was Wurm. I didnt see not one of the a Wurm in the zone. Had many Wurm on track all night. They were all Dk blue to a 54 druid. Fairly easy to kill just root and dot.
i dont know if its true or not but i heard that the wood elf illusion mask drops here and Alla wants money for me to b able to do an advanced search so im hopin one of u can help me out and tell me what it drops off of or what it is called

light blue mob to a level 69 right at in the valley to dreadlands from burning woods. named Doacaan Drakay. wouldn't respond to my hails ( wood elf druid ) I'm guessing either epic or task related.
I'm not sure but there seems to be a new mob in Burning Woods. The mob is "a loyal follower." The mob is indifferent, and doesn't respond to hails. It looks like a sarnak.
Just killed him, no faction good or bad for killing. He is green to a lvl 60. It dropped "Symbol of Lativ" Lore; no drop; weight 0.3 stones. Class/Race: none
This mob might have something to do with the new beastlord iksar quest, just a random guess
Looks like BW would be a nice place for my 44 Zerker... this new class is very fun to play.. and I normally can hold my own with whites even at my level. Time to try out this zone.. DL was getting a little boring. hehe...

I will not tell you that you cannot solo here, but...
I started hunting in here at 52 for the 2 mage epic drops and am now 54 still waiting for the embers to drop. The problems that I have experienced will be exacerbated at your level. The biggest problem is the wandering mob adds. While, if you are careful and constantly on watch, you usually can maneuver to avoid adds this can become a big problem real fast when in a fight and your focus narrows. The second issue is the casters (Sarnaks) that can be a real pain with their DOTs to a 50s lvl, would be deadly in your 30's.
All in all, I highly recommend soloing else where at 36. I did the north west Yeti cave in the DL from 36-44 solo in about a week. Soloing in BW will be painful and slow at 36, and even through your early 40s. As for a group of mid-thirties; sure a full balanced group but you will have to bring one as BW sees little traffic anymore and the time could most likely be better spent elsewhere (say LDoN) getting xp.
For the rest on my 2cp worth, come back here in your late 40's and hunt the giant fort area for xp and work your epic pieces at 49+.
If youre still following the dreaded mage epic, (it sux, tell em Qaenywen said so), follow the guild here to the T. Use the loc -450 , -2250 for your point. Stand there exactly yada yada, I didnt easily solo, 65 mage.

The problem with soloing here as a Mage is that there are far too many adds, and a lot of them will be red or above to you at 36... with care you can avoid them, but it will always be risky. Group-wise it's fairly empty on my server, I suspect you'd have to bring along some friends.
Hail, Get a Druid Teleport into Skyfire and zone into the Burning Woods that way. Once zoned in, go directly South through the tress into a little gully. As soon as you come to the end of the gully stop. You will see an abandoned fortress to your right. Stay right there and monster traffic will continually run past in front of you. Nothing will approach you where you are. You can Charm solo there or pull them to you, let them whack you, swordman will engage and debuff them as swordman whacks away. You should do fine. I never have had any adds this way. Bakabakka Khagan

The Dreadlands are now mostly light blue to my 51 Druid and I love to solo. Any suggestions on where a 51 Druid could solo here? I've thought of the wasp nest but have not tried this zone yet.

Just a little brain teaser for all you hard core EQ'ers. Was soloing in BW the other day and killing Giants, Sarnaks, Wasps, and Skellies....and i looted an odd item. Petrified Charred Branch....it is magical, lore, no drop...no stats and usable by all/all. Been looking forever and can find nothing. Can anyone help? or have you heard an NPC speak of a similar item brom a giant or in the BW zone?
I met Faelin today - Right by Telin Darkforest. I tried to hand her the worn note Telin gives for Druid/ranger epic - she said "I have no need for this item Traxs, you can have it back" When I hail her she says: "Didn't think I was gone for good, did you? We're that much closer to finishing this trial of our strength, thanks to you." I am a druid and have done a little on the epic quest. She cons warmly to me. I couldn't get her to respond to anything else??
I met this new NPC named Faelin, she runs around Druid Epic Npc Telin Darkforest, any idea what she is for? she dont talk much when hailed and i couldnt get her to say anymore
He does not have a place holder. In the building he spawns in there are 3 sarnak spawns inside and one just outside however and these will be kos to you unless you have the faction. He spawns in the corner that is normally 'vacant' ie the corner closest to the zone wall on the dreadlands side of the building.
the sarnak imitator (jeb) wont be kos to you however..
Hes not always up, he can take days to spawn after a patch and he does seem to despawn for reasons I've not been able to work out.. (I sat there for most of a day waiting for him when I did my epic).
Ok, the mob the chanters want is the Sarnak Imitator, he should not con KOS, and if you say to him "are you Jeb Lumsed?" it will reply yes.
I had a lvl 54 druid with me that harmonied the sarnaks there (not the imitator), I stood out as far as I could, hailed him, got the correct response and gave him the notes and got the seal, then we left, didnt have to kill anything.
The first time I went by there he was up, talked to him, went by tonight to turn in the notes and he wasnt up, and wasnt even on track. Has anyone heard if they moved the spawn somewhere, since he wasnt even in zone?
I am more than willing to say he prolly despawned. Not that I am a chanty, am a mage, but i know my spawns, even the epic npcs, despawn occasionally and i have to hunt around or worse, come back another day....
hope that helps, seems obvious to say so sorry to state the obvious if you already thought of this

The hornets nest in BW to the NW of DL zone in is a very sweet spot for a shaman /tank combo, and if you are willing to pull other mobs from a distance then you can fight wurms, sarknaks, gorillas, and skeleton with a full group with good XP. I have looted 4 spells and 6 gems/jewelry worth 80pp to 100pp+. The are 4 types of hornets u can pull. The Ash Hornets are the easiest--nearly all of them are green to a 53 shaman--u can slow them and have the pet take him out while you med. Second is cinder hornets--most are light blue to a 53 and these guys are easiest to kill--one ebolt and doggie chewing on him will make short work of it. Next is Ember Hornets--these are all still dark blue to a 53 and are a minor pain but XP is good. Highest of them all are Scoriae hornets--again all dark blue to a 53 but these guys have a crapload of HP--2 ebolts will not take one out. I would reccomend that a person pull a mob with a ranged item or spell--but if u pull a mob next to a ember or scoriae you will wind up with an add. I also found that the slope on the north side of the nest is a very cool spot to pull from---no wandering mobs come there. Perhaps the best part of this spot is that few people want to come here so atleast on Luclin server.
I am afraid the Mage is right..Went to BW yesterday to hunt hornets with my expel summoned spell loaded..I tried to cast it on it and I got the message that this spell will work only on summoned beings(
**THIS IS A WARNING!!!!!** My wife and I traveled here this past weekend looking for some easy xp (I am a 47th mage with a 39th anti-summon DD). However, once we got there we found that EVER hornet we found was NOT considered summoned and so our xp trip was in vain. I thought that it would be best to share this disappointment with you all so that you know before hand. Be well and good luck in the xp grind.
Zaymot Silver 47th Mage, Fennin Ro Order of the Wolf
Damn Verant ! LOL..I traveled across 2 continents just to kill 'summoned wasps' to my dismay "This spell only works on summoned creatures" pops up. Now I am across the world bound in Burning Woods. Guess this mage will have to break out Elemental Maelstrom and Rain of Swords and hit the monkeys and giants. Wake up Jebanner !!! you have to earn your keep LOL.
>>Warning, this mage does not know what he is talking about<<
Sorry, but that mage is correct. After a recent patch the wasps are no longer considered summoned creatures, and now druid anti-summoned spells are going to be almost completely unused after you level past LoIO. :(
i am lvl44 and i fear kite all the time in BW. I camp my pet outside of the DL zone(the right side(facing BW) because the fear sends them to the left in an L shape. I use this for the wurm: chilling embrace pull, when i get back to pet i Dooming Darkness, Fear, Scourge, Vampiric Embrace. *note* sometimes i do one or two life taps because when you pull with chilling embrace the wurms sometimes take a second for pet to gain agro and they can hit HARD(114max, i think). I have staff of hte dreaded gaze, and i usually fear them 3times during the fight, sometimes having to dooming darkness them. VERY little chance of agro. For all the other mobs that i have fought i did the same tactics just less DoT stacks(not as much hitpoints/damage output).
One night in Umbral, though, i was getting summoned repeatedly, my group had all gated or died, but i was able to mem blur the mob 3 times and lived to see him walk off. Luckily he was rooted and slowed - just remember all is never lost, dont panic and you may find a way out.
mr darkforsest faction is one of 2 factions you have to raise for dru/ranger epic and its easiest to do both faction hunts before you start. the first is muffin quest in wfp even if kos cause he is not near guards just give him 4 muffins at a time 2 bags should do unless you have gotten hits in the past. the other is batwing quest grab 2 bags of bat wings and head to felewithe to mage guild any who you gain fatcion with keepers of art on this one. more info look up eqdruids.com then click epic section then ancient pattern for the batwing one andclick aicient coin for talen darkforest/muffin man one would give names for npc's but cant remember of hand these are common quest for peps our level for faction so:) good luck on epic guys
Did the cycle for Nezakezena and Phurzicon: They all spawn on the same spot, no movement necessary. 12 neze's and 12 phurzicons later we had: 11 guts 1 ember 1 wurmscale coat
What is the loc. We sat today for 4 hours and found Phurz once and never Nez. We were at n400, n2500 and we found phurzicon aways away. I know i helped someone before and we sat right on the spawn loc. Can anyone clarify this location?
Found an npc, by mistake in the sarnak tower outside Chardok. I got bored Grav Fluxed my self to the top and in the guard tower there is a mob called 'Atheling Plague' He is green at 54 and indifferent. When hailed he reponds with 'Ahh!! A conversationalist. How good to meet you, Xiana. Yes. I have heard of you. Go ahead and ask for that which has brought you to my tower and emboldened you to slay my weaker minions.' That is all I can get out of him. He resists all spell attacks except my Lures, and when you attack him he teleports you to another room outside Chardok. Anyone know who this NPC is and what he is for?

52 Shaman here, been fighting in BW for the last 2 levels, and doing it all at the giant fort. Have killed every giant at the fort, and Paclock at least 3 dozen times. However, today I met a new named spawn, Carpentar Grundo. Double hit me for 133 after jumping me as I was finishing off an Ancient. Just popped on me, as I was outside the fort, but near the side where the hut contains 2 spawns. Was able to root him off me, and run out of deargo range. Then teamed up with a 55 Druid and we took him down, alittle tougher the Paclock, maybe 1500 - 2000 more hps.
Dropped a Bronzewood Staff, 2hb, 10/26, AC 11, procs Stun. Nice item, only its Lore and No drop. Wondering if this is a new quest, and if anybody else has any information on Grundo or the Staff.
Found the answer in the recently posted quest called "The Spirit of Garzicor" from Skyfire.
Bronzewood: Found on a rare spawn, A giant carpenter, which spawns in the giant fort in BW. Simply kill the two mobs in the only hut where two giants spawn, and Carpenter Grundo will eventually pop. He does not hold the staff, but you loot it off his corpse.
The giants and wurms are great exp and easy to solo using the right technique.
Use your 29 darkness (dooming). Use this because in case of a resist you have a better casting time and uses less mana. Invoke fear, and your pet. Make sure you have your pet augmented and buffed with Spirit Armor. Pull with darkness and fear and then send the pet in. Reapply darkness every so often so it doesn't wear off. Then fear before your fear comes off. Let your pet do ALL the dmg. Your DOTs/IB are useless. Using this technique you'll have more mana after the fight than before and insane exp!!! Plus last night I got 3 axes of the iron black, 1 forest loop, and a bunch of 44 necro words for friends (no spells). Even better, find a rogue or your favorite melee class to group with. Also, working with other pet classes helps. Only problem is beware the druids!!! They root giants near the ramp and when your pet gets too close it will attack that giant and you can't get him off of it! When that happens just FD and worry about making a new pet later! If you do have to FD make sure you /q out to wipe the agro too. Otherwise they will return to their spawn spot and will remember you, trust me!
Ahhh!! A conversationalist. How good to meet you, Timmaayy (me :P) Yes. I have heard of you. Go ahead and ask for that which ha sbrought you to my tower and emboldened you to slay my weaker minions
pause for a while, 3 - 4 minutes
Let us see. Do you choose to speak? Or, do you choose to die?
he never attacks, he is lvl 36, he is a shaman. the only way as far as i can see into the tower, is by levitation. there is a place on the east wall of the little inlet there the sarnak fort resides where you can climb up a hill. do that, aim yourself at the sarnak tower on the right hand side, fix your view so youre looking straight up, and run for it. youll end up maybe on the roof or right in the tower.
other day I was trying to kill the giants on the ramp of the outpost at lvl 51 and then the next thing i know is a druid killling ALL the giants, I do /who <name> and hes a lvl 59 druid....I dont see anything wrong with killing these at uber lvls since they drop spells sometimes and they can still be blue, but come on, if someone else is already there and most are green and low blue go to god damn skyfire or something, geez.
#Anonymous,
Posted:Feb 05 2001 at 11:43 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) uh hate to ask especially if its true and people swamp the zone but there was a group there today who killed an ancient cyclops twice in an hour. If someone knows, does it drop the same component for the j-boots quest as the one in south ro?
Does anyone know if the worm scales are No Drop? i got one in a trade, and he said he didnt know if it was a wurm scale or not? and if they arent no drop how do i tell which one i have?
The scales are not No Drop. I have the scale from Gylton, the easiest one to get if you are not evil and it is tradeable. I have been told by many others that all 3 can be traded. I have killed Gullerback 3 times now....he is a real pain since his loot pretty much sucks and he resists pretty much everything. I have to chain pet him and I am always very nervous waiting for something to jump me while my pets beat him down. All 3 times I killed him he respawned and no Azdalan. Not sure if this is standard rare spawn for Azdalan or I have just been real unlucky.
Yet another named wurm, and this one also casts, gates, and summons. Spawned near the road by the Skyfire zone, and slaughtered the entire party... Anyone know what he is for? Is he Nezekezena's placeholder?
Saw this guy on track the other day. Conned blue at 47. Only one of the 4 of us in the group had ever heard of him, and all he could say was that he remembered that Phurzikon was a massive undercon and would take out our whole party. Of course, he was a pally, and probably underestimated the power of 2 necros and a druid... <grin>
Was running thru zone and saw him..conned blue to me at 48. Thought wtf why not..cast snare and see a red dot glowing above his head **ut oh** 600 damage..running running, off track, gate.. that taught this middle-aged druid to go messing with named wurms..
Nasty Wurmie indeed. Found him around neg 2000, neg 2000 range and he ripped us apart. He was casting 600dd spells left and right on us, and was Summoning / biting from 120 up to 200 damage.
Not true, I wasted 2 hours in brutal combat with this mob (gated twice so i had to recharm him and make him waste mana), then kite him and withstand the occasional weak nuke as his mana regens fast, then try to fear him for about 2 minutes without one partial resist or he would gate...
Anyway my reward for this was 4 pp.
Although i suppose i was lucky he spawned his 50th level version and didn't summon
When we found him he was 44 or 45 and was casting force shock. He was tough. He took a ton of damage and dished a lot as well. We had him 1/2 way and had to run oom.

This thing also drops the Wurm Scale Coat. Got it first time and didn't see one on Nezekezena so it would appear that both of these wurms drop the coat.
Somebody trained him on me last night near the Burning Woods zone. Luckily I was at full health and almost full mana at the time.
He was down about one quarter of his health when he jumped me, and I still ran out of mana without quite killing him, and I was Root-DoTing him with Winged Death. He was using a lightning spell on me that didn't do too much damage (I was taking about 100 damage per hit). I had him down to about an eighth of a bubble of health, and he Gated away. I was unable to find him again.
Took him out today for the bard in our group.. He feared quite well but didn't drop the guts, just the cloak. When he gated he went between SF and the Fort, easily trackable by a ranger.
