light blue mob to a level 69 right at in the valley to dreadlands from burning woods. named Doacaan Drakay. wouldn't respond to my hails ( wood elf druid ) I'm guessing either epic or task related.
I'm not sure but there seems to be a new mob in Burning Woods. The mob is "a loyal follower." The mob is indifferent, and doesn't respond to hails. It looks like a sarnak.
Just killed him, no faction good or bad for killing. He is green to a lvl 60. It dropped "Symbol of Lativ" Lore; no drop; weight 0.3 stones. Class/Race: none
This mob might have something to do with the new beastlord iksar quest, just a random guess
Looks like BW would be a nice place for my 44 Zerker... this new class is very fun to play.. and I normally can hold my own with whites even at my level. Time to try out this zone.. DL was getting a little boring. hehe...
I will not tell you that you cannot solo here, but...
I started hunting in here at 52 for the 2 mage epic drops and am now 54 still waiting for the embers to drop. The problems that I have experienced will be exacerbated at your level. The biggest problem is the wandering mob adds. While, if you are careful and constantly on watch, you usually can maneuver to avoid adds this can become a big problem real fast when in a fight and your focus narrows. The second issue is the casters (Sarnaks) that can be a real pain with their DOTs to a 50s lvl, would be deadly in your 30's.
All in all, I highly recommend soloing else where at 36. I did the north west Yeti cave in the DL from 36-44 solo in about a week. Soloing in BW will be painful and slow at 36, and even through your early 40s. As for a group of mid-thirties; sure a full balanced group but you will have to bring one as BW sees little traffic anymore and the time could most likely be better spent elsewhere (say LDoN) getting xp.
For the rest on my 2cp worth, come back here in your late 40's and hunt the giant fort area for xp and work your epic pieces at 49+.
If youre still following the dreaded mage epic, (it sux, tell em Qaenywen said so), follow the guild here to the T. Use the loc -450 , -2250 for your point. Stand there exactly yada yada, I didnt easily solo, 65 mage.

The problem with soloing here as a Mage is that there are far too many adds, and a lot of them will be red or above to you at 36... with care you can avoid them, but it will always be risky. Group-wise it's fairly empty on my server, I suspect you'd have to bring along some friends.
Hail, Get a Druid Teleport into Skyfire and zone into the Burning Woods that way. Once zoned in, go directly South through the tress into a little gully. As soon as you come to the end of the gully stop. You will see an abandoned fortress to your right. Stay right there and monster traffic will continually run past in front of you. Nothing will approach you where you are. You can Charm solo there or pull them to you, let them whack you, swordman will engage and debuff them as swordman whacks away. You should do fine. I never have had any adds this way. Bakabakka Khagan

The Dreadlands are now mostly light blue to my 51 Druid and I love to solo. Any suggestions on where a 51 Druid could solo here? I've thought of the wasp nest but have not tried this zone yet.
Just a little brain teaser for all you hard core EQ'ers. Was soloing in BW the other day and killing Giants, Sarnaks, Wasps, and Skellies....and i looted an odd item. Petrified Charred Branch....it is magical, lore, no drop...no stats and usable by all/all. Been looking forever and can find nothing. Can anyone help? or have you heard an NPC speak of a similar item brom a giant or in the BW zone?
I met Faelin today - Right by Telin Darkforest. I tried to hand her the worn note Telin gives for Druid/ranger epic - she said "I have no need for this item Traxs, you can have it back" When I hail her she says: "Didn't think I was gone for good, did you? We're that much closer to finishing this trial of our strength, thanks to you." I am a druid and have done a little on the epic quest. She cons warmly to me. I couldn't get her to respond to anything else??
I met this new NPC named Faelin, she runs around Druid Epic Npc Telin Darkforest, any idea what she is for? she dont talk much when hailed and i couldnt get her to say anymore
