Killed this mob with a well equipped level 55 warrior tanking and a level 63 cleric healing. The Fabled Xalgoz was level 55, enraged, dropped two xalgozian fangs, and the Fabled Blade of Xalgoz.

This mob seems to be a new quest mob. I read of a similar mob mentioned in City of Mist when I did a search. Hope this info helps someone. In the meantime, he's going to give my new bard a little more juice exp-wise ;).
Like a lot of dungeons, Kaesora is typically BYOG. Particularly here due to the one-way entrance -- once you're into the dungeon, there's no easy way to get back to the entrance to pick up another. A cleric could ITU past most of the undead, but the first mobs you'll encounter on the way in are spiders, on which you'd have to use regular invis.
If not Dreadlands for pickup groups (which really is the most popular place), you could try Dawnshroud Peaks. Sometimes also Kael Drakkal, Sol B, or Lower Guk. Or even elsewhere... you're a cleric, just pop up that LFG flag, they'll find ya.
You jump down into the dungeon to meet the first mobs. To get back to the exit is a long trek past undead and live mobs. If you could survive the trek back up to the ledge where you drop to zone in/out you may be able to hunt there by pulling to there. If you dont know the zone its very easy to get lost. Not a zone i would recommend for soloing at that level.
Needed 2 of the scrolls, and camped him for 15 hours. had one scroll within 3 hours of camp. Seems to be a completely random spawn. Killed everything in BY and the CY. couldn't fogure out a place holder, or a cycle, nor could I find any info on his spawn time/ph cycle anywhere.
know it's been posted further up - don't waste your time going to monkly-business, just go here first. http://www.geocities.com/Kurrleeeci/ShackleGuideText.html
Yes, A 40 mage could solo in here as long as you are able to control adds well. The zone XP Modifier will make it worth your while. Your biggest problem will be the caster mobs who fear your pet. Be sure to wear resist gear.
If you want a better spot, I would recommend the bloodgill goblin camp in Lake of Ill Omen. They are static Underwater goblins that hit for medium damage. With a BO and armored fire pet, you can take 2 at a time. They give 1-2%XP each, and they spawn every 15 minutes. With 12 goblins, that is 12-24% XP every 15 minutes, or 48-96% XP every hour.
It will be tough at 40. You will need to play pet cleric quite a bit, and avoid getting aggro. Grab a KEI, and you should be able to solo the top 8 spawns. After your 44 pets and the new heal, it will be a breeze to do all 12.
They still give 1/2-1% XP at 50, and the 49 pets murder them without breaking a sweat.
I went in as a level 42 Cleric, with my level 60 Ranger buddy. We were the only ones in the dungeon. We stayed grouped in front of the library, and he'd pull 5 or 6 "yard trash" mobs, kill them all (maybe with a CH from me) and I'd get 4-5% per pull. I went from level 43 to 44 in 2.5 hours. Can probably get from 44-45 in a similar timeframe.
Oh, yes, it can be a tough place, and you do have to be careful of pulling too many mobs, but it can be done. And it is GREAT exp! We all leveled at least once there with light blue and blue mobs.(lvl 45-47)
Recommend pulling with bow or casting, mobs(undead in the church area) didn't seem to add-on if we pulled from far enough away. So only got one at a time.
Well, went here with a druid(45), shaman(46), enchanter(46), and bard(47) and only had one problem and that was when we weren't careful and got over run by about 6-7 mobs and the shaman died. Rest of us lessor succored to the zone. Getting corpse was a bit of a problem, but a high level ranger pulled it to zone for us.
With the twisting passages, drop offs, and see invis spiders, getting a corpse can be difficult, even more so for those that don't know the zone. Highly recommend printing the map from eqatlas for this zone and taking a very close look on how to get around. It's a bit of a maze with only one way to get out.(one way passages because of drop offs)
Go slow, kill everything on the way in AND on the way out if you don't have wiz or dru to port everyone out. Our group only went from entrance to church area as we wanted to get Xalgoz for the fang for the Howling Stones key, so don't know anything about the other half of the zone.
Some of the spiders see invis; seen them in the passages around the broken floor room. This room has one passage that leads in on the top, and 2 that lead out on the bottom, under the broken floor.(others are dead ends) As you come into the room and drop down, the passage to your right, and a little behind you leads to the Church where Xalgoz spawns and the passage to your left, and in front leads back towards the zone. Both are long and winding. Never went down the one that goes back to the zone, but the one to the church had only a few mobs along the way. If you keep to your left at this point, you'll be able to get all the way to the church area.
Can be - excellent xp zone - great for the post- paludal phase up on to about 44 - I recommend a good party with decent CC and anti-undead ability - learn the dungeon layout - don't ever attack ghosts (like KC and some other nightmare train zones) - not much more to know
When I was 30, I feared the idea of even grouping with people in Kaesora. However, now that im' 54, with 1200 AC and almost 3000 HP I didn't think it would be trouble. I was trying to find the FCR for an Iksar Shadowknight, was in undead library area, and had ITU up. Sadly, one Ravenger saw me and attracted about 12 Skeletons and a few other ravengers to me. When I got really bored a couple months ago, I did Soulfire quest in case I ever needed CH's. I used almost all of em' in Kaesora in about 8 minutes. Long story short, just be careful not to be seen by big groups when camping stuff in Kaesora.
Anyone who has never been here before, let me just recommend bringing a mage if you know one. Aside from the fact that mages rule anyway, here's why.
The developers were tripping acid, playing Chutes & Ladders when the designed this place. Even with the map, me and my druid buddy managed to get in a heap of trouble in this place in just 2 minutes. The zone is a deathtrap of one way slides and sheer drops and a monster is just waiting for you at the bottom of most of them with plenty of his pals not far off. It is a dungeon where knowing what's ahead will help you live a lot easier. This is the main reason to bring a mage...
One of THE most underrated spells for dungeon reconnaissance, and especially this dungeon, is Eye of Zomm. In case you have never seen this spell in effect it like being able to go out of body and zoom around the place without moving. Low mana spell, and you can sit and med while you are scouting with it so that all you need is for the rest of your party to be patient. The little Eye can even jump over some of the pits to do some advanced scouting over the holes. It will not draw aggro either.
So tell your super-hyper cracked out puller to sit on their thumbs for a minute, the mage is gonna help us live...
Oh and if your mage happens to be level 39, have them conjure up some levitation rings. Any form of levitation here will save you lots of damage and rude surprises. So if your mage isn't that high have a chanter, druid, or necro do it.
Other hints about this zone that I'm not the first to mention I'm sure and common sense dictates: 1) You'd better have a (good) full group here if you are considering this place below 35. 2) Don't come in here without a porter (and keep them alive) unless the tanks all have a good feign death and everyone else has gating ability. 3) Don't let them run or the adds will flow...
you are totally forgeting about Wizards. They can also cast Eye of Zomm, and they can also cast Levitate at lvl 24 or 29, no conjured ring necisary (just a batwing)
I had a party in this zone with my 10 iksar monk, he is my first char on kunark so i was just exploring when i came across a few buildings and walked in one of them. Before i knew it i was zoning, i saw that this was kaesora and wondered what kind of levels where in it so i explored a little bit, i had been very much twinked and was quite cocky but i fell down a pit and some huge guy attacked me from nowhere when i already had only 14 health from fall. YOU have been hit by a bristleweb spider for 319 damage. Yes I was killed in one hit and died 28 times trying to /corpse my body back before i realized there was a 53 necro in zone who got my corpse back to me in less than 10 seconds. So that is my story of spending 2 hours and 10 seconds getting my uber corpse from a fun zone named kaesora
#REDACTED,
Posted:Nov 15 2002 at 5:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) 319 damage from a lower lvl mob? Thats strange...are you sure that the 319 dmg wasnt from the fall? *shrugs* Sorry for posting a pretty stupid post =D Anyways...ummm....bye
Why are all the places my guildies say are good exp always on Venril Sathir faction? I'm a lvl 37 darkie chanter, bored with velious, and looking for places to hunt, and all the good places are on VS faction!! This, Karnor's, my guildies always go to KC for fun and I want to go with em, but I can't because of faction...sigh...it isn't fair... :(
Well, I must admit I am seriously iritated at this and many other zones, (Kaesora, CoM to name a couple). The reason for my iritation is that I am curretnly 48 level SK, with reasonable equipment. I was helping a 43 monk frined of mine on a quest in here, and we have had our butts handed to us several times. It is very disconcerting that a mob better than 15 levels below me can defeat me, chain casting wraith and the like. Anyone have any suggestions other than twinking my toon out with Bazaar equipment.
I would have thought that mobs 15 to 20 levels lower than myself would be relatively easy...
I think you take this game a wee bit to seriously to get so wound up with a little semantics. I dont think there were too many people who didnt understand what my meaning was. Excuse me for not using the proper terms in my post.
Easily...my 45th level cleric had little problems soloing minions and spectral guradians. Since you're level 52 most should be LB or green to you so you shouldn't get adds.
He spawns around the library. Usually I see him if I clear the mobs on the front and then clear the library of all the first floor mobs. He is fairly rare but not impossibly so.

I just had a 5 hour hunting spree in Kaesora with my 49 mage. I was only one in zone looking for power of water for epic quest, so i took it slowly. i Finally worked my way all the way down to the hungered ravenger past the library and never got killed once. i did get a bunch of drops (too bad all lore) and think i will go back tomorrow and check out how close i can get to Xalgoz, 5 towers was only part i didnt go go except a couple corners. And in the library the Shield of Spectral Essence dropped off a Spectre not the guardian when i was there. Oh, and i used my trusty fire pet, not earth :P
