OK I read thru the post's for "Harvest of Venom" and didnt like what I saw.
So I went to Commons and began killing cat mobs, Earlier I had done a quest in North Ro, and the Placeholders (PH) were Pumas. So Knowing SOE,... I started killing "a young plains cat" with in four kills guess what, POPS "a giant spider".
I started the hunt near the huts outside of Nektulos Forest, and moved west, killing young plains cat, giant fire bettles, giant leaf scarab. I noticed that giant spders were spawning at /loc 696,-1694, 38 // also NOTE: giant spiders did NOT spawn at night. 6PM until 6AM game time.
I killed nine giant spiders total to get the three egg sacks. //
For the giant Rattle snakes, I went over to the southern part of the zone, which is the desert. killings scarab spiderlings, large rattlesnakes, and the ever present undead, no spawns. moving futher down i hunted the area of /loc -921, -1200, 20 Theres is an Undead Camp there. I looked around and saw "PUMA's"
as soon as I started in, the giant RattleSnakes started spawning. Four kills later I had my snake egg.
The willowisps were abundant, near Nektulos forest zone line, The second kill got me the smoke.
A little under an hour got me the Gauntlets of Darkness for Orge SK

I found that Giant Spiders would not spawn during but instead at night. Killing spiderlings in that area seemed to help too. Kill everything else too just to clear the PHs.

I spent hours trying to do this quest...til i found this post. Great info, completed in about an hour using this info. Thanks a ton!
OMG! I can't believe this. After nearly 6 months of hunting Giant Spiders I finally got the last 2 egg sacks.
Trust me when I tell you I can verify not all Giant Spiders are created equal in the Commonlands zone. Follow the directions Xaelwyn posted here to the letter and you will get this one completed. I logged in and no more than 5 minutes later a Giant Spider crossed my path in the area near Nektulos Forest. I killed him and got the second egg sack (I got the first one 6 months ago). After going around the zone and killing every Giant Spider I could find, I returned to the area near Nektulos Forest and found another Giant Spider that dropped an egg sack. It really bites when Sony does this sort of thing. You should be able to find the same drops off the same mobs all over a zone, not just some drops by some of the mobs in a specific area of a zone.
