Why dont the freeport militia and knights of truth fight each other now, because they are in same zone. How come when I pull a freeport militia to the knight of truth guard he doesnt do anything, and I'm his ally. Whats so special about being an ally when indifferent is the same thing, its not like you get extra PP for selling to an ally, or getting help. Because of this quest and new zone the knights of truth and freeport militia should be attacking each other.

how come since both knights of truth and freeport militia are in same zone now, they dont attack each other, I see them both walk by. And how come when I lure one of the militia the knight of truth guard doesnt help me out? I'm an ally of his and he does nothing, whats the whole point of raising faction to highest if it doesnt do anything, being an ally is just the same as being indifferent. Because of this quest they should attack each other.

I'm a Warrior/Human Lvl10 with the Steel Warriors faction, and after completing the initial newby quest for my Warrior GM - Cain Darkmoore (who is now in East Freeport behind the Arena), he sends me over to the Hall of Truth to speak with the Paladins regarding the Freeport Militia, who are not be trusted he says.

Now, I spoke with Valeron Dushire - Paladin GM first, since I remembered him from my PAL character, and he gave me the story behind the Freeport Militia and their leader Sir Lucan (interesting story).
He also goes on to say if I am able to defeat Sir Lucan, to bring back his 'Testimony' which each Knight of the Hall of Truth carries (Sir Lucan still has his), for a reward.

He then explains that if I want to help in the fight against the Freeport Militia and it's Tyranny, I am to speak with either Jemoz or Sir Theron (Theron Rolius the Paladin GM obviously) who is just next to him.
Now, he goes on to explain that since I want to help, he'll put an open bounty on all Freeport Militia member, and that he will reward me for every 'Bashed Militia Helm' I return to him.
IF I don't feel like I'm ready for that, he needs assistance in other areas.
One of which he would need a young acolyte to retrieve a message for him, OR
Since he's been working on Sharkskin Shields, he requires (2) two shark skins from Reef Sharks.
I chose to help with the Shark Skins for now, and he gave me an 'Empty Shark Sack' with orders to travel to the Ocean of Tears to swim around and kill Reef Sharks until I filled the bag with Shark Skins. Once you have the (2) two Shark Skins and combined them in the bag, you return it to him for your reward.

Quest giver is Theron Rolius (Paladin Guildmaster) in West Freeport at location +1112 -127. (Hall of Truth is in the North section of the zone.)

You say, 'Hail, Theron Rolius'

Theron Rolius says 'Greetings, Zatx! To enter these grounds is to proclaim your faith in the Truthbringer. In this city you shall find no greater allies than the Knights of Truth. We urge all knights and clerics who oppose the hand of the Freeport Militia to [join the crusade].

You say, 'I will join the crusade.

Theron Rolius says 'Then take arms against the Freeport Militia! They serve no one save Sir Lucan, the fallen knight. From this day forth, I put a bounty upon all militia members. For every bashed milita helm, a reward!! If you are not prepared to battle the militia just yet, you may [assist in other areas].

Now head to the Freeport Militia house located in East Freeport, located in the southern part of the zone. Here you will find the named guards that drop the helms.

**Note: These were the only guards I could find that were soloable by a 61 Ranger, and that dropped the helms. No helms dropped from any of the guards in East and West Commonlands. While the guards were green to me, they still resisted almost all of my spells. BEWARE. **

Loot Damaged Militia Helms (No Drop) and return to Theron.

Hand Theron the helms one at a time.

Theron Rolius says 'Fantastic work, my young knight. Here is a small token of the my appreciation. I would offer you a sharkskin shield, but I have made only a few and the paladins are testing them.

Your faction standing with Knights of Truth got better.
Your faction standing with Dismal Rage got worse.
Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia got worse.
Your faction standing with Priests of Marr got better.
Your faction standing with Steel Warriors got better.
You gain experience!!
You receive 3 platinum from Theron Rolius.

Experience: Negligable by the time you can do the quest. Even when you can kill Ledshin (the lowest level guard that drops the helm. WFP, level 28. 800-900hp, hits for 70s max) the XP is crap. But, this isn't supposed to be done for xp...
Money: 1 to 4 pp each time you do it.
Faction: Excellent. My iksar beastlord (level 49, so it was pretty fast for me), following cazic, went from scowling (maxxed down, I've killed a lot of paladins) to amiable in a half hour and 32 helms. The half hour of guard killing got me to dubious (I did some pulls from the gaurdhouse, higher levels) and the helms took me to amiable. This quest is VERY worth doing for faction or boredom (I did for the latter) as it is _the_ fastest way to raise your faction with the Knights and Priests of Marr, and all those other factions.
Risk: High. Every zoneline out of freeport is guarded by high SVM guards with an extreme amount of hp and high damage. I recommend West freeport as the guards are more spread out and tend to be lower level on average (exception: gate, gaurdhouse), and you can med/rest at the arena without fear of them jumping you.

GL with this all, as the fewer softskin guards there are patrolling this overgrown village, the faster the Iksar Empire can take it for our own.

I don't know which guards you pulled from the 'guardhouse', but guards by the commonlands gate in WFP resist every spell I cast and dual for 100's....

Do you mean the Militia house?

Look at the date of this post. It was posted before the revamp of Freeport.

The guards are now higher level and roam in bigger packs.

It used to be you could run through the city and survive being KOS. I bet this is a much bigger challenge now. I know I'll not be doing anything to make me KOS here now.

This is an excellent quest to raise your faction and the helms drop almost every time, i went from indifferent to ally with the knights of marr in about an hour of farming the helms

There are some some low level guards in East & West commons, so yes a 15 can do it solo or better yet with a group.

well, i suggest not worrying about killing guards till you level higher, you will have to have your calm as a paladin or soothe. My faction was perfect with freeport militia till i killed nobles and guards in high keep, then i decided, what the heck, i already have bad faction with freeport militia, so i decided to go kill them , im a level 52 paladin human, well , it was easy, but there are many that are conning dark blue and 5 of us cant take them out, so be careful who you pull, but its fun.

Lets say you kill a North Freeport guard. Will your faction go up with the freeport militia as much as it goes down with the Knights of Truth? Please help.

Killing one side's people lowers your faction with that side by a LOT and raises it on the other side by a LITTLE.

I killed about 30 Knights of Truth (NFP) and went from ALLY to SCOWLING.

I have since raised my Opal DarkBriar and Dismal Rage factions to ALLY ( the reason I was killing Paladins in the first place ) through another quest, and now I have killed more than 50 Militia Guards and I am now SCOWLING to both factions. LOL

Coalition of Tradefolk - Max Ally
Dismal Rage - Max Ally
Opal Darkbriar - Max Ally
Ashen Order - Indifferent
Arcane Scientists - Indifferent
Coalition of Tradefolk Underground - Dubious
Steel Warriors - Dubious
Knights of Truth - Scowling
Priests of Marr - Scowling
Freeport Militia - Scowling

I kill militia guards until I get back to ally with Priests of Marr, then I do the rat ear quest in Qeynos Hills to bump up my Arcane Scientist faction to Ally. Then I'll have to repair Opal Darkbriar and Dismal Rage, and then camp Orcs for Knights of Truth/Ashen Order faction and do the Inert Potion quest in Erudin for Max Underground/Militia faction...

Bwahahahahaha! I'm now the mayor of Freeport!!
re:sk
# Sep 03 2002 at 11:38 AM Rating: Decent
Down below a Sk asked if he could do this quest and some answered that he could if he were no somehow KOS to every Paladin on Norrath. My SK has killed hundreds of gnolls and turned in about 128 gnoll fangs and now cons ally to many in qeynos, the worst cons(paladins) are dubious. So an SK can be not KOS to paladins in certain places.
I guess that as an SK if you kill a corrupt guard the faction with the goody goodies will go up. I can't guess why an sk would do this anyway, doesn't the orc belts quest (good version) raise faction with the goody goodies anyway?

Soulfire
# Mar 27 2002 at 8:30 PM Rating: Decent
You can be KOS and still do soulfire cuz you are gonna need help -- i saw a lvl 59 pally try to solo Lucan and i dont know if he used LOH or not but he couldnt so you are gonna need a group so it doesnt really matter if your KOS if somone else pulls.
RE: Soulfire
# Jul 18 2002 at 11:00 PM Rating: Default
You dont need a group to kill lucan. My 56 monk on Cazic killed him with the help of LOH from the pally I was helpin get soulfire. You need to pull just Brother Jendl(monk and FD) and then heal up and pull lucan Jendl before respawns which is very fast.
RE: Soulfire
# Oct 16 2002 at 5:07 AM Rating: Default
bleh u dunno what u talkn about... first off his name is Brother Jentry. 2nd you dont need to kill him, you only need to kill Sir Lucan ( and of course the undead lucan that pops after origional lucan is killed) I know the site says Jentry is like Lucans Bodyguard, but jeez use yer head. Killing Lucan without killing Jentry is this simple. Recruit a person ( or two) who are NOT kos to the militia. Have them stand at the zone from west freeport to north freeport. Then you pull Lucan and will get a few adds, jentry included. Pull all of them to the zone where your recruits are waiting, and zone to north freeport. While u are zoning, your non kos recruits are constantly doing "Hail, Sir Lucan" and whaaaaa laaaaa!!! in a matter of a minute or so, all of the militia will return to their spawn points INCLUDING JENTRY while Sir Lucan will be stuck at the zone being held under the constant hails! Now you zone back in. Now you and yer recruits begin to kill lucan, and when he is around 85% health yer recruits who dont wish the horrible faction hit simply zone to north freeport before lucan dies. N ow u got lucan dead, u got the loot, u didnt have to make any unnecessary kills, and nobody except the intended pally lost faction. Ive done it this way 4 times now, so please think b4 u speak 8) /flame off

As a paladin, I do not suggest making yourself KOS to the militia prior to the soulfire quest. Once you have ye 'ol burning sword, you might as well take their heads because you will not be welcome in most of Freeport.

(You can however sneak into NFP via the tunnel under the city). As a tradeskiller, not being able to wander around EFP will not be easy. I am glad the Bazaar has such a plentiful supply of materials for me.

WFP has a hidden passageway to enter NFP from outside the gates. Look up the map for the tunnels.

You need to remember that there is 1 guard that is level 16 in the area. He stands next to the leather shop in E. Freeport near the docks. You can take him solo and get 2 helms and sell them to SK's they need it for there Darkforge armour.

Tunnels
# Oct 02 2001 at 9:44 AM Rating: Decent
Keep in mind there are two different tunnels from WestFP leading to the other Freeport zones.

If your looking at the West freeport gates from the outside. In the very LEFT corner of the two walls is the tunnel leading to North Freeport, this tunnel is safe for everyone, including Paladins, as there are no NPC's, except a Dark Elven Merchant at the entrance in WFP and a Barb Shamn quest NPC, which is on Beta Neutral Faction I think. The RIGHT tunnel from gates is the one to East FP, and has several exits into EFP, dependiong on which exit you or tunnel you choose, you do need to watch for your Good/Evil alignment. This is where the Evil Guilds and merchants are located. So if you want to get to EFP, I would suggest having an escort that knows those tunels well. Once you learn the tunnels to avoid, you'll be safe.

# Jan 04 2002 at 12:47 AM Rating: Default
When you go left, I did see a militia guard where Toxill (dark elf rogue) spawns, and there is a necromancer down near the zone to NFP, 70% of the time i can kill her no problem, but 3 times i have had to use my LoH...33 Paladin. But i am just warning you evil people, there is the occasional guard there. And to the right side there is a pit where you fall down and a bunch of prisoners attack you. They are pretty tough, killed my level 8 necromancer in 4 secs flat.

Dunno if this was just a fluke or something, but when I tried ta use the sewers ta get to North Freeport (and yes I did use the one in the left corner) there was some necro there. Think her name was Driana Poxsbourne or something to that effect. Had a nasty poison DD and feared me a lot (killed me twice). Anyhow, I'm waiting ta kill guards 'til I get Soulfire.

"ohh yes let's not forget THE FACTION"

It's nice to be ally to almost every good race. High faction is good, I sell FS weapons for 6pp+ and buy stuff cheap, yes it saves and makes money over time :) Just think how much you lose when you go to town with 5 bags full of FS :)

Something to be proud of, most people don't realize this is a RP game. It's not about killing same mobs over and over for 10 levels in same zone, there's more to do that just killing all the time. Raising faction is one way.
