Just saw this guy get killed by a minotaur before I could get to him near the cave entrance. Corpse popped upon death of course but he was carrying a staff. Anyone else seen this guy?

I followed "A Goblin Alchemist" around the gorge for 25 minutes today. Have done extensive grinding in the gorge over the years, don't recall seeing this mob before. He stops and buffs the other goblins. He ranges all over the zone with no real obvious pattern (i.e., sometimes stops and turns around at south intersection, sometimes doesnt).
He did not path into the central area where the static named evil eyes spawn. He did aggro most things, though occasionally passed by muddite elders. Without me babysitting him he would have been dead within 2 minutes of spawning, as he isn't very tough.
Couldn't find any info on him so decided I had best kill him. Dropped Humerus Handled Mace. A nodrop 5/29 1hb.
A Goblin Alchemist has been there since the beginning, he is part of the Treant Fists quests. The reason you have not seen him before is because he is an incredbily rare rare spawn, in addition he and his PH are on a 72 minute respawn timer, in addition they are usually killed by the roaming mino's before people see them unless they are camping at the Runnyeye zone.
**Also the Humerous Handled Mace is the quest piece.
Personally, I think that before you can use books in the game that are not yours, you should have to do a quest.
Like a Freeport to Qeynos run, with flagging NPC's along the way. Just target and hail them as you pass by, One in each zone. <sorry you PL'r, and sorry to your druid wizard companions too>
Once you have done this and zoned to PoK using the appropriate book with flags in place, then the rest of the books will open up to you.
Not a bad idea but some of us have already lived with having to make that run for two hours and don't really feel like going through a flagging process so we can flag our 80th twink for "zoning".
Through east commons or runny eye (from Misty Thicket) ...... POK, as cool as it is. has taken a very real feeling world, very tangible, and made it just a series of places.... as if ALL zones are planes. I think every noob should have to go from Queynos to Freeport on foot, Gathering items as they go. If I was a GM, Id make a quest for new people. Showing them how individual cities connect. Its sad really. This is not a flame or slight against you.... its just that its made the world sort of inconsistant.
I think Pox Soth and some other new NPCs in the zone have to do with omens of war, was hunting in here right before the patch and they werent there, when I logged on after the patch saying Omens went live Pox Soth and other new NPCs were up on track
On 35 druid sitting around EE camp, I hit track and found "a goblin veteran." However, when I tried tracking to it in this gawd awful zone, it showed up as being in the wall to the left just as you are looking out from Runnyeye. Mob stuck in wall, no piccy...but it's there somewhere :(

Running through here for fun the other day and saw a new mob on track. "Beholder Overlord". Conned yellow to my 65 so I thought we would try to take him out. Got two groups of 65's well equiped and engaged him. Quaded for 1K, flurried, unslowable. We wiped and when we did the CR, he had despawned. CRAZY MOB for an old world zone. GM event??? Has anyone else seen the "Beholder Overlord"
"Curse you Evil Eyes, I whisper to meself in me cabin, night by night." No really. Anyways. I just wanted to post this, when an Evil Eye charms you, he just walks off with you tagging behind, which really stinks (especially if he takes you back to a full camp, ugh) But i was just wondering, what happens if, say, ur a mage, or some other pet class, and is charmed while having a pet out? Does the pet dissapear? Or does it/he/she attack you, or does the Evil Eye's pet have a pet?
I dont know whether to post this as a mob, but in beholders on march 16 (5yr aniv of EQ) something new popped up. Me and my 52 rogue friend Rorom were hunting Muddite Mud, and i told him that Xorbb spawned here. Now being adventurous, we wanted to kill the king (we love killing the main mobs of zones). So we are sitting around, killing muddites and evil eyes. Then something called "The Fabled Evil Eye" spawns. I dont see it posted so i dont know whether it truly exists or not. GM events had been happening all day so i don't know whether it was a new creature thanks to GM's. So we kill it, and it drops a Fabled Polished Bone Bracelet. It was exactly the same as a PBB, except it was no drop and had +5 wis, +5 Int, and +15 mana and the affliction focus 2. I looted it and wore it. It looked exactly the same as the PBB. We killed there for a whi;le. The mob was more common than the Lords, and it spawned on both sides. It also spawned outside the king area too. It was also up at the same time another one was up. This could be a GM event. But, oh well, i like the bracelet =)[quote]

Ok..I spent about 6 hours over two days here farming muddite mud for my 52 - err now 53 rogue.
These are the results: 21 muddite mud 60+ small clay 20+ large clay <20 heavy clay 40+ ore
I killed over 100 muddites...and they dropped at least one form of clay...they do not drop at the 40% the rogue poison site states...
The beholders...I killed them 30 times..I even killed the whole zone and they were popping in the chasm, wondering around ! They dropped 4 bracelets (+3 WIS/INT affliction efficiency I), ring of +5 health, globe (first/sec slot) of +5 health. They dropped loads of pp the beholders and chasm minataurs.
Chasm minatours drop the minatour axe worth 3 pp at 115 charima.
I killed goblins and gouge minataurs too. I never saw the King...
I made 200 pp over that time :-) + the muddite mud + the clay...

Ok this is for all the mages out there, first pull with a long distance bolt on EE itself, and dont let pet attack until it aggros from EE spell itself, or you have a slight chance of getting your own pet charmed and attacking you! One bolt and one spikes is usually enough to drop the eyes, the Lords need about 3 good nukes, keep up major shielding for that extra magic resist and in about 2 hours of killing with a KEI and clearing out the room (including Minos) you can easily make over 200pp. All this with a whopping 67 Charisma!

Ran into an elemental today in the Gorge, conned red and was scowling.. told my lvl 55 buddy about it and he came down, we slayed it. It conned dark blue to him. it dropped nothing, disappeared upon death, and spawned nothing. We should have tried hailing or something first lol.
My friend, you have surely experienced the wrath of an elemental that had been lured from it's master. I have had this very unfortunate event happen while I was slaying the vile evil eyes. My elemental that had been fighting alongside me suddenly turned and started attacking. In my weakened condition from fighting the eye, I was not able to hold him off and retreated to the zone line. After a little recovery time, I reentered the zone to find that my errant elemental had slain an unfortunate soul passing through, and was standing over his body. With support f another elemental I destroyed the one gone bad, with no experience rewarded, no drops, and the body disappeared to whence it came.

To have been touched by the elements is to have had a glimpse of the true meaning of life.
This IMHO is by far the best zone from early 20's to around 30, with one condition: If you can get the EE camp and do it solo, you're in for a ton of XP and loot. Consider the drops on the Eyes:
1) up to 4pp or more in coin 2) gems valued between 3pp and 7pp are common 3) Optic nerves, 1pp to vendors, common drop 4) Magic items like the PBH and PBB, none of which are lore, so you can keep farming and selling.
There is nothing else that I know of at this level that yields this kind of loot. You can easily average 4-5pp per EE kill, and if you hold the camp for a couple of hours you'll end with a few hundred plat and most likely a few magic items as well.
The key to the EE camp is it needs to be done solo, unless you don't mind getting charmed and killing off your friends. As a mid-20's ranger, it was perfect. Med along the cavern walls; start by rooting EE pet and EE went down quickly, then finish off the pet. If you get charmed, no big deal, nothing will aggro you while you're charmed (you'll just follow the EE around a bit). Watch for wandering minos and muddites when fighting and you'll be fine. Once you break the camp it becomes a little easier, especially if you aggro the Eyes as soon as they spawn and before they summon their pet.
If the EE spot is camped and you're not a potter (there is no other reason to kill the muddites, except faction and xp), take on the minos. The great thing about killing stuff in this zone is that it raises your faction with the Runnyeye goblins next door. By the time you're about done with the Gorge, you'll be right around the level to take on the boss mobs in Runnyeye, and if you've done enough killing in the Gorge you'll be able to go down to the depths of Runnyeye and not catch a bit of aggro until you start attacking (go go BABS, BALS, BAM woohoo).
Could a level 30 druid kill stuff here? Im desperate for wisdom, at a meger 136, and a pair of Polished Bone Bracelets sounds very nice to me. The eyes are supposed to be enchanters, but I'm assuming at my level I would resist quite a few of their spells. Could I kill them?
My shaman was 31 or 32 when she started camping evil eyes, and Lords. Exp was almost non-existent, but the loot! In addition to PBB's she was making close to 100pp in gems per hour. If you need cash and wisdom this is the spot for you. Just don't be disappointed about the lack of exp. Oh yes and King Xorbb is a handful at 31 and 32. After that a piece of cake.
Hi every body!!!!! ( Hi Doctor Nick) I am a lvl 18 rogue ( pretty close to 19) and i am currently lvl ing in NK i find that it is kinda of slow though cuz i cnat solo without being regen and i was wondering if coming to the Gorge of King Xrobb is a good idea? im semi twinked i have some preety good weapons head gear and belt and a few otehr things but some of my stuff is lockjaw vest- barbed legplates so on. Anyways would a 18 or 19 rogue do good here? if not please tell me any other places to hunt
I had my rogue here for a short time but didn't stick around very long (level 14). The muddites usually drop heavy clay crap which will encumber you fairly quickly. The exp is nothing spectular, on par with most other areas. At 19, I'd suggest Highpass Hold and then heading down to the Keep once you hit 20 or 21. You will get 1/3 to 1/2 blue per mob in your low 20s in a group of 6. Most people ding 1-3 times/day down in the Keep. The loot usually sucks until you hit the warrior room or the raider room, where fine steel is dropped along with ore that sells for 1-4pp.
If your pick pocket skills are up, you should be able to take out 1-2pp per mob. I've been doing this and letting the others in the group take the loot but I still grab an occasional loot when I see them holding a weapon :) By 35 or 36, my disarm was high enough that I'd disarm them once every 20-25 tries, pick up the weapon mid-battle, and no one would even notice. On a good night in the warrior or raider room you should be able to make 50-150pp on money alone and another 20-50pp selling the loot. The great thing about the zone is that there is bank about 1 minute away up the stairs and several merchants nearby. The bank *is* bindable so if you die, the CR isn't a hassle. There's a rogue trainer in Rivervale and one also in the Hold (I haven't tried the one in the Hold since I hear the smugglers aggro on any PC).
One warning, though - this zone is usually heavily camped. Each camp can have waiting lists of 2-4 people waiting to join. Once you're in a group, make sure your schedule is open and stay in it. If you leave, you'll usually have a long wait to get back into the action.
im a 32 warr so far i have killed around 14 eyes, 7 or so have been named, 2 PBB so far 4 optic nerves adn lotsa various worthless gems and jewelry VERY easy im doin it alond NO spells have stuck cept the ocassional damg spell adn i have barely lost any health to each Never moret athn 120dmg per eye
not to be rude but the gems aren't worthless and actually neither is the jewelry i am a 36th lvl chanter and take several lower lvl alts there for the exp and the LOOT!! the gems alone are almost priceless to me as a jeweler and most of the jewelry is worth 2-5 pp depending on server and chr when selling....the nerves are for warrior crafter armor quest and the valuable at that too...shop around i'll bet you will fnd that the gems and jewelry are worth far more than you think unless ya got a high level alt that feed your bank account 10k at a pop...
Kattaebrae 36th lvl Enchanter Torvonn server p.s. look me up if you want to sell a stack or two of gems...especially dropped gems
As a 34 Druid I went to see If I could get a PBB the other day. I split the throne with another low level group.. I took one half and they took the other. Well.. including the named Lords I killed 27 of these things and no PBB dropped. Loot was:
some droppped up to 3pp eye nerves-once ( sold well at vendor) eye sacks 8 many gems occaisional cloth peice chipped bone ring HP stone mana ring onyx ring mithril ring jade ring,... etc
My suggestion is to AOE both eye and pet then Kill eye first. The pet has an odd pathing that is very easy to avoid even if not sowed. As a 34 druid with barely any resist gear on I was only blinded once for 5 secs and almost none of its spells stuck. Charmed maybe once or twice briefly. Had no problems.
I spend most of my time at the Evil Eye camp, soloing the Lords and eyes, except when Soptyvr comes, then i go play an alt until he goes away, hehehe...Grouping for the evil eyes is a BAD idea! They charm like sexy nude seductresses, will charm the tanks of a group, and the tanks will start beating on the casters, bad news. I think a lvl 24 or so would do better soloing than in a group of that level. When charmed solo, you just run around in circles, or stay still, and nothing gets hurt, and sometimes, for some strange reason, you gain a little hp back when charmed. /shrug... so! Be safe, and do it solo!
A friend and i just cracked level 20 each (a pally and a cleric). We had been hunting in Unrest, but wanted a change. Is this a good place to go, or should we look for a different hunting ground? Thanks
hunting the gorge and ran into this muddite recordkeeper hits for around 40 everyonce in a while. dropped clay blocks and ore and also a scroll called a damaged annals. magic item lore item and no drop. anyone know what its for?
I saw a new mob today, called A Muddite Recordkeeper. Spawned where the goblin archaeologist spawns, dropped "damaged annals", identify as damaged annals. Any clue what its for? I don't think its part of the halfling quests, as I got it before the patch...
Toasted him this morning (April 11th at 0645 Pacific Time) as I was on my way to Runney Eye entrance to log. Loot consisted of the following: * Damaged Annals * Small block of Clay x 2 * Small Ore x 2
Total hit points around 300. I know this cause I hit him with Thunder Strike (262) and then beat on him with my Forest Giant Hammer, 3 hits 21, 3, 17.
Only killed him because I had never seen him before... Anyone know his rarity? Use for drop? When did he start spawning?

I was camping the Evil Eyes for the cheap gems they drop, trying to raise Gemcraft cheaply for that Shawl quest in Thurgadin, and I looted a bottle that's called Evil Eye Optic Fluid, I believe. It was on the named EE that spawns to the right of the throne as you're facing it, lore, no drop. Anyone got an idea what it's for?

I came across this guy yesterday and he nearly killed my 16 BRD near the E Karana zone. I thought he was a player killing an evil eye then he started blasting me with spells. I didn't stick around to ask, just headed to the zone. This must be a new NPC for this area. I've been in this zone quite often and never before ran into this guy. From what I saw he looks to be a dark elf.
Umm i was Just wondering if the minotaur ribcage that Yymp th Infernal drops is iksar useable. I'm not an idiot if your thinking that i thought that maybe the stats were given before Kunark.
If I am not mistaken, I think Rivervale might be the closest bind point, unless there is one of those new bind points, like the gypsys or something in East Karana. Once you leave RV, going into Misty Thicket, run straight to Runnyeye. Once inside RE, keep right all the way and you get into the Gorge. Once inside the gorge just pull minotaurs or those mud-thingys to the zone area and kill kill kill. One other thing to keep in mind is that while running from RE zone, if you keep left the WHOLE way you get to EK. Hope this helps.
the gnome who gives teh quest for the staff of observers says that he is in beholder's maze OR runny eye...I havn't goten him to spawn in eitehr locations...where in runnyeye does he spawn?
Wrong Lens, sorry. The Lens of Lord Soptyvr(sp?) are not the Lens used in the Staff of Observers quest. In fact, it was said here on Allakazam's beastiary.
Borxx no longer spawns, apparently. Fortunately, the Evil Eye Prisoners in Runnyeye now drop the Lens. I believe I saw this info in the Runnyeye beastiary.
I have a level 17druid that needs someplace to hunt. Someone suggested Unrest, but the way it looks is that I'll be dying twice as much there as I've been dying to Xytl and Gix in WCommons. I thought maybe the Gorge. Any thoughts on how successful I might be soloing here?
As a level 36 druid, I can tell you from experience, East Karana is where you should be hunting for some time. Carrion spiders, then Gorge hounds, then the Crag Spiders. Then head to South Karana and play with the Aviacs for awhile. You will fly up to mid 30's doing this.
As a fellow druid i 2 had leveling problems. This being my first char, i really didn't know where to go! Someone mentioned HighHoldPass. I went there and found myself at lvl 20 in 3days! 1day/lvl. the best part is, i only played about 2hrs. a day! Good Luck, Faettas of the 20th season the Tornnivorious server
Its a good place for your level, but experience is nothing awesome. However, EK is just close by, and is a great place for you i believe. You could solo Crag Spiders and diverse animals.
In the Gorge, Minotaurs are the right thing to fight. Muddites Elders give very little exp. It is easy to get adds in this place though - best is for a druid to fight near the EK zone.
All i know about Unrest is that it is a place of undead, and being a druid gives you no advantage there. Not solo.
I would try EK. If you have to zone to the Gorge, try the Gorge..if you have to zone to EK, try EK again..you'd soon learn which of the two is best for you.
Both zones have an Evil Eye wanderer sometimes. Both are enchanters. Until you get tracking..be careful :)
Was camping the eyes tonight and a fairly large Muddite named "Qlei" jumped me. He conned green to me (lvl 31 Pally) so I'm guessing that he may have been on the boarderline at lvl 21. Anyway, he was an easy kill at my lvl and didn't drop anything out of the ordinary. Clay and ore just like the lower Muddites. Curious what he's for.
Came across what my party thought was an evil eye in the maze. Our 2 tanks rushed to engage the thing ASAP. Unfortunely for the tanks the thing died & exploded on being hit, doing about 200 damage. It didnt cast, but it looked, conned and was named as an evil eye. No loot. Good hunting
I have come across 3 of these "fake" eyes. 2 times I tried to pull them with an arrow, and they died in one shot. The third time, my lvl 20 Shaman friend killed with a single DD spell. In each case, they were wandering, and had no pet. They do not seem to have any of the nice loot evil eyes normally carry, although the last one did have no drop bottle of optic fluid.
This weekend I was camping EEs on Vazaelle and a GM event or something happened in the Gorge where the EEs spawn. A small group of six came up to the throne, and an EE spawned by the name of Squire Sythis. They made short work of him, and two ogres appeared. Rosey Aleflower and Bagog Boneaxe. Bagog was very appreciative of the group's help in re-uniting the two. In the end Rosey gave something to the group for her thanks. Don't know what it was, as I was shortly disconnected there after and couldn't get back on for half an hour or so.
Has any one else heard of this or knows what went on?
I know this is a late response to this. I have a set of the screenshots from this event that someone posted way back when this happened. Just seeing the old interface and the old models really takes one back down memory lane. Not sure if anyone is interested in seeing the set.
Saw a very large muddite named Qlie the other night. He was about twice the size of an elder and conned red to me at 13. I assumed he would slap me around like Mike Tysons wife so I let him pass. Anyone else see him? Know what he drops?
Ok guys, even with a full group of levels 17-23, we still had problem with the Lords. We had one of our tanks charmed, so it was not a pretty site. Luckly it was a guild raid so we had our level 47 leader help us out a bit. Thanks Vanston!

I ran into him last night....he came runnin down the path to the throne area and jumped my dog who was happy to slay it. he dropped the mino ribcage ac16 with str and sta stats. i was camping eyes and had dog stationed at entrance to throne area,he sat there and killed all the wanderers that came in,Yymp was one of em...dunno how or where it actually spawned tho
OK. So we all know toolboxes and large sewing kits have the same amount of slots as a backpack, but can hold giant items too. However, has anyone given thought to tailor made large bags? These things are great for anyone who has problems with weight. Granted they only have 6 slots and hold large items, but they weigh 0.8 and have 10% weight reduction. So consider this, if you aren't going to carry a bunch of giant items, you may wish to opt for a tailored large bag instead of a backpack. It weighs 2.2 less and has 10% weight reduction. The only downside is the 6 slots instead of 8, but considering the weight difference I'd say it's worth it. Why carry something that weighs 2.2 more for 2 more slots and no weight reduction? Just my 2cp.
Ok, i have been fighting in Unrest since lvl 15, and i have officially had it with the damn trains there, so im considering another hunting ground, can someone please tell me if im crazy for even considering coming to Beholders maze? Some friends of mine told me this was a pretty good place, and im just curious. Also, i didnt even ask them where this place is. How do you get to Beholders Maze and where is it?
i was hunting evil eyes and with my eq fiancee a level 27 shaman, and i a level 26 warrior, well i reding 27 twice and we snabbed about 8 bbhops, two bracers and a few nerves but the worst is when i wqwas charmed and killed my fiance, the look on her face nearly killed me, but besides that my friend came along, a 24 druid , she was charmed and healing theee and zapping me with lighting, ended up killing her cuase she really went ld, anmd could not get back on till her charter was killed, but you see they really are evil
Saw him spawn at the first intersection you come across when going right from Runnyeye. He's a little minotaur and dropped Brahhm's horn. I don't know if this is what did it but I was killing everything in the zone in an attempt to see if Xxorb really does exist in that zone. I happened to be at the right place at the right time and saw him spawn right in front of me. I'm going to spend a few days with my 44 necro killing everything in the zone to see if I can trigger Xxorb, if I do I'll post it.
Have anybody noticed after the 5/30/01 patch that the monsters ( Muddies & Mino's) now path to the Karana zone line. Was before you could sit at the Karana zone line and be safe from anything but a train, now if you are zoning in you have to face up to 3 Mino and 4 to 5 musddies to clear that range from lvl 10 to 18+. This makes the zone even more dangerous.
My monk has been working on Instill Doubt and waiting for the alchemist to pop for the past few days, so I know pretty much the before and after of this zone. First off, this may be an error that will be corrected, but Diggs Duggins is now scowling at everyone. Since he's level 55 and hits for well over 400 a pop, keep clear of him. Second, there is new pathing. The minotaurs and muddites will now wander into the Runnyeye entrance. They just love aggroing on casters there, so go up on the walls to med. There are also some new spawn points there, one just a slight way down each branch out of Runnyeye and the other right in that Runnyeye tunnel. Minos usually pop there but sometimes muddites. Oh yeah, there are a LOT more minos running around the place now. (It also seems Qlei may be popping a bit more often, over at the junction to the EK valley I believe.) The other pathing bit is a glitch. If you train some mobs into the valley to EK, they can't get back into the main flow of traffic and will keep going back and forth in that valley. Quite a crowd there, so either be invis or be ready to move to the side wall as soon as you zone. Finally, there are new factions in the gorge. The goblins in the gorge are now indifferent or apprehensive. The other goblins in Misty are the same as before. The new Runnyeye goblins in the Liberated Citadel of Runnyeye are much more aggressive, with greens tending to aggro randomly. They also have a lot more hit points that other mobs of the level. Like about twice as many. The two spawns at the old turning point in the path are still there, but now the goblins start moving as soon as they spawn, and the minotaurs and goblins will now attack each other. So if you want the alchemist you are going to have to try to keep that area clear and grab him as soon as he pops and take him down fast. So, to the factions: Runnyeye Goblins (in the gorge): +PickclawGoblins, +GuardiansoftheVale, -KingXorbb Pickclaw Goblins (in Runnyeye): +KingXorbb, +Rivervale factions, -PickclawGoblins Eyes, Muddites, Minotaurs (in the gorge): -KingXorbb, +PickclawGoblins, +ClanRunnyEye
