After you complete the fourth rank quest, after getting the Dark Binder Cap Master Kyvix says something about the 'true mission'.

When asked he says the following:

Master Kyvix says 'I have been waiting for a Nihilist to return. His name was Ryx and I fear his love of ale and the high seas has kept him from his mission. All I want you to do is find him. He should be disguised as a worker and he will give you a tome to bring to me. Return it with your Dark Binder Cap. I am sure that is simple enough for one as simple as you. Be sure to give him this."

At this point he gives a spectacle which is Lore and No Drop. Ryx is in fact in the Overthere at the port for Evil beings. He is disguised as a skeleton worker, He is on top of one of the boats that are on dry dock being built. You can levitate to get up to him. Or you can go under the ship and walk away from the water under the boat and you will enter it. Then go to the otherside and you will be able to go up to top of boat. He will respond to no messages.

Giving him the spectacle gets the message:

a skeleton worker stops working and begins to open his creaking jaw. 'I live to study and quench my thirst. I live to Bash the Faces of Pariah and entangle myself in the ivy of evergreen. I live. I want to remember'

What he wants is four items:
-A Forsaken Pariah Mask from Iksar Pariah (Lake of Ill Omens, Warslik Woods, Swamp of No hope)
-An Ivy Evergreen Ring Guard (from the Forest Giant Evergreens in Warslisk Woods)
-The Spectacle (that's what you get from the master)
-A Bottle of Green Death Rum.

Once he has all these four items he gives you a metal key. You must be 20th to finish up. Give the Metal Key to Tin Banker Assistant at the Overthere outpost. You have to wait till the General who is in the bank leaves to check up on his troops.

You say, 'Hail, Tin Banker Assistant'

Tin Banker Assistant says 'Insert Metal Key *whirrrr*.'

Giving the key to the banker will get you a tome and some money. The tome reads the same as the note Iksar monks get to give their Guildmaster when they enter the game, but this is the tome the Master Wants. Give him the Tome and your Dark Binder cap. The quest results in the Occultist Skullcap.

When you hand in the four items to the skeletal worker, you get the message about what he wants x3 and then

a skeleton worker takes your hand and guides it into his ribcage. You feel something odd. It is a metal key!!

Then when you turn in the key to the banker assistant, you get

Tin Banker Assistant shudders and begins to clang. You hear the sound of an ocean of coins. A small door pops open and a book pops out. A few coins also manage to escape.

A Spectacle
Kyvix gives you this when you ask him about a 'true mission'.

Green Death Rum
Sold by Klok Poklon in East Cabilis for a few gp. Use the find window to get to him.

A Forsaken Pariah Mask
In Warslik's Woods, on the northwest edge of the bandit lake there is a static spawn at LOC -1263, 4203. It will be either an Iksar Manslayer or an Iksar Pariah. Keep killing it until the Pariah spawns (bout every 5 mins). You can also find a couple in the iksar bandit caves at the south end of the zone (the zone-in to LOIO) Never seen one not drop a mask.

An Ivy Evergreen Ring Guard
Still in Warslik's Woods, head to the giant fort around LOC -656, 806. This is a common drop from the Forest Giant Evergreens. They wander around the fort and spawn inside as well. Levels 23-27.

Once you have them all just head to Ryx (see previous posts for his location) and give them all to him in return for the key. I couldn't get up on the boat using the methods people have said, so I just ran to PoK and got a lev from someone, and flew onto the boat. After he gives you the key don't worry about identifying it or anything like that, just hand it to the Tin Banker Assistant in the Overthere Outpost (be careful getting over to him). Take the Journal back with your old cap and turn them in. Easy.

When you hand in the journal and the darkbinder skullcap the folowing conversation comes:

Master Kyvix says: I did not expect you to return. You made me loose a bet with one of the other scholars. Seeing as you have deivered the tome, I shall not harm you, but rather welcome you into the rank of the dark circles. Listen well to the scholars within this tower and seek the [Keepers Grotto] for knowldge of our spells. This drape shall be the sign to all iksar that you walk with the Brood. Now go speak with Xydoz.

nice to know he was cheering for us =)

I just completed this quest 10/13/04 and I used the snare, pull, FD combo. For some reason everytime I used lev, I pulled a guard. Even with gather shadows. I was also able to turn my key into the banker with Gather Shadows on. I know this cuz the only time it dropped was when I started to cast gate to get my azz outta there, hehe

Also, I got my Dark Binder helm back...weird...

KoS to The Overthere

Iksars Necs are KoS to The Overthere.. so how you suppose to do this part of the quest?
RE: KoS to The Overthere
# Jan 14 2004 at 7:11 PM Rating: Decent
I did this quest the other day its not acual that hard. the best way is to swim around to the boats then invis vs undead and trade with the skell worker on the boot dont hang around to long or youll get nuked by the preist gaurds. I gated back to pok then came back down used gather shadows to get to the bank. Wait for the general to leave if he is in the bank and trade with the banker asst. then just gate out. that easy
Metal Key

Ok, has this one been fixed with the 6/11 patch? I recast identify on the key and still got TIN 1. Not sure how to go about figuring out who the new person is to give the key to.
it works
# Jun 13 2003 at 3:49 PM Rating: Excellent
I can confirm this is fixed after the 6/11 patch. There is now a "Tin Banker Assistant" next to both of the bankers. I received TIN I and gave the key to the assistant, and received the book. YAY :)

# May 15 2003 at 10:35 PM Rating: Decent
As of March 15th, 2003, this quest--as well as many others--is now bugged and impossible to complete, as the option of trading with Bankers has been removed from the game. You receive a "right click to make a transaction with the Banker" type message when trying to trade an item to the Banker. I have /bugged this, and hopefully it will be addressed soon.

One question...
# Dec 02 2002 at 12:58 AM Rating: Decent

Isn't Iksar KOS to VS faction or the tin bankers?

RE: One question...
# Dec 03 2002 at 12:19 PM Rating: Decent

Just finished this quest! YES!
To get on the ship on drydock, just duck and walk under it until you get inside. Then use the same technique to get on the main deck.

This quest skellie cons indifferently when I dropped invis (pretty much standard for quest NPC) while other skellies are KOS. I gave him the fourt quest items and got the key.

Since they have changed the policy of turning in item, You don't need IDENTIFY to do this quest. The banker will return the key if it isn't for him. My lvl 9 necro did this without any problem. This quest is much easier and less time consuming than the previous ones!

Good luck!

Correct me if i'm wrong, but would it be easier if you tried to find the skeleton at night since the Dragoons leave the outpost to patrol?

I just completed this quest. You must drop invisibility spells before you can give the skeleton worker, or the banker their respective items

With the new patch, you can't hand in quest items while invis'd. I got my helm before the patch, but I just wanna see if anyone can still hand in quest items while invis'd vs undead.

I got into the boat by going south end, ducking, getting as far under the boat as I could go, then standing and jumping. When I landed, I was inside the boat. Then I went as far to the edge on the inside as I could and jumped again. Then I was on top of the boat.

As for General V'Deers, his agro radius is HUGE! If I wasn't invisible, I couldn't even open the door without him coming over to attack. Waiting for him to go on his rounds, I noticed he left around 9pm.

I completed this quest last night with my Level 21 Iksar necro. Getting the 4 items to give to the skeleton npc at The Overthere was not difficult. Here are some suggestions for the part of the quest that starts with travel from Cabilis to The Overthere.

Step 1 -- Bind at the necro guild in West Cabilis so that you can gate back later. Exit West Cabilis into Warsilks Woods.

Step 2 -- Go NW from Cabilis through Warsilks Woods to The Overthere. I suggest using Gather Shadows as your invisible spell and keeping your best direct damage vs. undead spell memmed. Also, I suggest travelling without a pet. You can make the trip without Spirit of the Wolf, though, of course, SOW will help make the trip quicker and safer. The zone to The Overthere is on the far west border of Warsilks Woods, at about the N/S loc of 0.

Step 3 -- Once in The Overthere, go west a short distance until you can see the large statue. Continuing to use Gather Shadows and without a pet, go north till you come to the water. Follow the water west until your path is blocked by a wall. Cast invis vs. undead on yourself.

Step 4 -- Swim North in the water, and then swim West. Swim until you are about at the loc pos 4000, pos 4000. Then swim south, heading for the west side of the westernmost boat. Though there is no obvious passage, you can climb into the boat from underneath. On the deck of the boat you'll find the skeleton npc to give the items to. From here, you can complete the quest as described.

Of the first five Necromancer rank quests, this is the one I think to be the most interesting. Good luck to all on completing it.

I dont understand. I get on the boat fine but the skelton on the boat, the one on the right if facing away from the sea, cant take it cause the item is no drop. However, there is another skeleton on the ground next to the other boat who can take the spectactle but you get attacked right after you give the item cause you lose invis. What am I doing wrong?

FYI You might want to do the turn in from the north side of Ryx. I handed my spectalce while standing on the south side of him and the undead worker from the ground agroed me through the boat. I cast a quick FD and healed up. Then I jumped up and ran to the front, but he didn't agro. When I did my turn in from the front part of the boat, I didn't agro the skelly on the ground.

I finished this quest the other day. I'd had all the parts for a while, except the Dark Binder cap. Stupid monkey kept hiding from me. Anyway, here's the scoop on finding Ryx. There are two boats in the OT dry docks. The one with the two skeleton workers beside it, and the one with a skeleton worker on the deck. The second boat, which is on the right as you face away from the water, is the one with Ryx on it. He was on the deck, facing the other boat. I gave him the spectacle, and he said his spiel about wanting to live. I gave him the Evergreen Ivy Ringguard, the Forsaken Pariah Mask, and the Green Death Rum, and I got the key. I did this all with Invis to undead up. It did not drop when I traded with him, but started to fade when I got the key, so I ran back to the water, and swam to the wall. Then I identified the key as Tin 1, Gathered Shadows and headed to the bank. I got lucky and the General was already gone, so I ran inside and gave Tin Banker 1 the key, got the tome, and gated back to Cabilis. My Gather Shadows did not drop when I gave him the key. Gave the tome and my Dark Binder cap to Kyvix and got my Occultist cap. Finally got rid of the Savant's cap, and got the cool skull look.

quite easy
# May 12 2001 at 10:12 AM Rating: Decent
with the help of all you fine people this quest is truly quite easy. The quest items are easy to get, in WW there are probibally more masks and ringbands destroyed in a day than every Iksar necromancer in the game just hang by the FG fort for a little bit and give a shout, and by the ruins west of the fort you can surely find Parih Masks, which by the way are awsome for necromancers and you should have one on your face anyways. infiltrating the dry docks is fairly simple, but one fact remains YOU MUST RE-INVIS YOURSELF after getting the key i found this out the hard way and lost all the exp i just got and then some. so have fun with this, its simple.
Best time to talk to banker.
# Mar 11 2001 at 12:06 PM Rating: Default
This is an easy quest to complete compared to the 4th skullcap. The general and all of the goons leave the outpost at 11:00pm gametime so if you want to go talk to the banker, go at midnight.
Very Good Quest

I really liked this quest. Compared to the two previous ones, it was less frustrating, yet more challenging and rewarding. The physical reward of the Occultist Skullcap is pretty good, but that isn't what made it rewarding for me. It was the excitement of being in unfriendly territory and having to move around in stealth mode. The actual items are relatively easy to come by. Every Pariah I killed had the mask. The first Evergreen giant had the ringband. And the green death rum can be bought in the pub upstairs right above where the froglok slaves and Toilmaster stand. When I went into the outpost I swam in, starting outside of it. Then swam up to the boats in the drydock. When swimming up to the beach, the skeleton you need to deal with is on the boat on your right. I went in with Invis vs. Undead on. Got on the beach and ran into the ship from the beach side. At first I didn't succeed getting in. I had to do it a couple of times. Once I gave all of the items to the skeleton, I got the key and reinvised vs. undead, then jumped off of the boat and swam towards the dock. I ran up the hill and got into a corner. Identified the key, then cast Gather shadows. Ran to Tin Banker I and got my book and then gated the hell out of there. It was RPG meets Super Mario Bros., kind of. One key thing to do is to enter the outpost after 11 PM. That is when the General and all of his guards march out of the city. After they are gone the only thing in the outpost that isn't undead and will kill you is the guardians. Good luck all.

Call of bones

A MUCH easier way to do this quest is to go into the outpost while using call of bones, making you a skeley and dubious to all guards, npcs, etc. this is a level 34 spell if you can wait that long, i got the quest done in about 20 minutes =)

Ummmm.... neat idea.

There are QUESTS inside the Outpost where you can gain faction with the VenrilSathir faction. Everything in the Outpost is part of the VenrilSathir faction.

Soooo.... under the disguise of a skeleton, I would think that you can start building up faction with the Outpost, and eventually be non KOS status in the future.

# Feb 24 2001 at 3:09 AM Rating: Default
umm im not sure due to the fact im only 20, but im pretty sure ive read that call of bones illusion makes u kos to all guards. now if uve tried it and it works that might be easier then invis im not sure. but i will definitely try it if it works
RE: Call of bones
# Mar 11 2001 at 12:02 PM Rating: Default
Call of Bones has been nerfed so that it no longer affects faction in the outpost. I was lucky enough to do the berserker quest enough times to become nonkos only 1-2 days before the patch that nerfed COB but to all of you now trying this quest, sorry this is no longer an option.

# Jan 02 2001 at 2:24 PM Rating: Decent
I am a 21st level necro and I just completed this quest. As opposed to the 3rd and fourth skullcaps, this was a breeze. Just have to remember to invis yourself before checking to see if the general is in the bank and invis to undead before turning in items to the worker. On to the impossible to complete 6th rank cap.
