Master Kyvix says 'If you truly be an apprentice of the third circle, then there is a Dark Binder skullcap to be earned. Take this sack and fill it with a creeper cabbage, a heartsting telson with venom, brutling choppers and a scalebone femur. When they are combined within the sack, you may return it to me with your third rank skullcap and and we shall bid farewell to the title, 'apprentice.'' Receive a Brood Sack in which you combine the above items. This produces a Full Component Sack. Hand in the combined result with your Apprentice Skullcap - 3rd Rank. Master Kyvix says 'I demand a full fish sack and your third circle apprentice skullcap.' Master Kyvix says 'you have taken far too long!! Already another apprentice has performed this task. You will still be rewarded with the Dark Binder skullcap, but now you must aid in a [true mission].' Your faction standing with Brood of Kotiz has been adjusted by 10. People have told me that it spawns maybe once a week over by the lake just upstream from the giants fortress in Warslicks. Anyone know if there is any key to finding the skulking brutling other than killing all the low level goblins as they scurry around the pond/lake upstream from the fortress?

You use a cracked femur from a Greater Scalebone. Creeper Cabbage from a man eating creeper, a scorpian telson WITH poison bolt effect. And an INTACT chomper from a sulking brutling. THe brutling also drop a shatered version. These will not work.

The greater scalebones drop a cracked femur that identifies as a scalebone femur. I'm not sure whether there is such a thing as an intact scalebone femur.

Is it a regular scalebone skeleton or a greater scalebone skeleton. I've killed about 60 scalebones and they've never dropped a femur, just bone chips.

You need to make sure that the Heartsting Telson is the one with the poison proc on it, else it will not work. Also, the brutling choppers need to be the intact brutling choppers.

I have tried this quest twice and got the message that "these item do not combine in these quantities to produce anything". Anyone know if this quest is broken?
