I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else. While trying to rack up the experience in north karana something strange happened. while in a fight with a fire beetle a blue beam came from the sky and instantly killed me. i don't have any bad faction with people in north karana, so don't know what may have caused this. please help, i can't even find my body now; it seems to have disappeared...
Sitting in NK tonite was a dragon resembling Wuoshi.....Conned red to a 58 and yellow to a 67. Conned indiff to me, with me as max ally to CoV and KOS to Scale. Submitting screen shot to Alla.
should have read a little further down...previous posts say part of bard epic 1.5 still submitting screen shot though
The dire griffon spawns the plains dragon as a trigger rather than a PHer. The plains dragon is part of the bard epic 1.5. The same holds true for the other dire animals: they're all part of the bard epic 1.5.

Went out to hunt highland lions last night and ran into the Dragon has he spawned in. Got a lvl 47 warrior from my guild to come and help kite him. Things went wrong from the word go. His scream takes 1500hp and strips you of your first 2 buffs. Then if your close he hits for 600-650hp. Which easily took out the warrior. This mod is going to need raided. If anyone drops him please post what he drops i am very curious.
also theres a really annoying plains dragon...looks nothing like a dragon...i attacked him about 5 minutes ago...he kicked my butt in 1 hit O.O lol so attack at own risk!!
A Dire Panda- Stonebrunt Mountains A Dire Leech- Swamp of No Hope A Dire Griffon- North Karana A Dire Kodiak- Jagged Pine
These are all level 65 and con indifferent. I hope this helps with some puzzle pieces. Rangers had to find 6 sick animals. I would assume there are 2 other dire animals out there to add to this list. Possibly druid epic? I haven't found any epic information linked to them yet.

Just sitting in the wizard spire waiting... I saw a wisp fly by and thought I would check for a lightstone. It wasn't a normal wisp. It was named "Flighty Azure Wisp". It conned red to me at 26. Has anyone else seen it or killed it? I would love to know what it drops!
Ok so...i kited a dire griffon around...got him to 80, he depopped and "a planes dragon" popped in his place. Yellow con to me at 66. Not KoS. Guess my models are messed up, cause it looks like a human.
anyways, he hits for 1900...dunno if thats an accurate number, i only let it hit me once and zoned.
AE is a 2 slot debuff, and atleast 1500 dd...cause thats the most it hit me for
Bumped into a rather unpleasant griffon that I had never seen before. It was a dire griffon wandering the northern pafrt of the zone. He conned red to me (lvl 45 Ranger). Thinking I could fear kite him I tried to snare, he is VERY fast and hits in the 400's. One quad got me to 50% so I took off running for my life. I am guessing that he is either a task mob or epic mob. Either way it's something you should think twice about attacking on your own.
FYI he can't be snared or rooted. Found out the hard way trying to solo him with just a 55 druid, thought maybe I could just DOT him to death. Was my first experience with a fabled MOB. I did outrun him with SOE on though so a bard may be able to kite him. Not sure of his HPs though.
I killed him twice today. 528 max damage on me also but I think he only doubled not trippled or quad attacked so wasn't that bad. He summons like Dartaemus says, also enrages, no flurry, no rampage.

Is this a good place for a 38 ranger to hunt griffons and hill giants? in other words, does fear kiting work on the griffs and are giants easy to solo? thx
You might want to bounce between N & E Karanas to get the most of hunting those critters as the Giants tend to come out around night in N.K and griffs can pop up rather infrequently since they are spawned when griffenes are killed which spawn when griffawns are killed. E.K. has the 3-spawn level cyclops family by the bridge to N.K as well as a hill that tends to become infested with hill giants, which are lower than in NK but more plentiful. So try between the two and see what's good for you.
PS when getting arrows you can earn a bit of coin and even some exp (but now much as ony 1 or two critters will even be light blue) as there are centaurs and most all will have 4 arrows on them and the lower level ones you should be able to melee or even if you want to make your own there is Ulan Meadowngreen in S.K. centaur village. People also sell looted ones they can't use back to Ulan or in the aviak village

Yes, you can fearkite the griffs, I'm getting a half a blue off them at 41.
The giants are better to root rot with Stinging swarm and plunking them with arrows. I go through about 100 per HG, so stock up. There are 2 places in EK to buy arrows.
Solod this badboy as a 40 Pally. He hit me with a 400+ nuke to start. I was casting 94pt undead nukes and had instrument of nife buff on. Had to use lay hands, but he went down and left me with 1 bubble mana and 2 bubbles life. I AM quite twinked so that may have helped.
Have not seen any werewolves in North K. but there is one in Western K. that runs the zone at night-- came face to face with him when i zoned in one night on a corpse run and promptly zoned out just before i almost died....
killed him tonight- he was chasing after a druid who obviously had trouble- when i caught up to him and distracted him - he had full health- anyways- i sliced and diced him and cast firestrike twice (302 dam each time)- once he feared me- and lost my wolf form- but overall he was pretty easy- he tries to run too- when he is down to low health- so i shot a few arrows into him for fun- i only lost less than 2 bubs of health- and I am a 52 Ranger- so he is takeable- and i dont really have any uber items- http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=121723
take a look- i guess he will be spawning alot more often now- but it would be nice to know what the hell the feather is for :)

I fought this Mob tonight and did indeed snared it, at first I had heard that it was very magic resistant and recruited the help of two guildies ( a 54 Rogue and a 44 Enchanter). Plan was for me to snare to draw aggro and nuke so rogue could BS, Cast ensnare , which hit first time, then cast Calo ( hit for 65 =P), the rogue drew aggro and finished the Griffon off at 95% health
OK just to straight this out. The Silver Griffon CANNOT be snared, it can't have any change in movement speed, this is not a resist, this is an everytime thing. Grimfeather CAN be snared and feared. The Silver Griffon Feather is used in an incomplete (as far as i know) druid tunic quest based in JPF. As for The Silver Griffon himself, he is an SK not an animal so can't be feared, once engaged, he will HT you for 401 hps, he can fear and sludge you. I took him down at lvl 44, I am fairly well geared and I know he can't be snared so I start off with swarm of pain, then stack it with stinging swarm and get ready for the ht. I can finish him off and still have 50% hps, the ht is the only REAL dps he has, once that's don't he doesn't land a lot of hits on me, of course I have a 31% worn haste and a clicky 20% haste so I'm fast as hell.
I got the immune to changes in movement messages when attempting to snare with Largo as a bard. I still have no idea what it's for. It has dropped the Silver Griifon Feathers for me both times. The ID as strands of woven moonlight FYI.
I have hunted a while in North Karana, focusing on griffennes whose blood I need for cultural smithing. I noted several things :
- Griffs tend to be on what I would call a specific "griff spawn cycle". Keep them all down, and new ones will spawn (including, apparently, The Silver Griffon). That means : if you need griffennes, keep killing faws & fons, and you will eventually get them. - Griffenne blood isn't that rare and isn't worth crazy prices people sometimes ask at the Bazaar. Get a tracker friend and go hunt them yourself. I got 5 bloods in 1 hour or so. And I only killed about 10-12 fennes & fons. - Griffons DO drop Griffenne blood also.
( - I think Griffennes are female griffs :), Griffons being the males, and Griffawns being the babies. So what about Commonlands' griffins ? :) )
I killed this mob last night on the Rathe. Conned light blue to me at 58. Just like everyone else stated. Can't be rooted or snared. Had trusty SOE on and pulled it with winged death. Took about 3 of those to kill him.
He dropped Silver Griffon Feathers, and a few plat. Took some screenshots too, that I will submit later today. Also should mention that the feathers are no drop.

I was fishing near the bridge when I hit track and saw a SILVER GRIFFON. Never saw it before in NK, and was dark blue to me (53 druid). Had an idea that it was un-rootable, so I hit it with winged death. Then tried root and got message that his speed could not be slowed. I had wolfform on and started to kite by running around in circles. Got a breath of Ro to stick. Keep running and got hit quite a few times (He hits for max of 71 and avg of 35)while trying to cast. Got him down to 15% health and I was down to 50%. Two rangers helped me (thanks to Lonain(48) and Akgriz(44)) and he went down. Dropped 5PP and NO-DROP feathers. Let Akgriz loot the feathers.
Make sure you are well prepared before you take him on.
I killed one today on 7th hammer as well same thing few plats and the feather. Wached it kill the two guards and it still had half life. It cast fear on one guard than it stayed and wacked on other. Once guards were dead it too me one winged death to drop it.
Took down the silver griff as a 40 druid on vaz with some help from the gaurds. Conned white so apparently he's exactly 40. As previously stated he can't be rooted or snared. Dropped a few pp and the feathers.
We downed him twice last night. Two level 42 Shaman. Conned dark blue to me. Resisted about everything except Togor's and Winters Roar. We just slowed him, sent in pets and then played pinball with him by alternating dd's between us. Both times dropped feather
The feathers are used for the rare and elusive tunic of jaggedpines, I cannot explain further other than you'll have to find the mob giving the quest out for yourself. Don't wanna ruin the fun of doing a rare quest
I killed this mob the other day. He did drop the feather and some plat. Luckly I sow. I stunned him and ran. However, he flys as fast as sow or even faster. I kited him to the spires. Where a lvl 30ish wiz helped..did little help but did help. Finally took him down. Bleu to 52 cleric.
hello, noticed the silver griff also on trov server, so i had to try, he was blue to a 54 ranger. every ensnare failed and panic animal doesn't work on him either. he can hit hard, well not too hard just lots of times. my ac is at 970 and the cleric i was traveling with had to Sheal me 3 times. Still wondering what the feathers are for, if you find out please post I will if I find out.

I just killed this on terris=thule it was easy just run like a bat out of hell and dot it then run again as a druid 51 hehe he cant be snare nor can he be rooted droped silver feathers anyone know what it is for yet?
Myself and two other level 39'ers ran into him in WEST Karana. Not North Karana. Wondering if it is the same mob and he travels zones? He was near the zone to NK and beat the snot out of us before we could do much to him. Again, very resistant to snares and roots, as well as most other spells we threw at him.
brought to guard tower. guards brought down to less than bub life before Silver Grif killed them. I than stepped in an finished off. must be lvl 40 and dropped 3pp and the "Silver Griffon Feather". Now of coarse what is this for? no drop / lore. Also SG tried to cast fear on me also. Becareful. Vinney Ranger 46 Rallos Zek
Killed him myself just now on AB... although I'd heard of him before the Jagged Pine patch (he'd beaten down another druid who'd been hunting HGs)
Looted 4gp and the Feather.
Ensnare and Grasping Root bounced off him every time... and 1 out of 4 Drifting Death was resisted. Level 40 sounds about right... hits a little weaker than GrimFeather, casts SK spells (Fear and low level Lifetap... but dind't use Clinging Darkness line, thankfully), and is only a little slower than SoW speed.

I have a suspicion that this beast is tied to a JaggedPine Forest quest. My druid spends a lot of time in NK and I never saw him before the patch. I killed him and got the NoDrop silver feathers as a drop. A 40 druid watching my pet beat him down said he conned even.
ok let me put this down for the drak race people dont take the nexus to here. Why u ask well here is the bigest thing a guard walks right into the the place u come out of this is bad for drak race people i found out the hard way
I chant kited this the other day, blue to 49, can't be snared. Cast fear, a lifetap and bloodboil. Dropped Silver Griffon Feather, anyone have any idea what they are for?
I killed this guy today while running to the opening of the Jaggedpine forrest. Light blue to a 55, harm touched me for 401, cant snare it, it doesnt count as animal. Dropped silver griffon feather. Killed near the wood bridge to EK.
I also killed this vial creature the other day... light blue to a 55 druid, no faction hits. Dropped a silver griffon feather for me as well. This is the first time I have seen one of these before and wonder if it's a Legends mob as I play on Stormhammer.
I have died 27 times in this screwed up zone if it isnt a stupid guard or a witherd treant now if only my invis still worked(i died to low for me to us it cus im a wiz and now im lvl 12) so if any npc raids go on i am makeing a new char on that server......

Well, to my knowledge they are 60, but I do not know for sure. I do know, that a guildmate and I PO'd one the other day when we levitated and went to the top of the spires. She doubled me for 600, and him for 2,000. I am a 51 wiz, and he is a 27 Pally. We petitioned but GM's were like no rez for you. I tried to repeat it, but she didn't aggro that time. We still have no idea. Also, while I was waiting for a GM to contact me, I got wisked away to luclin. Kinda nice since I didn't have a gem on me. Actually, I didn't have anything on me. I just go there and sat down. All I know is I am forming a group and payback will be mine. Muhahahah. Sorry this was so long. I'm still kinda ticked about it.

ok i was quesin my GB (finished the quest btw) and while passing thru north karana omw to highkeep i heard some guy with one of those really long names like the kobold in innothule shout this exactly "Oh my! What a wonderfully disease filled place this is! Lah de dah de dah!" Honestly i was freaked out and shouted WTF was that!? Well the guys in NK at the time shouted it was just an npc who had been there for a few days and kept doing that. Well i come back from highkeep with my scroll omw to west karana to talk to an NPC when he shouts it again! Now this wasnt the wierdest part. the wierdest part was that all of a sudden, as i crested a nearby hill, i see about 15 named NPCs all scowling of all imaginable races and classes! EVEN IKSAR!!! So im getting freaked out and run for cover and they dont follow me. the wierd thing is, wouldnt they all aggro on each other? at least the iksar should be aggroed on (everyone hates iksar.) soanyone have any idea WTF is going on here? im really scared that some big GM event similar to the kithicor event will happen, and all of a sudden BOOM! undead all pover and no tunare to keep us safe during daytime here. PLZ post something to tell me whats goin on!?
The "diseased filled place" message is from Oobnopterbevny Biddilets, a level 40 necro that wanders WK (and often takes out Choon & Froon :). She is part of the Researcher's Badge quest (3rd in a series) out of North Qeynos.
I have seen the same message, but I have not seen the massive amounts of NPC's he is talking about. Are you sure they weren't PC's. I am curious who that guy is though, he appears on track, maybe I will just track him down and say howdy one day.
I've seen posted several times what her loot is. I sincerely doubt there is any question left as to what exactly she drops. If you have any, please read further down the page. I think the question left on everyone's lips, is "How often does she spawn, and how can we force the spawn." Don't know if forcing it is possible, and not sure that she's on a regular spawn timer, but what the hell, it needs to be asked.

Yah she's lvl 34-40 so far i hear she drops gems So far I've gotten just star ruby earings (110pp from vendors) or just junk =P cash wise it's like 2-3 pp maybe less Snare/fear works great on her if she doesn't resist =P but she hits hard
He's for the Druid epic quest. I spent the better part of tonight trying to find him. I have no idea if he's a rare spawn or not, none of the epic websites indicate that he is.
