getting to fire giants
# Nov 22 2005 at 12:05 PM Rating: Default
this will get you to fire giants without having to kill anything: swim past sonic bats thru lava, run across land to solC zone and wait in sol C for yout train to disperse, exit sol C, then swim acros the lava, jumping up the mini water(/lava)fall, and following that round. this gets you to Ragefire with no aggro, yay!

also you can keep swimming thru there lava, where 2 fire giants will then aggro you, kill them and now you are at the big door to naggy.

Heading thru the lava in Sol B where the stones cross (I think its called the lilly pads) all of a sudden I was hit hard and fast by an unseen force! It was the Fabled Death Beetle coned yellow to my 59 Necro. Hit me for 712 max.

The next thing I saw was Loading, please wait....

I cant find it listed anywhere or what it drops.

Was a nice fight.
Kobold King hit MT (70 Bst 243 AA, Time/Elemental gear, 7,5khp) up to 1050 and wacked the whole group a bit. Some minor adds from the kobolds around and kings pet where handled by the 55 Rogue, Bst wasted 2 buffed 68lvl pets out of "healing accident" (suspended minions). He is surely more easy if you don't have to 5-box him. Easy to tash/slow (partially). Cleric had half of mana and Druid was empty cause he expected more dmg and healed with fast emergency heals. Enrage at 10% was no problem, simply stop beating ;-) .. he didn't run. Avoid pushing him into the nearby rooms with his friends, esp if other fabled are up ... lol...would be a happy add ... perhaps Bst can solo with better buffs (Wunshi/Oak instead of Naltron/Nine). Need a bit mana for the heals ;-) and it could be a hard and long fight if you try it solo but it should be possible.

group:
70 bst (243 AA, Time/Elemental)
55 rog (0 AA, pre-VT)
60 clr (0 AA, pre-VT)
65 dru (17 AA, pre-VT, light ornate/OoW)
59 enc (0 AA, pre-VT)

drops:
- Fabled Runed Mithril Bracer (AC13, Str5, Dex5, Wis10, HP50, mana75, svFire8, svCold8, svMagic8, Reagent Conservation IV)
- Mithril Bracer
- some poison making ingredients

Hunting Level?
# Feb 19 2003 at 8:36 AM Rating: Decent
Me and my wife (me a level 39 mag her a level 39 druid) have been hunting Sol A goblins since 30.Its been very fun and profitable there but xp has become almost nothing. We can camp the king's room now and take king and 5 other mobs all at once.We could switch to knomes but don't want to take the faction hits.Could we come to Sol B and hunt just the greater kobolds and survive the encounters? And if so where in the zone has just kobalds and nothing else? Was thinking one of the zone lines from Sol A.We would be greatful for any help or opinions on the matter.

Me (lvl 43 ranger now) just hunted here today with two more rangers, a druid, and a cleric. I've been here before with just a druid, and we did fine, but the problem here is the trains. Adds come very quickly and very often, and the shamans will make you beat your head against the wall. If you're going to hunt here, i suggest bringing friends.

I have been able to Solo the kobolds since lvl 40 FD pulling them to the zone line up at the top of the pool room area (zones to SOL A behind the secret wall in forman room). As for getting to window room... zone in to SOL B from lava take the first left you will come to a room with a ramp that starts on the left head up the ramp and take the first left, just before the ramp turns into a tunnel, the left takes you into a tunnel with a Greater Kobold spawn about 1/2 way up. Be carefulkl when killing him he will path back out to the ramp and up the other tunnel and bring much pain down on your head, so snare or just kill him before he gets too far. continue up this tunnel and you come to a room there will be a tunnel up to the left and just to the right of that a ramp up. if you look to the right of the ramp you will see a wall with a window in it. welcome to the window room, there is a spawn between the tunnel to the left and the ramp and there is a spawn at the top of the ramp, you can almost see him through the window.
Window/Pool

How to get to Window/Pool from Lavastorm ZI:

Follow the first hallway until it opens up into three tunnels, one goes left, one goes straight up the stairs, one goes right.

You want to go left.

After exiting this hallway you will find yourself in the Circle Room. IIRC there is one Kobold in the way, kill him.

Head up the stairs in front of you and take your *IMMEDIATE* left. If you continue forward and right you will reach the KPC area, which at your level I would avoid.

There will be one Kobold when you make the left, so don't be surprised by him. Kill him, continue down the tunnel and it will you see an open room with a window. Set up camp and pull to this area.

If you pull too far, you might hit a ZI into SolA, don't panic, just zone back into SolB the way you came.

As far as whether you can solo or not in here, I don't know. I can tell you that fighting in here without a reliable form of root or snare can lead to very bad things.

Nagafen's history

Here is the Official history behind Nagafen as chronicled by Verant in EverQuest Atlas: The Maps of Myrist (page 293): "Cast out of the Ring of Scale for reasons that still remain unclear, the red dragon Lord Nagafen has resided for centuries in the fiery depths beneath the LavaStorm Mountains.

As Chronicled within the annals of the devout followers of Erollisi Marr known as The Maidens of the Rose, Nagafen, true to his dragon nature exacted a toll in maidens from the people of Qeynos, forcing them to transport one maiden a year across the continent and leave her in his cavern dwelling. This went on for many years, until a pious and beautiful maiden named Erollette - a novice in the temple of Erollisi Marr, the Goddess of Love - was selected. When Erollette sank to the ground before Nagafen, she uttered a final prayer to her goddess, asking only that her sacrifice be the last the maidens of Qeynos must endure.

Her bravery and selflessness touched the goddess, who took pity on her. As Nagafen prepared to dine, Erollisi used a golden thread to sew Nagafen's heart to his stomach, twisting his pangs of hunger into pangs of love for Erollette. Under the enchantment, he could not bear to eat her, or anything else - he was lovelorn after all. So he grew hungrier, but the more he starved the more his heart swelled in his chest and the bigger his body became, until he was so huge he could not leave the confines of his cave. He begged her to stay with him, but seeing the dragon was helpless, Erollette rejoiced and returned home to report the good news and dedicate her life to worship."

Naggy Raid on Xev

Here is a briefing of what happened on our servers recent Naggy raid...

First 1/2 hr.- We all got organized, headed to right outside castle.

15min later- We get wiped out by King & Pet, Warlord, and 6 other FG's. A pull gone bad.... everyone had to die or FD.

1 hour since start- GM arrived, despawned everything, we got back on our bearings.

1 & 1/2 hr from start- King dead, dropped crown, Warlord dead, dropped crap. All was clear to enter castle and I got burned in magma! (Not for long, I climbed out)

1 & 5/6 hr from start- We had a slight stop at TR for an all-out-war against a squad of FG's, now in Prep room.

2 & 1/2 hr from start- All are buffed (I was a buffer out of 15 buffers) and we get real exited. Some of us get scared though.

Naggy Brawl- The main tank said for all casters to stay down, but I was mischevious. I watched the 3 min brawl and avoided 2 fears. I managed to get a peek at the final blow b4 I ran down to the bottom.

2 & 40 min from start- Loot was Treasure Bag, Gold Plated Koshnigatana (MINE!), Bladestopper, Ruby, Ruby crown, and I thinkthat was it. No scales or CoF (Some1 musta ninjed them)

These new mobs drop pieces for the new Jaggedpine quest armor. The Blackened Mithril Netting is combined with tattered panther hide gloves (from Theoris Bladespur in EK) in a tailoring kit to make Blackened mithril netted gloves. These are then handed in with one shadow jade fern leaf and one shadowjade moss to recieve Forest Woven Gloves. Then you hand in the Forest Woven Gloves along with Polished Jade Studs from Potameid Matriarchs to recieve the final piece of armor. As you can see the quests are pretty involved, you can read the complete details on all the druid armor quests on the thread at EQ Trader's Corner Message Board here: http://pub126.ezboard.com/feqtraderscornerfrm11.showMessage?topicID=886.topic

The Kobold Advisor spawned in the Champion room every time I saw him(over near the lava pit), and the Kobold Guardian spawned in the hallway near the entrance to the Priest Room. They seemed to be on a shorter spawn time than the other mobs in the area (not 100% on that one).
Sorry, but I do not know the quest associated with the new items dropped (boots-Guardian and netting - Advisor) but the Mobs dropped them every time and they are both "no drop" but not "lore". Anyone with more info on quests?

Somethin really fun to do in zones like this and Permafrost for Wizards and Mages (or bards w/ SS helm) is to take Eye of Zomm and cast it into a wall. Because the eye is supposed to appear infront of you and theres a wall there, it pops up in random spots across the zone. Now that the eye is non-aggro, you can run it around everywhere and amaze your friends when you have Naggy and Tranix targeted. Or is theres a bunch of e-bay-ers runnin around, you can hail Naggy and watch them crap themselves and run for the zone. Hours of good fun and its good practice for us wizards who dont have real good conjure skill (went from 30 to 100 in conjure in about half an hour).

It really depends on what server you are raiding on. There is no "word of god" website out there that is abided by all the time, but there are certain servers that use "unofficial" type websites to display their intentions as a guild or public raid. A good place to go would be

ok most of the people sayed to go to DL but let me say this wrong ! i came here when i was lvl39 and solo with my sk kobolds. and u get better exp then u ever will get in DL. also the loot much better when u grp. alot of people dont like this zone because they say nasty trains. if u here and confirm with this dungeon u will know how to escape those trains. the people who prefer DL because not that much trains will see what are real trains when they move after DL to KC. and when u low lvl like 37+ u will pull near zone so trains would be not that hard to escape. but look if they are no big ogre blocking ur escape way :) this happend to me one time when i was here from 39 to 50. in this time i died 2 times and i think thats not that much for this zone. ( my english is shaka zulu so dont care :)

45 you are looking at bats/bugs man.. in the back towards the Firegaints.. Find yourself a Plate Tanks (war, sk, pal) to front for you and few DPS ppl and you can hold then ALL down. Great XP .. and mobs will hold you till 50 easy.. then i suggest you get to TOFS and level on floors 6, and 7. You will need a group there to. I also Concur that This zone is by far the funniest/nastiest/quickest XP at this level. I have also noted that there are 2 types of players in EQ; Dungeon Crawlers and everyone else... Dungeon Crawlers have the focus/dedication/understanding/Guts to go into places where there are no zonelines to run to.. where if you catch a train it's CR time. Where a group survives moment to moment only on their teamwork. IF you are one of these People then you will enjoy the xp and loot of this classic zone.

Allow me to adamend that previous staement before i get flamed.. I mean to say you should also try TOFS, not after 50 go there.

Bah DL is for lazy ppl Dungeons have xp bonus and better loot. AT lvl 45 if you get a full group together with a main tank slighly higher than you the BnB camp should be eazy fast XP. The KPC group shouldn't be too bad either

35 monk?

Level 35 human monk here. Moderate gear, but no twinkage. I'm wondering if I could find a group here fairly easily on the Quellious server? I'm looking for a nice mid-30s dungeon for good xp and loot that people actually go to, instead of an empty one.

I have never personally raided the Lord but I can summarize what I have heard. Since you cannot fight Nagafen if you are over level 53 it is essentially impossible for one group to kill him. You still need a raid, just a raid of lower lvl people. Verant is leaving a dragon for the mid-forty to fifty range to be able to have some fun with.

How is it that 53+ players "cannot" fight naggy? Does it say that its not a legal target or something? Just seems like such an odd nerf...

From what I have heard, if you are not below 53, the instant you attack or heal someone attacking (buffs included) you get a translocate to the zone entrance, or maybe out of zone, never had it happen, my necro is 52, gonna try it at 53, then I will update post accordingly. Just trying to help.

You can't fight hi if you are over 53 because Nagafen is in his own room. If you aren't between 45-52 you won't be able to enter the room.

I hate to correct a fellow Tar Heel fan, but you can be under 45 and still enter (and most likely die, but that's another thing.)

I've been on the Naggy raid at 42 and entered (and died :) ) both for the regular fight, and on corpse retrieval duty.

It is correct that, like Vox, if you are over a certain level you will be ported away if you try and enter the room. I was under the impression that *51* was the highest you could be and still enter, and that 52 was too high. I distinctly remember someone saying they were staying at 51 in order to get <x> piece of their epic/quest from Naggy/Vox raids and would 'unlock' regular exp. after that.
