NOTE: This is the quest entry for the group version of "King of the Beasts". See this quest entry for the raid version. This group mission begins with Kalda Treg in the Beasts' Domain, located at 315, 2800, 10 (far northwestern part of the zone). Pre-requisites for requesting the task: - Completion of "Beasts for the Stew" - Completion of "A Question of Integrity" - Completion of "Message of Faith" - Completion of "Pups of War" - 73 Skill Level in Alaran You say, 'Hail, Kalda Treg' Kalda Treg says, in Alaran, 'Do you know how this great land works? The Domain has a King. A King of Beasts. A King that takes power from the echo of Kolos in these lands. It takes a powerful creature to dethrone the current beast, and when it does it grows even stronger. However, the current King has reigned too long. And he drains the power of the Domain, rather than using it. We need your help to defeat him, as we are not capable alone. If you agree, there are two ways we can deal with this threat: a small [group] to attack by stealth, or a large group to [assault] the King directly.' You say, 'A small group' Without pre-requisites: Kalda Treg says, in Alaran, 'It does not seem right at this moment. We need more time to prepare. Continue to assist Mea Treg, and then we can talk.' With pre-requisites: Kalda Treg says, in Alaran, 'That might be best. I will gather a few hunters. Keep your own group small and agile. Let me know when you are [ready].' You have been assigned the task 'King of the Beasts'. The King of the Beasts has reigned for over a decade and must be deposed. The hunters of the Beasts' Domain have requested help. Talk to Kalda and lead the hunters to victory. Defeat the King of the Beasts. The creature must be prevented from draining the Domain. Talk to Kalda Treg 0/1 (Beasts' Domain) Hailing Kalda Treg triggers the event, so don't hail Kalda until ready. You say, 'Hail, Kalda Treg' Kalda Treg shouts, 'Be wary! The strongest opponent of the King will draw powers from the Domain. It will empower you, but shortly after it will start to control you! Be agile! Now, the beast must be destroyed! Attack!' There appears to be a storm overhead. Challenge the King of the Beasts 0/1 (Beasts' Domain) Kalda Treg and the hunters charge the King of the Beasts and assist you in attacking. The King hits for a max ~12,500 and has several AEs: Entangling Domain Vines: Single Target, Chromatic (-900) 1: Root King's Charge: PB AE 20', (0) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 50347 King's Quake: PB AE 100', (0) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 36763 2: Stun (0.30 sec) King's Roar: PB AE 100', (0) 1: Inhibit Melee Attacks by 1% 2: Silence King's Slam: Single Target, (0) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 58346 King's Toss: Single Target, (0) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 58346 Magic of the Domain: Single Target, Unresistable (-650) 1: Increase Attack Speed by 35% 2: Decrease Hitpoints by 3200 per tick 3: Decrease AC by 225 4: Increase STR by 250 5: Increase DEX by 250 6: Increase ATK by 100 7: Trigger Effect: Call of the Domain on Fade 8: Increase corruption counter by 40 About every minute (or longer), the King spawns an add called "a beast" (hits for a max ~8,500; stunnable). If this isn't killed within about 60 seconds, the King consumes it and regenerates 5% health: The King of the Beasts snaps up another beast and eats it whole! Midway through this encounter (or, this may be a timed mechanism), you'll see a power-up emote: The King is highly agitated! It appears to be building up power! This step updates as you kill the King. Search the chest found in the King's lair 0/1 (Beasts' Domain) The King of the Beasts has been defeated. The draining effect the creature has harmed the land with will reverse itself, and a new King of the Beasts will rise to power. king is no longer mezzable. makes this a bit tougher.
