslaught]. I have only this piece in my possession as the other portion was taken by an [odd druid] of these mountains. Should you reclaim it, I am sure the maker of the candlestick can patch it together.'

He gives you a Stem of Candlestick.

    You say, 'orc onslaught'

Nicholas says, 'The orcs attempted to take the hill, as they do on a frequent basis. We repelled them, of course, but a [blue orc] rushed off with the [Chalice of Conquest]. Where he came from, I do not know. He was no part of the battle! I believe he just found an opportune moment to loot our camp.'

    You say, 'blue orc'

Nicholas says, 'I had a visiting ranger track him to his camp near Lake Rathetear. I spied the camp and saw his lifeless body near two other blue orcs. Apparently, he must have taken a fatal blow, but had enough stamina to make it to his camp. I returned the following day with my fellow paladins and found the camp long gone. The ranger, who was still with us, found two sets of tracks leading away. We found [orc remnants].'

    You say, 'orc remnants'

Nicholas says, 'Here. We found this worthless orc bracelet with the name Klunga on it. There was also an orc shovel and a bag of Cauldron prawns. We left them, of course. The camp has now been taken over by the green-skinned orcs. I would advise you to stay clear of this camp in Lake Rathe.'

    He gives you Klunga's Bracelet.

    You say, 'Klunga's Bracelet'

You say, 'Tell me off the odd druid'

Nicholas says, 'The mountains have been plagued not only by beasts, but by evil druids! They attempt to force all men from this land. One has stolen the foot of the candlestick which holds the [Candle of Bravery]. I remember that battle cry of hers, 'Long live the green!'.'

The Foot of Candlestick drops off of Unkempt Druids in Rathe Mts.Only the unnamed ones dropped it.

Once you have the Stem and Foot of Candlestick pop into Lake Rathetear for the shovel. Follow the right side past the merchants, bandits until the orc camps. The Abandoned Orc Shovel is a ground spawn at /loc +3486, -663 inside the 2nd tent.. You will need it later for the Chalice.

Now head to Priestess Ghalea in North Kaladim and ask her about the Candle of Bravery.

Priestess Ghalea says,'Welcome to the Church of Underfoot. Please open your soul to the greatness of Brell Serilis. May he guide you in all your future endeavors. And may your soles long for the [Soil of Underfoot].'

Priestess Ghalea says, 'The Candle of Bravery is used for temple ceremonies here in Kaladim. When the candle burns out, I must venture to the frigid village of Halas far to the north of the continent of Antonica. There I will take the candlestick and the [soil of Underfoot] to Dok. He must create the candle in the very ornate candlestick.'

    You say, 'Soil of Underfoot'

Priestess Ghalea says, 'I can trust you with the soil of Underfoot, but first you must obtain four portions of fairy dust. Return them to me and I shall mix it and pray over it. Then I shall give you a pouch of soil of Underfoot.'

Complete the Soil of Underfoot subquest, then head to Halas. Dok is located inside Dok's Cigars and is on Find (Ctrl+F).

    You say, 'Hail, Dok'

Dok says, 'Fine day to ye, _____. Welcome to me shop. If ye're searchin' fer a [cigar], ye won't be findin' any, more's th' pity.'

You say, 'No thanks, but I would like a Candle of Bravery.'

Dok says, 'I can make ye a Candle o' Bravery. I'll need th' candlestick, or pieces of it! And I need a honeycomb. Oh! And I need a pouch o' Underfoot soil as well.'

Hand him Stem of Candlestick, Foot of Candlestick, Honeycomb and Soil of Underfoot.

Dok says, 'Here is your Candle o' Bravery.'

Now that we have the Candle of Bravery complete we can focus the Chalice.

Off to Dagnor's Cauldron. The clue was the Cauldron prawns Nicholas mentioned.

Entering from Butcherblock and head left until you reach the orc camp. The exiled legionnaire has an orc scout as a PH. I did this at 35, but It can be done at 20. The legionnaire was level 22 and aggroed on spawn.

Kill him and loot the Bloodstained Note.

The note mentions a gnome, Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil. He is in the Fabulous Four camp to the right of the butcherblock zone line.

    You say, 'Hail, Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil'

Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'What business do you have here?! Trying to keep safe? Expecting us to fight your battles? Bah!'

You say, 'What do you know of the Chalice of Conquest'

Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'Looking for the chalice, are you? Ha! I don't know where it is, but I know a [lost soul] who does and he could lead you right to it. He had a taste of it and now he can't get enough. He is sort of under the weather, or do I mean under the ground? Ha!'

    You say, 'lost soul'

Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'The orc named Captain Klunga knows where it's buried. Unfortunately, his time on Norrath has passed. I happen to know two things... one, he is buried somewhere in this territory and two, I can [raise Klunga] and he can show you where the chalice is.'

    You say, 'raise Klunga'

Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'I can raise Captain Klunga if I have a portion of his blood, an item he once owned and the most important part, 100 gold coins! Hehe! A gnome's got to make a living, you know?'

Turn in the Bloodstained Note you just looted, Klunga's bracelet and 100 gold.

Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'The deal was - an article of Klunga's and his blood along with my fee of 100 gold coins and you will have his resurrection.'
Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'The deal was - an article of Klunga's and his blood along with my fee of 100 gold coins and you will have his resurrection.'
Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'Biggily boo, biggily borc... Raise that stinky orc! Bamm! Okay! It's done. Now all you have to do is find him in the spot where his soul left him and give him an orc shovel. Oh! I didn't mention that? Oh, well. I'm sure you can find one... somewhere. Now, get lost before I turn you into a toad!'

Head back to the orc camp in Dagnor's Cauldron you just left. Next to the camp fire is Captain Klunga, level 22, does not aggro and will not talk. Hand him the Abandoned Orc Shovel (I hope you looted it) and rises up heading west across the Cauldron. Swim to keep up with him until he gets out of the water across the zone to a patch of grass. He immediately drops a bag and goes aggro. Kill him.

Pick up the bag on the ground, it's the chalice. Now combine the Chalice of Conquest and the Candle of Bravery in the empty Chalice case.

You have fashioned the items together to create something new: Chalice Case.

Head to Datur Nightseer in North Kaladim for the turn in.

Datur Nightseer says, 'The chalice is returned! Praise be to Brell! You have proven yourself to our church and have earned our respect. Let me welcome you into our brotherhood with the Cape of Underfoot. Wear it with pride as all of our finest paladins do.'

Clerics can do this quest all the way until they get the cloak. 4 AC isn't a lot, but +5 STA wasn't bad at the time.

From the quest text, the unkempt druid is a female because Nicholas says:

"I remember that battle cry of hers, 'Long live the green!'."

The one in question will be level 21-22.

    Unkempt preserver

I cannot walk the halls of Kaladim without my cape.'

[Fri Nov 08 15:34:32 2019] You say, 'important task'

[Fri Nov 08 15:34:32 2019] Dru Razbind says, 'I was ordered by Lord Nightseer to carry the [Chalice of Conquest] to a noble band of paladins in the mountains of Rathe. While there, the entire camp was overtaken by a band of orcs. During the battle there was a [strange occurrence].'

[Fri Nov 08 15:34:48 2019] You say, 'strange occurrence'

[Fri Nov 08 15:34:48 2019] Dru Razbind says, 'A large fray raged.

[Fri Nov 08 15:34:54 2019] You say, 'noble Paladin of Underfoot'

[Fri Nov 08 15:34:54 2019] Dru Razbind says, 'Yes, you shall do, noble Aaldulek.

He gives you a Chalice case - Empty

[Fri Nov 08 15:35:19 2019] You say, 'Candle of Bravery'

[Fri Nov 08 15:35:20 2019] Dru Razbind says, 'The Candle of Bravery is ceremonial and is lit when one sips from the [Chalice of Conquest]. The candlestick was left with a fellow Paladin of Underfoot in the Rathe Mountains. The candle itself was lost and I do not know where Priestess Ghalea purchases them.'

    Rathe Mountains

[Fri Nov 08 16:23:24 2019] You say, 'Hail, Nicholas'

[Fri Nov 08 16:23:24 2019] Nicholas says, 'Greetings, friend. I am the keeper of the [Boots of Ro]. Please rest here with us in our camp of righteousness. No harm can come to you while we paladins keep watch.'

[Fri Nov 08 16:23:59 2019] You say, 'Tell me of the Chalice of Conquest'

[Fri Nov 08 16:24:00 2019] Nicholas says, 'You must be the one Sir Dru of Kaladim sent to retrieve the candlestick which was broken in the [orc onslaught]. I have only this piece in my possession as the other portion was taken by an [odd druid] of these mountains. Should you reclaim it, I am sure the maker of the candlestick can patch it together.'

He gives you a Stem of Candlestick

[Fri Nov 08 16:24:10 2019] You say, 'Stem of Candlestick'

[Fri Nov 08 16:24:25 2019] You say, 'orc onslaught'

[Fri Nov 08 16:24:25 2019] Nicholas says, 'The orcs attempted to take the hill, as they do on a frequent basis. We repelled them, of course, but a [blue orc] rushed off with the [Chalice of Conquest]. Where he came from, I do not know. He was no part of the battle! I believe he just found an opportune moment to loot our camp.'

[Fri Nov 08 16:24:37 2019] You say, 'blue orc'

[Fri Nov 08 16:24:37 2019] Nicholas says, 'I had a visiting ranger track him to his camp near Lake Rathetear.

[Fri Nov 08 16:24:59 2019] You say, 'orc remnants'

[Fri Nov 08 16:24:59 2019] Nicholas says, 'Here. We found this worthless orc bracelet with the name Klunga on it. There was also an orc shovel and a bag of Cauldron prawns. We left them, of course. The camp has now been taken over by the green-skinned orcs. I would advise you to stay clear of this camp in Lake Rathe.'

    He gives you Klunga's Bracelet

    [Fri Nov 08 16:25:08 2019] You say, 'Klunga's Bracelet'

[Fri Nov 08 16:25:56 2019] You say, 'Tell me off the odd druid'

[Fri Nov 08 16:25:56 2019] Nicholas says, 'The mountains have been plagued not only by beasts, but by evil druids! They attempt to force all men from this land. One has stolen the foot of the candlestick which holds the [Candle of Bravery]. I remember that battle cry of hers, 'Long live the green!'.'

The Foot of Candlestick drops off of Unkempt Druids in Rathe Mts.Only the unnamed ones dropped it.. The correct version in the database is Foot of Candlestick

Once you have the Stem and Foot of Candlestick pop into Lake Rathetear for the shovel. Follow the right side past the merchants, bandits until the orc camps. Then shovel is ground spawn inside the 2nd tent.. You will need it later for the Chalice.

Now head to Priestess Ghelea and ask her about the Candle of Bravery.

    Back to Kaladim

[Fri Nov 08 15:54:23 2019] Priestess Ghalea says,'Welcome to the Church of Underfoot. Please open your soul to the greatness of Brell Serilis. May he guide you in all your future endeavors. And may your soles long for the [Soil of Underfoot].'

[Fri Nov 08 15:54:26 2019] Priestess Ghalea says, 'The Candle of Bravery is used for temple ceremonies here in Kaladim. When the candle burns out, I must venture to the frigid village of Halas far to the north of the continent of Antonica. There I will take the candlestick and the [soil of Underfoot] to Dok. He must create the candle in the very ornate candlestick.'

[Fri Nov 08 15:54:28 2019] You say, 'Soil of Underfoot'

[Fri Nov 08 15:54:28 2019] Priestess Ghalea says, 'I can trust you with the soil of Underfoot, but first you must obtain four portions of fairy dust. Return them to me and I shall mix it and pray over it. Then I shall give you a pouch of soil of Underfoot.'

Complete the subquest for Soil of the Underfoot

    Now off to Halas

[Sat Nov 09 17:33:35 2019] You say, 'Hail, Dok'

[Sat Nov 09 17:33:35 2019] Dok says, 'Fine day to ye, Aaldulek. Welcome to me shop. If ye're searchin' fer a [cigar], ye won't be findin' any, more's th' pity.'

[Sat Nov 09 17:34:18 2019] You say, 'No thanks, but I would like a Candle of Bravery.'

[Sat Nov 09 17:34:18 2019] Dok says, 'I can make ye a Candle o' Bravery. I'll need th' candlestick, or pieces of it! And I need a honeycomb. Oh! And I need a pouch o' Underfoot soil as well.'

    The turn in:

[Sat Nov 09 17:34:42 2019] Dok says, 'Here is your Candle o' Bravery.'

[Sat Nov 09 17:34:42 2019] Your faction standing with Merchants of Halas has been adjusted by 5.
[Sat Nov 09 17:34:42 2019] Your faction standing with Wolves of the North has been adjusted by 3.

[Sat Nov 09 17:34:42 2019] You gain party experience!

Now that we have the Candle of Bravery complete we can focus the Chalice.

Off to Dagnor's Cauldron. The clue was the Cauldron prawns Nicholas mentioned.

Entering from Butcherblock and head left until you reach the orc camp. The exile legionnaire has a pher, an orc scout. I did this at 35, but It can be done at 20. The legionnaire was lvl 22 and aggro on spawn.

Kill him and loot the bloody note.

The note mentions a gnome, Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil. He is in the Fabulous Four camp to the right of the butcherblock zone line.

[Sat Nov 09 18:58:30 2019] You say, 'Hail, Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil'

[Sat Nov 09 18:58:30 2019] Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'What business do you have here?! Trying to keep safe? Expecting us to fight your battles? Bah!'

[Sat Nov 09 18:58:58 2019] You say, 'What do you know of the chalice'

[Sat Nov 09 19:00:31 2019] You say, 'What do you know of the Chalice of Conquest'

[Sat Nov 09 19:00:32 2019] Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'Looking for the chalice, are you? Ha! I don't know where it is, but I know a [lost soul] who does and he could lead you right to it. He had a taste of it and now he can't get enough. He is sort of under the weather, or do I mean under the ground? Ha!'

[Sat Nov 09 19:00:39 2019] You say, 'lost soul'

[Sat Nov 09 19:00:39 2019] Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'The orc named Captain Klunga knows where it's buried. Unfortunately, his time on Norrath has passed. I happen to know two things... one, he is buried somewhere in this territory and two, I can [raise Klunga] and he can show you where the chalice is.'

[Sat Nov 09 19:00:46 2019] You say, 'raise Klunga'

[Sat Nov 09 19:00:46 2019] Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'I can raise Captain Klunga if I have a portion of his blood, an item he once owned and the most important part, 100 gold coins! Hehe! A gnome's got to make a living, you know?'

And the turn in. The note you just looted, Klunga's bracelet and 100 gold.

[Sat Nov 09 19:03:05 2019] Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'The deal was - an article of Klunga's and his blood along with my fee of 100 gold coins and you will have his resurrection.'
[Sat Nov 09 19:03:05 2019] Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'The deal was - an article of Klunga's and his blood along with my fee of 100 gold coins and you will have his resurrection.'

[Sat Nov 09 19:03:05 2019] Ghilanbiddle Nylwadil says, 'Biggily boo, biggily borc...

[Sat Nov 09 19:03:05 2019] Your faction standing with Eldritch Collective has been adjusted by 5.
[Sat Nov 09 19:03:05 2019] Your faction standing with Dark Reflection has been adjusted by -1.

[Sat Nov 09 19:03:05 2019] You gain party experience!

Okay back to the orc camp you just left. Next to the camp fire is Captain Klunga, lvl 22. Non aggro and will not talk. Hand him the Abandoned Orc Shovel (I hope you looted it) and rises up heading West across the Caldroun. Swim to keep up with him until he gets out of the water across the zone to a patch of grass. He immediately drops a bag and goes aggro.

[Sat Nov 09 19:09:03 2019] You slash *Captain Klunga for 88 points of damage.

[Sat Nov 09 19:09:03 2019] You receive 6 silver and 6 copper from the corpse.

[Sat Nov 09 19:09:03 2019] You have slain *Captain Klunga!

Pick up the bag on the ground, it's the chalice.

Now combine the Chalice and Candle in the Chalice box

[Sat Nov 09 19:09:45 2019] You have fashioned the items together to create something new: Chalice Case.

Back to Kaladim for the turn in.

[Sat Nov 09 19:11:01 2019] Datur Nightseer says, 'The chalice is returned! Praise be to Brell! You have proven yourself to our church and have earned our respect. Let me welcome you into our brotherhood with the Cape of Underfoot. Wear it with pride as all of our finest paladins do.'

[Sat Nov 09 19:11:01 2019] Your faction standing with Clerics of Underfoot has been adjusted by 15.

[Sat Nov 09 19:12:00 2019] You say, 'Cape of Underfoot'

Back to the docks for the final turn in.

Hand in the cloak you just recived...

[Sat Nov 09 19:17:15 2019] Dru Razbind says, 'I thank you, my friend. You are truly a great paladin and noble addition to our ranks. I now can walk in Kaladim. Take this as a reward. It is the Holy Partisan of Underfoot. It is now yours. I believe it still has a couple of charges. Use it wisely as the only cleric able to recharge it was lost amid the lava filled lands of Antonica.'

[Sat Nov 09 19:17:15 2019] Your faction standing with Paladins of Underfoot has been adjusted by 10.

It should list honeycomb in the Quest Items or have the Candle of Bravery as a sub quest.

I'll rerun this quest here soon if no one else does and re write this quest.

Actually someone else will need to rerun this quest. It requires at least a level 35 dwarf paladin and I don't have any dwarves as characters and I'm not going to level one just for a quest. Smiley: smile

All that text is unnecessary and too time consuming to read all the way through. Whoever wrote all that mess should be shot. Please redo this page and include only the relevant information needed to complete the quest. You should be able to fit it all on one page without having to scroll.

    Hail animekenji,

Well met young traveler. Your search for information has led me to contemplate the very nature of this page. When I was young, I had wondered in great detail about questing and role playing. I had long thought I was a barbarian as as I was a tall fellow being of such great heights of 6 feet 4 inches. Short people looked at me as if I was a giant. But I met other giants like myself and quickly became quite comfortable with my dealings with middle earth.

During my younger days on middle earth, I met two young small travelers that were off on some great journey towards a place of darkness. I asked them why they were on such a dangerous journey into a place no sane mortal would go. They answered to throw a ring into a volcano. I asked them why walk all that way when you can just ride a giant bird and throw it in. They pondered and laughed and went upon their merry way.

Anyways, I hope this helped you.

    Good day.

I debated on whether or not to post the chat logs. In the end, it would have been an injustice if this write up got changed, so ill just post small tips.

I needed kindly from clerics of the underfoot to get soil of underfoot.

the spawn timer on the exiled legionnaire is 6 game hours(18 mins) , not 6 real time hours!

The unkempt druid that drops the foot of the candlestick is a wanderer not one of the statics spawns at the inactive ruins. For me it was a female mob called "Unkempt Preserver".

Chalice case turn in: 2 platinum
    Clerics of Underfoot +15
    Kazon Stormhammer +15
    Miners Guild 249 +11

    Cape turn in:
    Paladins of Underfoot +10
    Kazon Stormhammer +7
    Clerics of underfoot +10
    Veeshan +1

You know, as old as this quest is, it still has the most unique writeup on Alla. I'm not sure if that is good or not.
I got curious about this quest.

I completed this quest today after 8 years of being a dwarven paladin. I never quested this particular weapon, although I did every other one practically =D I tried to do most of this quest as I would have back in the day. Granted I was lvl 85, so it was very different, but the traveling aspect (boats, druid portals, etc =D) was fantastic. As I went through all of these old familiar zones, I reminisced of great adventures of old. I recommend any old-schoolers to consider going back to do an old "mini-epic" style quest of their own, and do it old style with alot of running, waiting and fishing =D Oddly enough I saw alot of things I hadn't seen before, or didn't remember, so whatever wasn't memorable for me, was new, even this old content, grey as it all was =D

    *thumbs up* =D

I found Dru Razbind fishing outside the walls of the docks opposite the aqua goblin camps.

    You say, 'Hail, Dru Razbind'
Dru Razbind says 'Greetings, my friend. What brings you so far from the trodden path? I hope you do not plan on stealing my [fishing spot].'
    You say, 'What fishing spot?'
Dru Razbind says 'I need this spot!! I fish to feed my growling tummy. I can no longer [venture into Kaladim] and eat in its fine taverns.'
You say, 'Why can't you venture into Kaladim?'
Dru Razbind says 'I have been disgraced!! I used to be a respected paladin of the Church of Underfoot until I failed to complete a very [important task] for Lord Datur Nightseer. He stripped me of my Cape of Underfoot. I cannot walk the halls of Kaladim without my cape.'
    You say, 'What important task?'
Dru Razbind says 'I was ordered by Lord Nightseer to carry the [Chalice of Conquest] to a noble band of paladins in the mountains of Rathe. While there, the entire camp was overtaken by a band of orcs. During the battle there was a [strange occurrence].'
    You say, 'What strange occurrence?'
Dru Razbind says 'A large fray raged.
You say, 'I am a noble Paladin of Underfoot.'
Dru Razbind says 'Yes, you shall do, noble Galthek.

    You received a "Chalice Case".

    Chalice Case

You say, 'What is the Candle of Bravery?'
Dru Razbind says 'The Candle of Bravery is ceremonial and is lit when one sips from the [Chalice of Conquest]. The candlestick was left with a fellow Paladin of Underfoot in the Rathe Mountains. The candle itself was lost and I do not know where Priestess Ghalea purchases them.'
You say, 'What is the Chalice of Conquest?'
Dru Razbind says 'The Chalice of Conquest is said to have been delivered to the Church of Underfoot by Brell himself. It is said that whoever drinks from the chalice is assured victory in battle. It is also said that only good-natured creatures may safely drink from it and only a comatose state is assured to any evil creature who dares to sip from it.'

So, I then went to Mountains of Rathe as he suggested and searched for the dwarven paladin.
I found Nicholas at the Camp for Paladin Ro armor.

    You say, 'Hail, Nicholas'
Nicholas says 'Greetings, friend. I am the keeper of the [Boots of Ro]. Please rest here with us in our camp of righteousness. No harm can come to you while we paladins keep watch.'

[Sat Mar 31 12:26:48 2012] You say, 'What about the orc remnants?'
[Sat Mar 31 12:26:48 2012] Nicholas says 'Here. We found this worthless orc bracelet with the name Klunga on it. There was also an orc shovel and a bag of Cauldron prawns. We left them, of course. The camp has now been taken over by the green-skinned orcs. I would advise you to stay clear of this camp in Lake Rathe.'

    [Sat Mar 31 12:27:00 2012] You say, 'Klunga's Bracelet'
[Sat Mar 31 12:27:13 2012] You say, 'Stem of Candlestick'

[Sat Mar 31 12:30:58 2012] You say, 'what odd druid'
[Sat Mar 31 12:30:58 2012] Nicholas says 'The mountains have been plagued not only by beasts, but by evil druids!! They attempt to force all men from this land. One has stolen the foot of the candlestick which holds the [Candle of Bravery]. I remember that battle cry of hers, 'Long live the green!!'.'

    You say, 'Hail, Datur Nightseer'
Datur Nightseer says 'Welcome to our temple. We are the paladins of the Church of the Underfoot. I am lord of our holy order. I call upon you to assist us in the defense of Kaladim. Speak with the master paladins or priests and find ways to prove your allegiance to brell.'
You say, 'Am I an honored member?'
Datur Nightseer says 'Yes. The light of righteousness shines from within you.'

Ok here is the scoop. I have looked into it long and hard and this is what I found. Yes he belongs to the "Paladins of Underfoot" this is correct. Now the problem is there are no quests that increase the faction. When you do the bone chip quest for the cleric/paladin guild you raise "Clerics of Underfoot" faction. Turns out couple game expansions ago the faction "Paladins of Underfoot" was removed somehow, I have had a GM check this and it was confirmed. You can no longer gain faction to get Dru to like you. BUT starting as a dwarven paladin, you start with aimable factions with "Paladins of Underfoot" therefore a dwarven paladin is the only one at this time that can undertake the quest. I have e-mailed the EQ peoples to fix it but of course that doesnt happen. So will keep you updated if anything changes.

My question is, can froglok paladins do this quest and wield the sword, provided they have the requisite levels of factions involved?

Just wanted to let you pallies know Dru's factions. When I kill him (ikky beastlord. veeshan made me, now im getting vengeance!) these are the following faction hits:

    -Paladins of Underfoot
    -Kazon Stormhammer
    -Clerics of Underfoot
    +Veeshan

I don't know if this helps anyone... but it looks like if working your Paldins/Clerics of Underfoot faction isn't helping, might wanna try Kazon Stormhammer. After all, why would the holy order care about the guy they cast out for not giving Brell his all?
    This is annoying

I started this quest when I was lvl23 (about 3yrs ago). I am lvl65 now and still have the Chalice and the completed Candle of Bravery in the bank, but Dru still refused to let me help him. This was such a long hard quest to do in the early days of EQ (before the twinks) and I'd love to complete it...just for the roleplaynig aspect of it.
I've handed in hundreds of bones, CB belts etc etc etc....and I'm still doubious Ack!!

How do you gain faction with the Paladins of Underfoot???
Look at this link, there doesn't seem to be a way 8(

I would just like to say Thank you to the person who wrote out this quest. Although it wasn't as clear as concise as explainations of other quest, I can't help but appreciate how fun this was to read. We need more roleplayers like you. ^_^ KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! /cheer

Also, I would just like to remind those people who think this quest is not worthy of doing, half of the purpose of quests is to have fun doing them. After all, that's the name of the game, EverQuest....not EverRich or EverPowerful.

Could anyone tell me if a level 20 paladin aided by a higher level friend in killing the druids and other higher level mobs be able to do this quest?
Also, I have heard that when you kill Dru your faction with the dragons goes down? Perhaps this has something to do with the cleric in Lavastorm?
Many mysteries surround what this quest really is......
    What level
    # Nov 11 2002 at 4:04 PM Rating: Decent
Could someone tell around what level they think the druids you have to kill are? I would also like to know the levels of the orcs in dagnor's and Captain Klunga himself. Thanks

BTW, Great story, it has inspired me to take up the quest, if I am high enough level wise.
