Went to see the Captain yet again today with a few more stacks of orc scalps from Crushbone.
I usually hand in (4) unstacked orc scalps at a time to him and get the factions hits, experience, and money (5g 2s 5c).
I had a single Orc Scalp, so gave it to him and noticed that I got the same amount of money as I did for handing in (4) Orc Scalps (5g 2s 5c).
To confirm this, I gave him (1) Orc Scalp at a time for my last stack, and it was a much nicer profit of 20 x 5g2s5c =(100g 40s 100c) vs 5 x 5g2s5c =(25g 10s 25c) per stack of Orc Scalps.
Regarding the XP and faction hits, I assume it's the same and get the same as by handing only (1) Orc Scalp or (4) Orc Scalp at a time.
Note for Bards: Use your 'Cindas Charsimatic Carillon Song' on him and any other NPC that regards you lest then 'amiably'. He regards my Wood Elf Bard (CHA 122) 'apprehensively' usually, but with the song on it jumps to 'amiably' as it does with most NPCs that I use the Song on.

Without the [Volunteer Watch] helping us out, Highpass would probably be overrun by those vile beasts.' Turn in an Orc Scalp (you may turn in up to four at once). Captain Ashlan says 'Great work! I believe you are misunderstanding the message you get when you hand in four scalps. If you scroll up your chat window, you'll find that you actually receive four separate messages when you hand in four items. The "Ta-da!" sound is also significantly louder.
