mob not listed. killed it today, Froglok of Kunark faction, corpse had nodrop "A Froglok Head" and "Ornate Tin Box. Like rest of guk frogs, was green to 70.
This NPC gives out some kind of missions and stands right next to one of the Lower Guk entrances. Is he for the DoD expansion monster missions? Any info?
WHat will the expansion entitle will you have to have the expansion to get any of the new items in grobb or are the only additions the froglock pc's? Also when will they come out with a Plat Pack that includes the legacy? just tryin for a perplexing question.
Just when I get high enough to get into a Guk group, they make Frogloks a playable race with a city of their own and now I'll never be able to do Guk or any of the quests involving Guk without ruining my faction with them.
/grumble :(

Okay, so the new residents of Grobb are Froglocs. Here's what we need to know. Who is KOS to them (please don't reply simply that they are good aligned), what can be done to improve faction with them, and what will be the drawback to obtaining said faction? I theorize that newbie good aligned peeps will get along with them fine, but will those people who have hunted Guk be equally accepted by these newly evolved NPC's?
Mr (or Ms) Kazam, you have one long chore ahead of you. That is, listing all the new residents of Neriak, and completely re-cataloguing Grobb. I feel for you. Nevertheless, given the usual rate at which data from new expansions is added, I am willing to bet that by the time a month passes, it'll be square 8) BTW, thank you for doing such a great job over the years. You have ALOT to keep up with.

Frogloks will be tolerated among the good humans, barbarians, erudites, high elves, wood elves, good gnomes, halflings, and Vah Shir. Evil humans, heretics, trolls (of course), ogres, evil gnomes, and iksar will be kos to them. I haven't tried killing one myself, but old froggies and new froggies are probably allies, so bringing one faction down would bring the other down as well. The advantages of getting good froglok faction would be being able to deal with merchants and guilds in Gukta, being able to pass through Upper Guk without being lynched by a bunch of froggies that are too low to give you exp., and raising overall standing with the good races.
I've heard rumors floating around that the next EQ expansion is currently being called Legacy of Ykesha and that the frogloks would be added as a playable race. Anyone got any info on this?
SWEEEET. Frogloks have always been my favorite race, playable or not in Everquest. I always felt they deserved to be playable. The question is what happens to Guk? It is the only logical place to put their city, but it's also an extremely popular dungeon. Maybe some GM event where the froggies split up and some leave to start a new city?....
Heya all, Was cruising through UGuk today headed for the ac. I came upon a chanter mob that conned blue to a 45 monk, had a ds up, rune up and an INSANE regen rate. He spawns at loc 1300, 200 'ish..or it might be the other way around, get locs confused. Anyway its the loc that is inbetween AC room and priest room. He spawns the the little hallway before you get the the waterbridge section where you would take a left to get to ac. It doesnt seem like he has any PH's as I watched him despawn in front of my eyes..appears to be a random mob pop and you dont need to kill and PH's..not sure about that though.
Tried to fight him as a 45 monk...most of his spells stuck on me and I didnt even get him below 1 bub of health before I had to FD...1 minute later he was full again. Anyway I hope this helps someone finish a quest or somethin.
Anyone know what hes for?? BTW sorry for the bad spelling..its 5:00 in the morning here and I just got done with a really bad CR ;-((
I located a quest in the plane of Knowledge... i am at work typing this.. so if the details are lacking i will fill them in later. Basically i came across a Gnome quest NPC near the Great Library and after all was said and done in the chat with him... he told me to seek out the frogloks of antonica (Upper and Lower GuK) since Old SEB is Kunark... The Gnome handed me a "picturebook" and told me to search for the "old one". now i didnt have a clue who the old one was... but i think this thread of messages just cleared it up.
Will let ya all know what happens. thanks to everyone posting about this guy.
Was wandering today threw Upper Guk kinda bored, killing theese damned froglok today when i saw him at the loc you said arround. First time i killed him easily but second time i did sneak behind him trying to see if that new guy is a merchant or whatever and he answered "I can t speak with you before you prove us your loyality" or something like that. This guy is sure thing a new quest but i can start it with my max hated faction with these frogloks.
I (44 Magician) took him with ease. He kept entrancing me and my pet, but then attacked my pet which of course led to my pet giving him a ass whooping. Good thing he didn't charm my pet otherwise I would be at the other end of that ass whooping.
I've resently made friends with a rather friendly troll, and I wonder if we would be able to go at this place together and get some good exp. He is a lvl 35 shaman and I am a lvl 26 High Elf mage. Thanks for the reply(if you give a reply, if not...)

Dude, don't even attempt Lower Guk. The first time that me (33 mage at the time) and my druid buddy (30 druid then) went in to check out the dead frogs, I had pet up and fully buffed, druid had buffed all of us. We popped into "the bedroom" and the 2 undead frogs there were a knight and a wizard. I ran as soon as the first spell landed on me for 300 damage. They killed my pet in 5 seconds and I was next on the chopping block. Luckily the druid was a good ways behind me in the water and got out, I had the aggro and almost got to the zone line but those frogs are damn good swimmers (way better than my 100ish skill at the time) and caught up to me just before I could zone. Slash slash hack....
LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
/sigh

I've spent several hours here and am not sure whether it was worth the effort. I love hitting on the crocs that spawn. They're blue to my lvl 18 Wood Elf Bard, however, if you want to keep in good graces with the froggies, you only have the Heart Spiders to hunt.
I went after a fungus person, not knowing that the froggies liked them, and all of a sudden I had four froggies and two fungus men, and even a single croc on my butt. They killed me good too.
Then when I hit a heart spider with lament (which should have lulled it away) I had three Heart Spiders on me! Luckily I was close enough to the Lower Guk zone to run for protection.
Personally, I may kill a few more crocs, but if you're soloing at the higher teen level, and have no interest in killing the froggies, you might consider Oasis of Marr or one of the Ro deserts.

I just found out that I am KOS to the froglocks and I have no idea why, but is there any possible way that I can get through here to Lower Guk without being killed? Would invis work?
Probably killed a couple of them in the swamp without realizing it would ruin your faction. Invis will work for you, and killing the undead frogloks will raise your faction back up with the live ones if you are of a good or neutral race. If an evil raise however you are automatically KOS, not sure if you can raise faction enough with the live ones but you can try
#Anonymous,
Posted:May 20 2002 at 5:09 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ummm dude everyone is KOS lol yes invis would work i dont think any of them can see invis
Actually most good races start out non kos to the live frogloks until they kill a few ( took my Kitty Shammie two live kills to become threatening, the dead... well as far as I know the dead are all kos, and yes invis will work
half-elf warrior i went running all through the place ... none of the kermits cared (till i hacked a few that is) dead ones raise faction with the living ones invis works great but if you go to LGuk, consider invis versus undead i believe mad experience and decent loot

Definitely. My main is 58 cleric, and i soloed alot at lvl29-31. With Wrath you can kill pretty much any blue mob, unless it has hps way off its level. Be careful on shrooms though, some are druids and will cast 80pts heal on there buddies. If you are kos, bind at swamp/guk zone, buy 5-8 invis potions, and get to farm, then look around. At lvl 32 i could kill mutant exclusively, w/o bothering with rest shrooms in room, because he stands abit away from them.

Is this a good place to boost your ogre and troll faction? I am a Iksar Shadow Knight that left Kunark, trying to find a guild, Dark Elves hate me cuz I killed a bunch of Crushbone Orcs. What is the best place to raise faction with Ogres and Trolls?
as a enchanter i can give this advice: If the dark elves dont like you from killing orcs (aka the indigo brotherhood[dark elves waarriors]) and you fix your orgre faction (by killing dwarves) stay away from the embassader(sp?) in oggok. I was doing my stein of moggok quest and got spanked by this deranged smurf.

Ok i spent about 2 weeks here with my 38 iksar necro getting froglok meat. Since i had to kill frogloks for their meat i camped whatever was open. So over the course of that long camp here is what i have gathered. all frogloks have chance of dropping mesh, woven, rusty weapons, froglok meat, froglok blood, and froglok eyes.
AC - room with 3 gator sitting in the middle of it. pretty easy camp as far as the crocs were easy to kill. however it was very long and after 12 hours on and off i could not get the guy to spawn, so i have no clue on rarity. also there was not alot of froggies around the general area so i didnt like it for my harvesting.
Necromancer - This guy was easy. has 2 other mobs in his room and has pet. i have no clue what he is supposed to drop but he is listed as lvl 11. If u can take out the surrounding guards u can take him out. drops normal loot and undead froglok tongue.
Scryer - Drops Bracelet of Woven Grass and Shimmering Orb. Was easy camp for me and very good for my harvesting. if u come in the front, come in invis and go into the tunnel to the left. kill the roaming frog and camp there. if the frogs in the corners are shamans, kill the frog in on the right. he will get healed but not enough to really matter. then go kill the other frog in the corner if he is a shaman. then either cast on the froglok on the right or mez or what ever but pull them to middle of room. kill the rest, rinse and repeat. Scryer spawns on the stage in the right most spawn spot when u are looking at the stage. he is a rare spawn and has either the bracelet or the orb. i got 3 bracelets and one orb to give u an idea of drops. 2 bracelets, orb, bracelet was order.
Shin Lord - had alot of mobs that aggroed so i fd and left it be. was camped alot, so i did not try again.
Gaz Squire - Drops collar of undead protection and runed bone fork. is very easy camp. with only two mobs to worry about but with others to kill if u need the meat. there is a roamer in the room that u have to kill and if guards aggro u then u have to kill the roaming guard too. Squire spawns in the corner where the door is. PH is usually a gaz knight or gaz warrior. either drops collar or fork. if he has fork he is holding it looks like a halberd kinda. camped him alot and got 2 forks and like 8 collars.
Summoner/Preist - difficult room to break as almost all the spawns are gaz knights and will aggro on lvl 34 pet. killed a few times and did not drop anything of importance.
Tonta Knight - one of the more difficult rooms 2 of the mobs would aggro my pet, causing me to have to use mana. Tonta Knight is common spawn though not everytime. boots are fairly common but not that great, dont know if they have quest usage. Camp has 3 mobs in same room and roamer in the stairs below and when u come up the stairs the mobs aggro u before u can see them.
Warden - drops elf hide gloves and troll hide belt. he spawns invis so u have to have see invis(harvester or deadeye). spawns are pretty well spaced out. pretty easy room to break. camped prolly 8 hours and did not see warden spawn. so i dont know about drops.
that is all i have camped so far will update as i can. good luck in here and at 38 only the occasional gaz knight aggros me with maxed out hate faction.
Does anyone else agree that everquest is the most boring repetitive game on the planet? - I mean the gameplay consists entirely of killing mobs, and more mobs, amd some more mobs, and yet more mobs...etc..etc..i think u get the point. "Ahh", I hear you cry, "But why don't u do some quests if you are bored killing stuff?" Well, because quests either consist of killng a mob 50 times to get it to drop a rare quest item, OR, killing a PH 50 times in order to get a rare NPC to pop. Proving my point that its very difficult to get away from the repetitive, mindless killing aspect of the game. The only thing killing 100 mobs to get to lvl 15 gets you is the reward of having to kill even more mobs to get to lvl 16. If only there was another way to get good xp, involving skill or intelligence rather than an astute ability to press the auto attack button, that might make the game a little interesting or exciting. I mean this game isn't even worthy of being called an RPG, its hack'n'slash of the lowest kind (casters don't hack or slash i know, but its the same principle) what alternitive way is there of getting to level 60 other than killing countless numbers of creatures? And the thing I can't understand is that some people make it even more boring for themselves by camping the same mobs over and over again, thereby getting no gameplay variety at all! The only reason I still play is friends I've made and the fact that I'm stubborn- when I start something I finish it, and I WILL get to lvl 60 even if I hate every second of it! This is not meant to be a post to cause offence to those who think the game is interesting and exciting and overall the best game on the planet, but I would like to know why some people like it so much.
at first i agreed with your perception of the game, but then it was explained to me and i figured out the most amazing thing in the world... BEGGING!! it mkaes easy money really fast with no work.... Also some1 suid SOE for not labeling this game as excesively addictive like it is... I DONT DO ANYTHING ELSE... though i know its a bad game i just cant stop... it reminds me of cocaine... and beer... sweet beer...*drool*

About that little auto attack thing...well if by stringbender you mean bard, you really dont know how to play one. A bard who thinks he's a warrior. Ever try twisting? There are lots of techniques in everquest, i play a druid(39 atm) and can single kite, quad kite, or dot root. It isnt mindless at all, forget whats happening and your toast. One more thing, I'd like you to name one RPG or action game that doesnt involve near constant killing. There reallly arent any. So there, go back to mario(not bashing mario so dont even start) or whatever game you considered to require great skill
#Anonymous,
Posted:Feb 26 2002 at 2:26 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) for the guy who says that this is the most boring game .... DONT FRICKIN PLAY IT THEN. Nothing is worse than to hear some one shout that the game sux and that everyone who plays is dumb .... but yet that guy is on day after day .... hmmmmmm
More importantly it is a RPG. The only person who decides whether or not you roleplay is you. All of my 5 characters on 1 server roleplay every day and I admit it is somewhat agrivating when people don't understand what im trying to do but at the same time ive caused a lot of people who have met me to start roleplaying too. So if you want it to be a RPG, then just start roleplaying, develop your characters personalities. In my opinion if you have trouble with that it helps to make an evil character becuase you have some basis of a personality and it helps give you state of mind for your character.
Nope - because if it was boring or repetitve I would have lost iterest months ago. EQ is great because there's so much to do - one can walk around and explore the world, see some of the wonderous sites, practice different crafts and tradeskills, chat with thier friends, go swimming or just sit back with a few stacks of beer and go fishing. ;)
Besides, who says that it's gotta be all about leveling as fast as possible or going to the "best" spots to hunt? I try to get my characters to out of the way and underpopulated zones when I get in the mood for leveling - a blue is a blue, so why not find something new and interesting to fight? That's what I enjoy most about making level - not so much that I'm that much closer to 60, but because that means that I can go out and find new and interesting foes to fight or simply go back home and have a word with some of my old foes - nothing better then going back to the old schoolyard when you're 20 and finding the school bully is still just 15 - hey you - c'mere. >:)
You've got me pegged so hard on my mindset about this game. I totally agree with what you said here. It is not about leveling fast and getting the best stuff you can. It is all about having a good time. I like to do the same as you, and explore and find new places to hunt, check out the sites(there are quite a few nice ones btw), and just sit back and relax with some trade skills now and then too. Like you say, if you don't think the game is fun, maybe its just the way you play it. Try something different and make the game fun. Even try the roleplaying that one guy was saying. That is fun too.
Happy Hunting all!!!

Perfect example: I have a 24 day playing time, ya know what lvl I am? 25! yeah, thats right, 25! Why? because Ive been trying to work up trade skills, fishing, practicing skills, and when I wanna cool off, I go to EC and run up and down the tunnels, so for you Vah shir, and you Beastlords who have reached 60, I Hope you had fun, or you wasted your life on this game. (not that this game is bad or anything)
Sure, it gets annoying, people dont cooperate, and you just get mad at times... thats what happens.

if u want a bind and your a melee.. u need invis.. if u are war... don't get bind there.. if come out.. u shall perish.. a rogue can get a bind there easily.. hide/sneak. talk to shamans in grobb and get a bind.. it'll save a great deal of time from Freeport to innothule swamp.. jst wanted to let you know.. smell ya later :P 26 dwarf warrior insomnia reborn :P
Unless you've done some faction work, though, you'll be KOS there. That still may be OK, if you just want to be bound near the entrance. You'll have to sneak in and out if you do that.
My Iksar monk has used the firepots in Timorous Deep to gate to Grobb many times, usually when I'm heading to Guk, and I just sneak out past the guards outside the entrance when I head out.
I was curious, what specific factions would i have to work on to be able to be bound in Grobb? And likewise, what would be the best way to increase those factions for my barbarian warrior in a way that won't affect my factions with the good races?

AND you could have just read the thingie on UGuk that states the lvl clearly!!!
Hullo I'm a 24 human warrior. Woud this zone be good for me to hunt in? If so, where in the zone would be the best place? Any info would be helpful. Thanks ^_^
Personally I'd say this wouldn't be a particularly good zone for you to hunt in, pickup groups are very rare. If you have a group on your way in go for it.
If you are looking for pickup groups I'd try South Karana (look for aviak or spire groups) or Highkeep (look for a guard room group) or Ill Omen (look for any group you can get in except the windmill) If you don't want to travel far there's always Cazic-Thule (mighty dangerous but hey.)
Then again you're a warrior under 30, so you probably are already past the mid twenties, and now are wondering "Where the hell do I find pickup groups at 30?" Ha. Answer is you don't.
Ah - yes, you do. Try the Pickclaw Goblins in High Keep - the experience is very good until level 34 or so (at which time it drops off rather steeply; and the loot *more* than pays for food, water, booze, and bandages :) - and it's nearly always possible to find a pick up group in either the 'Warrior' room or the 'Raider' room. For those in their low to mid 20's, the 'Guard' and 'Lookout' rooms are also decent places to find and/or form groups.
So many people here dont know whats up. I solo'd the lord room at lvl 40, I am a rogue. I could single pull this area out into the hall with dubious faction, now i am back to kos, and I get pretty bad agro... now i just clear a slow path back(his buddies fall like flies) and clear his place holder. come back every cycle and do it again. As for solo'ing him? i need full health, but havnt died to him yet. ~Viro~ ~Arcane Asylum~ ~Drinal~
Lord Shin Ree is anamed orc in EC (very rare spawn) How ever The Shin Lord is in this zone >=) The 3 of you may beable to hold the lord's room if you never and i mean NEVER let one get away. there are a number of frogs not far from the Lord's room and and huge ass train would crush you
the best place for binding if a KoS melee class to hunt here is oggok....safest if you got invis. otherwise its a long run from arena witch is the next closest i think
ok this is pissing me off. I am a lvl 40 troll warrior. everything in this entire zone cons green to me. But every time i have to go to lguk or out of it i get agroed on by about 4 tal or tuk or whateve knights. And i beat them down. Its just pointless for them to keep attacking me and it makes me mad cuz it wastes my time. Does anyone know when they stop agroing?
My 48 Pally would still get aggroed here and there by a few froggies...rarely..but every now and again, they'd try to box with me. Just gotta learn to live with it I suppose..hehe

Hey all :) would a 16 human monk survive in upper guk?? im going there to get mesh items My friend said some froggies drop magic gloves thats what i need if anyone can help PLEASE DO!!
I f you are just going for the mesh items, go to the Qeynos Sewers. You are not going to get XP off of the Froggies down there, but you are not going to die either. My monk had a complete set of mesh by the time he was 10 off of the Froggies down there. Leveled from 8 to 10 off of the Froggies and the Injured Rogue.

Definitely not if he has ghoulbane. If he doesn't have Ghoulbane, you could probably solo him if you used your LOH. But then you would need others to take care of any of his friends...
Hi all. I'm wondering how my lvl 22 Warrior friend and I (lvl 22 Cleric) would do in Upper Guk? It'll be our first time here and I'm pretty sure we could hang for a bit, but seeing that there are lvl 25-30 or so lvl monsters in here, we don't want to press our luck. Plus, I need to find that Chittin Shell Shield.
heyas :) Chitin Shell Shield drops on the Giant stone spider I believe. They are not that far deep in. All the regular spiders where blue and even green sometimes to my lvl 16 druid :) so you guys would definately do alright. They do run when low health, so be careful of froggies! The giant spider was only yellow to me i believe...maybe red im not sure. not very tough though :) Hope i helped everyone!
