a drolvarg captain spawns in LCY just out from the yawning. He was yellow to my 54 Ranger and dark blue to my 70 Shaman. Coned ally to my shaman as well which I thought was funny. hit for 350 ish on both toons. slow landed fine as did snare. I am thinking he is the new mob for the hot zone thing. First time I killed him he droped:

I spent way to much time in this zone completing my masters cultural armor quest and my ranger epic and swore I would never come back. Now the 14 June 2006 patch has designated it a “hot zone”. Just when I think I’m out they drag me back in.

On the sol ro server it seems that this zone is pretty dead of other PC's. Makes it hard to get VSR for the ranger epic. So for all you high lvl players on sol ro come on by the next time you get bored and just rape this place along with venril sathir. That way I can get a pick up group to get the final piece to my epic from his remains, thanks.

With my 57 Druid I noticed a mob that I had not seen before located on the second drawbridge. It was a skeletal mob called 'drovlarg warloard' (all lower case and no 'a' before it). I pulled it and it had a strange looking club in its hands. It had a 'Dwarven Sap', a club, bad stats but it sold to the merchants for 64 pp. Could not find any in the bazaar so I sold it to a merchant. Anyone else seen this or know what its used for?

With my 57 Druid I noticed two things yesterday afternoon. When pulling drolvargs to the front they used to take the long way, walk to the middle, take a 90 degree turn, head towards the front, take a 90 degree turn at the front and head towards me. NOW, they cut corners and get to you just a little faster.

On the stairs going up in the first tower there is a little opening that you can see through. NOW, when pulling drolvargs from the front balcony if you run fast enough and get far enough ahead of them they will try to go through that opening (of course they can't fit but they still try) and get stuck there until you go up to them.

Yesterday I had the day off from work and decided to ding my Druid to 58 in KC. I was the only one there for a few hours and when I zoned in I was facing the tower and noticed an npc would run, just on the far side behind the 2 npc's guarding the first drawbridge, from left to right. I noticed this a few times later in the day. Sometimes a small drolvarg would run and sometimes a spectral with it's pet would run. This may be a new add after the patch so beware.

A 40ish Shaman was in the RCY when he died and when he came back his group had gone and he asked if I would be able to retrieve his corpse for him. I decided to try out this spell and cast it on me (it is self only). I noticed that some mobs in here cannot see thru this but some do. I was able to run back to RCY, target his corpse and retrieve it to the front entrance for him. Use it at your own risk!!

There were 2 groups in here last night - one in LCY and one in RCY. One had a 36 Ranger and one had a 32 Cleric. After lots of tells from both groups for needing clerics for multiple rezzes I decided that soloing was my most enjoyable experience (as it usually is). I had 4 hour KEI and stayed the entire time last night clearing the front and the tower and saw many corpse runs from low and high level people. A well balanced group may have made a difference but if people want to group with a wide range of levels that is their choice.

55 Druid single pulls from the tower
# Sep 02 2003 at 10:19 AM Rating: Decent

With my 55 Druid I can almost clear the front tower. I clear the 2 at the entrance, then the 2 just inside the drawbridge then the roamer. I then make sure that regrowth is refreshed. Go up the stairs, past the platform and to the top. Snare the nearest drolvarg, let it hit you once to do some damage to itself and slowly move down. Keep it close to you or it will pop back to the top. At the platform wait for it and then move halfway down (not all the way down) the stairs so it will follow you. At the bottom wait for it (again) and when it hits you you can exit and it follows you. When heading down the stairs stay to the outside (facing down stay to your left). This keeps the drolvarg on the stairs and it does not pop back up. If you aggro a second just root the second and keep pulling the first. I pull the drolvarg to the front entrance and root it either on the left exit or on the right exit away from others. I have found that getting hit by the drolvarg keeps it close enough to me so I don't get too far ahead of it and have it pop back to the top. So far I have used this to get to the Captain a few times (no uber drops yet) and it's a way for me to get great xp while others are camping the front areas. When soloing, before I have a chance to clear the tower the drolvargs at the entrance start to repop.

How to pull from the water without going in
# Aug 25 2003 at 8:39 AM Rating: Decent

I was with my 55 Druid and I helped out another group by rooting a Spectral for them. I them went to the second draw bridge to pull a sentry and a skeletal guardian attacked me (no skeletal guardian was on land at that time). I pulled it to the front and then dotted it to death. I did the same thing 2 other times yesterday to test it out. I would do a small amount of damage to a Spectral that another was fighting (with their permission of couse), run across the second drawbridge and stay on the outside of the drawbridge and something from the water would aggro onto me and I would pull it to the front. This is not a definitive test but others should try it out to see if they can duplicate this. This may be a way of pulling from the water by aggroing a mob on land (a spectral) and then getting near the water to aggro something in the water. It may be that they pulled a spectral from the water or it may only work by aggroing a spectral or I may be playing way too much and interpreting things that aren't there. Any way good luck to all.

We just started fighting in KC this weekend. I found the easiest way to pull out of the moat is to use a bow. Using this method, my group (49 necro, 48 ranger, 47 warrior) were able to hold the left corner very nicely. Constant pulls of the sentries on the bottom level of front tower and the moat trash. To pull from the moat just target MOB, fire an arrow, and back up a little. MOB will swill to u and then pop up on land. Spells cast on MOB do not appear to stick while MOB is still in the water. Hope this helps.

The past few days I have been seeing people target Drolvarg's in the balcony, mainly the Captain, while they stand at the front entrance drawbridge. Sometimes the Drolvarg's will jump down into the water and then attack people that cast on them (nice trick when it works). Has anyone else seen people do this? Sometimes it does not work as anticipated and a lot of Drolvarg's take the stairs down and aggro lots of people near the entrance.

There are lots of undercons here (WOW what a surprise!!). Recently I have been seeing lots of people pull multiple mobs to the front and then die very fast. The number of people showing up here thinking they can take a dark blue or yellow is very sad. People should do their research or at least ask others in the zone. I have not played all classes but I do think that 40 or below is a bit too low for this zone and will draw a lot of aggro. I had my Druid here at 51 and I could manage the front entrance. If the front is cleared it does not mean you can go back in and pull something out. Last night and Sunday there were lots of corpses and lots of corpse runs, some in groups and some solo's. It makes it much harder for those that can handle the zone to work around those that cannot.
/rant off
Hopefully this helps

I had my 55 Druid here Saturday morning all to myself when a 46 Warrior entered and started shouting looking for group. After the third shout I told him there are only 2 of us here and I am soloing today. He left and came back in a few minutes and started the same thing again. Had a Rogue do the same thing later in the day. It would be helpful if people did a who after they enter to see if anyone is in here and if they would be a good fit in with these people.

Should i hunt here?

Hi, i'm a lvl 41 troll shadowknight and have only hunted here with a group once. But do u think i should still hunt here, because killing the mobs here lowers the faction with the outpost in the overthere. (by the way, the exp is great, and so is the loot:)

I think you should stick to DL until 49 or 50. As I'm sure its been said before, its very rude for melees to come here under lvl 45 because they'll have a hard time hitting the mobs and will just be there for a free exp ride without contributing much. Plus DL is faster kills and much easier to get a group. You can even solo there.

Don't worry about your VS faction though. Either use the PoP book in the FV tunnels and go sell in PoK or get a ride from the spires in DL. At level 50 though, the main hunting zones I'd be thinking about are Velks, Sebillis, and KC. The loot and exp in KC is horrible compared to Velks or Seb though.

I have to disagree, I'm a 53rd paly now and I started hunting in KC at 40 grouped and had no problems. Everything is Dark Blue in the RCY or LCY and the entrance, Dog Tower the captain is the only yellow mob that you would have trouble hitting. I say, if you don't mind the faction hits go for it, everything is dark blue, so don't worry about not being able to hit anything.

I found that pulling the mobs and fighting them near the water they can then be healed by Spectral's that are in the water. A very annoying thing to see your mobs health go up 5 percent and then another 5 percent and then etc, etc. I noticed that a Spectral's head would pop up out of the water and they would start to heal the mob I was dotting. I first noticed this Sunday and may be an addition on one of the recent patches.

Zoned in with my 52 Druid last night and I was the only one in here :). I would use Harmony of Nature to soothe one and pull the other. I did this for the 2 outside, then the 5 in the first court yard area (the fifth is the roamer) and then on the skeletal and the other one on the second drawbridge. I would pull one to the front, root it, and dot away - Drones of Doom, Drifting Death, Breath of Ro, when they wear off do it again. I can do this on 9 of them before the first one in front spawns again. I had a great time dooing my solo Driud thing too.

I was once pulling drolvarg at the entrance and from the moat, and with just a level 49 Warrior and a 49 Cleric we were getting phat 1pct exp per kill. Of course killing is a bit slow, but in a group you need 2-3 to get that same percent of experience.

So I'm just saying it's doable.

As for trains, just take a corner and you will avoid all of the trains.

I believe that KC is a great place for a warrior, like me, or anyone else for that matter to transfer from DL to the planes! It has good exp and mobs are easily pulled and mezzed, and they do not hit especially hard. Also there are some great drops here that can be sold for upwards of 3k. Also if you are a druid, or anyone else who solo's if you can get your snare/root to land which shouldnt be a problem this place is golden. Remember, not much space to kite around. And lots of mobs, so watch out for adds, and they are KOS!!!!!

I hate KC with a passion.

Every time I've been here recently my group has gone 4-5 kills and then get near-wiped by a train. Then we spend 20-30 minutes regrouping. Then the healer leaves.

Very sour taste in my mouth about this zone. So much that I duoed in DL until 50. Now I'll move on to PoP. Karnor's can die for all I care. Horrid zone.

'Cappy' (Drolvarg captain) room seems to be a popular camp, and not too far off the zone.

Every now and then you'll someone ooc 'xxx LFG' and then the typical reply 'come at cappy !' :)

Left courtyard is an easy camp with a chanty a healer and at least 2 melee and nukers.

It's a good zone. Experience seems pretty decent if you are 45-50, all is high blue if not yellow.

Entrance is doable without chanty but Left courtyard can get pretty nasty, with repops.

Chanty seems almost mandatory and Paladin is a must.
Paladins can stun the ghosts (spectral curator..) before they Gate and heal themselves, they can also single pull in here with care.

No amount of cleric healing will do if you have no crowd control, Root is the least to begin with.

Now it is underused, but not quite like City of Mist. As I write we are about 22 in the zone in the 'high' time. It's quite easy to make level 45-50 ish groups.

I used to hate this zone because everytime I came in at level 45+ my Warrior would never get a group. About a year ago it used to be full all the time with groups in each corner by the moat and lots of people LFG at the zone.

Stick to the place and you'll find regular players, and once you know a few getting groups is easy.

I was able to cast SOW on myself and SOW buff the group in here so it is considered an outdoor zone for casting purposes.

A necro can get very good exp in here soloing near the entrance. You can start at lvl 46 easy. Could try at 45 but you might get some resists.

50+? No way!

I have heard throughout many places that KC should only be attempted if you are 50+, which is not true at all. I am 45 and I like to hunt here sometimes because it is a fun zone. (And I want to get some cobalt guantlets to drop) I walked in one day, shouted my LFG and got a group in Right Courtyard, everyone was 50+ but me, the MA. We were havin fun, and I decided to pull a hand throuhg the wall, we owned it. Later on we took the hand room, by then we had: Me (warrior), a monk, a rogue, a chanter, a druid, and a pally. We started to have monk pull from the room to break it, and soon enough there was only the Construct of Sathir left (A rough little guy) So we stormed in and owned, but our enchanter died due to mez difficulties with the Construct's pet. This is with NO cleric, we had a druid healing and me as the MA at level 45. We kept fighting in there and later on picked up a cleric as the paladin left, so we pulled the jailer and some of the prisoners, owned them too. We had a great time, and I proved myself as a good tank. Although that night we only got Helm of Rile and Kunzar Cloak to drop. So if anyone ever tells you that you must be 50+ to group here, it's not true. If I can tank the Construct of Sathir, the Undead Jailer, some hands and other nasty mobs, anyone else can hunt here, especially in something like a courtyard group!

I agree with that, most of the groups I have been were composed of level 45-52 characters. I have been in groups with level 43 Enchanter, level 38 Cleric even!

However, for that to work well you want to have one level 47+ Main Assist, that can keep aggro, and won't need tons of heals.

A few level 45 ish melees would have a harder time of holding a Courtyard (CY) imho.. but the entrance is very easy.

On the other hand, I have seen the occasional 40 ish melee LFG in KC, and that is a bit low imho. Fine if you have a spot open and already have a decent MA, but otherwise too low.

The plague mites are used in Rogue poisons: mangled tendon and wasted flesh. The dust of decay is used in Rogue poisons: crushed vein and mangled tendon. These are new poisons introduced in PoP.

I too have noticed this. I first noticed that they dropped after 10/26/02... I dont know what they are for. I asked in group once and someone said something about new spells... I didnt inquire further because i figured allakhazam would have the full scoop but obviously not(.
#Meany, Posted: Aug 19 2002 at 5:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If see this cleric LFG don't invite him into your group. He's a lvl 48 Cleric. He'll get up and leave your group in the middle of a pull if he feels like it. He was in a Hands/WL group and he got up and left to join the LCY group cause he thought there was better EXP there. When he left us we were in the middle of a Drolvarg Bodyguard pull. A minute after we killed the Bodyguard (which was close)a Constuct of Sathir spawned which we had to zone. We ended up causing a Nasty train with alot of deaths!! To bad Heeaalz lived though it. We pulled the train right though the LCY but he got lucky. BAD LUCK on our part. To sum it all up Heeaalz is a @#%^ and I hope you get trained in KC every time you LFG there!

How about you bring it to your servers message board ala Rants and Flames. This is a place for corrections, questions of drops from mobs and levels to group/solo not to complain about <insert person here> and how they screwed you. Your words fall on deaf ears here

There is also no reason to call out which side you are training to. Don't @#%^ing cry when some one Shouts TRAIN, you then ask for them to go left and they don't. You shouldn't of been sitting on the right side in the first place. All REZing, buff, resting etc are done on the left side. Eveyone needs to stick to one side so players who are trying to get REZed or LFG don't get killed.

last night i decided to take my lvl 32 druid and explore norath so i ported to all the zones i could and explored. last port i used was combines, the dreadlands. it was an eye opener i ran around went i to the ice tunnel and everything conned red to me (well most of everything) as im running i get chased by a big dog that coned red to me so i run my little elven heart out. and then i see a castle in the middle of the desert with people fighting around it, i thought it was some kind of outpost so i ran into it thinking i was safe....... :( ohhh was i wrong i hit track and all the red that poped out almost left me blind. i shout what lvl is it here, 40+ some one replyed i was gateing out of there before the next messege came out i was gating my happy little druid butt. moral of the story if u are in a land where everything can beat the living snot out of you a stronghold in the center of it is not a good place to go ;p good luck to all who hunt in there

lol thats funny, eq was so much more fun at lower lvls. I remember doing the same thing with my wizzie was so fun, everything was red in dl, but hey i had the port so why not. First raid ever was to splipaw, it was like sooo cool, deep dark underground dungeon, then an underwater tunnel!

So true a few months after release I took my little level 8 enchanter off to explore Fay by following the zone edges into new zones, I found myself in mistmore. The original train zone. Also the first time I got a Res, was like whoa you can do that? Didn't realize ya had to loot your corpse and almost left on the boat to freeport until I saw my body on the dock and jumped overboard to go loot it. Making me wait another 20 min for a boat. EQ has come a long way baby.

If you have good faction with Venril Sathir (Overthere Outpost) is it possible to explore this dungeon without getting beaten on by random mobs? =P

The big dogs will not attack you, while the small ones will. Therefore the big dogs take faction while the small ones do not =) Handy thing to know while in this zone and trying to keep VS faction up =) I have been sucessful for one level now and I am still amiable. The faction hits are not bad at all.

Yes, and no, you'll need IU to get past the undead, and even some other creatures may attack you (the little drolvags for example). I've walked around without having to kill anything though.

it varies from server to server, most servers have their own raid board on ezboards or gamerealms, so i'd check those two spots, they are what most servers use

i understand that VSR drops 2 of the stones for the ranger/druid epic. does VR himself drop only one stone or no stones?

The guy who responded to you seems to be very informative on outlining what you seem to have known already. But to answer your question, I have never heard of, nor seen VS drop the stones himself. You must either Kill VSR, or kill Drusila Sathir (in Charsis) and hope for a necklace of Superiority (then give necklace to the remains and get a free stone, no fight needed).

But VSR is the only way to get the stone

Ok theres a certain way that u do this. After some has killed the normal Venril Sathir (the one that drops the kunark leggins) approximetley 24 hours later Venril Sathir Remains will spawn in the prep room. The Venril Sathir Remains is Indiff to all so dont attack him. Make sure u kinda clear out all the rooms around him to be safe. Now what you do is have a druid hand him a summoned: Firefly Globe. This is a lvl 5 spell that is only cast at night. Hand him teh Firefly globe and the Venril Sathrir Remains turn into a Spirit of Venril Sathir and looks like a ghost. Now make sure everyone is ready this is when the fighting will start. Now hand the Spirit of Venril Sathir the lvl 49 cleric spell Ressurection. This can be bought in any cleric guild for 27pp. Now he turns into Venril Sathir and attacks. He is really easy to kill. I had about 2 1/2 groups that where pretty unorganized. You just ahve to make sure that your MA has aggro and that a chanter is constantly chain casting rune on him. He then drops bones and 2 stones, no legs. VEry easy.

Sorry, not true. I tanked VSR a while back and got tapped two or three times. Unless the people who were raiding were high when they told me it was VSR...I asked them specifically so I could know what to expect, and they said they had spawned him earlier but had gotten wiped; so "Venril Sathir", whichever one it was, was up. I came in and tanked him for them- no deaths- and we put him back in the ground where he belongs. Still have the bones from it for the 7th iksar shaman cudgel, in case anyone is looking for a MQ...maybe I could help.

the exp is really crappy, and most people go here immediately after DL (the people who are still learning their chars, don't have charasis or seb keys, and are kinda newbish). There's almost always massive trains, people shout that it's going one way and run right into the people that think they're safe (train the wrong fookin' side). That might be why it's not widely discussed amongst your peers =).
